The food at Lucky’s wasn’t bad. It’s a shame that this location closed.

Great sandwiches and cocktail specials! Just like the show, these are HUGE and delicious. I got the Cheesesteak and asked for the fries on the side(If you don’t ask, they will come right on the sandwich). The coleslaw has a kick of spicy to it. Boyfriend got the Americana, both were delicious! Service is great here as well. We sat up at the bar and the bartender was the right mixture of chatty and helpful.

worse service than Chinatown even there’s barely anyone in the place. Save yourself and go somewhere else. No wonder they are dead even when the Bulls game is on.

Lucky’s Sandwich Company is a fantastic place to grab a drink, catch up with friends, or enjoy a game on TV. The people that work here are awesome. Although they only have one vegetarian sandwich(other than grilled cheese), it is tasty and delightful! Service: The best! Food: Great! Sandwiches come packed with fries(seriously, check out some of the pictures) Value: Good! They have weekly deals so keep an eye out.

My husband and I ate at Lucky’s for the first time and it will definitely be the last time. We ordered the burger and chicken sandwich — and both sandwiches were absolutely terrible. I question the meat they used because the chicken and especially the meat in the burger was dry and just tough. We probably should have ordered sandwiches instead. =(

WAS a customer for over 2 years, but never going back. Found 10HAIRS in my seasoned fries, stopped counting after that.(Trust me, there were many more) My friend found several hairs in her cheese fries as well. No manager on duty. Called back 3 times to speak to a manager. Employees were extremely rude and not helpful. I wish I did not have to write this review. Truly disappointed and pretty grossed out

I have to say I was really excited to visit Lucky’s. There is a lot of hype about how amazing the sandwiches are here, so one night when me and my BF were hungry for a late dinner we decided to check this place out. First, the ambience. This is a small bar, and has a very chill college vibe to it. We went on a Tuesday night, there were literally only two other people there and they were just having drinks. However, I know this place is known to get packed on the weekends. Next, the service. The waiter(who was also the bartender) was quick to get us menus and answer any questions we had about the food. He was generally friendly and attentive. Last, the food. This is where Lucky’s really fell flat. We ordered a steak sandwich with the works which included tomato and Lucky’s famous coleslaw. We also ordered wings. The wings were a good deal at 10 wings for $ 8, and they allowed us to split the wings, picking two different flavors! The sandwich was mediocre at best. The bread was soft but was way too doughy and had no flavor. The sandwich had hardly any meat or cheese on it. I’m not sure about you but I expect a philly cheese steak to be packed with meat. While I will say the coleslaw had great flavor and texture, it wasn’t enough to redeem this sandwich. The sandwich was served with fries. The fries were good, nothing amazing, and I felt the portion was much too small. The only redeeming food: the wings! The wings were super fresh, hot, and crispy. However, even these showed inconsistency. The chipotle BBQ sauce was just ok, and there wasn’t enough on the wings. However, the buffalo sauce was excellent and the wings had the perfect amount of sauce on them. We devoured the buffalo wings. However, good buffalo wings doesn’t make up for the mediocre quality of sandwiches from a bar best known for its sandwiches. We might be back for the wings some day, but not any time soon.

Amazingly delicious sandwiches that are the size of your head. So difficult to choose which to eat — and it’s honestly best to share just in case you don’t finish. Unfortunately, our server was fairly rude, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Worth a visit if you are wandering around Wicker Park area!

This review is more about the service than anything else. I have been to the location on Clark before and the food was great so I told me friends we had to go when we were on our trip to Chicago. We were staying closer to the Maxwell location so we decided to go there instead. When we arrived there were four tables occupied, so it looked like service should be good. It took fifteen minutes for someone to take our drink order. She appeared to be the bartender and was covering for the waitress, so no worries on the initial wait. She greets me with«What do you want, red hat.» Not a typical greeting from a server, but once again, not a huge deal. After the order, it took another fifteen minutes to get the drinks. One soda and one Bloody Mary, not exactly asking for a lot. The major problem came after that. It took about 45 minutes to get our sandwiches. If the waitress would have been apologetic, I would not have been upset. Instead, we have the bartender making excuses and says«it’s taking a long time. I thought the cooks were Mexicans, not Mexicants». As a Mexican who happens to be light skinned enough for it not to be noticed, this is where I lost my patience. Just because I don’t appear to be the race that you’re insulting doesn’t mean it’s ok to say. Rather than making a scene like I might have had this not been with friends, I decided to write this review and let everyone know what kind of staff you have working for you. I will definitely not be returning to Lucky’s in the future and I’ll take my Mexican dollars elsewhere.

The chipotle BBQ wings and garlic Parmesan wings are delish! The fries are awesome… More awesome with gravy. Lucky’s is a great, affordable wing score away from home. Our kids were full and satisfied as well.

Man vs. Food was here so the sandwiches that he tried is a must try! Soft white bread with your choice of meat and cole slaw and fries in it. Like a sandwich meal with your normal sides all in one sandwich. It’s something different! Their wings are good as well.

If I were to recommend any restaurant in university village, Lucky’s sandwich company is the place I’d say every time. They have a large but simple menu consisting of different types of fries, wings, and of course, sandwiches. They’re basically different versions of the same process of cooking but that is A-okay because the food is that well prepared. They don’t have a worst dish to me. Even their veggie sandwich was delicious! This is the perfect place to have in a college town with its bar, bar food, and food challenge(as seen on man v food). The service was great and approachable. Last time I visited, I took an order fries to-go saying I would share it with some friends who were absent. I finished it within the next hour or so because it was just that good.

What a restaurant! This place has some really great food and some friendly service. Our waitress was quick, fast, and easy to approach. The food came out quick and it was delicious. The atmosphere was lively but it is really dim in the area away from the windows. And I was confused whether it was self seat or not. We ordered wings, Parmesan garlic and chipotle barbecue sauces, and they were amazing! Just the right amount of sauce. We also got a basket of Cajun fries which were also soothing to the mouth. I have been here before and ordered sandwiches but they weren’t as good as the wings and didn’t live up to the hype. Other than that, this place has great food, service, and atmosphere. Just a few tweaks to the restaurant could be made to make it better. Definitely coming back!

My «go to» place after I do my Soldier field 10 miler or any 5ks. It’s my favorite recovery food after a good race. Plus, I had seen this place on the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food. Good sandwich selections. The Two Bagger is my go to sandwich everytime. It has pastrami and corned beef, topped with housemade slaw and crispy handcut french fries. And I usually ask them to add a fried egg. The sandwich is huge. I can barely finish one half. Good food!

Ive came here before to try their sandwhiches and they were actually good but this time I decided to try their wings and fries and I have to say it was really good(bacon cheddar fries w/ranch on the side and garlic parmigiana wings)

Luckys has one of my favorite sandiches, the two bagger. Corned Beef and Pastrami on Turano white bread. They usually serve the fries in the sandwhich. I usually ask for those on the side along with pickels. Ive tried most sandwhiches and they definitely dont dissapoint. Theres another location in Wrigleyville. They carry a great selection of craft beers if your interested.

Lucky’s is a smallish chain restaurant specializing in – you guessed it, bub – sammiches. They happen to be the size of your fist and a half, and our very nice waiter-slash-bartender said they were«Pittsburgh» style. Which apparently means big, and stuffed with fries and slaw. They’re quasi-famous for having been featured on Man vs. Food. Yeah, when your sandwich has fries and slaw in it, you can expect it would be a hit on a food-gorging show like Adam Richman’s. There are sandwich options a plenty, but the bottom line is they all come on plain white bread, slaw, and fries. The bread really detracts from the sandwich, as it’s neither strong enough to hold the sandwich’s contents, nor tasty enough to offset the messiness. Texas toast would have been a nice substitute to satisfy the latter, or a hearty chunk of focaccia for the former. I’m guessing neither is Pittsburghian enough. I actually approve of the fries plus slaw filling. Well, moreso the slaw than the fries. Maybe if there were tater tots instead? In short, it’s a very specific sandwich. My wife got the buffalo chicken, which is a spicy kick. However, the buffalo sauce does a nice job of sticking to the bread and giving it some taste, not to mention the fries and lightly flavored fries and slaw. I went with the Fredo, an Italian special that was calling for a vinaigrette to throw down some semblance of taste. As for the bar setup, the University Village location is small, with a few hightops and bar seats. It looks like a fun set-up to pack in, though I imagine it’s still more of a food joint. There are a few craft beers on tap, and the aforementioned bartender-slash-waiter was exceptionally nice. Too bad the sandwich is eminently passable.

I went here for lunch on the way to school one afternoon. It was empty which seemed strange for the lunch hour. The sandwiches are really large so I decided to get a lunch special which included chili or soup of the day. It was a chicken gumbo but it was really watery and not thick like I normally think of a gumbo being. The sandwich did not have all of the listed ingredients. One of the missing items was BACON so you know I was not happy. I really wanted to like this place but I may have to try the location closer to my house. The bartender /server did provide great service tho.

Small bar with good eats. I had the turkey & cheese the hubby had the burger, both were topped with tomato, seasoned coleslaw and FRIES… that sucker was stuffed nearly 5 inches high with fries. As the server set our sandwiches in front of us, I couldn’t help exclaim, « .HUGE! Yup, that’s what she said. There wasn’t a ton of meat in each sandwich(compared to the ratio of fries). However what turkey meat I did have was good but hubby said his burger meat wasn’t so great. The bread was simple, wonder bread on ‘roids…super thick cut but soft and airy. I wished there was more coleslaw. Then there were the fries, putting the fries inside rather than on the side gave the sandwich wicked height. I would think you could ask for fries on the side. I ended up removing most of my fries anyway in order to get a successful bite in. I’ll be the first to say, you cannot eat one of these sandwiches without looking like a slob. I loved the uniqueness of the sandwich and the divey small atmosphere. It was relatively cheap and very filling.
