It really is amazing how many 5 dollar hair cut shops have opened up in the chicago area. I’d sell my soul and my own mother before I’d ever step foot into any of them. There are are only 2 persons that I would ever get my hair cut and they are Jun at Model and the other is his young protégé Slim at Slim’s Barbershop in Crystal Lake. They are both top-notch skilled artisans with scissors and clippers. But, I’m here to speak on behalf of Model Barber Shop. Jun has been cutting hair for quite a long time and his experience shows in every cut. I feel regret for not knowing about this place sooner. Support a local Chicago legend, Jun the Barber, you’ll be happy you did. Afterall, what does a cheap crooked haircut from another shop say about you?

O.K. O.K. So I used to work there. I know I’m biased. Jun is the best barber to ever stand behind the chair. His speed does not reflect the quality of the cut. He can do a standard cut with a tapered neck in less than 3 minutes and it’s perfect. He also never looks as if he’s rushing or in a hurry. I worked there for 5 years and eventually got good enough to have 5% of the clients wait for me and 60% of the clients to have no preference. Jun’s getting up there in years though so he may be slowing down. He doesn’t do the quick cuts unless he’s jam packed or if you ask him to do it. He’s heavy handed and practically takes a layer of skin off when he does bald fades or marine regulation cuts so he doesn’t use a straight edge razor. If you’d rather have a straight edge than a good cut, then don’t go here. If you’d like to see him cut, I got a video of him on my youtube page:

For the finest military cuts in the city, I hereby present Jun the Barber, proprietor of the legendary Model Barber Shop. This guy gives the quickest and best High-and-Tights, fades, crews, Recons. etc., in all of Chicago. I understand he was a pro for many years taking care of the Marine Corps, and it certainly shows. His son-in-law(Slim) was his expert apprentice and a damn-good one, and currently has his own shop in Crystal Lake.
