Chicken enchiladas de mole was divine. Just the right moisture and spiciness. The enchiladas were stuffed with shredded chicken the salad had crema. We had delivery and it arrived hot.

Best Mexican spot in Chicago. The owner will treat you like family and always has great service. Their food is always well prepared and their restaurant is great to pop into for a quick bite. Highly recommend the mini chimichanga for a meal or to share for a four top. Enjoy!

I love places that surprise. This is one of them. Great come as you are, comfortable, neighborhoody atmosphere. Shrimp cocktail was amazing, fajitas were excellent, and the enchiladas hit the spot. Definitely enjoyed the BYOB. Can see this place being a regular mainstay.

Picked this lovely spot on a whim and it was a fantastic choice! Buena Vista is a tiny restaurant(maybe 8 tables for 2) with tasty, unfussy Mexican food. There’s not much to say, the tostados and salsa are fresh, the dishes are plentiful but not gargantuan/ridiculous. Staff are friendly and busy, so while it’s a casual place, it feels kinda intimate. Great flavors that are not unexpected for Mexican food, but definitely thoughtfully executed. So good! Also, please please. Don’t come here with your double-wide stroller or 15 shopping bags, and keep your voice at a reasonable level. This is a place to enjoy yummy food, not take up a ton of figurative and literal space.

Decided to check out this place because it was BYOB and also close to my apartment. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked their salsa because I feel that it’s spicier than most other restaurants’ and I LOVE spicy. I ordered the flautas(?) and they were delicious. I will be back and recumbent recommend!

Good Mexican food at Good prices. BYOB and so small the service is always pretty good. I like their enchiladas. Their table salsa is very spicy.

Authentic, huge portions, and I don’t even shit my brains out when I am done! If you are looking for a small Mexican place that gives you too much food for not much money, then this spot is the bee’s knees. Each time I go there it’s just this one woman seating and waiting on everybody and she works her ASS off, so tip big you cheap douche. I go with the burrito each time and the thing is a big as a god damned baby. The place is BYOB as well and you can bring anything, including whiskey. I can’t tell you how much fun it is to throw back a ton of whiskey and then be handed a baby-sized burrito literally ten minutes after I order it. They also provide chips and two types of salsa(huge deal for me). The green salsa has a very fresh taste to it and is not too spicy. The red salsa reminds me of crack because it ruins my night but I keep going back to it. So, if you haven’t been yet I highly recommend going. It makes Taco Bell look like Taco Bell.

I love this place. Every time I’ve been here, the food has been fantastic. I just had their chicken quesadillas, and their ratios of meat to cheese to spices are on point. It’s a hole in the wall style of restaurant, but don’t let that deter you. I normally go for takeout, but there’s always a bunch of people dining in. The staff is friendly and the food is kick-ass. Highly recommended for great Mexican food!

This place is my everything. –BYOB –Cheap –Family-owned –Speedy service I live right around the corner and I go to this place way too often. It’s always the same staff working, and it’s the family that runs the place. You get free chips & salsa, it’s BYOB, and they are super quick to get your food out of the kitchen. I’m a big fan of the Pastor burrito or the enchiladas suizas. During the summer, they have outdoor seating on the sidewalk on Broadway, which makes for a great ambiance.

I just moved to the neighborhood and we were craving late night Mexican food! This definitely satisfied us! The mole sauce was very rich in flavor! The red sauce is very spicy and hot. The steak is very very well seasoned. We were impressed! Definitely coming back again!

Food would definitely be a five star. The mole sauce was excellent, and the beans were very good. Definitely top notch Mexican food. Lost a star due to the service. Very slow– we were pretty much ignored for most of the meal, and there was only one other customer. At the end we did talk to another gentleman and he was very nice and professional. The chicken burrito with mole was excellent. So are their salsas, but be warned that they’re pretty spicy. Enchiladas were okay and surprisingly spicy.

A small little BYOB right along Broadway in the midst of trendy and often overpriced bars, restaurants and brewers, Buena Vista manages to stay alive because it doesn’t try to do more than it’s capable of. Imagine a world in which Mexican food is cooked by Mexicans and meal prices still hover below $ 10. If that’s ideal then this is your spot. Guac is solid, enchiladas are solid, steak chimichanga surprisingly good. Then of course it’s BYO for the win and no corkage fee. Sit indoors, sit outdoors, winner winner chicken dinner. Literally chicken dinner.

One of the worst Mexican Restaurants I’ve ever been to. Our food took over 25 minutes to arrive, when it did it was terrible. My Chorizo was underdone, and as a result, very runny. My beans were clearly burnt, my steak was bland. My brother’s order came back wrong(asked for no tomato), and when he asked the waitress she believed the burrito was not supposed to have sour cream, yet it was still overflowing with it. My other friend’s order came back tasting of soap. Even the salsas that came as an appetizer were extremely watery, and tasted of nothing but salt and onions. As a Mexican American, I’m offended that this restaurant claims to be Authentic. The one good thing I have to say about this restaurant is that it had a nice environment, the music was nice, the lighting gave it a home like feeling; such a shame the food didn’t live up to it.

We had a Grub Hub order. delivery was very fast-much faster than anticipated. Chips and salsa were good. The asada de puerco was well-flavored(but a bit fatty). Huge portion of meat. Tamales were fine. Son loved his verde enchildas. Very good rrefried beans and rice.

Chicken mole burrito, y’all. It is one of the best things in this ‘hood. Packed with your choice of meat(chicken is my fav!), rice and their amazing mole — just fantastic. Also, their hot sauce? Make sure you ask for both the green and red because you will definitely be sad when you run outta it. So good. For around $ 6, you will be so full and satisfied. The restaurant is generally busy(there’s a handful of tables inside), but in the nicer-weather months, the little patio opens up and people watching is always great. Oh, and BYOB. Win all around!

Mom, ma… are you in the back of the kitchen… The dark mole tasted pretty close to hers which is a rarity! Not many Mexican places make the dark chocolaty mole for enchiladas… its usually red or the verde(green). Had to try the pollo con mole and I was very pleased! The chicken was very tender, fell right off the bone and the mole was plentiful, every bite had the mole dripping off the fork. I didn’t care for the sesame seeds on top of the chicken and mole(isn’t that an Asian thing?) I wish they had chopped onions and queso fresco sprinkled over the dish. My date had chicken and steak tacos and she really enjoyed them as well and were loaded with delicious flavors! I love when Mexican places have refried beans that are not dry and taste like paste. Every Mexican loves their beans and has to have them at some point during the day! It was a relief to have the beans moist and flavorful. I really enjoyed the rice too. Some places have mushy rice or not enough tomato sauce in the rice… this place had it right! The salsa and chips were delicious! I LOVE when the salsas(red and green) and chips are not overly salty! The service was OK. Took the waiter quite some time to bring out chips and salsa when we first sat down and glasses for our BYOB of Sangria. Never really came and checked on our water for refills. They were not busy, there was another couple and a table of 4 occupied, so I was pretty surprised as to why it took so long. All in all I did like the food, the dark mole was such a treat! It was cozy and great to sit drink the alcohol of our choice. Que rico! Hasta Luego!

This is quite a small restaurant but the food they make is incredible and it is a steal at their prices plus they are BYOB. We ordered the queso fundito and the guacamole as an appetizer and both come in deep fried tortillas shaped into a bowl, it was pretty cool. We opted to get the chroizo with the queso fundito and it was worth it. For my main course I had to go with the tamale platter because I can never pass up a tamale. It was good and definitely the right choice. Bonus: both their red and green salsas are quite good and go well with not only the chips but basically all the food they serve. Bonus #2: there is a liquor store VERY close by, within eye sight from their front door.
