Longtime Giordano’s aficionado here. It’s my favorite pizza in the city. I went to this location years ago and got lousy service. Tried it again last month and the service was possibly worse. We consistently had to beg for things we wanted like a table not in front of the emergency exit so we didn’t freeze, salad, water, etc. Not dogging them for the pizza wait, as that’s to be expected, but it wasn’t cut very well. We ordered it half with one topping and half with another and it wasn’t cut that way. A little customer service goes a long way. These guys are coasting by on their location. I’ll be visiting other ones from here on out.

A friend of mine recommended this place while in my trip in Chicago, he said it had the best deep dish pizza. So u e only had deep dish at uno’s and somewhere else, I do t recall the name, but yes Giordanos was definitely the best pizza I’ve ever had. I’m sure there’s better deep dish pizzas out there in ChiTown, but so far this is my fave!!! The pizza wait is quite long so go if you have time on your hands. Definitely want to sit and enjoy this pie anyway!

This was my first time ever being in Chicago and I knew I couldn’t leave the city nor the state w/o having Chicago style pizza. Boy…this was definitely not what I imagined. Everyone talks about chicago style pizza and me being from NYC I have my own style of pizza that’s the die for but since I love my city Chicago style was second best :) PROS — In NYC we call this kinda pizza stuffed. I was shocked to see the sauce on top. I ordered sausage and it was FABULOUS!!! — Pizza’s are HUGE!!! I am jealous of your gut if you can eat a whole one. — Very flavorful — Loved every bit CONS — Takes very long to come out so enjoy some apps — The hot chocolate SUCKSBALLS — The minestrone soup tastes worse that progresso Total damage for two people: $ 15.59

#26 So you say you love Chicago deep-dish pizza? If you think you have had Chicago stuffed pizza outside of Chicago, you need to think again. You simply must try one of Chicago’s deep-dish pizzerias IN Chicago. Let Giordano’s be at the top of your list – they do not disappoint. I live in the Bay Area and yes, there are two spots that I can ‘settle’ for, but neither can measure up to a real life experience in a true Chicago pizzeria like the one we had on the Magnificent Mile at Giordano’s. I lived in Chi-Town when I was in my teenage years and that is when I discovered what real pizza was supposed to taste like. Truth be told: Nobody can prepare a true, beautiful Chicago Pizza outside of Chicago. Whenever I am in town my one and only goal is to eat this delicacy. Very popular, very trendy, but very delicious. Yes, Giordano’s is a chain – a HUGE chain restaurant; however, they deliver what no other pizzeria on the planet can. From the atmosphere, to the impeccable service, to the perfection they call«stuffed pizza,» Giordano’s is number one. True Chicago deep-dish pizza takes much longer than any other pizza to make, and longer than pretty much any other meal we ever chose when we go out for dinner. That being said, you know this pizza is amazing if people will sit and chill about 45 minutes to receive their food. When I was younger we would go to Leona’s near the Belmont L, now we visit Lou Malnati’s(two different locations we love), but there is something a little magical about Giordano’s. It is definitely my favorite in the city. The crust is so delicious bursting with a rich, flavor that flakes a bit as you drive your fork through each bite. The toppings are plentiful and the cheese, OMG the cheese… Wooooooow! Service was amazing at Giordano’s. Because their stuffed pizzas are so big and are baked to order, they take 45 minutes or a little longer to bake. Giordano’s offers several appetizers, salads and the like so you can curb your hunger while you wait for that slice of heaven to arrive at your table. Our server(Alex, I think, maybe Alice – I feel bad for not remembering as she was wonderful) was great. She suggested several beers, some calamari, bruschetta, we also shared a BIG harvest salad and bread while we waited for our super amazing pizza to arrive, and that just gave us plenty of time to drink and sample each other’s apps. Giordano’s pizza is referred to as stuffed pizza and I think it might be because I was so super stuffed when we left – no but seriously, whatever you call it, «deep-dish» or «stuffed» it is amazing. We had the Giordano’s specialty stuffed pizza, a pizza that is over 2″ in height(Nick said it was 4″, but I don’t know), replete with tons of sausage, a multitude of both green peppers and onions, then buried deep beneath a mountain of cheese and finally neatly tucked under a layer of delicious, well seasoned, thick tomato purée atop the pie. It is making me crave Giordano’s right now while I am writing my review, but alas, I am already home in the Bay, far away from the love of my life: Giordano’s Stuffed Deep-Dish Pizza. Stephani Smiles for Giordano’s ;) #gohungryleavestuffed

I had came here about 3 years ago, but didn’t remember how the pizza tasted to be honest. I decided to give it another try since I was on vacation in Chicago and wanted to try the deep dish pizza. We ordered the deep dish Chicago pizza which was very tasty. The pizza was perfect, but we didn’t finish it all since we had fried mozarella cheese and Cesar salads to start. Overall great experience and our waitress was very attentive. I will recommend this to friends and family for sure.

Prepare for a 45 minute wait. The pizza itself was very good, have garlic added it makes it amazing. It has a lot of cheese. The service provided by Max was awesome.

Grabbed a deep dish late after the Cubs Convention. Typical 45 minutes to bake the deep dish pie. In my opinion, not as good as Gino’s East, but still delicious. I actually like their crust a little better than Gino’s. We had PP& sausage. Rather than chunks of sausage, the sausage seems to be one large, rolled out piece of sausage that covers the entire crust. Funky. I prefer chunks with more spicy flavor, but I still enjoyed it.

3.5 to be exact. This was my first taste of Chicago pizza and I was not disappointed. First off, this place was packed so I expected a wait that was fine because I was ready to warm up with some cocktails. The servers were very attentive and checked up on us frequently. The navy nipper is a refreshing drink made with gin, one of my favorite drinks I had in Chicago. LSD lemonade was too sweet for my liking. Toasted ravioli were dry and tough to cut through, I had to drown them in sauce to make them edible. As for the pizza, we got the deep dish(duh) with pepperoni which was great! Super cheesy and had plenty of stuffing. The crust was a bit dry but other than that no complaints at all. One negative was there is a 45 minute wait for a small pizza. If we were in a rush it would have been impossible to eat here.

Was on vacay in Chitown and I really enjoyed the pizza here. My first taste of Chicago deep dish and it was amazing. The crust tasted like a pie crust and there was so much cheese and the cheese was so delicious it was amazing. I should have brought a few back to Toronto because our pizza isn’t great. Probably best pizza I ever had. Service was soso, server was kinda moody, but eh the pie is worth it.

The restaurant allowed us to place an order for the pizza before sitting down, which was a pretty quick and efficient system. We had the Chicago style deep dish pizza, and it was basically a load of cheese with a crunchy crust. It was good but it wasn’t any better than regular pizza(except for the crust). We had to try it out though, just because we were in Chicago you know.

First of all, when they say 45 minute wait for a deep dish, they mean it. The good thing is, you can order while waiting for a table, which reduces your wait time significantly. The deep dish pizza is sumptuous and vaguely comforting, in the hot-cheese-sauce-on-a-rainy-day kind of way. I know that the restaurant chain in general doesn’t have awesome reviews, but I truly enjoyed it. Maybe it’s because I was a tourist, but having a deep dish pizza seemed like the best thing to do while visiting Chicago. Perhaps the next time I’m in town I’ll ask around for a more mom-n-pop style place but for now, my reference is Giordanos.

When I first landed I immediately thought of CHICAGOPIZZA!!! So my boyfriend and I had this for our first meal. Their pizza was too saucy for my taste and the cheese was hard. Their calamari was good though! I like how they added mushrooms and green beans to it. I got full after one slice of pizza probably because of the stuffed cheese. We had a really great server!

Chicago Deep Dish Pizza was the first thing that came to my mind when I stepped foot in Chicago for the first time so I just had to get some last Saturday night. Well, I heard that Giordano’s is one of the best pizza places in Chicago so I thought I would try it out especially since it was close to the hotel that I am staying at. I was really tired so I just wanted to order take out and eat it at my hotel room. It was almost 8:00PM when I called to place an order for take out. I would have to wait about an hour and fifteen minutes(9:15PM) and delivery would be about an hour and hour five(9:45PM). They do deliveries so that’s a plus; but wow, that’s a really long wait. So I decided to pick it up at 9:15, but it wasn’t ready. I finally got it 20 minutes later. Might as well choose delivery. So I ordered some cheese bread and a small pizza(half classic and half bbq chicken deep dish). Sad to say that I didn’t like the cheesy bread at all. Not sure if it was because it was a take out order, but it wasn’t very good. The cheese was hard, so it just doesn’t taste good. As for the pizza, the classic was only okay, but the bbq chicken was actually pretty tasty. However, I don’t think it was the best bbq chicken pizza out there, not even on the top 20 on my list of pizzas… Overall, I might come back for the Bbq chicken deep dish pizza if I stayed at this hotel and wanted something close by, but other then that, I would have to pass. I didn’t come to Chicago for just decent tasting pizza.

Everyone will always have their own opinion on which place serves the best deep dish pizza. In my opinion, it’s Giordano’s. Their crust is thicker than the others I’ve tried(Lou Malnati’s and Gino’s East) but it also means there are more toppings in there. We ordered the Super Veggie(mushrooms, green peppers, onions, broccoli, black olives, artichokes & spinach). I normally like meat on my pizza but this was really filling already. Their pies take about 45 minutes to come out, like most other deep dish places, but this one is definitely worth the wait. It’s exactly how I imagined deep dish pizza would be like — from the thick layer of cheese, to the pizza stand that it’s beautifully displayed on. Tip — they have frozen pizzas you can ship or take home but by the end of the trip, I was so sick of deep dish, I was good with not taking any home.

My first time having deep dish in Chicago! Not sure how much I’d be willing to wait in the future after the first time though. Food: –Meat Lovers: This one was a bit salty than what I would’ve desired, but it was still quite yummy! –Chicago Classic: This one was really good. I recommend getting at least one with vegetables. The flavors really melded well together in this pizza which consisted of pepperoni, bell peppers, and mushrooms(may be missing some). I actually can’t stand the taste of mushrooms but I honestly couldn’t tell with all the other flavors together. For both, the cheese is so stretchy and quite filling. The pizza actually wasn’t as thick as what I was expecting but it was still a great Chicago deep dish experience. Wait: You put your name down for a table and then go to the pre-order line to order and then wait. We waited around 45 minutes after ordering before being seated and waited another ~20 minutes before our food came to our table on a Saturday night. Service: Our server was greeted us and was pretty nice and checked up on us a few times though our water pitcher was running pretty low without refill :(

When visiting Chicago one just has to eat at least one deep dish pizza. Well, now I have done it. After reading some reviews of horror stories about waiting 30 minutes to sit down and then 60 min to actually get the food, I decided that lunch time should be a good opportunity to try this location. And it was! Lunch special of sausage pizza, house salad & coke all for $ 9.90(plus of course the usual taxes, tips etc). Value for money? Very good. Pizza came after 5min wait, so nothing like that 30+60min wait problem. However, the pizza was slightly tasteless, perhaps it was just the amount of cheese in it? Anyway the size was just right for lunch, I ate everything without having stuff it in. All in all good but not excellent. Would I return? Yes for sure, nice cheap and fast lunch. Quite a combination!

Why bother reviewing Giordano’s? Why bother reading reviews? You know your ass is still gonna be curious about why it’s an hour long wait, and then another 30 minutes before that damn gooey, cheesy, deep dish pizza comes out and enters your mouth. You might as well stop reading and get in line right now. It’ll be a while kids! But yes, Giordano’s is probably in my Top 2 favorite deep dish in Chicago. It is HELLA touristy. It is LONGLINES. It’ll drive you nuts when you see people just chillin’ and not eating more once they’re done, because you want their table. Is it worth the wait? YES! I always get the same things when I do deep dish with friends in Chicago. I order a round of beers, a fried calamari to start, and then the pizza itself. I judge places like these based on those three things. For Giordano’s, the calamari was decent, but nothing to write home about. The pizza however, was one of the best I’ve had in town. I loved the crust here as it was cheesy and flaky like pie, and the pizza was not drowning in sauce like some other places. Each slice was delicious, and I was able to eat 1.5 this time around. Get the classic. You can’t go wrong with such a choice. Pizza fans will enjoy this, and if the wait at this location makes you want to pull out your hair, don’t sweat it. There are more Giordano’s littered across the city. You just have to make the effort to go to a less touristy one. If you are waiting, the bar inside will kindly serve you some beer to start before you get seated for another round. Bön Appétit!

I LOVED the Chicago style pizza at Giordano’s! I ordered a small Fresh Spinach pizza. The menu said that the six slice pie served two people but I tapped out at two slices. It was like completing a Man vs. Food challenge just to get those two slices down. It tasted like a really good spinach lasagna made with crust instead of noodles. Delicious but very filling. For some reason I thought Chicago style deep dish pizza meant a 2″ crust topped with sauce, cheese and toppings. Instead the pizza layers were(from the bottom up) a thin flour crust, cheese, toppings, another thin crust, and pizza sauce on top. When I say«thin» I mean it was about the thickness of two matzo crackers stacked. I didn’t love everything about the experience. We had a 30 – 35 minute wait to be seated. I knew the place would be crowded since it’s a Chicago institution. Still I wasn’t prepared to wait with so many people in such a little space. It felt like being on a crowded dance floor. Also, between the 50 or so people waiting in the lobby and the full dining room it was comically loud – think high school cafeteria loud. Then someone decided to add background music to the mix. With songs like«Why Can’t We Be Friends,» «Pick Up the Pieces» and King Floyd’s «Groove Me» blaring over everything it took serious effort to hold conversation. High marks for Giordano’s pizza but for a more sedate dining experience, I would recommend trying to schedule your trip during off peak hours.
