Even though this place is closed, I feel like I went here enough, that I should put my two cents in. I mainly went here for drinks, but every so often, I’d have lunch or dinner. I would’ve only recommend this place for drinks and some food. I don’t think it lent itself for being a very decent restaurant. They had a good craft beer selection, and a good view of Lincoln avenue. It was fun to sit at one of the window tables and watch the action on the street. Hopefully, the new owners will get it right.

Awfully Horrible. Wouldn’t let my dog rat eat here. Gastro dumb menu. The cook couldn’t even hold his. Own kitchen.

This was always my go to place in Lincoln Square. Unfortunately it will never be again. The bartender said they were closing this business soon. Given the fact that he was the most rude and obnoxious bartender that I have encountered in many years I can certainly understand why. With so many great places to eat and drink in this area, skip this losers attitude and go elsewhere.

New management team in place has really turned this place around. The burger was exceptional and service was really good. Much better vibe than before

Loved this place! Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday and sat inside. The place was pretty busy, but the service was still good. They have a huge beer selection, and our server was super great about answering questions and letting us sample beers before ordering. The food was awesome too– definitely get the 3 dips or goat cheese app! We left after a couple drinks to do some bar-hopping, but ended up coming back later to sit on the patio, which is super cute! I’ll for sure be back!

Went there for brunch today. Service was great so that’s why I have it 2 stars but chiliquilas were horrible. There was about a spoon of pork on there and it said it come with 2 eggs and had one half cooked sunny side up egg. I should have said something but my kid was with me and he was starting to get crabby so didn’t have time to wait. Another egg wouldn’t have saved the dish either. Presentation was horrible and taste was even worse. My husband has a «grilled» sandwich and the bread was soggy. Not impressed.

Really dug this palace. Outstanding food — crab cakes, organic chicken sandwich, and the«other flatbread» pizza with olives, goat cheese, and sweet grilled onions were a home run. Seriously. Come here and try this now! Great beer selection from 3 floyds and BEGYLE was good. Only thing I didn’t like was the my son’s kids burger. Def not the best quality. But add in the out door deck and great service and it was a really good experience. Come here now dude!

It’s hard to complain about bar food but this place seems to make it easy. Food was cold, vegetables weren’t fresh, and in general it was flavorless. I left unsatisfied and looking for my 4th meal.

I was in for a Blackhawks game and will say they have a great beer selection. The service was on it. I had some appetizers and were out fast over all good place.

Man, I don’t know what happened to this place. We used to eat here about 2 – 3 years ago and loved it. We went back today with our 4 year old twins and were very disappointed. It was just before noon on a Saturday and there were only 3 other tables occupied. We ordered the kids food right away and it came in a very timely manner and was fine. The salads that my wife and I ordered took over 35 minutes. 3 other tables… SALADS! OK, whatever… we had nothing else going on. The chicken on my salad was paper thin and overcooked so basically rubber. There are only 3 – 4 salads on the menu(none entrée) and 4 – 5 sandwiches so the selection is very limited. The pita bread and dips were OK. The worst part of the whole experience was when I took my 4 yr old son to the restroom. There were two urinals and one«regular» toilet and they were all covered in urine and pubic hairs. I felt like I was at a college bar. I literally walked him out and asked if he could wait until we got home, he said«no» so I had to go back in and clean the toilet myself! How hard is it to clean your toilets every night? The place just opened for the day and the toilets were disgusting. This tells me the owner/manager simply does not care about the establishment. Too bad this place went down. We really liked it a couple of years ago. This neighborhood deserves better at such a prime corner.

I’ll admit, I’m not easy to please. But I don’t think that has any bearing on my review. The good part is the bar program, which is decent, and if you live close, makes it a great choice to grab a drinks. Hopefully you aren’t hungry when you come here. I’ve given the food here several shots, and I just would not recommend eating here. One time, I stopped eating a veggie burger a couple bites in because it was so awful and my wife could not stomach her microwaved [previously] frozen pretzels in beer cheese. I don’t know how you mess this stuff up. We hardly ate any of our food and when we told the waitress how disappointed we were she took our plates away and came back with our check. I’m not asking for free food. Maybe an apology, or an offer to get something else we might be satisfied with. Nope… just the check. Don’t eat food here. Go to Bad Apple. Or Fork. Or… even The Daily. Fountainhead. Tiny Lounge. I could go on.

This is based on one visit and eating one thing. Those of you who follow my Unilocaling know that I am at OldTownSchool more than once a week. I am usually eating in Lincoln Square when i am there. I have walked past this place a million times and noticed that they celebrated Taco Tuesday. We had excellent $ 6 fish tacos(i am aware of what Tony Bourdain says about eating fish on tuesday – these are the leftover scraps but fine for tacos). Also, for $ 2, they have fresh chips and salsa. Lovely young man unlocking the door, running the bar and taking the order when we walked in at the 5pm opening time. Overall, excellent experience – at least A-OK

Food was delicious, server was very nice– but they seemed to be understaffed for a Sunday. Was a little longer wait than I am used to for fun

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning with a girlfriend and her dog. I love any place where there is available outdoor seating, so I was automatically happy. The food was good(hard go go wrong with eggs.) and the service was just fine.

Grabbed a midnight drink here a couple of weeks ago with some friends that live in the area. I was overly drunk from a friend’s wedding, but I remember having a high alcohol content beer and a vodka cocktail Good staff and nice sized joint.

I went here recently with a Meetup group and they let us reserve the back room on a Sunday night. Our waitress was really cool and even gave us separate checks, even though we had a party of 10 or 11. The food is great. I loved my fish tacos. They were fresh and delicious and my hard cider wasn’t bad either. I would deifinitely rate them and A++

I really like this place; great bar menu, tasty and creative food. The service is always spot on. They even have reading glasses! My one tip? Ditch the scented candles. Not only are many people«scentsative» but in a food place it’s distracting from what should be center stage, the food.

I too, as many have recently mentioned, have been coming here for years. They used to have amazing food. I remember having an amazing oxtail hash and kobe beef burger… lots of items have disappeared off the menu. The food I last had was not good at all either. I have not been back there in close to a year for that matter. The food is what had me going back. I think either it was sold or management changed. not sure but something changed. and not for the best. You used to rock Lat 42!!! :(sad face.

Brunch destination and it hit the mark. I previously had a not-so-good encounter for drinks on the patio as the beer menu is extensive but a bit pricey. I felt I needed to give them a fair shake and it was a good decision. The brunch menu is very modestly priced which I am always happy to see. Everything is under ten bucks for the most part. I couldn’t have been happier to see my two favorite breakfast items combined… biscuits and benedict. Buttermilk biscuits, sausage patties, poached eggs and sausage gravy. I could have licked the plate. The lady friend had the BEAT sandwich consisting of bacon, fried egg, avocado, tomato, swiss cheese on toasted bread. I had to sneak a bite of course and it was very well put together. She concurred which surprised me a bit. Service was friendly and above average. A great spot for brunch to kick back and relax. Catch a Sunday football game or just chat it up. So if you find yourself on the North side check-in at 42 degrees for some affordable eats.
