Order taker was rude. Slooooow. Half my fries still raw. Frustrating.

Went to use the emailed coupon I received on my cell phone but when I got there the counter person said that I needed to have a printed version of the coupon to use it. In a smaller font it does say that it requires a printed coupon but they shoudl have A made it plainer and B uh hello! there is a code on the coupon that is unique so it can only be used one time anyway so why go tot he trouble of having the person making them generate the unique codes and then not use them. No wonder they are having to give away food to drive business. Brilliant marketing for a population using smart phones… not. After their effort to get me in to their store they just managed to annoy me. I probably won’t be back anytime soon just on principle. I have eaten their food at a number of locations and it is a good change from Subway, Quiznos, & Jimmy Johns. But not that great of a value when a foot long sandwich by itself is right at $ 10. Hello businesses… if you go tot eh effort and expense to generate a coupon with a distinct and different pass code for every person then make sure to use it otherwise you have wasted your ad budget.

This place was highly recommended by a few people and I’ll be honest: I was pretty underwhelmed. For starters, depending on what you get and how busy it is, be prepared to wait. That had nothing to do with my rating, but I’m just throwing that out there. There were 2 people ahead of me and I waited 15 – 20 minutes. I got an East Coast style Dagwood, an order of cheese bread with pizza sauce, and some of the fresh-cut fries. I tend to avoid talking about whether food tastes good in my reviews because I know taste is very subjective, but I’m about to make an exception. For me personally, I didn’t think the Dagwood was all that great. Good? Yes. Am I going to recommend it? Meh, no. The cheese bread was something I was looking forward to, though. I love cheese-anything. I thought it was effing terrible. It was just crispy bread with a very thin layer of cheese and some extremely bland pizza sauce underneath it(tasted like tomato paste out of a can to me). Is that too harsh? I don’t know. It just wasn’t good. I tossed about ¾ of it in the trash. The fries were good, though. Again, just good. Everything is made to order and the service was good as well. The food just wasn’t worth the price for me.

Took Teen for an early dinner. Walked in to an enthusiastic greeting and friendly banter while we muddled our way through the ordering process. Spotted a cookie by the register that was nothing short of compelling — it prompted a discussion amongst the employees about who made the best cookies. First one in makes the cookies I guess. Teen had her usual BLT and I opted for the cheese steak. Shared some fries. Sandwiches were ample and good; the fries tasted like actual potatoes. Probably because they cut and make them on order. Both of us had a nice time at dinner, enhanced greatly by the friendliness of the staff.

Fantastic cheesesteak!!! Even better given that they make all of their fries from fresh potatoes in front of the customers. Not sure what management is doing but they seem to be able to get teenagers to actually provide surprisingly good customer service.

Penn Station may be best described as an upscale or better version of the mall food courts’ Charlie’s Steakery. They make grilled subs, where they actually grill the meat and melt the cheese, then put it on the sandwich — none of this toasting the sandwich junk. This place is in front of Wehrenberg Galaxy movie theatre. Pleasant inside, and friendly staff. Today is a nice day, and I wanted to sit outside. However, there are only two outside tables, and both were filled. Too bad! There is room for more, and since the entrance faces north, the outside table area is nice and shaded. It would be enjoyable for a large part of the year. I got a 6″ Founders Special for $ 4.89. Seemed kinda pricey for a 6″ sub, but it looked pretty tasty in the pic. It actually wasn’t too bad a deal, still a little costly, but you get a bootyload of meat that is nicely marinated and tasty. Good, mild melted cheese. I added sauteed onions, mushrooms, and banana peppers — all included in the price, and adding some flavor and variety. So it’s a pretty good choice if you want to step up from Subway or Quizno’s. I’d say it is a hot sandwich alternative to GoodCents, as far as quality and taste.
