Are you ever open??? Your website states that you are open and this is the 3rd time that you haven’t been. Disappointed.

So I came back this weekend to give this place another shot. The biggest concern is that the quality of coffee is terrible. I ordered my coffee from their menu. We asked the«baristas» what kind of beans they roasted. They seemed confused by the question stating they used«regular beans» and ultimately said they roasted Hills Brothers! They also didn’t have 2% milk on a weekend morning… how can you not have milk in your coffee shop in the morning?! We watched the girls behind the counter fumble to make a basic coffee order in horror and noticed that the«baked» treats were all grocery store type items they then sliced up. I finally got my coffee, took a sip to be polite and threw it out as soon as I left. We drove right to Starbucks where baristas actually know about coffee. I’m not sure if they changed managers or owners. As much as I wanted this coffee shop to be a hit, I will not be going back. If you actually like quality coffee and food, you’ll be disappointed. If you prefer Hills Brothers coffee, then this is the place for you.

Tried to get coffee today. Lights are one but no body is home. After reading reviews, I stopped by. Had to head elsewhere.

This place is a great gem on Irving Park. I stopped in for a quick caffine fix and WOW, I’m so glad I found this place. It’s a simple yet awesome place to handle my coffee house needs. A great place for good coffee and an awesome owner who was very friendly offering great service. I’ll definitely be back.

I agree with the reviewers below… are you guys ever open? I’ve tried going a few times with my bf during open hours and the doors were always locked.

is this place ever open or what. I would like to know what it’s like but I’ve tried to go 3 times and it was closed, even though posted hours said it was open.

I have tried patronizing them three times now and they have been closed every time, despite their hours being listed as «open» online. This morning was the last straw for me. It was 7:30am and the door was locked and the place was empty. A couple of weeks ago on a Sunday, 9am, locked again. About a month ago, Thursday morning around 8am, closed. There are no hours posted on the door or front windows. The online hours listed are clearly not accurate. How does this place expect to survive if they are this haphazard with their hours of operation? I even called and left them a voice mail after my second attempt(they had no voice mail greeting or message by the way). No call back. I’m not going back anymore. I will drive through the Starbucks on Western or stop by the Starbucks in Old Irving… at least I know they will be open.

I went in not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised by Chicago Coffee House. The atmosphere is warm and the seating comfortable. The music was really good without being too loud. You can easily have a conversation without shouting but still enjoy the music when it’s quiet. The wifi was fast, too. I had an iced coffee and it was nice to see them make it for me on the spot, not pour it out of a previously made pitcher like a lot of other places do. You could definitely taste the difference. I spoke briefly with the owner and he was very friendly, telling me about the shop and his process of getting the business started. It was interesting nice to hear about all he’s put into the place. I will definitely be back. I want to see this place make it.

I have to say, I am glad to see another indie coffee shop right in my neighborhood. I decided to finally visit this place. Small place, not a lot of seating, but enjoyed the interior of this place. Very nice and comfortable. The owner, I believe his name was Rick was very friendly. I ended up ordering my standard Iced Latte. It was fantastic. I come to find out he roasts small batches of beans right there on the premises! Which I find VERY impressive! Being the coffee person I am we starting talking about the shop and his coffee. He is really into the coffee process and getting making his place a success. He is serving sandwiches and breakfast, but his main concentration is the coffee. I left with an awesome smile and told him, I will be coming back a lot!

I asked for a coffee and dude said they didn’t have any. Then he tried to tell me that the americano was the same thing. Definitely a disappointment to both not get coffee and to suggest that an espresso and a coffee are the same thing. I did get the americano and it was fine.

I live around the corner and was VERY excited at the prospect of having a good coffee shop/quick breakfast joint in the area… too bad they are always going to be «back in 10 minutes»!!! I’ve tried to go here five times and only been successful once! That lone time I was able to actually buy coffee it took roughly 10 minutes for them to make an Americano(the place was empty). The other four times I’ve tried to stop by I’ve been met with a sign on the door reading«back in 10 minutes». I’ve even driven past 30 minutes later to see the same sign. Today is Sunday, Father’s Day and it’s noon. How can a business survive when you are closed at your peak business hours!!! Hopefully they get their act together and I can one day try a breakfast sandwich. Until then, I guess we are stuck without a reliable coffee shop. ***UPDATE7/2*** Decided to give them one more shot. It’s Friday at 9:30am…big surprise… closed up tight. No note, nothing. Finally giving up on this place. Save your money and time. Don’t even try. Too bad. I had high hopes.

I’ve only taken my coffee to go here but I can tell you this is my go to neighborhood coffee shop. Today marked my third visit here and I can say the staff are always friendly and the coffee always fresh. Definitely recommend stopping in for a cup. They also have different specials like a large coffee and pastry for $ 3something or iced tea and fruit. I’ve only had their coffee but they also have other coffee/tea beverages available. The space is nice with a bit of an intimate vibe going on. It hasn’t been very busy on my visits but I’m hoping it’s just a lot of people taking their coffee to go like me. I’d love to see this coffee shop succeed.

Stopped in yesterday with my wife. We had an iced coffee, an iced tea and a cup of gelato. The drinks were really good and the gelato was delicious and not at all expensive; I thought the bill would be twice as much. The server was very welcoming and friendly. I love the booths in here; the place has a comfy feel that is great for talking, reading, or doing work. I would do away with the television, but at least they didn’t have the volume on, just some music at a reasonable volume. Definitely a fan of this place!

Tried the macchiato earlier today. Nothing special. Plenty of parking out front. The place was cozy and quiet. I’d like to go back for a sandwich or a pastry but nothing amazing as of yet. Peace

I consider this review as preliminary, as this place is new and getting their stuff together. I do not live in this neighborhood, but it is accessible to where I live, so I decided to check it out today before work. They do not have a menu on the wall or on the counter, so I inquired the barista what drink they have available. She mentioned«sacch-lata.» I know it has the latin root for«sugar;» however, I did not have clue what this was going to be. Anyways, Rosa J. tries everything; the only thing she is afraid is height, yet it has nothing to do with food(lol). It took about ten(10) minutes to make the drink. The result? It was delicious! I received a 16 oz. size. Surprisingly, it was reasonably-priced. I added a pastry onto my entire purchase. The total was $ 4.28. I could easily pay $ 7 or $ 8 for these two(2) items anywhere else. Perhaps they are in their«soft opening,» but I will check back with them soon.

Having lived in this area for a few months I have been waiting desperately for a coffee shop to open. I was thrilled to see this place open — although I never managed to actually find it open when walking past. Until now! It’s still very much in the opening stage, the hours are now 7am-9am with a kitchen opening in a month or so. We were served by a very friendly and welcoming barista who made us the ‘house special’ which tasted great! I will be returning and am excited to see this place develop! Great chilled atmosphere.

This place is warm and cozy as previous reviews have mentioned — the perfect combo for coffee. The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, something vital for students and workers alike. The owner, Rick, knows his coffee. The drink he made, Zugaratto(I think that is how you spell it) was great! And I am picky about my coffee. The neighborhood needed a coffee shop and it is finally here!

Stopped in for a quick cup and was totally surprised by this place. You can tell that alot of thought put into the ambiance. Food was delicious and great quality coffee. Owner very approachable, understands what the customer wants and you can see it in the attention he gives you. Definitely coming back to try the other sandwiches.

It’s semi-open. Not fully, but you can still stop by and enjoy a cup of coffee. Fellow Unilocalers, I live less than a minute away from this place and I can NOT describe to you how happy I am to have a coffee shop in this area. Simply put, the Irving Park area sucks. Really, really sucks. If you’re looking for coffee, your best bet would have been 7−11…until now. Me being a coffee/independent café junkie, I walked by and saw that two customers were inside so I decided to stop by and finally check this place out. I chatted with the owner Rick, who is seriously a really cool guy. He talked about how much he loved doing this and how he’s stressed about meeting high standards since this is a café in a very barren area. He made a caramel vanilla latte and it was a free first drink. How awesome is that? The best part is that it tasted great and was the perfect thing to drink on a cold, cold day like today. Granted, I might go run a few laps to get rid of this hyper-ness(coffee in the evening does not work well with me), but hey it’s worth it. Glad to have this shop in the area!

This place is absolutely adorable. Great«first date» get to know each other place! I went there tonight and I’m not sure the owner, Frederick, even planned on opening the place because it isn’t technically open fully yet. But he saw me outside and let me in, which was awesome because it was snowy and cold It has a very warm and homey atmosphere, exactly like a coffee House should. I’m not a picky coffee drinker so I told him to just surprise me. He made me a chocolate concoction coffee that was to die for(and I honestly couldn’t even tell you what was in it). And the friend I was with got tea. There are like 20 different kinds of tea to choose from. As we sat and hung out Rick brought my friend another different flavored tea to try on the house and me a hasselnut coffee. He also brought over two muffins that he had picked up from a bakery earlier. You could just tell that he loved what he did and put his heart into his work. There was music playing, but not so loud that you couldn’t talk.
