Not the best I’ve had, esp since I work in little village area and there are many places I’ve had an opportunity to try and compare to. However it is a convenient late night spot to visit, and I do enjoy their chicken quesadillas. It’s relatively quick. I have had a mix of experiences where I’m welcomed and feel comfortable and other times revived with a more brisk approach, but mostly it’s a friendly enough environment.

GREAT soft tacos. The service is a little slow, but it’s a great place to sit down and enjoy a rich Mexican meal. The price isn’t bad compared to other surrounding Mexican restaurants, and the quality is a step ahead. If it’s late at night and the other Wrigleyville taco joints are too crowded, it’s open late and worth a visit.

I am addicted — this is one of two Mexican restaurants I’ve had that has the best chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. As someone who loves Mexican food and has had plenty of it, this place is amazing. I am very picky with good Mexican food because of this place. It is one to top. The staff is friendly and you can’t go wrong with anything else. Sopes, tostadas, tacos… You name it, it’s all great!

I just ordered delivery from their website about 2 hours ago. Still no food. Nobody is picking up their phone. These jerks stole my money! I’m even more pissed because I’ve been a customer for a long time and have always thought they were nice people. What the EFF is going on? I guess I’m going to have to file a charge-back against them. Does anyone know if they closed suddenly or something? Totally weird and annoying.

This is the second time getting food here. Everything has been excellent. Veggie burritos, fish tacos,… All top quality fresh ingredients! But don’t come because it’s always busy and I don’t want to have to wait longer for my food!

I have given this place far too many chances and everytime I have been disappointed. The chicken, in most of the dishes, lacks flavor. Also the customer service is not the best. Rarely are you greeted in a welcoming manner. Many times you are lucky to get acknowledged if you are placing a take out order. Head a few blocks south for better mexican restaurants.

Micheladas galore. I personally enjoy the Michelada El Palmar. And the sopa verde polo is excellent.

Wacala vomito! Meaning this place sucks! The tacos are just not worth $ 2.55. Honestly the tortillas suck, the meat isn’t seasoned. I’m mad I could’ve made myself better tacos! This place isn’t what it USED to be

Every time I go to this restaurant I am always happy when I leave. Their service is great, the food is always amazing and their salsa verde is spectacular. This is always my go to spot when I want to grab a quick Mexican lunch and a margarita.

First off let me say that I didn’t actually sit down and dine here, and there’s one main reason why I will in the future, which I’ll get to in a minute. As I was heading to Roots for my weekly vape refill, I caught one of the employees walking in with a huge bag of food. Said it was from palmar, and was one of the best Mexican places he’d ever been to. I was hungry so I figured why not. Walking in, it looks like an average taqueria that’s trying to be a restaurant. So, no ordering from the counter. But you want to. Anyways, the way I judge a taqueria is by sampling the tacos. Call me a dumb American, but I feel like the taco is the cornerstone of Mexican cuisine. Especially in a taqueria. So I ordered one carne asada, and one al pastor. Usually everything tastes better when you’re starving, but these tacos were average at best. The pastor was actually a little better than the asada, but a far cry from the kind that gets sliced off a rotating spit. They also screwed up my order a bit but I’ll give them another shot service-wise when I return. The reason why I’m coming back is because of the micheladas. They were the biggest, most ridiculous looking things I’ve ever seen. Like imagine a small fish bowl with a 32oz of corona jammed upside down in it, and the rim lined with shrimp. Crazy. I gotta try one. Not to mention they offer a few variations of it, all equally ridiculous. The restaurant seems to specialize in seafood, so maybe ordering tacos was the wrong call. Either way I’m coming back and will definitely update this review.

I had no idea I was going to have such an amazing meal. I had«Los langostinos.» They were incredibly delicious. We ate here without knowing they were going to be so good. They serve drinks as well and they looked good, but I was too full to order any liquor. I loved it. I’m coming back. I don’t care if I have to wait long. It was worth it.

Um can I just say this is one of the BEST Mexican place I’ve been to anywhere. Seriously! Was super hungry after my girlfriend had an appointment in the area and we were about to head to Pilsen to eat some Mexican when we passed this place. She was trying to convince me to just eat here so we don’t have to wait and take a drive down to Pilsen. I, being the Unilocal reviewer and skeptic saw the store front and said«girl no, this place looks dirty and run down. I aint got time to get food poisoning.». I finally gave in and I was wrong. The staff was friendly, the seating and look to the restaurant looked a little dingy but the quality of the food OMG, mouth watering and HUGE portions. Also the price was beyond good. All the food we had was delicious, better than the other Mexican spots in Pilsen and around Chicago. I was in shock at how big her burrito was. Food was fresh and delicious. Only gripe was it took forever to get our food. 40 minutes or so. I’m pretty sure it took so long because it was being made fresh. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed!

I have to say this restaurant experience was really disappointing. I had heard or saw recently a review on the news and I recall that the reporter gave the place a pretty good review. It’s a place that was family run and has been in the area for years and years. Well it was nothing but a failure as far as I’m concerned. To begin with, the place doesn’t appear to be the cleanest. The dining room floor could use some cleaning or better yet, replacing. Based on the atmosphere, one would expect that they didn’t spend much on décor but this must be one of those«hidden gems» where you go for the food — not the décor. Fail. The food was pretty low quality as well. This — combined with poor service and prices that were much higher than one would expect means this place is a «do not go here» rated place. The problem with the service was that there were two of us dining together and an almost empty dining room. I ordered the steak fajita and my friend got a giant burrito. Not complicated. Not busy. But they couldn’t serve both entrees at the same time. Not even close. The fajita showed up in a reasonable amount of time and was sizzling on the platter. But no plate and not tortillas. I waited since my dinner companion had not received his burrito. And waited. And waited. And the waitress was chatting with other customers. Other staff. Finally she shows up with tortillas. No plate. I ask her for a plate and she looked at me like I offended her. She disappears and 5 minutes(we times it) and she shows up with a plate. Still no burrito so we now ask for my friends meal. «It’s coming». Another 5 minutes. My sizzling fajitas are sizzling no more. I even gave my friend some of mine so I could eat it while it was at least still warm. As he’s half way through a fajita the elusive burrito shows up. So we are both eating and not saying much like«MMM so good» or «this is pretty good» cuz the food is BLAND! There are no spices — at all. The steak in the fajita was overlooked, tough and tasteless. The onions and peppers were overlooked, mushy and everything was drowning in oil which I guess they add so much oil to give the sizzling effect but you could lube a small car with the amount that’s floating on the platter. The burrito was equally tasteless. Huge. But no flavor. My friend did his best to get through it and we ate most of both our meals just out of hunger. And if you’re gonna pay a lot you want to at least leave somewhat satiated. So while I’m told this place is an «institution» in the neighborhood, it was food you’d probably get if you were commuted to an institution. Bland. Overlooked. Horrible. Skip this place — it can’t be hard to find Mexican food that would be way better. In fact, I think we may head over to the Walgreens nearby and pick up some frozen enchiladas — I’m sure they will be a significant improvement.

I ordered from Grubhub and I should have thought twice before doing do. This place isn’t great Mexican food. Being sick and home bound, I ordered two horchatas to get myself hydrated… they were okay but a bit too much cinnamon. I also ordered an order of super nachos. It was nice that they came with plenty of chips and salsa on the side as a bonus, but it doesn’t excuse that I had to basically throw away most of them. The chips in the nachos were SOGGY, and they were also just weird because they were garnished with radishes, carrots, peas or capers, and a bunch of whole jalapenos. Further there was shredded lettuce wilted all over and under the melted cheese!!! Who puts lettuce on and then heats?!? Yuck!!!

This really used to be my most favorite Mexican joint in or out of the city… I mean, my most fave anywhere. I was going through my reviews to write an update and I was shocked to see that I hadn’t written one previously. I, no doubt, would’ve rated this place with five stars maybe a year ago. Unfortunately, the service has quickly become, well… kinda really bad. So although their food still tastes really yummy I’m gonna have to find somewhere else to get my Mexican kick. Yes. Service really is THAT important to me. I’m sure there are plenty of places to get amazing Mexican food WITH great service as well. I just never had a reason to find them out. Sigh…

I got what I expected from this place. Mexican outside of Pilsen is already raising questions, then you see the place and you know you are going to get: cheap, you will get big portions, you will not get high quality. The peach margarita seemed weak but I heard good things about the lime. Chips and salsas were solid. I got the biggest steak burrito of my life, large side of rice, and large side of refried for $ 8. The steak had a decent flavor and the extras in the burrito is what I expected. Rice wasn’t great. Beans were ok. But either way, it’s about 2 – 3 meals for any one person. Server was nice. The place at was ok. If you’re in the area and you need a big meal, I’d definitely recommend it.
