My brother and I held a Bereavement lunch for our family and friends at the Grill over the past week. I want to share how terribly helpful their manager Frank was with the arrangements and providing this lunch at the last minute. I called them the day before the funeral and they were actually closed but he took my call and provided me the confidence that this would be taken care of. We made our choice for buffet and that was it. In a time like this when the family is overwhelmed by plans and details not to mention the loss of a loved one it was nice to know that there are still such kind people that will help you with these plans. The waitstaff were terrific and the lunch we chose was also delicious. Thanks to everyone there for making our family gathering such a pleasant one! My father’s burial was at the Veterans Memorial cemetery right down the street, this could not have been a more convenient or pleasant place to gather! The views here are spectacular even in the winter months.

My family and i went for $ 5 burger night. $ 5 covers the meat and bun, everything else is a charge. The burger wasn’t anything great. I’ve been here at other times and find the food to be decent but a bit overpriced. The«$ 5 burger» is not really $ 5…if you like lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, or any fries with that.

Went here for a company holiday party and was hugely disappointed. We were charged $ 6 per person for hors d’oevres and $ 32 per person for the dinner. For $ 6 per person they put out a SINGLE dinner plate with squares of jack and cheddar cheese, and a small basket of crackers on the corner of the bar, for the entire party to share. The crackers were stale, but once they were eaten, they did not refresh the plate. Everyone had to squeeze by each other if they wanted some. For the dinner it was a buffet, the food was boring and mediocre, water glasses were not refilled, and they handled my dinner roll with their bare hands after I had placed it on my dish to move it over to put the entrée on my dish. For dessert they again placed a single dinner plate with chocolate chip cookies on the corner of the bar. They tasted like they came from a mix. Needless to say I think there is a huge profit margin and they should invest some of that back into the service and food. I will never choose this place for any event.

I have heard a lot of great things about this place but I was not overly impressed. We came in around 5 on a Friday night and they weren’t too busy yet. Our waitress, although nice, was not too attentive and didn’t seem to really care that we needed service. She seemed more concerned about her tables outside. I had a parm encrusted cod over risotto. The fish was just OK — not very flavorful and lacked the really fresh texture. The risotto fell very flat being a little too hard and having a weird aftertaste. We opted to share the massive hunk of chocolate cake for dessert. A few bites in my friend found a hair. This happens; I am not being one of those crazy complainers! The waitress did take it off of our bill but never offered us a new one. At most restaurants there would be some type of apology… there was none from her or a manager. It seemed like they wanted to just ignore it. The restaurant is very nice and clean and the views of the golf course and beyond are beautiful.

Pleasantly surprised. Looking for a warm spot to stop for a quick business chat at the bridge and this place was perfect.

We ate here at sunset several weeks ago. When the hostess sat us(outside on the patio overlooking the golf course and with views of the ocean) I mentioned that the view was incredible and that we had never eaten there before, her reply… she grunted. Hello, lost opportunity! How about«I know the view here is the best» or «you are going to have a great evening, the food here is delicious». The rolls that we had to wait for(they had some fresh ones in the oven) came with a golf ball size frozen middle. We also waited too long for the main course to come. Other than that the chowder was good, the salad was yummy. We both enjoyed our main course. We would return at least once more to see if the overall experience is better.

Sunset Grille is a great place to get great food and drinks. Best clam chowder around. I love it when the Sky Bar opens up outside and you can sit in the Adirondack chairs and watch the sun set. The bruschetta is amazing and their salads are really good too. Nice friendly staff. Clean bathrooms and just good atmosphere. You feel fancy being in there it’s so nicely decorated. My brother and my friends also both had their weddings their upstairs and that was killing it ! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Frank, Thank you very much for finally taking my phone call yesterday regarding my sons christening party. I was starting to give up after making several calls over the past few days and leaving messages for you to no avail. I want you to know that we have decided to go in another direction for my sons christening party and we will not need the Sunset Grille’s services on 5÷24÷14. To be candid as a fellow local business person I was put off after our conversation yesterday. In the past we booked our wedding, our daughters christening and several Company parties in your establishment over the past ten years. In addition I personally have sent the Sunset Grille many customers from out of town as work in retail in Buzzards Bay every weekend. When I was speaking with you I felt as though I was putting you out to book a 30 plus person party for my sons christening engagement. Yesterday you mentioned us «having communication problems with bringing in cake and a cheese plate to past functions». To set the record straight first of all we inquired with your management staff prior to the event if it was ok to bring in a cake. They told us it was no problem and we brought the cake in. Secondly you mentioned we brought in a cheese and cracker plate. After you brought up the cheese plate you stated«I am in the business of selling food». We did not bring a cheese plate in to the last event, one of our older guests brought the plate in as a gift to us. We had no control of what we feel is a very nice gesture from our guest and certainly were not going to say no to her. Frank as a local business person and someone with over 20 years’ experience in sales and customer service, I cannot even fathom why you would nit-pick over something as trivial as a cheese plate. In my humble professional opinion I would never treat a repeat customer like you treated me yesterday. When you break it down it’s a case of being pennywise and dollar foolish. I feel bad because all of the business and referrals I have given your establishment since«2004» seems to be unappreciated. I wish you and the Sunset Grille continued success and hope we were not too much of a bother the past few days. Sincerely,
R.D.

I have been really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately, our 1st impression left a bad taste in our mouths. We went for lunch and the room was only half filled. The waitress with red/brown hair asked us if we had a reservation, we didnt so she said there might be a wait and said she’d go check. She never came back. 10 minutes later my boyfriend was frustrated and wanted to leave so before we left I decided to ask another waitress and she said there shouldn’t be a wait and checked and sat us at one of the MANY empty tables. The cod was really good and plentiful and the clam chowder was tasty but unfortunately, we won’t be going back. Leaving customers waiting when your dining room is empty is rude and unprofessional. I am a waitress myself just down the street and I would never treat anyone who walks in like that.

Stopped here for a family lunch on our way Falmouth. Found it because of Unilocal and what a pleasant surprise. Beautiful location and view, above average food and friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

No bad thinsg to say, it was great all around. Beautiful view of the ocean over the golf course and the sunset was like a travel brochure. Service, food, ambiance etc… were all top notch. Can’t wait to go back, just wish summer wasn’t almost over and I waited too long to try this place.

So we just went to dinner at the Sunset Grill and the sunset was beautiful, but our meal was nothing special. It looked great, but had no taste. The kids menu was nothing special either, just your traditional chicken nuggets, PB&J, grilled cheese, etc. which is always very disappointing. The dessert menu was extensive and tasty, but who goes out to dinner only wanting a good dessert. The golf course was beautiful to overlook. I just wouldn’t say that I would recommend this place other than for drinks and to watch the sunset.

I have to start by saying that the view at sunset is absolutely amazing. Also, our server was fabulous! I went with some family members for dinner and we all had a great experience. My drink was on the specials list and it was just okay. We enjoyed the rolls — each person was brought a roll rather than have a bread basket. Many of us ordered off the specials menu for the night. I had a steak with mashed potatoes — it was fabulous. One of my cousins had the Brookside burger and he loved his dinner. My grandmother had the steak tips, which was also a hit. After dinner our server brought over a plate of desserts, rather than present a dessert menu. I tried the peanut butter pie, which was divine. My grandmother had the carrot cake, which others at the table had to sample. Here are the things I look for to give five stars: ambience — check service — check quality of food, taking into account price — check parking — check I would definitely come back! Highly recommend!

Being a golf course I was expecting a high-class, snobby place. But everywhere else was either closed or a dive. With my three kids in tow, I was expecting to be either turned away at the door or a less than warm welcome. I could not have been more wrong. The place is low key, the staff are super friendly, and the food reasonably priced. They have a kids menu. The seating is comfortable on padded armchairs. We had a great time overlooking the greens as we ate our giant nachos. Highly recommended for a decent meal in the area, which can be a culinary desert.

We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding held here and were disappointed. We had specialty requests that we were told could be accomodated(vegetarian meal), but they really weren’t creative or knowledgable with that cuisine. We asked for brown rice risotto instead of white rice and they served white rice. Much worse, we ordered a separate vegan meal for a few of the guests(a stir-fry) but they simply didn’t serve it — The vegans(including a bride) just got a repeat of the salad course and went very hungry! Most of our guests were happy with the meal and the service was fine, but from our end we were unhappy. We also had trouble getting them to return our calls or emails leading up to the event. It’s a nice-looking place with a good view and for an event like ours we were impressed with the price compared to what less-nice places were charging. We were supposed to have our event outside but when it rained they were flexible and accomodated us inside. Its not a bad place at all, but we were just really underwhelmed with the food itself and our wishes being executed.

What a great experience! My family made reservation for me for my birthday here! It is unexpected that you would find this type of atmosphere and building in the location that it is in(right off rt. 28 S) The outside of the restaurant is beautiful, as you enter there is a large foyer almost like you would expect in a home and then straight ahead is a large dining room with large stone fireplace beautiful exposed beams and a phenomenal view.(I can picture a small intimate wedding here, the grounds would make for a great location) The food and service were fantastic. We had a party of 6, and I think I tried everyone meal and a bite of clam chowder. Everything I put in my mouth was delicious. I got the stuffed pork chop with mashed and asparagus, also ordered at the table, Pepper Black Steak, Clam Chowder, Seafood Platter, Burgers. The steak was one of the best steaks I have ever had, and the fish on the seafood platter was so fresh and flakey… the Scallops were U10 Scallops(giant)… The coleslaw was delish… The prices I thought were reasonable for the quality and location of the restaurant. It was not your typical tourist trap you normally find in this area. In terms of dress we saw everything(it was still the off season) we sall some people dressed in collared shirts and then there were some people in jeans. I would assume in the summer a collared shirt and dress pants or khakis would be the typical attire worn at a place like this. WOULDDEFINITELYRECOMMEND! TRYTHISPLACE!!!

We found this to be one of the better Upper Cape restaurants, with a nice menu of seafood and American favorites with a few modern twists, like the sweet pea ravioli that came with the pistachio encrusted salmon special. It’s nice inside but the vibe is still pretty casual, and the prices are good for the Cape, where you pay at least $ 20 for entrees even at the roadside clam shacks and places that only serve seafood either deep fried or drowned in butter and Ritz cracker crumbs. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE fried whole belly clams, but it’s nice to have some other options. Nice clubhouse for the golf club, with a small bar and an event space upstairs that was hosting a wedding or birthday one evening when we ate there. Great place to sit outside and have a cocktail and watch the sunset with distant water views of Buzzards Bay past the first hole and the driving range.
