I’m pleased to offer the very first* review of Al-Andalus Grill, a new Moroccan/Mediterranean restaurant near Orleans and Oak. I came in on a Monday for an early lunch by myself. The restaurant is pretty new and still very clean. Awesome! I ordered the dolmas plate and chicken shawarma sandwich. Cost me only $ 12. I decided to eat at one of the four small tables, and was surprised that one of the workers actually brought me a glass of water. I wouldn’t expect that level of service from a place that seems to be mostly designed for carry-out, so I was very pleased. My food was brought out to me as well. Perhaps it was because they just weren’t busy. Either way, right on! Dolma plate: stuffed grape leaves(rice and spices filling) served with vegetables over a bed of greens. Everything was super fresh and it was the best dolma I could remember having in at least two years. Chicken shawarma: the classic middle eastern /mediterranean chicken sandwich. I had previously been used to shawarma with more sauce, but this sandwich was still pretty good. It’s just a different style. I also noticed bottles of ketchup on the tables, but hadn’t ever thought of putting it on shawarma, so I figured why the hell not. It was actually far better than I expected. Still need to figure out if that’s actually a thing, but hey whatever. Pita was solid, chicken was well-spiced. Could have used some more toppings. Bonus points for including tax in menu price and also for the ‘threek’ — my word for a three prong fork. All in all, I filled up my stomach, and feel pretty healthy about it. Five stars without reserve — hope to return soon! *at the time of writing, reviews written prior to mine did not show up as «recommended» and hence the count read«0 reviews»

This place is fabulous! Very warm service, great food, nice prices. I do not believe there are a lot of choices for this type of food in River North and I work near the restaurant, so I intend to be back. The food is balanced too — meat, veggies, rice or couscous. Fast enough to do for lunch during work hours. I enjoyed it very much.

Great food, good service, reasonable prices… I love the lunch specials. Glad a place like Alandalus Grill opened near our office. Ample street parking. Definitely a place that I will come back to visit.
