Well done sushi and hibachi in Chesapeake, VA! Very clean restaurant with polite, competent and prompt service. The sushi bar is fresh and offers traditional favorites as well as some unique concoctions for the restaurant. We recommend the Jackpot Roll as a house special. We also had the hibachi scallops which were done just right and generously portioned. Moderately priced and we left feeling like we got good value.

The two star rating is manly due to service; food was «ok» nothing spectacular or even to brag about but not ultra nasty. We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night… feeling lucky because there were plenty of empty tables… but lucky… yeah that was very premature of me because it took nearly 35 – 45 minutes just to get our «hibachi» meal started; the server stated there were only two chefs so we had to wait until one of the chefs were free (we sure could have been told this from the beginning). After we were finished with our meal we looked around for our server to get the bill… welllll he’s watching the Miami/​Toronto B-​Ball game on one of the TVs in the restaurant… but he did leave us some «to go» boxes well I think they were for us… they were near us so I’m thinking they were for us… errrrrrr awkward. Besides waiting and lack of service the rest of the evolution was ‼
Yeah…we won’t be going back, hopefully your experience is better.

We came here on Valentine’s Day for a late lunch. We did not have to wait for a table at the hibachi. The server was very nice and pleasant. Our hibachi griller was also very nice and attentive. Hubby had the filet mignon and I had the scallops. He cooked everything perfect. The only thing I’d like different would be the veggies not cut up so small; otherwise everything was on point! When we’re in the area, I will definitely come back!

I ordered take out sushi from here. Never ate there but they were conveniently nearby. Their menu online didn’t include a detailed sushi list so I called and asked if they had a roll what I had in mind. They didn’t, however, he specially made the roll for me. Picked it up in 15 mins. It was cheap & delicious! Will be back and definitely recommend!

Outside is a little deceiving. DO NOT pass this place up. Family came in from out of town. Decided last minute to come here. All employees were awesome, friendly and attentive. Waitress was always there filling drinks and making sure we were good. The chef was superb. A great entertainer and chef. Everything was cooked perfectly. We had steak, chicken, shrimp, and scallops. What a blast this place is. We have been to quite a few all over Hampton roads. We’ll stick to coming here for our choice of Japanese steak house !!! Christine was our waitress and Jerry was our chef. Top notch !!!

BEWARE! Do NOT go to this restaurant! Moment we sat down we felt disturbed. The atmosphere had food poisoning written ALLL over it. We didn’t want the hibachi side so we went to the sushi bar. The sushi chef was not Japanese… he looked like Bubbles from the Trailer Park Boys. Two tables over were a husband and wife and she coughed up her lungs every few mins. Just felt gross in there. VERY and I mean VERY limited sushi menu. And prices are HIGH! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! Bring hand sanitizer with you if you want to eat here but be forewarned you might have food poisoning later!

The Manager/​Owner refuse to honor the coupon that is offered on Unilocal for the restaurant (when you check-​in there is coupon to redeem); It is a 15% discount off of Hibachi and Sushi Dinner. The owner told me I would have to be a registered user on Unilocal and when I redeem my offer, Unilocal will then give me a coupon number to use. I showed him that I was a registered Unilocal user (my profile) and As I explained to him that Unilocal does not give numbers; you show the Owner/​Employee the coupon via your phone and the offer is granted. He still refused. So I asked him to show me where do I go on the App to get the number and he told me «he didn’t know». I come here often and I was very disappointed this visit. The food is great but I will no longer be a regular customer. I will drive 2 exits further and go to Ninja at Harbor View.

Don’t anticipate using the 15% off deal offered through Unilocal because they won’t allow it. I went there for dinner and was denied the use of this discount because it doesn’t show a coupon code. Don’t get the salad! It was more like ginger lettuce soup. My husband and I literally had to drain out the lettuce with our forks. The sushi was mediocre, comparable to any sushi stand you would find at a mall food court. Next time we will make the drive to norfolk for a decent sushi experience! I DO NOT recommend at all! The only thing pleasant about the place was our waitress who was very kind.

Great sushi! Terrible service! Beware if you go for lunch– waitstaff will ignore you. It seems the servers need more training in attending to the costumer-​and in addition we went with a party of 7 people and they charged us 18% gratuity for that terrible service. Didn’t refill drinks, pre bus or check on our food. Really really bad.

This was our 1st visit and will Not be our last! It was so much fun and the amount of food you get is insane and its delicious! Everybody should give it a try. They give you a coupon to come back, we will be back! Thanks to J for a fun night!

This is one of my family’s favorite places to eat. The food and entertainment are great, if you get the right person. We are not sushi eaters so we only have had hibachi. I used to eat beef and the marinated steak is absolutely delicious! It’s difficult to go there and not order it. It is a bit pricey, but you get a lot of food. Both my husband and I always leave with separate to go boxes.

The entrance to this restaurant is completely inconspicuous! It looks attached to the Chinese buffet next door. And they’re aware of this, so there’s a sign to help with the confusion. Sure, it has a typo but you get the gist. There’s no buffet here.
It’s a quaint Japanese hibachi and sushi spot in a shopping center with a Kmart that’s going out of business, a bounce house, and the aforementioned Chinese buffet.
I created my own roll: yellowtail, red snapper, smoked salmon and cucumber. They were large and scrumptious. Service was speedy. I like this place. After all, there’s no place like it in Chesapeake Square.

Good quality but pieces too big. Little overpriced. Interesting birthday song. FIrst day back for Christmas Break for my son. of course we are hitting the sushi bar!!! We chose Japan Samurai because it was close to his buddy’s house. I hate to say it, but I didn’t record the rolls we purchased. GASP. I can say this, you best be HUNGRY! I am not saying they give you 30 pieces per roll, but I tell you what, there was not a single piece there that I could eat in one bite. the pieces were HUGE!!! On that note, the prices were a tad inflated too. It was decent enough quality.

It’s good sushi and it’s cheap. I even had a side of rice and veggies and those were cheap. Daughter and I ate very well, with leftovers, and spent under $ 30. We just eat in the sushi side. There is a tv in there usually on something kid friendly. Staff is nice and my water never got empty.

We were all picking up some friends and ended up in this area and looked on Unilocal and the reviews seemed good and the atmosphere is nice inside. It’s tucked away in the K-​mart shopping center right off Portsmouth Blvd close to Chesapeake Sq. Mall. We were all pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was very nice and the elderly gentle who greated us was friendly. We didn’t get the Hibachi we decided on sushi and let me say we were NOT disappointed. Their sushi was phenomenal. We sat at the bar it was made right in front of us. Their Philly roll was one of the best we ever had. We also had a spicy tuna roll the was dipped with tempura batter and eel on top. It’s a little ways out there but its worth it.

I went to Japan Samurai last night with my son and we both loved it! I have never been to a Japanese Hibachi Restaurant before and this was a great dining experience. The staff was pleasant and prompt with seating and drink orders and it wasn’t long before a Chef appeared and started to put on an amazing show with things flying through the air and flames shooting up from the grill. I loved the flaming volcano that he made with onions. The food was plentiful and delicious. We were served a Miso soup and a small salad with a ginger dressing before the main meal was prepared. I had the Steak and Shrimp and it came with lots of veggies and rice. My son Chris had the Veggie dish and it looked great and he said it was delicious and there was plenty of it. I can’t wait to go back again to this place. I have posted a few photos on here.

My sister and I went here for sushi and it was pretty good.
We split a sushi/​sashimi combo for $ 30, ordered a few extra rolls in the $ 7 – 12 range, and I had a small pot of their house sake.
Quality and presentation of the rolls were great and the fish was very fresh.
Very good value for the area (Western Branch) and I will definitely be coming back for more sushi.

I love this Japanese Habachi more than Sumos in Virginia beach. Never a wait to be seated. The food is a plenty for the price. Today I had a little of everything. I was hungry… I had habachi shrimp, scallops and steak. Yummy. All served with the usual rice and veggies. It was so delicious. Will be sure to visiting again while in the seven cities.
