This little restaurant is located on the 8th floor at Bloomingdales. I was shopping with my mom and we asked an employee for a nearby bar/restaurant. She told us about forty carrots so we headed upstairs. We were welcomed right away and it didn’t take long to receive a glass of wine. This restaurant offers a lunch menu and frozen yogurt. This is not a huge restaurant but it’s the perfect size for this store. Quick and friendly service. I am so happy the employee told us about this place– I will be back soon!

What a nice surprise to be in Bloomingdales and be able to cure your sweet tooth. My girl received an offer for 2 free frozen yogurts. Yay she chose me to take part in this treat! After trying a sample of the banana frozen yogurt I was set. We got to choose one topping and I went with the Heath bar bits. Totally yummy! They also have a nice seating area or you can do like we did and randomly sit in the children’s department and catch up on each other’s lives :) Either way great place to go for a tasty treat and I must go back to try the food.

Had a really lovely lunch here today. It’s a great place to go if you’re in the area shopping by yourself bc the servers create such a calming and friendly atmosphere. The food is always just perfect in flavor, portion size, ingredients… And enough options that you can find something you like but not feel overwhelmed. Wonderful all around. I would be shocked to hear that a person had a bad experience here. Everyone seems to really take pride in what they do. (Took away one star bc there is no regular burger on the menu. Maybe a nice grass fed bison or something? Also wish there was a salmon BLT but that’s just a pipe dream perhaps…) Also, there are 2 servers and they tend to play favorites. There are several mature women who visit Forty Carrots literally daily and the servers do tend to chat with these women a lot. But it makes me feel comfortable and at ease that they take such good care of such loyal customers. I also like to imagine that one day I’ll be the little old lady that comes in everyday and grab lunch at Bloomies :) PS if something is a wrap but you want it to be a sandwich, just ask!

Staff is attentive, nice and the food is good. Tried the tuna melt which could of been grilled cheese sandwich it was great! Another time had Marlene’s chili and loved it! The place is clean and good atmosphere to visit.

My friend and I came here for lunch and had a really nice time. There is a wide selection of items ranging from salads to frozen yogurt. Obviously the items were a bit pricier since we were in Bloomingdales but nothing was TOO unreasonable. We both got two different wraps which came with a nice simple side salad. Great ingredients and portion size. I couldn’t finish the entire wrap so I was able to save the other ½ for lunch the following day. I felt the customer service was slow, as the lady was paying more attention to select tables over ours. She was nice when she interacted with us– but still I felt like we could’ve been checked up on a little more. Apparently this place is «known» for their frozen yogurts… The waitress gave my friend and I a sample and it was sub-par. For the $ 5 base price + $ 1-$ 2 per ingredient, save yourself the money go to Red Mango inside of Watertower to get your froyo fix.

I think 40 carrots is pretty magical. Healthy and delicious lunch options plus some of the best fro yo in the city, yes please! 40 Carrots serves salads, wraps, sandwiches, omelets and more. On my last visit I had the egg white omelet with swiss, mushrooms and tomatoes. It’s not the largest serving size but I enjoyed it. And pretty much every food item I see pass me when I am here looks yum. Best part? You can bunch most of the menu items with the fro yo. And 40 carrots doesn’t skimp on its fro yo. A small is generous and amazingly delicious(although the price on its own isn’t cheap).

Terrible service, slow service, and a limited menu. I will not come back here, and I do not recommend it. There are two servers to serve almost fifty people. My order was also wrong. One of the knives on the table was not washed. The waiter avoided making eye contact with us because he knew how bad his service was. He did not even come around to ask us if we needed anything, or to ask how our meals were. He did not ask me if I wanted a refill on my drink or my water. A group of people siting next to my table got their drinks first and got their food very quickly, unlike my table. I am very disappointed because I love to shop at Bloomingdale’s. I just wanted a nice meal while shopping, but I left disgusted.

I was looking for a place to eat before meeting someone at the 900 N. Michigan Ave building, and with all my dietary restrictions I was basically down to two choices. One would have been in the Hotel Dining area, the other in Bloomingdales. I chose Forty Carrots in Bloomingdales. I have never eaten there before, and what a delight! I ended up with a green salad, with fresh Mango and grilled chicken. The food was excellent. I received my food rather quickly, too, which is good since I am a slow eater. The portions are huge, and I ended up taking the other half home which provided a nice light dinner. They have freshly made lemonade, which was wonderful. My server offered a refill but I opted for a cup of hot herbal tea. When I left, the small little nook was still very busy, and with only one wait person things were really busy, though smooth running. Because there is only one person handling the entire area, it is a good idea to just plan to have a relaxing dining experience. If you are in a hurry, there is a little cafeteria type of setting in the room adjacent, and you can purchase your food and eat there. I would definitely go back and even have the same item!

Forty Carrots is a great shopping or post-workout break for me(I am a member of the Equinox gym in the basement of 900 N.) The food is healthy — but with such plentiful portions, I think of it as a bit of a splurge. My favorites are the salmon sandwich — wonderful fresh salmon, avocado and ciabatta style bread. The carrot soup is delicious and simple — the chef came out once and basically told me the recipe so I can make it myself at home. The yogurt is pricy but yummy and the service has always been good — even when I am dining solo. You’ve got the choice to sit at a table in their little café area or go for a more diner experience on stools surrounding a counter in the second room — this section is where the Bloomies employees tend to hang out. If you’ve got a Bloomingdale’s card and come here regularly — be sure to use it, after a few meals(I think it is four or five) they treat you to lunch. Yay!

I absolutely love the food and yogurt here! Service can be slow, but I have never had to wait for a table(a little different from the NYC Forty Carrots in that way!). Atmosphere is fine– very casual, and small. Overall, great spot to grab lunch while shopping in Bloomie’s!

For such an unassuming corner in Bloomie’s, Forty Carrots was a decent lunch spot. I initially came for the fresh squeezed juice and left surprisingly satisfied by their lunch portions. Okay, maybe more like stuffed silly. Their«bunched lunch» options offer you a choice between soup/salad/sandwich/froyo/fresh squeezed juice for $ 14. Instead of a variety, I got their salmon club and went bug-eyed when it arrived. I gotta hand it to them, the club was by far the most structurally sound of any sandwich I’ve ever ordered. I couldn’t complain since I got a nice bite of avocado with each chomping. Half a sammich was probably enough and then I started regretting not ordering a“bunched lunch”. Before we left I had a taste of their froyo– creamy and decent but no where near my favorite Pinkberry minicup. Much needed healthy choices to fuel a long day of shopping– skip the caffeinated dranks in the lobby for some A(apple), B(eets), and C(arrots).

Great frozen yogurt, tasty cookies, and very helpful and friendly employees. It is always such a treat to head to 40 Carrots for a Friday afternoon treat. I took away one start b/c it is so gosh darn expensive. However, the tastiness of the food and friendliness of the employees almost make up for it!

What a hidden little gem! It’s on the 8th floor and we only found Forty Carrots on Saturday because we parked in the parking garage. Up to 3 hours parking is $ 13 with a $ 10 purchase anywhere in the complex. Forty Carrots was super packed at 4 on a Saturday and a bit chaotic. They have interesting healthy drinks plus ginger beer with ginger right in it. They also have a large number of wines & alcoholic bottled beverages which surprised me. I never knew this place even existed and it’s a cute little place.

Consistently good… they went to a new healthier menu… nice and fresh… I had the chicken on ciabatta with spicy Thai noodles and a bottomless diet coke… a quick and perfect lunch fair. BTW, the Thai noodles are FABULOUS! I went to the deli counter and took some home… YUM !!!

This is now a 2 year tradition for black Friday shopping. It is a quiet oasis in the chaos of shoppers. My mother and I head out to Bloomies home store– which is always wonderful and then hit Bloomies itself. At some point we need off our feet and food. Here is where Forty Carrots steps in. I have to admit, the name and the food bar outside threw me at first– but then I realized that a cozy sit down part existed in the back and we were all set! The salads are wonderful. Large, healthy, and extremely flavorful. The sandwiches are also well flavored and healthy choices exist. Service is helpful, friendly and quick. Prices are Bloomies style so don’t expect a deal, but do expect a nice break!

I love the fro-yo here. It makes me feel nostalgic for NYC and my forays to the Bloomies on Lexington Avenue. This spot is tucked away from the hubbub of the store and is the perfect spot to get fortified for another shopping go-round. The caesar salad, which I got in a to-go container, was also delicious. This is also a good location to people watch and to eavesdrop on denizens of the gold coast. I am also a(card carrying) Bloomindgdale’s member, so the coupons that I get with my statements for $$ off of entrée selections here will keep me coming back time and again.

Forty Carrots once upon a time was named B Café(Bloomingdales Café). I think B Café was a more appropriate name since this is more a cute café feel with a lovely lunch counter and several tables then it is an all out sit down restaurant. This little gem is tucked away in the very back of the 6th floor of the 900 N. Michigan Avenue building and connected to the Bloomingdales children’s section. It’s really easy to miss and I would know nothing of it if I didn’t work in the building. It has become my «go to» lunch spot — reliable in both quality food and friendly staff. The menu consists of salads, sandwiches, and a section of entrees. All the ingredients seem fresh and healthy. Really a perfect lunch spot on the Gold Coast that is reasonably priced. They also have a smoothie and frozen yogurt bar AND a liquor license so you can get beer or wine. The smoothies and froyo I find overpriced but I guess fresh fruit, etc doesn’t come cheap. My favorite is their hearty vegetable soup and caesar salad. Their daily lunch specials are always of interest too but I find that my selections are limited since I’m pescartarian. I almost always get the baked potato, the cajun tilipia, and tomato orzo soup when I see it come up on the specials. All in all, if you’re in the area, check it out. If you work in the area, even better, you’ll likely become a regular like me.

I am a Berry Chill and Yogurtland lover but i would say the vanilla flavor of yogurt here was too creamy for my taste.(at least when comparing the flavor to traditional Fro-yo places.) Plus there was a weird chemically aftertaste. However, everyone’s taste buds are different! — at least two of my foodie friends absolutely love this place so i would check it out anywayz! I’ve heard the vanilla/chocolate combo is really good.

I am only here to review the frozen yogurt. I read about this magical stuff on one of the Unilocal threads. In fact, I think it was Sam K. who put this place on the map. I never venture into Bloomingdales, so I never even knew this tiny café existed. With six escalator flights up, I felt like it was a stairway to heaven. The consistency of the yogurt is quite thick, but not too overwhelming. This thickness helps slow the melting, which is a good thing for hotter temperatures. I only have two gripes — the cost and the messiness. I don’t think I’ve ever paid $ 7.50 for a small cup of plain yogurt and two ingredients. One of the strawberries was bruised and should’ve been tossed instead of sitting in my cup. The granola, while crunchy, was spilling everywhere on the floor. Why the heck don’t they chop the fruit? I bet I looked like a tool [or insert any other negative adjective] in the security cameras as I gnawed my way through the berries. Anyhow, this froyo is worth the occasional trip for a rewarding treat.
