I love Mediterranean, so when a coworker said she was putting together a group order for Bocadillos, I was super excited. I happily picked out my falafel sandwich, and added some customizations to the special instructions(No lettuce, tomato, or onion. Add feta and hummus. Add pickles if you have them. Upcharges are fine.) And then the waiting started. GrubHub gave me an estimated delivery time, and from what I understand, that was the time that Bocadillos gave them. That hour ticked by. I call GrubHub. They say the food should be here in 15 – 20 minutes. Me and half a dozen hungry coworkers waited anxiously… and the order ended up arriving almost half an hour after it was supposed to. Very. Sad. Panda. But, I love Mediterranean! So I’ll forgive a lot for delicious falafel. Punch me in the face? No problem if you hand me a nice bit of falafel afterwards. Sadly, the food we got from Bocadillos was not good. Here’s a summary: — All the french fries were lukewarm at best — The hummus wasn’t really hummus-y textured, more of a tahini texture. Also, it was sweet. Which is just weird — The falafel also wasn’t even warm, and didn’t taste quite right. — My special instructions to add hummus, feta, and pickles(if possible) were completely ignored. I got pita, and falafel. I had to mooch of someone else’s hummus side. Overall, I’d try them again if I were dining in. However, in terms of takeout — nope, I’ll just walk to Oasis instead. Even if they don’t have pickles.

worst delivery experience ever. Took forever to get the food… when it did arrive it was cold and we were missing half of our order. We called the restaurant and they said they would deliver it asap… it took another hour to get the second half. Food is average. never ordering from here again.

I ordered the #1 combo(chicken, lamb and kefta). I added $ 2 for an extra skewer of lamb, for a total of $ 11.99. There was only 2 small pieces of lamb. I am disappointed. The food is good, but come on! Weak.

A diamond in the rough! Boca’s is down the street from my work and I go in there every now and again to get a good hummus fix. It is simple, but very well done. The chicken shawarma is my go to order, and the fries are excellent(even though their rice is a great substitute). Make sure to get the hot sauce. Best part about Boca’s though? The tea. Always hot and fresh and just tastes so good. The owner claims it is only mint, but these is a secret ingredient in there. I know it. Don’t be put off by the location or the looks of this place. Give it a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I was pleasantly surprised by the service and food from Bocadillos tonight given the huge discrepancies in the Unilocal reviews. It’s crazy… there are rave reviews and then some trash reviews. Very strange. Well, my delivery was executed without a hitch. I got my food in like 35 minutes. It was still warm and they included everything I asked for. By the way, I had ordered through GrubHub. So the food was good. The falafel sandwich was pretty good. I think it could have used some more salad… like lettuce/tomatoes, etc. Not a biggie, though. The hummus was not as good, but it was fine. I was a bit disappointed when they sent me whole wheat pita bread with the hummus. I’m sure that’s more healthy, but I didn’t ask for that. The sandwich had normal pita bread, so I don’t know why they gave me the whole wheat. In order to meet the order minimum, I had to order something extra, so I got fries. They were really good fries with seasoning and everything. Actually, the sandwich comes with fries already, which was a surprise to me, so I had like TONS of fries on my hands. The hot sauce and tahini could have been more impactful. So overall I liked Bocadillos. Does this name sound middle eastern? From the name I would’ve thought this place was Mexican or something, but what do I know? :-)

Absolutely delicious food that I can’t believe a higher-end restaurant can’t make as well. This is a true hole in the wall place that I am about to order pick-up from in 1 minute. Chicken Shwarma and Rice plate is amazing.

Accidentally stumbled on this place through a series of unfortunate events… and sometimes fate knows what it’s doing! My friend and I wanted to go to a Pakastani restaurant in the area that he had with co-workers and really enjoyed. We walk up to the door and witness a fight going on… I’m talking screaming, bloody faces, people trying to get in the middle, terrified cook cowering… we turned around and got right back in the car! We went a few blocks to a Somali restaurant and find out they don’t take cards and neither of us had cash. doh! Did I mention it was one of those –10 with windchill evenings? We ran across the street to the next place we saw… Bocadillos. We entered a warm, small, empty restaurant with maybe 6 tables, and were immediately greeted warmly by the staff(Moroccan) and cook(Mozambique, I believe.) The cook gave us paper menus and had us sit down to look. He explained some questions I had. He has an absolutely great smile! He promptly brought us each styrofoam cups of hot Moroccan tea, which was out of this world! I love lamb and ordered the combination #3 which comes with soup and salad. My friend ordered the kefta sandwich with fries. The cook made everything right there, fresh and hot. He first brought out my soup with a basket filled with halved wheat pitas. The soup was delicious, piping hot, spiced perfectly! I dipped the pita in the soup. Then he brought me a salad, fresh iceberg lettuce drizzled with some sort of spiced oil dressing. We got our entrees, which were so very enjoyable! My beef and lamb was done nicely and there was a very generous portion of hummus, with a hint of lemon and drizzled with olive oil. I still had plenty of wheat pita to eat it with. I took a bite of my friend’s kefta and wished I had enough room to order one for myself! Deliciously spiced beef with veggies in a white pita. Yum, yum, yummmm. I will definitely be going back to this little hole in the wall that I never would have seen otherwise!

Slow service. You always feel like the guy taking your order is lying to you. The discounts and free tea are a figment of your(and my) imagination. The first time we ordered, it was good, but it has gotten progressively worse every time. Last time, they sent the wrong food. Service has always sucked at this place, but tonight the food sucked as well and was 45 min late(1.5h total). The hot sauce smelled like disgusting cough syrup(or ball sweat). The tea was cold and bland, more like hot water. Shwarma tasted soured and the falafel was dry and inedible. The worst. Completely done with this place. Order from baba pita.

I am a cheap college student and I was looking for some really good Mediterranean food which was worth my money. My friend told me about Bocadillos and I thought I might as well give it a try. Although it was a bit out of my price range(I try to keep things under $ 10) it was well worth the money. Now I have ordered from this place twice off grubhub and both times it was great. First off the amount of food they give you is more than enough for one person. I payed $ 15.36(+ $ 2 for delivery off grubhub and 10% tip) and recieved Beef Shawarma Entrée(added extra skewer + $ 2) — Includes that yellow rice Lentil Soup — If I had to guess the amount it would be about the same volume as a standard coffee mug. Salad — The not so great part of the meal but it wasn’t terrible — 2 slices of wheat pita bread Goes great with soup and any leftover meat from entrée — hot sauce It’s like that red stuff at Chipotle but thinner and more kick And finally Mint Tea — Awesome tea. I’ve had mint tea from around the area and this has to be my favorite. A really good way to end the meal. I was really happy with my purchase because the food came early and the it was delicious. I would most definitely suggest giving this place a try if you haven’t because out of the two times I have ordered from here I’ve been satisfied each and every time. I’m giving it a $$ ranking because for delivery the order has to be greater or equal to $ 10.

Now that’s service! Eventhough, I had just come home from my restaurant job, I couldn’t get food since the kitchen closed early. Ramen was the only meal I had all day and my stomach was eating itself. Now, I could’ve easily cooked something up real quick but I had been serving and cleaning up after people all day so the last thing I wanted to do was create a mess in my kitchen and have to clean it up. I decided to browse on GrubHub to see what was available and I came across Bocadillo’s. It was close I haven’t had mediterranean food in a while. The food came about 10 minutes before the ETA. I was handed a Mint tea and bag-o-food by the delivery man who didn’t know how to make eye contact. I was a bit confused because I didn’t even order a Mint tea. I opened my bag and there were fries and a wrapped kefta kabob pita. Now I ordered Chicken Shwarma and hummus. Where’s my hummus? Not in the tiny bag… I called the restaurant and they said they would contact the driver. The driver called me and said, «oh well, I’m on the north side so it’ll take about 40 minutes for me to get it to you. „I could tell he was doing another delivery, but really!!! 40 minutes!!! He was just here!!! I know how long it takes to get to the north side on a Thursday night at 10:30pm, and it doesn’t take 40 minutes! He then follows with, „is it ok if the restaurant just gives you a credit?“ I say,“how am I supposed to know if I definitely have a credit for it?!“ He said,“I’ll just make note of it on your receipt and they’ll register it into the system.» Me,“fine, bye.“ I get another call from the restaurant, «Hello, this is the manager of Bocadillo’s, we got rid of the driver, I’ll go ahead and drop off your hummus. What is your number… ok I will drop off your hummus and you will still get a credit for another hummus.» Now you can imagine, how hungry I was, so I ate the Kabob with pleasure. It was soooooooooooooooo good! I received another call from the manager so he could verify my address and he said he’d be here in 5 minutes. He was… aaaaaanddd he gave me a full refund. Everything was delicious and fresh. That’s how you take care of your customers and keep them. I will definitely eat their food again, I’ll give their delivery service one more chance, but they completely redeemed themselves and earned a couple more stars in one night.

Unimpressed. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was jonesin dinner– so I turned to my trusty grubhub to find me something new and different. Thus, an order from Bocadillos was born, consisting of a chicken shawerma sandwich and the hummus/pita combo. The delivery was speedy, but that was about the only good thing about my experience. The sandwich was smooshy — I wasn’t sure what the sauce was, but it was a grayish slime that wasn’t particularly palatable. The onions were a nice add, but it was just pretty blah in the taste department. The hummus was okay, but being the hummus connoisseur that I am, well, it was nowhere near the level of Pazzos or I Dream of Falafel. Bottom line — not highly recommended.

Dishonest, Unethical Crooks! I ordered delivery from Bocadillos. They charged me, delivered half of it, and laughed at me on the phone when I tried to get them to refund or deliver the rest. These guys are crooks pure and simple. STAYAWAY.

I was so disappointed! I ordered online(from Grub Hub), and was super excited after the reading the Unilocal reviews. I could watch my movie, enjoy my middle eastern food. 30 minutes later I thought… why not start the movie. 30 minutes later… hmmm that’s been a while ANOTHER30 minutes later(I call them) — «Umm… where is my order?» «He’s making it right now». RIGHTNOW? Are you kidding me? 90 minutes later? I could have made it myself in an 1:45 minutes(that’s how long it took to actually arrive at my door. And surprise surprise, it’s cold when it gets here. So at this point I’m annoyed, and hungry, so of course I thought the food was lackluster. I’ll never order from here or eat there ever again. I hate giving 1 star reviews, but these guys earned it.

It’s a cold, windy Tuesday night. I’ve worked a hard day and stayed at the job longer than usual, with the fiancée beating me home-and thank god walked the dog. However, the problem lies in the fact that neither one of us is budging to cook. It’s getting later and the idea of eating greasy takeout or pizza is becoming less becoming of an idea to my waistline. Enter and a quick search of healthy restaurants still delivering. Result-Bocadillos! Attempting to come across healthy, I ordered the grilled fish sandwich. The lightly seasoned tilapia was delivered on a pita and delicious seasoned fries on the side. The fish was heartly and the side of hot sauce provided a nice extra little kick. The fiancé ordered the basil chicken sandwich and WOW that was some tender tasty chicken-not at all expected for a 10pm meal. They were even nice to sub his fries for hummus(DELICIOUS with a hint of lemon) and 2 extra pieces, for no extra charge! We will be adding this restaurant to our delivery reptoire!

LOVED the mint tea. LOVEDIT. I will go back for it. My pita sandwich was tasty(a marinated chicken with onion, tomato, lettuce in a pia) and it came with seasoned fries. Those too were tasty. Overall I think I need to try something else on the menu. The place is small but I didn’t feel out of place or unwelcome. There are also a lot of police hanging out in the area coming in for food or coffee. I want to see what some of the other dishes are to see if this place is memorable or not, right now it isn’t distinct except for the wonderful tea.

This is a tiny Middle Eastern café in the middle of a Chicago dead zone on Orleans. It’s just north of Chicago, next to Cabrini Green and amidst all the other Pakistani and African cab driver restaurants and stands. The menu looked good and the man who took our order seemed really nice and welcoming. He gave us complimentary mint tea while we waited. I just got a sandwich which consisted of ground beef egg and potatoes. Pretty basic but a good lunch. The seasoned fries were great. I love seasoned fries. There really is no reason to even serve regular unseasoned fries anymore. There were a few regulars who stopped in and hung out and ate. Al Jazeera was playing on the TV in the corner. Overall a nice friendly place, and a good lunch option.

A small Middle Eastern restaurant/café in a relatively unpopulated area of the Near North Side. This quaint location, which consists of around 4 tables and an ordering counter, has a great view of the northern skyline. The service here is attentive and thoughtful: when I ordered the hummus appetizer with my falafel sandwich, the man taking my order suggested that I go with the small. I’m glad I did, because it was more than enough to satisfy my lunchtime hunger. The table also enjoyed the complementary mint tea, a sweet apéritif for the meal ahead. I received the hummus first, which came with a piping hot pita straight from the oven. I almost burned my hands, but I didn’t mind: this is how I want to eat all my hummus. The hummus itself was mild with a hint of lemon. I didn’t finish all of it before my pita was gone, but no matter: I was more than happy to use it as a general-purpose dip for the falafel sandwich, which arrived next. Served with an odd choice of french fries, this sandwich wasn’t the best I’ve had in Chicago, but it got the job done. The falafel were a tad soggy and the taste didn’t pop that much, but I admired the amount of personal touch applied; these weren’t just thrown together from bins of food. All in all, a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and while it may not be the best, I am anxious to try their other offerings.

Super close to ‘work’, this place came recommended to me by co-workers when I asked for recommendations of a close place to grab a bite. I walked in around Noon on a weekday and was the only one in there. The gentleman at the counter was so nice and welcoming. I ordered a falafel sandwich. It comes with fries for $ 4.99. YAY! The sandwich was huge! 5 falafel balls inside, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The fries were seasoned just the way I like them. While I was waiting for my food I was even given a complimentary cup of hot mint tea. SOOO nice! I will definitely look forward to grabbing lunch here from time to time.
