McGuigans is that neighborhood gem you miss when you move away. Friendly staff, good prices, and a great place to hang out. A little unknown perhaps, so good place to always find a seat, get good service, and watch a game.

Great local pub– I live close by and love the cheap beer and great service. Try the homemade Cheese sticks– they are amazing!

My friends are were going to stop in for a few beers on the back patio but, we were completely turned off by the bass thumpin’ club DJ they had set up out back. What is the deal? It’s 3p on a Saturday… at an Irish pub, not 3a on the Vegas strip.

This place doesn’t open early enough. They open late. I’m always looking for something to open for lunch in this area. They open up at random times and the food stinks.

Get the WHISKYGINGER cocktail! I don’t like brown liquors in the least, and was looking more for a margarita. But after the owner said he spent a while perfecting this cocktail and would happily drink it if I didn’t like it, i gave it a go. It’s a refreshing whisky, ginger, basil/lime(i think?) concoction — the only thing I’ll drink there now.

Genuinely one of the worst bar experiences I’ve had in the city — twice. It’s laughable that it has more than one star. Zero chance any of the positive reviews are from real people. Came here shortly after it opened and had a beer, the bartender was dismissive and acted like he was doing us a favor to serve us when we were literally the only people in the bar at 8 on a Friday. We left pretty quickly and assumed it was just a rough start for a new place. Fast forward to nearly a year later, we gave it a second chance. Female blonde middle-aged bartender ignored us when we came in, when finally prompted by a younger guy(guessing it was a friend or another employee who was off duty) at the bar to acknowledge us, she was unbelievably rude and sounded like she was drunk. Slammed a bucket down on the bar to fill with beers(no ice) and continued slurring to two people sitting at the end of the bar. We tried to be positive; smiled and thanked her when she finally brought us menus literally 20 minutes after we had been seated(after we had to go back to the bar to ask for a third time). We ordered food, which was clearly a mistake. Whoever said the Reuben is amazing is a joke. Or has never eaten human food. Or thinks amazing means«burnt gristle on soggy bread with ketchup and mayo.» The coup de grace was when we asked for a round of mint juleps. Yes, we’re idiots for going to an Irish bar on derby day, but it was a last-minute decision while walking in the area and we assumed it would at least be passable. We came back to the bar(which was empty except for two regulars) and the younger guy at the end said, «I think you have customers.» She actually looked at us, turned away and said, «no, they’re fine.» Guy says, «no, I think they want something.» She huffs over to us and says«you don’t need anything.» We say, «actually, we’d like a round of mint juleps before the derby kicks off.» Bartender said«you want shots, then?» and we said«…no, we want mint juleps.» She proceeded to pull out shot glasses, and the same guy finally explained that NO, mint juleps are not shots, they’re drinks made with fresh mint and bourbon. She interrupted him, yelled that she knew what she was doing, and stormed away from the bar. Confused, we slowly walked back to our table to finish our beers and get the hell out. Ten minutes later, the bartender brings a round of CLEAR drinks with some mint floating in them, and our check. We asked what they were and the bartender yelled at us «what you ordered.» We each took a sip… Simultaneous bitter face. SHEUSEDVANILLAVODKATOMAKE A MINTJULEP. No bourbon. Vanilla. Vodka. I understand if you don’t have fresh mint. I understand if you don’t know the recipe and need us to explain it. This was incomprehensible. In summary: Rude bartenders, poor service, terrible food, VANILLAVODKA. I wish the owners the best of luck, but you need to fire all of your staff and start from scratch. Guessing this place will be out of business in the next few months.

Fun little bar not too crowded on weekends. Their Friday fish fry special on Fridays is pretty good. Their drink prices are very reasonable as well.

Don’t come hungry. The 3 stars is for the staff and the decent beer selection/price. First I will say that the owner/bartender lady was fantastic and I do want to support the location in the hood(and the patio later on). It is very«cheers”-ish locals spot. However…it was a really gross/frustrating food experience 1) Had heard about the mozzarella sticks, got them, the batter that they dip them in is good but the inside was definitely a frozen piece of string cheese. super nasty. 2) tried to order the burger… the griddle is broken, sorry the kitchen is pretty smokey right now. Ok then, I’ll have the pulled pork. We’re out of that. May be taking it off the menu. Ohhhhh K then the wrap? nope. Well I guess I’ll just have fries. Husband did enjoy his Reuben though. and they comped the app/fries because their customer service is outstanding.

When we moved to Chicago, my roommates and I felt a little displaced. Our friends were either a lengthy el ride away or in another state entirely. Upon waking into McGuigan’s we were welcomed and instantly became close with the staff there. Each person in the bar talks and engages with you like you’d been coming there for years. The prices are reasonable, the food is satisfying and the staff is incredible. If you’re looking for a friendly neighborhood bar, this is your place. Also, Bloody Marys are always $ 5 and some of the best I’ve had in the city. Go there on Mondays for a $ 3 cooked-to-order steak burger and fries(phenomenal). Oh…and one more thing: Best. Mozzarella. Sticks. Ever.

Stars: Nice space. Nice Location. Super-duper nice staff. Substantial drinks. Sweet Baby Satan this is the worst music heard since«Now That’s What I Call Music» compilation last advertised on TV when I was in high school. And that is just embarrassing. I’m out drinking with Scots and nothing can make the sound tolerable… who picks this? Spice Girls for two songs? Followed by Britney? Egad. Someone lost a bet? There was even a male patron in an ugly Christmas sweater dancing with remarkable enthusiasm and very little skill. Holidays or Alcohol? You judge. I’ll drink. So the fellas resolve to devour wings and meatballs until a tolerable song is played but the selection is kryptonite to a party. This is a fantastic space with enthusiastic patrons, better can be done… Bounce the Britney and Spice Girls please, please I beg of management.

I live just down the street from this little gem. I waited for months and months for them to get food and they did a great job of prefecting it! I had the burger and my boyfriend had the corned beef… both were great. The serive was a little slow just because they only had 1 server but didnt hurt our experience. can’t wait to go back!

The people are awesome and for a new bar that is getting going I had a great time watching college football on Saturday night. It is right in the neighborhood and a good bit better than Waterhouse. The servers actually are attentive and try to get you drunk sometimes. Best drink/shot specials you may see

This bar just opened up in my neighborhood and I’m definitely a fan. The drink specials are amazing right now. Specials on some nights include $ 2.50 miller lites! They have a bunch of televisions for sports viewing. We came here to watch the Monday Night Bears game. Unfortunately, we were hungry and their kitchen hasn’t open yet. However, they allowed us to order food and eat it at the bar if we wanted. They also brought out a couple of bowls of peanuts to tide us over. Granted this place isn’t a popular hang out, considering we were the only ones in the bar and the Bears were on MNF, but what do you expect it just opened. Over time this bar definitely has a lot of potential. The bartender and manager were both extremely friendly and gave us a tour of the outside patio/beer garden that will be open in the summers. It also looks like it has lots of potential. If you want: cheap drinks, nice, new décor, and to watch live sporting events while avoiding huge crowds, this is the place to be. Well at least for now!
