This place is so great that I want all my friends to try it and maybe they finally will, since they are working on opening in Norfolk. There are a lot of great restaurants in the 7 cities but none of them are so different that I’d miss them specifically if I didn’t live in the area. Except Lemongrass.

The«chef» or «manager» whatever he wants to call himself has absolutely no customer service skills and is the biggest ass I’ve ever met. Had a problem with my food and he basically told me I’M the problem. The food was mediocre at is best, but I wasn’t expecting 5 star food either way so being let down by no expectation sucks. Would never eat there again, not to support a man who has no respect for women.

Healthy, and filling. Love eating here. Service is fast and food is great as always. This place has been in business for a while, and I personally believe it will stay in business.

This place is darling. They should definitely consider franchising. The food choices are unique, healthy and full of flavor. I’ve never selected a combination that I did not like. There are so many options and tastes that you can select. I’ve told many people about this place.

I stopped by Lemongrass today for lunch for the first time… Meh, it was okay. The food was decent, but the service was terrible. There was NOBODY else in the restaurant when I walked in, but the older gentleman behind the counter seemed super inconvenienced when I wanted to order. I ordered the rice noodles(cold and ultra soggy) with the braised beef(slimy, cold and tasteless), green beans(pretty good), sesame broccoli(the best part about it), noodle broth(bland and made a mess), wonton strips, and cilantro. My dish made a complete mess and was barely edible without dropping things. A co-worker RAVED about Lemongrass and how wonderful it was… I have to say I wasn’t that impressed.

Such a unique option that’s full of flavor. My favorite is the chicken with red curry sauce. And they give a military discount

Great salad! Citrus rice and chicken were everything but to top it off, I had seaweed salad, green and red peppers, wontons, corn, broccoli and green onions! Mix of Red Curry and broth sauce, all were hot and yummy! Why have I waited so long to come here. $ 7.79 for a bowl with tax, free drink with Unilocal Check in too! I’ll come to Chesapeake from Norfolk for a yummy lunch!

I had the noddle bowl with the noodle broth. The only problem I had with it, was that the noddle broth wasnt’t a liquid, but a paste. Also, the pork tasted old and it didn’t go well with the Asian theme they are going for. Broth– a liquid, typically consisting water that is boiled with meats and or bones. They wear chef jackets acting as if they are professionals. If you don’t know what a broth is then please take your jacket off. I’ve graduated from Culinary Institute of America, and that was just a huge disappointment.

This little restaurant is quite pleasant and casual. I’m grateful for the variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Their food is fresh and flavorful. I’d prefer it be piping hot rather than warm. I like my food hot. I always request double noodle. A single serving just isn’t enough for me. Call me greedy but this chic needs a hefty serving. They replaced the pineapple chutney sauce with orange glaze. I guess I was the only person ordering that sweet sauce. I’ll miss it. The service was quick and the cashier was courteous. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean.

The staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. One thing that made me uneasy was the fact that the restaurant was unclean. The trash areas had not been cleaned and there were dirty dishes stacked to the brim. the ice machine cover was off as they had obviously been working on it. A lot of dust and dirt was visible. The entire restaurant seemed a bit rundown with paint coming off walls edges and tables. The food was good but sprucing up the place would definitely make a big difference.

Both my husband and I have eaten at Lemongrass more than a few times. But not in the last year or so. We went today and had our usual. ½ rice and ½ noodles with chicken, pork and beef all the fixins and coconut garlic and peanut sauces. Very filling. But it was lacking. We found out that they no longer offer the candied ginger and candied pineapple. which set off the flavors of the meals previously. What once was a delicious fill bodied original creative concept, seemed usual and commonplace. Plus my husband did noticed that the containers are now smaller and the choice of hot sauces are only one choice now. And when asked on step 5 regarding toppings which ones and we stated all. the guy serving seemed pissed off and was skimpy about it. sorry dude. If it is your first time you will love it… if you went a year or so ago. you will know the difference..

I recall hitting this place up, over a year(or two) ago, and really liking it. So, I decided to try it one day last week while I was in the area. The restaurant was dead. No one was in there except the cook at the grill, he had to go in the back and get a server. He didn’t greet me or say anything… just looked at me, then walked in the back. I guess it’s better than him bellowing. The server was rather surly and I didn’t think they were very happy to be there. Or maybe she was just mad at having to get up and help someone. I didn’t appreciate the glare when I was asking about number of scoops of this or how many other things can I pick. Maybe they could consider putting some colored tape around the ingredients and list like ‘one scoop from yellow section, two choice from green, and unlimited choices from blue’ or something. Someone else arrived as I was finishing up, the cook got a different server who sounded much better. Some of the food, on the buffet they serve from, didn’t look that fresh. I noticed them having to stir the sauce before dipping it, and they were out of limes and something else. The chicken in my bowl was overcooked at the sides and seemed a small portion. Everything else was a generous helping. Even the stuff I only needed a little of, like the ginger. I had to take half that wad out. Ultimately, it was fine, just lite on the protein.

I’ve grown to love this place and especially the health factor when it comes to fast food fast! The veggies seem to switch up ever time I go in, which makes it interesting but the cook did cook a veggie for me that wasn’t on the bar. Great customer service! Veggies are always fresh with a little crisp, not overly cooked. I found the perfect sauce combination(coconut ginger & spicy curry) that makes my concoction yummy! So yes I’m giving this place another star because it had become my Fave place to go to.

I love Lemongrass! I like to come here for a quick meal, and the food is great! My sister is a little indifferent about it, but we took my boyfriend here most recently, and he loved it. The food is very fresh and tastes so good! The only complaint would be that my boyfriend got some garlic added to his bowl, and they were whole cloves of garlic – a lot of them. I think he would have enjoyed it better if they were chopped. But other than that, everything was delicious! My favorite is the wonton chips. They taste so great with the salsa. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back and get some food. I am so tempted right now!

When the boy and I were looking for a quick and healthy lunch spot, Lemongrass Grille came highly recommended by Unilocal.I mentioned this to my cousins who were in town and they all gave their seal of approval since this was one of their new fast casual restaurants in town. There are a bunch of things about this spot that I loved: it’s locally owned, they have a passion for healthy, unprocessed ingredients, you can customize your bowls, and they are not stingy with the ingredients. You can literally add all the toppings and veggies to your bowl if that is what your heart desires with no extra charge. I may have come on a wrong day but unfortunately I just was not feeling my bowl at the end of the day. The curry sauce was a little bit gloopy and the food a bit lukewarm for my taste. I would have loved some more flavoring in the veggies as well. That being said it looks like my husband was happy that I didn’t like my bowl because he polished off both his and mine in one sitting with no regrets.

I really like the concept and execution of this restaurant. And I’m pretty impressed that suburban Chesapeake is home to this locally owned, healthy and fresh quick service restaurant. I had actually come to this large shopping center looking for a phở restaurant. After I looked around and couldn’t find it I spotted Lemongrass and am pleased that I did. I had a citrus rice bowl with cilantro ginger chicken, coconut ginger sauce, broccoli, cabbage, green beans and a few garnishes. The restaurant offers an extensive variety of veggie and garnish options. It makes eating healthy fun. The sauce is what really made everything come together in my bowl. The coconut ginger sauce was savory and slightly sweet, it really hit the spot. Very casual place with several beer and wine options available. Prices were very reasonable. I have a couple of minor complaints. First, it took a couple of minutes to be acknowledged when I arrived(I was the only one waiting in line). When a young lady finally came out from the kitchen to take my order she was pleasant. Second, while the food was good, the rice and chicken were luke warm. All-in-all a nice spot and somewhere I would patronize often if it were in my hood.

Sometimes it takes me forever to visit a place even after I hear about it and want to check it out – too many bookmarks, too little time. Lemongrass Grille(LG) is one of those places, but finally, I have been there twice now so I can tell you my experience. Let’s begin! Like so many restaurants these days, LG is located at a strip mall in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake. I love the interior: tall ceilings, open space, and the color scheme of light green, purple and wood throughout the floor, tables and chairs. There is just something about the atmosphere that I like. LG has a setup like Chipotle; you order at the counter and they will help you go through the five steps: a base, protein, veggies, sauce, and garnishes. The owner, Robert Brennan, has a great concept and vision: «All natural, everything, all the time.» LG buys from local farmers and organic ingredients when possible, and all of their meat is «responsibly raised, farmed and prepared»( ). They also have many gluten-free(GF) items – rice noodles are GF and three of the six sauces are GF(coconut ginger, pineapple, garlic and noodle broth). I love LG; the food is fast, healthier(than most«fast food»), tasty and fairly inexpensive(a bowl, side and drink will cost you around $ 10, but you can get a free soft drink when you check-in on Unilocal). I’ve tried the chicken and pork as well as the red curry sauce and peanut sauce – thumbs up. If you like spicy, keep in mind their«spicy» items are not spicy at all, but they do have house made«hot» Sriracha available. I highly recommend LG when you’re shopping in Greenbrier. There are many great restaurants in the area, but LG is one of my new favorite spots. I like that everyone can be happy choosing their dishes at LG – even my kids!

I finally made my first visit to the Lemongrass Grille this past Monday evening and man I’m kicking myself for not visiting them sooner. I have no excuse either as I only work a few blocks from here. For the uninitiated the setup is kinda like going to several of the popular Mexican place like Moe’s. You walk up to the counter and start off with a bowl of Noodles or Rice, then add your choices of meats(Beef, Chicken, Pork or Phở), and from there you add whatever remaining items… One of the things I noticed here is that their offerings really accommodate everyone. If someone doesn’t like the more eccentric toppings then they certainly have the choice to go with basics and in my opinion even the most picky eater should be able to assemble something they would like. I had a dish consisting of noodles, beef, blistered green beans, tomatoes, corn, chilpolte sauce, green onions & cilantro. The bowl was full and I found the portion was definitely worth the price. Looking forward to a lunch there soon!

My umpteenth visit to Lemongrass and finally reviewing today one of my favorite places. I love just about everything here making it easy to change it up each visit with a noodle bowl, rice bowl, or a wrap. Usually get half beef half chicken or all beef, broccoli, beans, sweet potatoes, peanut-garlic sauce, wonton strips, and 10+ garnish items. Also add some mild Sriracha(the green one). 99% of the time I can never finish my food. It’s really enough for 2. Every now and then we’ll get some wonton chips with or without the mango sauce. They’re also good with just Sriracha. All it takes is one bite and you’ll be hooked.

We had a sample from Lemongrass at one of the Unilocal events and LOVED the sample. Totally loved it and thought, «We’ll definitely check this place out when in the Greenbrier area.» That happened to yesterday. We went in for a super late lunch. There weren’t too many people dining because it was an odd time. As many of our friends said, «It’s like an Asian version of Chipotle». Your food is prepared in front of you as you make your choices. You choose your base — citrus brown or white rice, rice noodles, a wrap, or a salad. Then you choose your meat/protein. There’s a tofu option as well. Then veggies, then your sauce(about 5 – 6 to choose from; I chose Peanut Garlic.) Last thing is toppings — lots of choices — I chose crushed peanuts and roasted garlic, but wish the garlic was cut into smaller pieces; these were huge chunks — I ended up picking them out because they were a little too overwhelming. I chose the Citrus white rice with Tahini soy(shredded) beef, broccoli, peanut garlic sauce, crushed peanuts and roasted garlic for the toppings, as mentioned earlier. The food was on the ok side — we definitely were not blown away, especially compared to the sample we had a few months ago. The rice was a tad bit under cooked, and my sauce was good but my boyfriend’s dish needed salt. The food was also lukewarm, I was so tempted to ask them to nuke mine for at least a minute. I still wouldn’t write this place off; I want to come back at least one more time and give it another shot. Maybe I’ll order the chicken.
