Came here with a friend to try some Chicago style deep dish pizza after some sightseeing af Navy Pier. We were able to get a table fairly quickly, though they did let us know we could preorder our pizza and walk around for a bit before coming back, since they usually take about 45 minutes to make. We decided to just sit at our table to wait, and the wait time went by pretty quickly. Our server, Shane, was very friendly in a very genuine way, like he was having a good time and wanted to make sure we had a good time too. He made some great recommendations for salads and drinks to snack on while we our food was being prepared. I noticed he had a much bigger table that he was serving right next to us, but he still paid attention to us and made sure to check on us multiple times before and after our pizza came out. The food was good – I think I’m still a fan of thin crust pizza, but that’s just me – but the service was probably the best part. The fact that the wait time went by so quickly and that the environment was relaxed and fun made it so much better. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back if that kind of excellent service were guaranteed each time.

Staff was really friendly. I really had a good experience with the hostess and the waiters. As for the food, it was mediocre. The pizza tasted like it was frozen pizza. The breading was not the business. The only reason we tried this place is because every person we asked who lives in chicago said this place is the best deep dish. Should have tried the other places.

I can’t really complain but I believe I still like the original Gino’s east better; however, great service and I enjoyed the Caesar salad

Shane was awesome! Great service, great recommendations and location. Is seriously the best pizza I’ve ever had! Tasted good the next day even without heating. A little skeptical with the sauce on top, just keep an open mind. Appetizers are also good, keep in mind pizza takes 45min to make. Good idea to order prior to being sat.

The food and everything was all good. But my server was super rude and not professional. We waited for more than an hour, the people who waited in line after us got their pizza and me and my family had to sit there in the cold, hungry, while she’s sneaking in food behind the counter. We saw a pizza on the counter ready to be cut and taken to the table and later find out that it was ours after we asked another waitress to rush our order. So basically our waitress who supposed to serve us was serving herself on duty and left us alone for more than ten minutes. Later she didn’t even apologized, she still thought she didn’t do anything wrong even after we told her what happened. I didn’t want to start anything in the restaurant so I’m going to leave this here. P. s. We sat at the high chair area where the bar is. There is also no napkins nor forks or anything. Not surprised though, this place is not know for good service.

Don’t go to this place if it’s busy. We were told a 45 minute wait time and it ended up being nearly 2 hours and we got a burnt stuffed crust pizza with no sauce. To say it was rushed would be an overstatement. Service was also terrible, it took nearly 20 minutes to get a soft drink. I so wanted this to be a great experience and hoped to have an experience like everyone else. Maybe it was terrible because of the amount of folks there but this was the worse pizza my wife and I have ever had. Very, very disappointed.

Delicious pizza with perfect waterfalls of melted cheese. Great flavor. The sauce was seasoned well with chewy crust. Work the 40 min wait. I was done after 3 slices of the«small» pizza. Good service. Wish this was available in GA! I loved it! A lot of restaurants in Navy Pier area.

I was visiting Navy Pier with my Mother. Someone at home told her to try Giordano’s. I had it already on a previous visit to Chicago at a different location, but wanted her to have a chance to try some as well. There was a short line with an hour wait. The hostess offered to sit us at a high top table near the bar. We agreed so we could avoid the wait. The pizza was just okay. Nothing special. Not enough meat. We got half pepperoni, half sausage. Both sides included onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Sauce was on top and didn’t taste very good to me. For a traditional deep dish, the cook time is 45 minutes. The sodas were weak. Our server was one of the worst ever. Never cracked a smile. We were there for at least an hour and a half and were never offered refills on our sodas. She rarely checked on us. To her defense, she was the bartender too. We saw her pouring sodas and beers the entire time, while waiting on other tables too. It was too much. When I asked for the check and put my card in to pay, she didn’t come back. We were so ready to go after sitting there so long on stools with no backs(very uncomfortable). I took my card out and put cash inside instead. We asked another server to take the payment to her. When she came back, she slung the receipt folder on the table and some of my money came out. At that point, we asked someone for a manager. We both told him that it was wrong to have her be the bartender AND server when it was that busy. It wasn’t fair to her or the customers. But she took it too far slinging my change back at us. One of the other servers said she was from Russia or somewhere and didn’t seem surprised at her rude treatment. Maybe this is how she is all the time. If so, she needs to work elsewhere. This is a well known restaurant in a heavy tourist area. People don’t come all this way to be treated poorly. The manager apologized several times and refunded our meal. It shouldn’t have come to that. It wasn’t about the money. It was about the crap service we received. But we did appreciate him attempting to make it better. He said he’d discuss it with her. We hope so, so others don’t have to deal with it.

As a tourist, I had to try this place so take my review for what it’s worth. I’m always hesitant to give chains high praise but the pizza was amazing. Really rich and cheese heavy. A cheese pie almost. I would rank this place 2nd during my time in Chicago. I tried 3 places in a week and have it broken down like this: Lou Malnati — Perfect balance of cheese, ingredients, crust. Giordano — Intensely cheesey. Essentially a cheese pie with ingredients baked into it. Pequad — Intensely bread heavy. More crust than cheese/ingredients.

OMG — you have not had pizza until you’ve had this Chicago style pizza! My friend and I had heard of this place from others that have visited Chicago before. It totally lived up to the hype. We ordered a small with half veggie and half mushroom/chicken sausage(which doesn’t have any pork in it for those of us who don’t eat pork). The veggie side did not compare to the mushroom/chicken sausage side. The chicken sausage added flavor with its spices. This is a very indulgent experience but one you must have if you’re ever in Chicago!

Disappointing. I was in Chicago on vacation, and wanted to make two foodie stops: Al’s Beef, and Giordanos. I stopped at this location at the Navy Pier on my way back to Union Station to catch my train, thinking I’d have a nice pie for dinner instead of train food. Unfortunately, all I got was a pizza with a completely uncooked, raw dough top, that I had to peel away to salvage the rest. The remainder was good, but after paying $ 30 for a medium ‘special’, and waiting 45 minutes for them to «cook it properly», it ended up being a waste of time and money. I’ll be trying a different place next time I’m in ChiTown.

Came here to try Chicago deep dish pizza and we were not disappointed. We had the bacon BBQ chicken(standard menu item) and a sausage, mushroom, and spinach(custom pizza). Both were good. The BBQ one is sweet because of the sauce which I enjoyed. People that prefer a savory pizza preferred the other pizza. The pizza was nice and warm with a gooey cheesy center and crispy crust. The crust was good, even by itself. We got a medium, which has 8 slices and is plenty of food for 4 adults. We also tried the tiramisu. It was a nice way to finish our meal. We were pretty full so one order was enough to share. Located at the navy pier, which is in the same building as the children’s museum. The restaurant is spacious so it was comfortable to dine in. We came on a weekday evening and there was no wait for a table. It takes 45 minutes for the pizza to bake so it is probably better to order an appetizer or send someone to order beforehand if you have kids in tow. Good pizza and service. Great stop if you’re already hanging out at navy pier.

Mediocre pizza, terrible service. Our beer that we ordered as soon as we sat down came after we were done eating the deep dish pizza. We had to flag down another waiter after ours checked tables around us, made eye contact, and went back to the kitchen. The pizza had a dry exterior and so much cheese, but the sauce was good. There are way better places for pizza in this city, we will not be returning. ****** Update****** After I posted my review I was contacted by a manager and GM of this location apologizing for my bad experience and asked me back for a second try. Had I been in town longer I would have taken them up on the offer. I’m adding one star to the original rating for their prompt response and offers to make it right.

Despite their tourist-y location, the folks at Giordana’s still offer up exceptional pies at their newest Chicago location. Their thin and extra-thin pizzas are the best in the city, especially their Bacon BBQ Chicken(big enough for two, their 12-inch is $ 19.75, 14-inch is $ 25.75 and their 16-inch is $ 30.50). The Chicago-style deep dish pizzas tout a «stuffed crust», but we can’t get past the tasty thin crust offerings. Service was spot-on and, as promised, our pie was delivered within 20 minutes, a tad longer for their stuffed crusts, so order your pizza first then try the Fried Calamari($ 11), featuring tender squid, green beans, lemon rings, hot peppers and fennel served with a sweet marinara sauce.

I will never look at pizza the same again. The first stop of our Chicago weekend was trying the legendary deep dish pizza at Giordano’s. Yum. Although the wait was long, it was well worth it. For three people, we started with a hard-to-resist house salad and an extremely generous serving of bruschetta. For the main event we ordered a medium Chicago classic stuffed deep dish. I would say deep dish is more like a pie, rather than a pizza. After one slice I was feeling pretty good, but the pizza was so flavorful I had to have another slice. — Giordano’s House Salad: Spring greens, romaine, arugula, baby heirloom tomatoes, radicchio and fresh fennel tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette with shaved asiago blend. — «The Best» Ripe Tomato Bruschetta: Diced tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil on crispy garlic toasts with balsamic glaze.(In case you’re wondering, yes it was the best.) — Chicago Classic Stuffed Deep Dish: Pepperoni, mushrooms, onions & green peppers. This was the beginning of a beautiful, delicious weekend in Chicago. Next time I’d like to try the Bacon BBQ Chicken and maybe just the small size.

First official Chi Town deep dish pizza! It was OK, maybe a tad bit overhyped. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still giving it 4 stars because the service was friendly & attentive. I wasn’t as impressed as I had hoped because I’m more of a «equal sauce, equal cheese» –kind of pizza girl. & I had more cheese than sauce in my pizza. The ooey gooey cheese was yummy though! The crust was pretty delicious. You can taste the light fluffiness of it, & the hints of butter. Everything’s good with butter right?! Lol. I should mention that we ordered the fried ravioli appetizer & it came w/a side marinara(their sauce was so good, probably why I was wanting more in my pizza), & a medium half«veggie», half«the special». All 3 of us could not finish it all. Leftoverrrrrs!

I just had to get some authentic deep dish pizza while I was in town. Torn between Giordano’s and Lou Malnati’s, read reviews of both places and decided I couldn’t go wrong with either place. Giordano’s was a little closer to my location that’s where I decided to have my deep dish. Food: Since I was dinning alone I was happy to discover they had a single serving size at lunch served with a salad and made in 15 minutes versus the normal 45 minutes for the regular sizes. Pizza came out quickly, it was good but left me wondering if the regular sized ones were better. The crust was on the drier side, I’v never had deep dish but I imagined it would be have been moist or light or chewy. Perhaps the single size ends up drier since it’s harder to control the cooking time. It was good but the next time I’m here I think i’ll bring a friend and order the regular size. Service: Good service, seated quickly in the bar area. The restaurant wasn’t crowded on a Wednesday afternoon about 2 pm so no issues with attentiveness. Atmosphere: Located at the Navy Pier, the restaurant is large with an outdoor seating area. I can imagine lots of families and tourist frequenting this establishments as it has a nice family feel to it. Value: Lunch time special of the personal size pie plus a salad for less than $ 12 is a great deal. Added in my draft beer and my entire lunch tab(less tip) was less than $ 20. Overall: Good experience as I had to try it. I may come back in the future to try the full sized pie in order to compare the two.

Simply put the pizza is. out. of. this. world. I was amazed. We went at a weird time for lunch(3:30) and the restaurant was packed. We decided to go with the thin crust pizza since we didn’t want to wait 45 minutes for the stuffed pizza and it was a good decision. The pizza for two was large enough for 3! Good prices and even better pizza. Next time I’m in Chicago, I will be back!
