I stop by once a week for wine, pizza dough, curry chicken salad, homemade croutons, fresh vegs, wonderful Greek olive oil and friendly faces. I love all the great housemade stuffs and just had to say the curry chicken soup(in the frozen case) was so, So good!

It’s impossible for this place to make anything subpar. Their food is ridiculous. Fresh and great tasting. Their prosciuttosand which might be my favorite sandwich ever. Their Frittatas are always amazing as well. I go here at least once a week! Fantastic!

I’m so glad this place is in the neighborhood. Logan Square is a bit tough for groceries; Sunrise is understocked, the Dill Pickle has a narrow focus, and Tony’s is a bit of a hike. Half Italian isn’t a full-service joint, but it fills in a lot of gaps excellently, with a really good deli(and terrific freshly made sandwiches if you want one), a small but robust collection of produce and frozen items, and a good range of imported Italian stuff. It’s perfect for a quick meal, or if you want to put something nice together on short notice. Helpful, friendly staff, too. Buono!

I’m really sad that it took me so long to finally try half Italian grocer, because I realized today that I have been missing out. We had the egg and bacon sandwich and the Italian sandwich. Both were incredible. We also added a half pound of prosciutto($ 6) with some assorted cheeses for very reasonable prices. I’ll be coming back here at least once per week.

I love Half Italian. They make the best sandwiches and everything they serve is fresh and delicious. They have a small selection of groceries and it’s a great place to pick up a meal and a bottle of wine. I stop on my way home from work because it’s right near the blue line train.

Great sandwiches, great ready-made salads, and lots of specialty groceries. They open early during the week so you can stop to grab breakfast or lunch to go before catching the train(blue line just around the corner).

I started going here when they first opened several years ago and after leaving for a few years I was thrilled to know they were still in business. Their sandwiches are fantastic and generously portioned and the soups(which seem to be a fall-winter thing) are always a thrill. As a grocer, I haven’t used them as much as I should, but they do stock a lot of unique items you won’t find easily within the Logan Square area. The staff is always very friendly and the informality of the store is what makes it a charming addition to the neighborhood. My only regret is that I no longer work from home as I once did, so lunches here are a bit rare for me these days, but you can always stop in after work and grab something to go in the early evening.

So glad I discovered this place. It’s a tiny specialty grocery store that also serves breakfast and lunch. It’s cute, casual, and quick. You stop at the deli to order your food, there’s a few tables to eat at, and you pay on your way out. I love the bacon egg arugula sandwich for only $ 6 — this is how breakfast should be! Inexpensive, no lines, no frills. Just fresh tasty food and friendly service.

Fun place for a quick meal. I had the prosciutto sandwich and thought it was delicious. Great place to duck in and grab a sandwich before you head off to your next adventure!

We popped into this gem only by accident this morning, as we were going to Chase before breakfast at Longman and Eagle. However, since we had a few extra minutes, we decided to venture into this shop, and we were met with a fantastic treat. This place smells heavenly! That is already a comforting and great way to enter a deli/grocery. Next, the shelves are stocked with interesting items… and we bought a few. The real show stealer was the sandwich I ordered to eat later in the day… I got the Lugano(turkey, bacon, tomato, arugula). Yummy. Fantastic bread. Perfectly executed. I will stop by when I am in the area because this place is delightful.

Half Italian Grocer is an Italian grocery store and deli. They also have coffee drinks, pastries and other prepared foods. The set-up was confusing for a first-time customer since you order at the back and pay at the register at the front of the store. As I placed my order, I could smell the aroma of fresh cookies right on the counter, but I also wondered if it was sanitary sans cover! My prosciutto sandwich was good but nowhere as amazing as Bari’s or Piatto Pronto’s. The bread was a chewy baguette, which is unmistakably Turano’s signature roll. The sandwich was filled with fresh argula, mozzarella, prosciutto and a house dressing. They make a solid Italian sandwich, but other places in the city sets the bar high.

I absolutely love this quaint little café. Message read your text European goodies. I also like the fact that if you would like lunch and you’re not sure what you want to order you can have this array of different types of salads. The flat rate is $ 8.99 Per pound. Generally after getting 4 to 5 items that comes out to about six dollars. And I dread posting this review because that means many more people will be coming for lunch!

Love it! I’ve been down the block from this place for 3 years(has it been around for that long? I’m not sure) but I just managed to get myself in for a quick lunch. On days when The Brown Sack is closed, namely Sunday and Monday, I always crave a good sandwich on the cheap. Luckily, this place is just that. Super fast and friendly service and a delicious All Italian(various meats and cheese with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and Italian dressing on a chewy baguette) for $ 7.50. I couldn’t even finish the generous portion of sandwich which is awesome, because I’ll have a little snack for later! Really great to know I can stop in for some fresh mozz, a baguette and some vino on days when I’m looking to have a little picnic in the park. A+

Adorable neighborhood shop. It would easily be at home on Taylor Street. Or Bensonhurst. But I am eternally grateful it is here in the LS. Great sandwiches, more olive oil than Rachel Ray would know what to do with. Staff is so very friendly. Café seats outside, if you’re into that. Try curry chicken salad sandwich.

One of my absolute favorite places to hang out in Chicago… Right in Logan Square. Best coffee, amazing salads & sandwiches. Never been disappointed!

To be honest, I kind of wish I hadn’t called my order in as it would have justified more time milling around the grocery, had I ordered upon arrival. The small store has all of the little exotic imported odds & ends you’d hope to find, plus some local and vegan surprises along the way. You get a sense that everything they carry has been thoughtfully curated, and nothing is there without reason. The sandwiches are a little different than the classic«EYEtalian» Chicago subs you might find at Bari or J.P. Graziano… the bread is a little thicker and chewier, the meats and cheeses a little thicker sliced, and instead of iceberg they apply a nice chunky layer of romaine. The«beef beauty» sandwich is truly a gem, with wonderful homemade roast beef, chilled grilled onions and horseradish mayo. Very nice. If you’re looking for delicious Italian in Logan Square, Half Italian is your place.

I do the majority of my grocery shopping here and I realize it isn’t really designed to be a fully functioning grocery store. Despite being… I dunno 1⁄10 the size of Sunrise«Fresh» Market across the street, it’s way better. Sure, it’s more expensive. But they have stuff, and it’s good. Onion, garlic, tomato, fresh basil, mushrooms, lemons, limes, lots of nice cheese, beer, wine, soy milk, flour, beans, etc. This is most of what’s on my shopping list so this place works out great for me. You would think those kinds of basic things wouldn’t be a big deal. Well they are at nearby grocery stores. Without this place(and to be fair, the farmer’s market once a week) I would not have a place to buy these very basic staples. Much appreciated!

Stayed in Logan Square during a visit to Chicago. We were looking for a late breakfast /early lunch, but didn’t want a big meal. The sandwiches at Little Italian were perfect. I had eggs & bacon with arugula & garlic mayo(a little heavy on the garlic… And I like garlic). My friend had the Italian equivalent of a BLT. The bread was the best part — crusty outside, soft & fresh inside. While grocery & wine options are limited, what they had was quality. Options to eat-in(or at a couple café tables in nice weather) or take to-go. Thanks for leading us there, Unilocal

Long gone are the days when Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Wicker Park, and Bucktown were the neighbourhoods the hip crowd sought. Logan Square is the new«in» spot and it’s quite evident with so many swanky boutique cafés and eateries opening up. Latte. BLT. Let’s just say that if you can drink a latte without sugar, the quality of the coffee is rather good. And I had lost count of the number of years that have passed since I have had a BLT. I don’t know what it was that made the sandwich so good. It could have been that the bacon wasn’t fried to a brittle crisp. It may be that it was on Italian bread rather than on bleached Wonder bread. Perhaps it was the spicy mayonnaise. I may have been all of the above because the BLT that I had was on like a light. The barista was on point. The person who was supposedly working the deli was«absent.» I ordered my sandwich at the cash register where the cashier was very accommodating. It was all good and worthy of going on my blog.
