The crust was good but barely any toppings or sauce and the salad had ½ teaspoon of feta. So not the old Nicks. Large taco pizza had barely any meat. What a disappointment!

My family owns a pizza restaurant which I helped run for several years growing up so I like to think that I know pizza pretty well. Hands down this is the best pizza in Carson City. Picked up an XL pie today for the first time and I kid you not it weighed at least 5 pounds. It easily fed my staff of 5 with 2 slices left over. I will definitely be a repeat customer at The Thick Slice.

As you can tell, from the owner’s response to my first review, this place is garbage. I guess its my fault that you list business hours and then don’t stay open. Joke for a pizza place. I especially love his line about being cognizant. Lol, how about being open when you say you are going to be open? Did that ever occur to you?

There is a lot to enjoy and appreciate at The Thick Slice. I love the options for pizza toppings. They have real ingredients. The sauce is great and homemade. I love the ranch as well. This a great local pizza place with a great atmosphere. It’s definitely worth a try if you haven’t already. The employees are friendly and helpful. The owner is always trying new things and adding to the menu. Would recommend to friends and family

I love this place! Best pizza in Carson City! Everything is made in house and the highest quality. Great crust and friendly service. A must stop for travelers and part of the rotation for us locals.

Pizza has been great every time we have come here. The employees have always been kind and deliver prompt service. I recommend the garlic bread, for the price you get a lot and it is delicious. It is a great locally owned business. I would recommend anyone to give this place a try. I would post pictures of my garlic bread and pizza but I already ate it.

So, sitting in my house, sick as a dog with this stupid flu, and tired of everything there is in the house. Plus, I don’t feel like getting up to breathe, much less cook. So, I got on Unilocal because it never lets me down. My wife LOVES Round Table, so we usually get that, but since I’m home alone, and a big boy, I wanted something new. I called TSPC, and they’re a little busy(it WAS the lunch rush) but I can hear the guy getting other people to take care of that side of the phone so that he can focus on me. Super Cool points: +1. He takes my info, wants to make sure he’s got it straight so my pizza is hot, and we drop into those couple minutes of «locals talk» when you are in a town so small. Super Cool points: +2 I order my ‘za(pepperoni and garlic XL) and I also ask if they have bread sticks or something, and he says they have cheezy bread sticks, and I’m immediately, like. I’ll take a miss on those. Not a big fan of that sort of bread stick, and the thought actually makes me a little foul cuz I’m sick. Well, he actually notices, and says if I really want them he can make them however I like. Super Cool points: +10 We get to the end of the line, I pay him(and just realized I didn’t tip enough! Doh!) and I ask him if I need to sign when the guy gets here or if he can just leave it outside. He gets a little weird at this(which I completely understand these days) and says, «Well, I’d really like you to sign…» to which I immediately reply, «Oh sorry, I’m not trying to be fishy, I’m just sick and trying to avoid getting as many people sick as I can…» to which he is immediately appreciative, and says back to me, that he is going to include some extra fresh garlic for me so that I can kill all these cooties! We both laugh about it, and I’m continuing to be thrilled about my choice. Super Cool points: +1,000 The delivery guy gets here so fast, I think he might have been hiding in my yard! Then, as he’s leaving, he tells me that the guys put some extra garlic in there for me and starts telling me how I should sprinkle it on everything. Man, it was like my Mom showed up and was actually in the mood to take care of me for once! Super Cool points: +1,000,000 I get in, open up the bag, and these guys have thrown plates, napkins, and stuff so I don’t need to dirty any dishes, and then I find a TON of fresh cut garlic, just as I was promised. Man, they just don’t make people like this anymore, and I sure wish they did. These guys are incredible, and I wish them EVERYSINGLESUCCESS that I can. To top it off, the pie is pretty damn tasty too! But man, this sort of service? Hell, I’d buy my toilet paper and my car tires from these guys, if they sold it! If you want a great experience, and some tasty chow, give these guys a call!

Very good pizza. We stopped in at 4:00 pm on Christmas Eve because most places were already closed(unimaginable to us tourists here from DC/NYC who are used to places staying open on Holidays). Pizza was very tasty, hot and had great crust. Glad we were able to get a bite before the entire city shut down. We never found anyplace open for dinner so we drove to Lake Tahoe in the snow to eat dinner. Sad in my opinion!

Best pizza! Great quality ingredients, prompt service. Highly recommend this place. But If you has no taste, want bland run of the mill shit on card board, this is not the place for you.

I live in Dayton, where there is a complete VOID of quality pizza. So I have to say driving to Carson City to get quality Pizza made by a family owned business, and not a chain is worth it. The pizza has always been very good, although I once got a pizza that was not a hot as it should have been. So they heated it up till it was bubbly brown on top. They don’t skimp on the cheese, and the ingredients are fresh and plentiful. Nice big chunks of bacon, not bits. I have traveled throughout the Nation and there are many styles of Pizza, the Thick Slice reminds me of Chicago style Pizza with their own twist. So if you want a thin crust pizza read the name. You won’t find any wimpy pizza here. Is there room for improvement, yes. Great pizza can always become greater. But they are a young establishment and I am sure they become better as time passes.

Good pizza but not enough sauce. Fresh toppings. Great Salad, needed more feta cheese. For Carson city it’s ok but in Cali not good. Too much crust, I can make better pizza at home unfortunately. Had to try it not a lot of places to order, also kind of expensive for what you get.

I had been craving pizza for weeks and decided to stop for lunch at Thick Slice Pizza Co on my way to Lake Tahoe. My dad was actually the one who pointed it out as we were driving down E. William Street. It was nearly 12 and the place was empty, which meant we would get our order at a relatively quick pace. We each ordered a meaty slice($ 3.95 seemed like a pretty good deal to us). We expected our slices fast, but not so fast that it was out before we could even fill our drinks. I was very surprised to say the least. Their slices live up to their name, Thick Slice Pizza Co. I’m glad I didn’t order two, because these slices were HUGE. Unfortunately, I was disappointed as soon as I took my first bite and realized my pizza was room temperature and the dough was rather flimsy. Don’t get me wrong, I realize when you order pizza by the slice it is already pre-made… but couldn’t you have at least stuck it back in the oven for 10 minutes or so? I would’ve rather waited a few more minutes if it meant I was going to get a crispy, hot slice of pizza. If they were swamped with customers, I would have been a little more understanding as to why my pizza didn’t live up to my expectations of the place.

I decided to come back here the other day based mostly on the fact that my BF had a 2 for 1 pizza coupon. 2 pizzas for the price of one… well OK then. I knew I couldn’t eat even one of them by myself, so I got them to go and figured I’d freeze the rest for later. I ordered the«Meaty» and the«Deluxe» large sized for $ 20 each and with the coupon it was just $ 20 for 2 of them. When I looked at my receipt, looks like I got charged $ 20.87 instead of $ 20 for each pizza, I guess there’s a to go extra charge for the box or something. I get it, those boxes ain’t free for the business, but I didn’t see anywhere on the menu board that there was this to go charge. NO biggie, but still … The pizzas were hot and tasted like before. I’m not sure I’d be willing to pay $ 20 for one of those, but for $ 10 bucks each, it’s OK. There’s just an intrinsic worth you get with food, as to whether is worth it to you. I’d come back with a 2 for 1 coupon, but probably not otherwise.

Finally I got to try their chicken wings. I ordered 10 pieces of wings with spicy sauce and ranch. The sauce was good, not too spicy for me personally as I’m a chili addict. The wings itself fried perfectly and chicken cooked perfect. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza but I can’t eat all of it. The pizza was very good, cheesey in and out.

Thick slice pizza is my coworkers and my favorite pizza delivery place in Carson City, the guys favorite pizza is the Romana and mine is the Spinach. Since I haven’t tried the Romana(I’m a vegetarian) I’m only going to comment on my favorite, their Spinach. If you have read other reviews it is true the crust is a little on the thick side, but the pizza is extremely tasty! Extremely tasty! The Spinach pizza is packed nay loaded with Spinach, Garlic, Feta Cheese, and Fresh Tomatoes. They do not skimp on the toppings at all! I don’t get the negative reviews here! The taste far outweighs the thick crust! Moreover, the pizza isn’t at all greasy and the ingredients are super fresh. Lastly, every time we have had pizza delivered they have always been polite and professional on the phone and they have always made the delivery by the time we requested.

Reminiscent of the old location. Pizza tastes the same and the prices are fairly consistent. They still make tasty Greek salads but they’ve stopped selling sandwiches. Asked the cashier why and he said they weren’t making money on them… But the sign says Pizza-Wings-Subs. Maybe the management should have priced the sandwiches accordingly so they could continue to offer those options? Unfortunate. I enjoy a good greasy thick slice of pizza that remains this places bread and butter.

There once was a legendary pizza place in Carson City, a hub of family dining and heated discussions amongst its ardent fans. Patrons were kept entertained by the lively banter between the Greek immigrant couple running the joint. Now retired but still talking over one another, the story of their old place is written on the walls at The Thick Slice Pizza Company, a new pizzeria recently opened by their daughter and son-in-law featuring a mix of old recipes and new ideas. My wife and I joined a group of friends at the new place, which allowed us to try a variety of dishes. The Greek Salad was fresh and inviting(lettuce, feta, tomato, olives, bell pepper, red onion, croutons($ 6.50 for a large plate), though the pieces of lettuce ranged from very small to extremely large. The flavors were fine, I’m just not a fan of chopping my salad with a fork. Pizzas range from a 10″ cheese($ 8) to 18″ extra-large specialty pies with a variety of toppings($ 29). Additionally, you can build your own or order by the slice. Sauce is an important factor in judging pizza, and this family recipe is unlike any I’ve tasted. I think I heard mention of cumin and coriander? It doesn’t seem to include much oregano, basil or garlic, yet it works. So are the slices thick? Yes, they most certainly are. I prefer a thin to medium thick crust, but if you like it really big and bready – as does my wife – you’ll probably love this. I have to admit it was very good for the style, with enough crispness on the bottom to keep me interested. In fact, I enjoyed the«bones» best, that end piece of crust some people leave on the plate. These pizza bones were crunchy, chewy breadsticks that shouldn’t go to waste. At home I set aside some sauce just for dipping the bones. Mmmmmmm. Of the pizza specialities served, I tried the Spinach(spinach, garlic, feta, tomato), Grecian(linguiça, garlic, tomato, feta), Romana(artichoke hearts, linguiça, fresh garlic, olives, tomato), and Mexicali(cheddar, chorizo, cilantro, green onion, tomato, jalapeño). They were all pretty good, but the Mexicali won me over. The combination of that unique sauce with those ingredients really worked for me, although I’d suggest ditching the cheddar for Mexican oaxaca and cotija cheeses to really punch up the effect. Chicken wings in either spicy or barbecue sauce were served(5 for $ 4.90) but I have to be brutally honest on this subject. For me, no breaded, oven-baked wing can compare against a plain poultry appendage cooked until crispy golden in a bath of 400 degree oil. I realize some pizza places do the oven method because they simply don’t have deep fryers. And I know there must be people who enjoy wings done this way. But those I sampled here were extremely mushy and really disappointing. There are much better things on the menu, particularly the sandwiches. The sandwiches are served on a locally-sourced, 8″ sourdough roll and are a great deal for the dough($ 5.80). I tried all three: Pastrami(cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, Greek dressing, pastrami), Gyro(cheese, tzatziki, lettuce, tomato, gyro meat), and Meatball(spicy Italian-style meatballs, pizza sauce, cheese). The Gyro was ok but would be better in a pita, skip the cheese. The pastrami had a vinegar note due to the dressing that really made it work well as a cold sandwich. But the meatball sub is the thing I’d come back for again and again. Unlike the usual sloppy mess of marinara, balls, and a sprinkling of cheese, this sucker features at least as much mozzarella as meat and the house sauce really shines. No joke, for value and flavor this is a sandwich I’d travel out of my way to eat again.

Quite frankly, it is just regular old pizza. I understand the nostalgia brought on from this place being born from the same family as Nick’s, but I was not impressed. I had two of their pizzas: regular pepperoni and a BBQ pizza. Both were fine pizzas, but just ok. Both had far too much cheese on them and unfortunately that drowned out the flavors of the other toppings and resulted in a gooey mess dripping off of each slice. Both of the sauces tasted very much like canned as well. Drop the amount of cheese, make some sauce from scratch, and increase the number of toppings and Thick Slice will have something truly unique to the Carson Valley. The crust is very good; one of the most interesting in town. I have faith that this place will get better with age. Until then though, try Pizza Factory down the street.

3.5 Ordered a small vegetarian pizza and it was pretty good for $ 14 including tax — enough for two people for sure. The kid taking orders needs to listen better though. I asked for a small veggie pizza, no olives. «Okay, a spinach pizza.» I repeated — a small veggie pizza, no olives. He then asked, «Oh, sorry, what was it that you didn’t want on it?» GAH. The pizza is delivered to your table after about 15 – 20 minutes, but no condiments can be found. Where is the red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper? Apparently, you have to ask for it. I’d suggest staff ask people if they’d like any of these so they can be delivered at the same time. Also, strangely, the pizza was not very hot. I’m not sure why — was it sitting for a while before it got to me? Anyway, it was fine, the pizza was decent and overall, it was a pleasant experience minus these little service issues. NOTE: The Unilocal app says this place has wifi, but I didn’t see any.
