It’s getting two stars for the nice waitstaff. Rubbery shrimp and lobster. My son was served a shrimp that wasn’t fully cleaned and had black gunk on it. The view is overrated from the porch we could only see boats, to get a good view there is an outdoor seating area but we couldn’t sit there. Also perturbed that we were turned away at 11:20 and the restaurant had lots of people in it. Came back at 11:30 and got seated but noticed even more people had been seated so it was weird to be asked to leave for ten minutes and not just offered a seat. Food was just not appetizing.

The chartroom is the best restaurant on Cape Cod. The reason why it is rated poorly is because people who come one time are expecting something that it isn’t. Mudslides and bake stuffed lobsters are unbelievable along with everything on the menu.

I’ve been here about 10 times now from when I anchor out in the Harbor(no other rest’s around?). From what I can tell they buy good quality seafood(Halibut and North Atlantic Sword). The problem is that they seem to cook everything okay, with a slant to over cooking at times(my Sword), but they just don’t use any finesse? They use a very oily and salty minced Anchovy«oil»(in large amounts) for the Sword topping, when they should simply use and make a compound Anchovy butter, with garlic, minced chives, lemon juice and/or lemon pepper. Simple. Baked potatoes were old at the first seating of 5:30pm, like hanging around in a covered Bain Marie for 90 minutes wrapped in foil. No toppings were served except butter and sour cream Vegetables, a purée of sweet potato(really boring texture and taste) and pretty lame green beans, maybe canned. Portions are on the larger side. I didn’t think my dinner was worth $ 100 bucks with a beer and overpriced white wine. My wife’s Halibut special was a ginger rubbed Asian thing with a tropical fruit salsa, and of course you can never find any tropical fruits in there. I don’t think they used fresh ginger, it was dry ginger and something else that was very hot. A perfect way to ruin fresh Halibut! I also had a fish chowder which was pretty lame. There is no pride per-se in cooking there, they just churn it out… but maybe that’s what Cape people want or have come to expect? They are not really that busy, and with their simplistic Cape cuisine they could do much better! The overall vibe was good with lots of drinkers and people waiting to eat. The nautical scene is addicting as well. As far as summer and touristy restaurants go it should be at least as good as a legal Seafood’s?, but it is consistent… Drinks are expensive I think for the Cape, and badly organized with all the outside guests waiting in line for drinks

My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant. You cannot beat the sunsets and the relaxing views of the Harbor. My husband is crazy for the stuffed lobster and every time we come to the Cape for a visit we make it a point to eat here. The piano playing just makes the whole experience even better!

The setting is beautiful but the food is less than average. For the price I would have expected much better. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant but rather just the area for a beautiful walk.

We were biking in the area and it was convenient for lunch. I was hesitant due to its low rating, but I’m really glad we came. I had a delicious avocado and crab salad. My hubby had a comforting chicken pot pie. He said the stuffed quahog was the best that he has had. They have an ample wine list. The waterfront location can’t be beat. And the service was warm and very attentive. The owner even had her granddaughter working for her, which I loved. Don’t be turned off by its stars, this is a lovely spot to dine, as long as you’re not looking for a gourmet experience.

Unilocal is usually a go to for reviews. Glad I trusted a local on this one. Not the best restaurant in the world, but certainly better than 2 ½ stars. Mashpee local recommended this place for a great lobster sandwich or lobster salad. So we went Labor Day evening. Lobster sandwich wasn’t cheap($ 28, I believe), but was easily twice the meat of any other Lobster roll I’ve ever had. Had a bit more dressing and a lot more crunch(celery?) than I was used to on a lobster sandwich, though maybe that’s the way they are made on the Cape. Service was fine. High chair for the lil dude, who enjoyed the crab cake appetizer. Live piano music. Seems to be a well regarded local spot. Glad we went.

I live in the area and I enjoy cocktails here on Sunday afternoon. I don’t eat fish, so I got a steak. Apparently, they went to the bland steak store, because there was zero flavor. My wife enjoyed her scrod though and I had a bite and thought it was good as well. Ordered a milk for my daughter and it was warm. Really? Warm milk? Afternoon cocktails is all this place has top post sure too location.

We love the setting. Good steamers and mussels. Wonderful setting, and if a wait, great place to hang out.

We love coming here in season when we are on the Cape. The sun was strong as it was setting, always a beautiful sight in Catumet. Tonight my wife and I started with a spinach salad with honey mustard dressing. For entrees, my wife had the scallops(10 – 12 of them) and I had the salmon special served with a basil cream sauce. Both were excellent. As the sun started setting, we committed to coming back soon.

5 star for location, one star for parking, 2 – 3 stars for food and 2 stars for length of time to get a drink. I still keep going back though when down the cape. I love the location that much, something relaxing about it. This of course makes not sense as the lines and table stalking can make you nuts! Get aggressive if going for drinks and stalk a table. Don’t go if you don’t have patience.

Absolutely wonderful. Expensive, but worth it. The lamb is a religious experience. Everything from the salad and rolls to the green peas and sweet mashed potatoes in the side was delicious. Highly recommend this place. They also had live music, piano and upright bass player!

I have visited the Chart Room six or seven times over the past several years. The two stars are for setting and the evening piano bar which we enjoyed and remembered. However I recently took visiting California friends for brunch; while the setting is still interesting(no piano bar for lunch) we found the food simply dreadful. My «medium-rare» steak was near well done, leather-like. I realize seafood should be a better choice but not for our brunch. Two members unfortunately had the crab cake, apparently just out of the box it must have bee frozen in. On reflection, we should all have sent the food back but … This is a good place to watch sunset, have a beer and sing along at the piano bar. I hate to be crabby but don’t expect good food. Ken

We had dinner here again on Tuesday evening and it was outstanding. We started with drinks followed by appetizers. .chicken soup for Beverly and stuffed quahog for me. For an entrée Beverly had scallops and I had swordfish with anchovy butter. The dishes came with a fresh garden salad, potato, vegetables, and rolls that were fresh from the oven. The fish dishes were very fresh and delicious. After dinner we enjoyed mudslides on the patio while enjoying a magnificent sunset. The service we received was great especially on a very busy evening. Thank you Chart Room for another memorable evening!

I have come here to try their mudslides a couple of times but a friend was requesting to have lunch here for a while so we finally made it. She had the Scallops dish and loved it. I had the Scrod in Lemon Butter and I have to say it was bland. It didn’t really taste like anything even though it had bread crumbs. Luckily the home fries were delicious and tasty so I had something to enjoy. I will stick to coming here for drinks and apps. The Crab cake app was definitely worth it. I want to have it again! Mudslides are good and strong.

While the Chart Room is nearly always very busy, I found their stuffed quahog and ½ lobster roll delicious. The lobster roll is made just the way I like it — lots of lobster, very little mayo. Even ordering the ½ size, I had plenty to take home. Quahog was just spicy enough and served with warm, drawn butter. If you want a quiet, intimate place — this is not it. It’s noisy and fun. Staff — with the exception of Wendy who’s been there for over 25 years, is young, but friendly. It’s a tough room outside because it’s always packed, but we were very pleased.

After reading a few of the lower starred reviews, I think people really need to stop being so crabby!(Get it?) I think the Chart Room is a great spot on the Cape. I came with a couple of guys that have been hitting this place up since they were kids — in fact, they worked here for many summers while they stayed on the Cape during school break. And that’s just the thing — the staff is young, pre-college for the most part. There’s definitely a hand full of old-timers but come on people, do you really expect someone to make the Chart Room their full-time all-year job? This place clearly only is thriving in the summer months so their staff is going to be temporary and eventually grow up like ANY vacation town out there. Here’s what we ate, and let me tell you — it was FANTASTIC! Clams Casino — I had never had these before, and I HIGHLY suggest ordering two, because they’re just that good! Steamers — okay, these aren’t hard to screw up. They were sweet, plentiful and made me happy to be on the Cape. For my entrée I got the Swordfish(apparently it’s a must-order if «T» is in the kitchen) with anchovy butter on the side. The fish was cooked to perfection, literally. I’m just not a huge fan of anchovies so I used the butter sparingly and it worked out juuuust fine. So good! One of my friends got a special with some sort of mango mahi mahi and a coconut rice — it looked amazing and she gobbled it right up. They have a great outdoor area looking onto the marina that regulars camp themselves out at. It gets crowded because it’s a fun spot — a good mix of ages, and everyone seems to know everyone. I honestly feel bad for the people that had a bad time here but it’s like every other place on the Cape and Islands that’s popular — good food, good drinks, might have to wait awhile for your table, but lots of happy people and happy staff. Last but not least, do yourself a favor and order their famous Mudslide. It’s definitely the equivalent of a boozy ice cream sundae in a cup, but it’s amazing!
