I have seen many performances in this space and just love it! Bar in the back, stage in the front, great sound/lighting. It is a great«small» space. Highly recommend catching a show here… like one of Hell in a Handbag’s productions!

Favorite place to get a bite and cocktail in Andersonville. The two Jason’s that work there are the best.

Mary’s Attic has re-modeled since we went in 2014. It is more audience friendly. They removed the bar from the middle of the room and pushed it to the back of the theater. This allows more space and easier to view the show. They’ve added some cushy chairs. Seating is always 1st come, 1st served. Plays are put on by local performers. For a small venue, it’s a good, cheap enjoyable evening. We saw Christmas Dearest. Hilarious! It’s based on «loving» mom Joan Crawford and her interaction with fellow actors, her assistant and her«lovely»(crazy) daughter. Grab a burger 1st at Hamburger Mary’s and then venture upstairs to Mary’s Attic. Check their website for upcoming shows.

Great remodel of this staple LGBTQ bar in Andersonville. Better access to bar and better separation of dance floor area when in use. Still a great mix of young, «older,» girls, boys and LGBT friendlies.

I am somewhat of a regular there(mostly go to the restaurant) but last night(06⁄20) me and a few friends went here for dancing and music. There was a large female D.J. and she was with out a doubt the most rude and ignorant person I have dealt with in a while. I tipped her $ 5.00 to play a song and when I went back to request another song a few songs later she told me no, I wasn’t asking for anything nasty. We were the only people dancing and there was only about 5 other people in the bar. She told me that I would need to pay her again to play another song. All I can say is that I will never be back and I cannot wait for Replay & Elixir to open next door. I bet they will have better service there.

Great dj! I don’t drink so I can’t comment on the drinks. I went one random Saturday night and there were barely any people. =( I have been come here before and it seemed to be a decent mix of gays, lesbians, and straight people. I would have preferred more 20 something lesbians. I’m willing to come back just too see if I caught them on a slow night or something.

Went here for a musical last night and the place was roasting. The musical was great but the AC was apparently broken but no one ever addresses it. After the show, I went to talk with the manager and while they’re been«trying to fix it» they didn’t. Now I understand that these things happen but what I didn’t appreciate was the lack of honesty or empathy about the situation. «What do you want me to do» the manager said… well, first address it to the crowd of 60 people, then get everyone some water and maybe even buy everyone a drink for OUR inconvenience in YOUR establishment… That’s what a good manager or owner would have done. Won’t be patronizing Mary’s Attic or Hamburger Mary’s for some time!

We really enjoyed ourselves at Mary’s attic for«Boeing Boeing». Before the play, we enjoyed dinner downstairs at Hamburger Mary’s. The staff were very friendly and the turkey burger was delicious. Our waiter suggested that we bring out drinks upstairs to the play, which was a great idea. The theater is a mix between a traditional theater, and a bar, with normal seating and high tops and even seating at an upstairs bar and a couch or two. So one can actually get a drink during the play. It’s a fun comfortable way to enjoy an evening. The beer selection was not bad and the bartenders were super friendly. «Boeing Boeing» was a funny show, and the actors were talented and invested. I’d like to return to Mary’s Attic for their next performance.

Came to Mary’s Attic for the first time; didn’t really know what to expect. We’d bought tickets online for«The Book of Merman», which is a spoof of «Book of Mormon» the Broadway musical, so it’s really a spoof of a spoof. It’s a small venue for live performances, but in my opinion, that wade it all the better! We had a great, great, great time… the actors were top-notch and I’m probably going to come back and see this show again!

Mary’s Attic is just a damn good time! The employees here are super nice especially the bartenders. The drinks are good cheap drinks($ 5 for a vodka soda don’t mind if I do). The DJ plays music that gets people up and on to the dance floor. This place is definitely a change of pace from the bars in Boystown… a mix crowd that is just having fun with no judgement. I recommend trying this place out.

My house guests and I went on Sunday and had such an amazing blast doing kareoke. There a stage, plenty of tables and standing room. It was amazing :-)

The attic is where it is at I love the upstairs because of karaōke night I love you on Wednesdays and chill out with a couple of friends watch a little bit of karaōke and possibly do it if I feel in the mood. Karaōke host is phenomenal and the bartenders are wonderful they’re very tentative and always make sure I am taken care of. if you are looking for a good weekday hangout karaōke is the way to go!

Mary’s Attic is the bar above Hamburger Mary’s that has a stage, and karaōke on Wednesdays. Maryoke Wednesdays! The bartenders are quick, helpful, friendly– the specials are good. As far as Maryoke, crowd response can be tepid at times, and it’s not as intimate as other karaōke. I had a good time, but would probably come back with a large group next time.

First and foremost, I am a straight female with a boyfriend. Second, I went with a group of co workers for a going away get together. With that said, I had a blast! Sunday night around 10:30 pm. There was a lot of people without being overcrowded. Crowd was diverse. I saw both straights and gays and perhaps some in betweens. No one got upset that my friends and I were kind of just hogging a corner/side of the bar by the stairs. That, I was surprised with. People passing through would just politely say excuse me and make their way. Karaōke. Amazing song selection. Amazing diva host. Hilarious commentary. Even a big box of props open for use! Isnt that fun?! There was crazy good and crazy bad singers alike. But I think you need both for good fun drunken entertainment. Super cute layout. It really does look like an old attic. Uniqueness and authenticity. Dimly lit which is always nice. Only missing one star solely because I feel like we didn’t have an option to sit because there weren’t enough chairs/tables. Maybe I just happened to be there at a really busy time, which I’m assuming. We had a great time regardless though.

I can’t say enough how much I LOVE the staff at this bar. Always friendly and strangely all attractive. I almost exclusively come here for karaōke and the outrageously huge song selection with the ability to change the key of the song.(Something you don’t get everywhere) The drinks are free pour so if you treat your bartenders well, they will treat you well. The food is typical bar food, but the drinks, friendly staff, clientele, and laughs more than make up for the food menu. Definitely worth a wednesday/sunday night venture! And Sunday is $ 3 domestics and $ 4 wells! ;-)

Mary’s Attic sounds like a VC Andrews book. But it’s the top floor of Hamburger Mary’s and Mary’s Rec room. It’s a BAR. Meeting friends and the karaōke were the main howcomes why we went. The first singer we saw performed«Into the Great Wide Open» rather dejectedly. I happen to love that song but didn’t take umbrage. Maybe he was emo. Of course, there were some campy songs/duets. Complete with butt shaking. And a guy did«Thunderball» from James Bond. He sounded/looked exactly like Steven Wright as a shoe gazer. There’s 3,000 songs in the catalog and it’s hosted by a diva. Of course, my friends performed with pastiche. I cheered my ass off for all of the performers. There’s a couch, a bed(ha), great views, and they play campy films and the lyrics all over. The patrons are friendly. Worth checking out and maybe you’ll see me there singing my heart out to «Go Your Own Way» or Duran Duran.

I came here to see a friend perform last night. Every third Thursday, OUTROCK, a monthly rock show of LGBTQ musicians perform their medleys. There was a $ 5 cover to enter this venue, but it was so worth it. I believe the performances begin at 930pm and end at 12am. The attic is definitely an intimate setting and makes for good times. I felt that everyone here was friendly. I even was able to order a couple of appetizers here so that was great because I was so hungry. I think the fried green beans were the best. Now I am just curious as to what other events they have. The closest red line stop is Berywn, which is 0.6 miles. In retrospect, I’d probably take the bus or drive here.

CTA-gay cabaret show!!! For $ 10??? I am in! So a friend of a friend performs in this show and we all trekked up there on a Wednesday night to support and get some good laughs. Man I was so glad I did! This show was HILARIOUS. It’s all about what happens on the CTA. Too funny and the performers were great. I never knew that Hamburger Mary’s had an upstairs, etc. I also didnt know that they brewed their own beer. I had the bombshell and it was light and refreshing as I was laughing my ass off at the show. I would definitely go back. Check it out if you havent… a cheap night with a little different flair than a standard night :)

Went here with about 20 people for some Sunday night Karaōke… 1. I love, love, love the host! Funny, check! Attitude, check! Drag Queen, check! 2. A karaōke place where people can actually sing? Hell yes! Some guy was busting out Michael Jackson and nailing it! The crowd went wild each and every time he sang. Wow! 3. 3,000 songs? There’s no way you can’t find something to sing… 4. Cheap beer? Ummm hmmm… I think my bud light bottles were $ 3. I will be back time and time again. Can’t wait to try the food!
