Great place. Outstanding chicken wings… perfectly crispy, and just the right amount of sauce. Worth every minute of the wait… and great service too!

Hubby praised Chi MC’s soy garlic chicken for tasting like chicken still. He said Bön Chon, while great, gave the impression that they could use any meat and still make it have the same impossibly crispy exterior and flavor profile. You didn’t get the distinct chicken flavor from their fried chicken. Chi MC’s is definitely chickeny and also less sweet and less greasy. It seemed«healthier,» but was just as satisfying. We also ordered the golbaengi, a type of spicy noodle salad with sea whelks(snails), dried squid, and vegetables, like cucumber slivers. This spicy noodle dish was prepared with canned whelks, which seems to be the norm, not a shortcut. Eighteen bucks isn’t bad for something that could have easily served a family of four, great for sharing. I would have liked the sauce a little more if it was a little less sweet. Sugar is a necessary component of this dish, but I think they may have been a little more heavy-handed. They should have especially reduced the amount of sugar since the sauce also contained whole slices of apples(apparently not uncommon in Korean sauces and condiments, saw it as «secret ingredient» in kimchee). The onions and dried squid scattered throughout also further sweetened the sauce. This dish is definitely packed with flavor, and I appreciated its spiciness and complexity. They were also pretty generous with the whelks, guessing they used a whole can or two. Besides the aforementioned sugar content, I thought this was a good entrée. And the final addition to our table – truffle fries(fries come in several flavors, including cajun and parmesan). The truffle fries can be topped with parmesan cheese if you’d like, and that’s what we opted for. The truffle flavor wasn’t too discernible, but we were impressed with the french fries’ uniform crispiness. Obviously, frying should be down to a science at places like these, but it’s not always the case. Great side. Service was excellent. Our server, also working the bar, was really nice and attentive. His colleague also checked up on us to see how we were doing. And when it came time to package all our leftovers(because we over ordered… oops…), she came out to help and packed things really neatly, and securely. She explained that she was leaving the fried chicken carton open so the still warm chicken could cool and not get soggy. The space is obviously new, but it’s also well maintained and sleek. It’s more inviting than some other similar establishments. I think it has to do with the staff’s friendly demeanor and the restaurant’s cleanliness. Everything on their menu looked pretty good. Next time, I’ll probably try the ttekbokki or rice cake stick with fish cake or the scallion pancake with the house garlic sauce mmmm. There are assorted options for meatarians and pescetarians(smaller selection for vegetarians), score!

Chicken is good. Service was solid up to a certain point. However, here is the big kicker. We ordered a $ 2 soda. Asked for a refill and had another person at the table take a sip. We saw the two employees in the back constantly staring at our table and chatting while one of us took a sip. 20 min later got our bill and we see another soda added onto our bill. The principle of the matter is that the server was very passive aggressive in adding the extra soda without even informing us of that fact. Let us know of the strict soda drinking policy at your restaurant. And we will do as told. However, nowhere on your menu does it say only one person must drink the soda. I mean, will you charge two sodas for a little child taking a sip of a parent’s soda? One more thing. Chi Mc manager/owner — let’s not be so stingy about the radish.

I thought Bonchon was the king of korean fried chicken. Not anymore! This place serves the best fries and wings period. Just make sure to call 30 minutes in advanced to avoid the long wait. The spicy sauce is not as spicy as Bonchon, which suits me fine. Some may complain it’s not spicy enough. The wings are so crispy even if you can take it home. Yum. Their soy garlic sauce tastes great. Great fries, especially their Cajun fries. Good draft beer selections along with bottled beers and check out their happy hour specials too. Ah their draft beers are served in a very cold glass. Oh so good. They do serve other Korean food, so have to check it out when I’m here next!

Out of this world! I heard this place was better than Bön Chon so I had to see for myself. I thought Bön Chon was amazing but this place gives it a run for its money. I had their wings. They’re full of meat and crispy but not greasy. I don’t think I can go Bön Chon anymore. I will be back here eventually.

really nothing to complain about. excellent fried chicken, juicy and not greasy with a yummy coating. the fries are prob the best I’ve tasted, crunchy but moist inside goodness. we did take out– ordered 30 min in advance, but they didn’t cooked the fries until we showed up(for freshness), which only took another few minutes. nice portion sizes for the price. love how this one little strip of mall is becoming the bomb of restaurants. we plan to come back and try out more of the menu.

Get. in. my. belly! Sorry BonChon, I’m breaking up with you. You’ve lost my business for good and I courted you for a long time, too. Chi Mc Chicken and Beer has bested you. I would eat these chicken wings while jogging on a treadmill. Service was excellent, food was superb. The wings were on point – not greasy at all(tasted like they were cooked in fresh grease at 5:50PM), juicy, and even though I had the spicy, could still taste a little garlic in the seasoning – but it wasn’t overwhelming at all. Had take out this time, but next time I will sit and maybe even enjoy some of that good beer to compliment the wings. This is a solid 5 star rating.

Nice, very nice. I can eat here everyday. Twice on Fridays. Real good chicken. Super non-fat but meaty chickens. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside. It’s a mystery to me how they do it. Gotta eat more to find out.

This place was clean and had a nice décor. The bathroom was on point. But, I think it should have paper toilet seat covers and paper towels. The staff was friendly, polite and helpful! As for the food, the house salad was very good. But, if I were you, I would ask for more tomatoes. I really had to hunt for them! I ordered the salad in the first place because, the chicken I ordered takes about 35 minutes to come out to you. That was cool with me because, I was not starving and it’s not a fast food place. I will tell you this, if you order sides that you want to eat with your chicken, like their Cajun fries; you need to tell then to bring it out with the chicken. Otherwise, you will have luke warm fries when your chicken does comes out! I will say that was some of the crispiest chicken I have ever had! It was very good. I ordered the spice flavor and it is what they say it is-spicy! I will most likely go back again when I am in town this May. So until then, I can only dream about getting chicken the crispy and good!

This place is amazing. Everything! Literally! From food, drinks, service to atmosphere, they definitely exceeded my expectations. A big applause to this lady who seemed like a manager/owner, she was very attentive to all tables and asking questions to make sure everyone had everything needed. We had two large orders of chicken wings(20 piece for large) with soy garlic flavor. It tasted kind of like Bön chon but I didn’t try the spicy one so I’m not sure what that would taste like. It was super crispy as they advertised and hot & delicious! We also tried the cocktail soju which was good. Good amount of beer selections in pitchers as well. I can’t wait to come back and try other entrees on the menu!

Finally found a replacement of Bön chon and very close to our place. This is newly open business here in Chantilly. I like bon chon but this is way way better than bon chon! Their chicken is still juicy unlike bonchon that is super dry. This one has really fresh flavor… Love the ambiance!

Awesome! So glad more yummy restaurants are opening up in my neck of the woods. I’ve heard good things about Chi Mc in Annandale and am glad we got to try it out in their new Chantilly location. Upon entering, employees were very attentive and friendly. Everyone here was super kind with an upbeat attitude. I called in earlier to place an order for take out. Our order was ready within 35 mins. Keep in mind, it takes time for their chicken to be prepared so if you’re super hungry, call in ahead of time. Whether you are eating in or placing an order to go. While we waited for our order, we sat at the bar and were given some water. That was kind of them. Their chicken is delicious. The skin has a delightful crunch to it and the meat is tender. Flavors are on point. Their cajun fries were also well prepared. Dip it into their spicy mayo sauce and you’ve got yourself a winning combo. Their chicken comes with your choice of rice, pickled radish, or cabbage salad. The restaurant is neat and clean. Their menu has a variety of other dishes as well. We will definitely be back: D

My experience at Chi Mc was very pleasant and very enjoyable. Since our whole party were newbies our server gave an entire drill down of the entire menu. We ended up ordering two large wing platters(20 wings each) with half spice and half soy flavors. The wings were well cooked and really crispy, which I really liked. I’m someone who cannot handle spiciness very well but the spicy flavor was edible for my pallet. If you are looking for a good Korean chicken joint this is the spot!

SO good! And the people here are really sweet. Sure, there’s a bit of a wait but for freshly fried, perfectly crispy wings, would you really want to compromise that kind of quality? Better than bon chon. The lunch specials are great for those wanting to try for the first time.

Yay! I’m so happy Chi Mc opened close to home! Finally I don’t have to drive all the way to Centreville or Annandale. Chi Mc! Their chicken is definitely amazing good! Extra crispy and delicious sauce! It’s so good I can eat a large all by myself! Even when you carry out/pick up the chicken, it’s still crispy when you get home! I love spicy and I usually get spicy/extra spicy. I get a large wings. Drumsticks are just too big and doesn’t taste as good as those small wings. Well, that’s just my opinion. There are many people that prefers drumsticks over wings. Nothing else on the menu really interest me. It’s not that it’s not good or anything. It’s all pretty good on their menu especially their french fries, fries are so so crispy. Their Cajun fries are definitely a must order for an appetizer. Customer service at times can be a bit slow, depends on how busy the restaurant is and how many people are working but if you are just carrying out/picking up your order… the food is ready right at the time it was promised for pick up! Overall, service is good.

Literally the BEST wings I have ever had. Very crispy, served fresh and not overly sauced. Also had the crispy waffle fries with spicy mayo. We ate everything but the bones and the waitress was very friendly and helped us decide what to order.

Went in last night with my brother to catch end of AFC game. Place had just seated a large unexpected group. Could bode poorly for us but only added 10 minutes and the wings are OUTSTANDING. If you love Korean fried chicken you need to go here!

Tried out the place based on the reviews. It was okay, nothing to wow about. Tasted just like Bön Chon. Place is new so really enjoyed the clean restaurant. Service was great, but no beer! Place was not too busy and had a few take out orders. I would not go outta my ways to eat here unless im in the area. Fairfax or Centreville Bonchon is closer from home and I have no problem with them. A friend said that this franchise uses an identical chicken sauce as Bonchon. I really believe it. They taste the same.

The best korean chicken I had and so much closer to home. Stuck so far with BonChon, but Chi Mc won me over totally. Their chicken is soooo juicy & flavorful. YUMMMMMM!!! We also ordered French Fries — plain, which were super good and their Scallion Pancake(delish & super fresh). Since the belly can take only so much, I missed out on their fish cake soup(luuuuuv it) and so much more. But… will have that pretty soon: D Oh… super kudos to service team. Impeccable service, attentive and taking care of us with a smile. Couldn’t ask for more… Food: A+++ Service: A+++ Price Point: Right On :) Nice cozy ambiance.

We heard about this place thanks to all of you Unilocalers so we thought we’d give it a try. For this meal, we got carry-out. When you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted with a smell of garlic. Likely they keep vampires away!(Did you see any vampires? No? See, it works! LOL) We called in our order in advance, a MUST because it takes 35 – 40 minutes as they cook to order. We got the half spicy, half regular chicken. Since we were there early, we were offered water to drink while we waited, which was a nice touch. We got home and were definitely pleased with our order. The chicken is crispy. Along with the chicken we got radishes and cole slaw. The chicken was more than enough for our family of four. The spicy chicken is not too spicy, IMO. It won’t burn your mouth off the way the spicy at Cheogajip does(not that there is anything wrong with that…) Anyway, we would recommend this restaurant and go back sometime.

Move over Bön Chon this place is gunning for you and totally winning my vote. Their chicken is the juiciest and more flavorful than any other. Now like with all other Korean chicken joints your order takes time to cook. But that also means it’s totally better. Enjoy some massive and wickedly awesome french fries(better than Mickey Dees/no doubt about it. This is like some next level Dutch style French Fries) with a pitcher of beer while you wait or call ahead if you’re one of them ‘too busy to wait’ individuals. We enjoyed everything about this Friday night meal.

LOVE this place, wings are so delish and better than certain BONCHON locations such as Sterling and Leesburg… but just as good as Fairfax. The service is great and they have spam/kim chi fried rice with egg that was very good too. I am going to try their bulgogi plate next time as well. So glad they opened this Chantilly location, much closer to home.

I stopped by again today with my kids and one of their friend. They ordered the kimchee fried rice which I tried for the first time, and it was awesome. I would normally eat only their chicken with one or two sides, but kimchee fried rice was a home run! I’m not too much of fries person, but their Cajun fries were very crispy and good. Kids loved their mozzarella sticks. I think they make it themselves! Make sure to try the Kimchee fried rice. Next time I will be sure to order it, but topped with two eggs instead of one. Yummy!

Lovely service — super nice and attentive. We loved the chicken, though we wished the spicy was spicier. Kids loved it too. We got the house made fried mozzarella sticks. They were good and melty but probably will skip next time. Too many other things to try. A gem in the area and a nice alternative to BonChon. Much more comfortable dining area and so super clean.

I’m so glad there is now a second location in Chantilly — now I can go for lunch while at work! The chicken here is so much better than Bön Chon, and comparable to chicken places in Korea. The difference here is that the chicken wings themselves are juicier, crispier, and seem to be more fresh. If you didn’t know, Bön Chon uses frozen chicken(since they force all locations to go through a central supplier) and precooks their wings to reduce their wait times, resulting in faster service, but lower quality(and kinda soggy, smaller) wings. In addition, unlike Bön Chon, Chi Mc has a wide variety of Korean dishes to pick from in addition to their wings, and they also have lunch specials for both their chicken and for their Korean dishes. Can’t beat 8 wings, 4 drumsticks, or a combo mix for $ 8.95! Or grab one of three different kinds of fried rice for 8.95 or ramyun(ramen) for 4.95.

So, I visited for the third time today and called ahead for the chicken. They don’t open until 1200PM, but I called at 1130AM and they graciously offered to have the chicken ready by 1220PM. The chicken was perfect! Really crispy and flavorful. They just need to get their ABC license and this place will be ever popular.

My wife and I stumbled in this past Saturday after going to Baby’s R Us. Located a few doors down they had a sign which advertised Fried Chicken and Beer. As a huge fan of Bön Chon and Korean fried chicken in general I thought we should give it a shot. Also Beer. Upon walking in you are greeted by the delicious aromas that only come from that Korean chicken… spicy and savory. One slightly off putting aspect was the music selection which was 80’s soft rock… not sure that’s the right mood you should be trying to set. Anyway… Turns out we were the only ones in the entire establishment save for the very nice server and cook in the back, who popped his head out of the kitchen to smile at us while we were enjoying the food.(it’s nice to see folks taking pride in their work) The décor is a modern rustic aesthetic, wood panels line the walls and old timey light fixtures hang from the ceiling casting a(romantic?) mood. The establishment was very clean even in their bathrooms, which is something I look for. Flat screen TVs line the wall above the bar and the bar itself looks like it’s strictly a beer set up only maybe Soju at some point? We were seated and were promptly told that the liquor license had not yet gone through so my hopes for a beer were promptly dashed. The server told us that they just recently opened their doors a few weeks ago. We started with an order of their Cajun fries which were good for what they were… frozen seasoned fries, nothing really spectacular. I ordered the kim chee fried rice which I thought was pretty tasty. I thought the fried egg on top was slightly over cooked and would have preferred it to be more on the runny side… but I failed to ask for it that way. Otherwise pretty good. The bon chon or side dishes include the typical kim chee which, honestly tasted store bought, but not bad and sweet radish. They also brought out a small soup which was only so so, but it was free so who cares? We also ordered Korean Barley tea, which the server told us they roast in back. It was pretty damn good and I had several refills. We also ordered a mix of Soy Garlic and their Spicy wings which were perfect. The Soy Garlic wings were tasty and well seasoned. Now the Spicy wings… they were perfect. The heat came on slowly and peaked with beads of sweat falling down my face by the end in that euphoric feeling you get when you eat properly seasoned Korean style wings. We only saw one other customer who was picking up an order while we were there. Hopefully they get more business because their wings were on point. Five of the wings managed to survive my wrath. They were lovingly boxed up and brought home… they didn’t last long though as midnight approached and turned to destroy them. They taste pretty good cold too. Just FYI. :) I think once Chi Mc have their beer taps flowing I’ll be back with friends. It’s a bit of a haul for me to get out there but with a baby on the way I can see myself stopping there for a bite to eat after Baby’s R Us trips.
