I got the New England clam chowder & it was awesome. I got the piece of bread that comes with it but I could go without it, it’s not that great of bread(I rly love bread so I judge people based on their bread). To recap: soup is AMAZING. Bread is not. I’m definitely gonna go back and try the other soups. Also I wish they had bigger sizes. The bread bowl they offer is def not happening, & the«large» isn’t big enough. When I eat soup usually that’s all I eat so I like to eat a lot of it. I guess I could just get two next time…

I loved my cream of broccoli soup. But the grilled cheese is nothing to rave about.

Amazing soup and you can mix soups together. However, there are different levels price wise and I got the regular size of veggie sm chili(delicious and bread included) but it was $ 10.50! So probably will bypass this place next time and go to Chick Fil A next door.

Soupbox was a lifesaver the first time I was here several years ago! It was a cold Fall night, and my wife was feeling awful. I exited our hotel in search of some restaurant with chicken noodle soup. As fate would have it, I found Soupbox a couple of blocks away. Mind you, I was not using Unilocal back then, so finding this little gem was pure luck! Got us both their Classic Chicken Noodle soup, and it was the bomb! Tasted awesome on that frosty Fall evening. Wifey felt much better within a couple of hours. Fast forward several year later. I had to make a return visit here while we were back in Chicago. Circumstances were now different because the weather was quite hot that afternoon day. Did not stop us from enjoying some of their soup. The crew was helpful and friendly. They suggested we sample some of their offerings which we happily did. We shared a cup of their Signature Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice soup and their Thick and Rich Potato and Bacon soup. Both were so yummy! Wouldn’t hesitate to order these soups again. Highly recommend this little Gem especially on those chilly Chicago days!

Did I really just spend $ 11 for chicken and rice soup in a bread bowl? Yes, yes I did. After receiving said soup, I follow the sign pointing to the«free topping» area. A girl behind the counter rudely tells me I should have told the guy who got the soup(despite their signage saying otherwise). The bread bowl was dry and cardboard-y. Just go to Panera and save yourself the hassle.

Delicious soups, we have them delivered once a week to our office. Always make sure to get that grilled cheese on the side, but stay away from the salads… not their specialty.

The staff is comprised of fun-loving, youngsters who always have a smile on their face. Delicious Lobster Bisque but quite pricey. You can add more Lobster as a topping and don’t forget that you can sample these soups before investing in a pricey cup.

Tried the potato and clam chowder. Both really good. The place is small so might be tricky to get a table if you go at peak times. Friendly staff

Hidden upstairs is something that Chicagoans crave on a cold winters day. Wipe the snot off your nose and have some soup. Behold caldrons of about 12 selections. Let’s see about how this broccoli and white cheddar soup stacks up. To be extra edgy, I opted to top mine with shredded cheese and bacon. Because bacon my friends, well it just makes everything mo betta! The sourdough bread bowl fits a healthy sized helping of 2 ½ ladles full of creamy goodness. It’s enjoyable, I only didn’t give it a fifth star as the broccoli is lacking. More stalks and no real florets. This cruciferous veggie is vital to my fiber and detoxification process. Lol

So many soup options! The lobster bisque is my personal favorite and you can get your soup in a bread bowl if you choose. They also make a great custom grilled cheese. Soupbox is perfect for a quick lunch stop, especially on a cold day.

Was on vacay in Chitown and actually double dipped on soupbox in the same trip. So ridiculous I know. Anyway I tried the chili with a bread bowl. Chili was thick and tasty. Bread bowl was okay. It’s not necessary but good to try. Second trip I tried the hearty beef stew. Really enjoyed it but wish they put a little more meat in there to be honest. It was very flavourful though. Overall, soupbox is worth a try. I’ll be back to try the different soups one day!

Best soup I’ve ever had! I had the broccoli white cheddar soup with a chicken grilled cheese! Friendly and welcoming staff and a must do for lunch if you’re in the area !

So many different varieties of soup from chowder, tomato, chicken noodle, broccoli cheddar, orzo, and more. In addition, they have tons of toppings options for soups. They also make grilled cheese sandwiches which go great with the soups! There is a lot of table space if you want to eat in. They are friendly and I definitely recommend as a great lunch spot!

I love the idea of a soup shop with twelve varieties at the ready – but I’m disappointed by Soupbox’s execution. After sampling three or four soups, all relatively bland, I settled on the premium Italian Wedding Soup, pricey at $ 10 for a regular-sized bowl and a slice of sourdough. I was disappointed by the dime-sized meatballs, which didn’t add much flavor or texture, and the watery broth. Two stars for free samples, complimentary bread and a nice concept.

It was a cold day so soup sounded nice! Soup is tasty enough. I feel soup isn’t homemade though. They advertise as a «homemade style» soup so they are not technically false advertising. I had chicken and rice soup and it was the same soup I’ve had at the hospital cafeteria where I work. There is a place called Gruel in Dublin, Ireland. I’d say that is the best soup I’ve ever had! They are hearty and affordable. Soup eats like a meal there. But for soupbox? Meh… My regular size soup with piece of bread was $ 9 and change. I would say it’s a little steep! I would not visit here again. Nothing to rave about except the guy talking the orders was super nice and friendly. I didn’t even finish my soup because it was too heavy for my liking.

I’ve been sick with the flu for the last few days and have tried every chicken noodle soup that’s available for delivery to my apartment. DoorDash was great. Easy to order and sent me texts with updates. The soup, on the other hand, not so great. I’ve tried five different chicken noodle soups around my location of River North and both Pret a Manger and Cosí were MUCH better. It had a very strong onion taste and not many chunky vegetables. I paid extra for the bread bowl which was soft and fresh. But there was no butter. I guess I had to specify that I needed butter with my bread. Also, my husband had the clam chowder which was fishy. Yes, I know clams are seafood. But this was fishy to the point where I questioned it’s safety. Even my husband commented that it was really fishy and he eats seafood soups all the time. Personally, I think some bad clams might have hopped in the pot. The grilled cheese was very thin, similar to a panini. It wasn’t anything special. I won’t be ordering again, but I may give it another shot for dine-in.

Soup was amazing! A lot of different flavors and definitely hit the spot on a cold day. I would have given 5 stars if the price was more reasonable. We bought two soups… no drink, no sides, nothing extra and it was $ 20. Yikes! For two«regular» size soups thats kind of ridiculous. Also, the service was pretty poor. The girl doing the ordering had no smile and looked like she was having the most miserable day, kind of a downer being a tourist but the soup made up for it.

whoa. I used to come here ALL the time, literally like once a week to get my boyfriend and I some delicious soup and grilled cheese for takeout. However, the other day I was making my weekly stop and noticed the menu board had changed(cute) yet after looking more closely i noticed the prices have also changed.(not so cute). I always thought this place was a wee bit pricey just for being a soup joint… But now… almost 11 bucks for a lobster bisque soup? plus 3.99 for grilled cheese, I got two soups and two grilled cheeses and it was 30 bucks with tax… hello inflation! what gives soupbox?! Eh…kinda bummed. I feel like our weekly relationship is over.

The ONLY reason I’m giving the Soupbox a 3 star is for the price for a large soup and a piece of bread $ 9.37 and it was Tomato Bisque at that. I love soup, I could have it for breakfast lunch and dinner. I stopped by to warm myself up with soup at 11:30 on a Saturday. Place was empty I was greeted immediately. I chose the large Tomato Bisque to go. Service was great. Soup was hot and very good along with the fresh sour dough bread that came with it. It’s just really difficult to get by the price for Tomato Soup.

I always seem to stumble along this place when I visit and never disappoints. The soup is piping hot, full of flavor and you can sample before purchase! Brilliant! Love the mix and match possibilities for the indecisive want to have it all person like myself. Lobster bisque is magnificent and I got mine paired with creamy asparagus in a bread bowl. Was so full after soup but so worth it!

It’s a very nice little eatery on Chicago Ave. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They let you sample any soup before you decide which one to get. There is quite a selection of soups, including clam chowder, chicken noodles, etc. We ordered the lobster bisque soup. It was rich and creamy with a good taste of lobster. For veggies, we chose the apple berry salad. They put together the romaine lettuce, cranberries, apples, etc on the spot. It tasted very fresh and fruity. The only thing I felt could be better was to serve the salad on a plate rather than putting it in a small plastic container. Overall, we enjoyed the food, as well as the homey and cozy atmosphere.

I ended up here after a quick Unilocal search showed it was within walking distance from my hotel. They had a dozen soups to choose from with a few vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options too. The rotation changes daily but they have the current lineup posted on their website( ) after 10:30am. An employee said that the Lobster Bisque, Chicken Noodle and Chicken & Wild Rice were the most popular flavors. I liked that they had sample cups(about the size of a tablespoon) to let customers taste the soups before ordering one. They have mix-ins like tomato, bacon, onion and mushroom you can add to any soup for .50 or $ 1 extra. They will also let customers mix together any two soups if they’re feeling adventurous. My pick was the Lobster Bisque. It was nicely seasoned with a good seafood flavor. I would have liked to see a tiny lump or two of lobster but I guess they can’t work that magic at a $ 7.25 price point. At least the soup came with a nice chunk of bread. I made it a combo with a Grilled Cheese although I should have ordered a salad because the sandwich was too much with the heavy soup. It was a regular grilled cheese, the kind some college students make using an iron. My meal was ok but I think I would have appreciated the experience more on a winter Chicago day.

If I could bring back anything to California from Chicago, I’d bring back deep dish pizzas… and SoupBox! What a terrific and comforting idea to have a restaurant specialize in high quality, daily-made soups. SoupBox is nothing like Souplantion and the differences begin with how the soups are presented. They’re all placed in mini-black cauldrons that remind me of the magical world of Harry Potter. Then there’s the 12 extraordinary, unique flavors that are available to taste and enjoy. Each one is hearty, fulfilling, and wildly flavorful. They also have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options! My favorites were Signature Lobster Bisque($ 7.25), New England Clam Chowder($ 7.25), and the signature Creamy Chicken & Wild Rice($ 6.95). I can only imagine how satisfying each one can be on a chilly, Snow-filled day in Chicago. The only downside is that all those prices listed above are expensive for such a small bowl of soup. I also wish there would be more clams and chicken, in the respective meals. While the lobster bisque is the best I’ve ever tasted(outside Mastro’s), it could use real chunks of lobster meat to add some texture. I’d recommend adding turkey for an extra $ 1. Each bowl comes with your choice of cheese and complimentary bread. You can buy grilled cheese sandwiches with any soup for only $ 2.99 too. —- Conclusion: A fantastic concept that would be a hit across the US! During those Winter months, this place would be a godsend. At first taste, you’ll easily see why it was voted the best soup in Chicago by locals. Extra Notes: –Accepts credit card –Brilliant and extremely patient service –Décor could use some changing as the floors are dark, and walls need to be repainted – Kind of seems like a dreary and gloomy place –Tables are uneven and rock, be careful –Located on top of Streeter’s Tavern. A small flight of stairs will lead you to SoupBox. –No restrooms

I once came here years ago and had amazing soup. No idea what kind it was, just remember it was amazing. Found myself over here today at lunchtime(well, 2:00, but lunchtime for me). I had been thinking of lobster bisque, so I ordered a regular size and it came with choice of sourdough or multigrain bread. I opted for sourdough. It was quite tasty. The lobster bisque was also really good… Only thing, there were NO lobster pieces in it! I just looked it up — bisque do not have chunks, chowders do, so that falls on my lack of soup knowledge! So, no loss of stars there. I give four stars instead of five simply because the price seems way too high for a cup of soup. People were friendly, service was quick and I left full and happy! Oh and they do samples, I tried the cream of mushroom as well — really good, with chunks of mushrooms(if you’re into that kind of thing!)

Bonne petite adresse a retenir. Personnel aimable, rien a dire !
