We just popped in here for the first time. The proprietors are very friendly and the food was EXCELLENT! The ribs were as good as my father’s and that is really saying something. The portions are more than generous, so there is a big risk of overeating! I will definitely come again!

I got the 2-meat plate with sausage and brisket. For the 2 sides, I chose the macaroni and cheese and the twice baked potato. I also got a slice of pecan pie. The food was OK, not great. There wasn’t anything special about the sausage or brisket, and the macaroni and cheese and potato both had no taste at all. Macaroni and cheese did not taste like macaroni or cheese– it was totally tasteless. The free dinner rolls were pretty good. The pecan pie did not taste homeade and was very gooey.

I visited this restaurant the first time on a Friday evening. The place is cool with great air conditioning and ceiling fans. The food is well-prepared and the sides are better than a well-established BBQ chain which starts with«D.» The meats were well cooked and the basic sauce a little heartier than what you would get at Mr. D’s. The proprietors were friendly and helpful. My only complaint was that KSCS was playing too loudly and that it was too cool for my comfort.(To be fair, I’m not a fan of country music.) Overall, it’s a nice place, not fancy, but typical Texas BBQ style. Try it, you’ll like it!

Meat is very flavorful. Me and my husband noticed the grill smoking and stopped in. The pitmaster was really helpful in suggesting what to order. I got the 1 meat plate with brisket, twice baked mashed potatoes, and green beans. Everything was delish. Only room for improvement is the sauce. We got our food to go so I was able to put my favorite sauce on the brisket at home. Would def go back again! Don’t let the exterior of the building deter you. It’s nothing fancy but those are the types of places that typically have the best food.

Pretty decent barbeque with all the fixings, potato salad, beans, rolls, etc. Not too expensive either

First-time visit. Sampler 3-meat ribs(2 — perfect, smokey, with a little spice warmth after), brisket(didn’t get any bark but good smoke/tender/lean), jalapeño sausage(smokey, more rendered than most but the way I like it. Sweet tea(unsweetened available), nice rolls with a seasoned top. Lots of sides. I got mac ‘n’ cheese and jalapeño pintos. Free pickles, jalapeños(pickled as well as great grilled/quartered) and potato toppings. «Hot» BBQ sauce I thought was mislabeled it was so sweet … but it does warm up a little … eat the grilled japs to raise to your personal level. ;) I’ll be back for lunch some day soon. Beef rib special on Mondays. Pork rib special on Thursdsys.

I am so impressed with Old House BBQ! The staff is lovely and friendly, and I thought for sure that Jose Ramirez was one of the owners, or the son of the owner. I was incorrect. He was the cashier/host!!! He had such pride in his work, and in the restaurant! He asked us a few times throughout our meal, if we needed anything, and how we liked the food. The food was outstanding! We had pulled pork and ham, with salad, corn and Mac & cheese. Every bite was excellent! The BBQ sauce was flavorful and rich. All the«fixins» like sauce, sour cream, butter and cheese all on a central bar that made it great when I needed more of whatever! I give this place 5 stars, and they have 2 new customers, Sean Scott and me! Yum!

Hot sides were ice cold. The brisket was just ok. Kinda dry. Nothing special here. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here. If rather go to dickeys instead.

This was quite the surprise. Driving around with my grandma looking for a place to eat we stopped here. As with many barbecue places it’s not the thrills. It’s the food. this is no exception, basic restaurant with really good flavorful barbecue food. You looking for good BBQ and not the frills this is your place.

This place has some okay bbq the meat is good but the sauce is pretty watery and the sides need more seasoning but the bbq itself wasn’t bad.

I decided I wanted some really good barbeque on Sunday evening, so I thought I would give Old House a try. I like to support local businesses, and mom and pop places, so this seemed like a good place to start. When I entered, there were few customers seated in the dining room. As I approached the counter, there was a Mexican gentleman standing there to take my order. He offered no greeting, and just stared at me, waiting for me to tell him what I wanted. As I ordered, I suddenly realized that his english was every bit as bad as my Spanish.(If I am the owner, this is not whom I would choose to meet my customers first hand, just sayin. After he finally figured out what I wanted, he proceeded to put everything in a to– go container, which I never requested, but I went with it anyway to avoid confusion. I ordered the ribs and brisket dinner with 2 sides. The sides on the steam table looked a little tired, but I opted for barbeque beans and cheesy potatoes anyway. I received 3 ribs, 2 of which were merely bones with a very thick char of meat on them, and one which was fall of the bone tender, full of flavor, and juicy. I expressly asked the server for a fatter cut of brisket, which he dutifully filled. Had I gone with what he started to give me, it would have been dry and overly smoked.(Thank God I got that part understood) . Now to the sides. The cheesy potatoes tasted like they had melted plastic in them, not good at all. The beans tasted like they came straight out of a can, with little to no doctoring. Very bland. As I ate, I saw what looked like an owner, or manager, sifting though the receipts of the day, not really paying much attention to the customers. As I exited the restaurant, just a few feet away, he offered no(Thanks for coming in, Have a nice day, come back soon, kiss my ass and go to hell) nothing! Perhaps I am a bit old fashion, but while your counting your money, you should at least acknowledge the people that spent that money with you. I was really hoping for a good experience from a local entrepreneur, and was sadly disappointed. Will I return, probably not.

This place isn’t the best definition of Texas bbq, but rather… a synonym. It’s GOOD bbq with GOOD sides, plain and simple. But their sides are the reason why I would come back again. which is why this isn’t the best bbq place to take someone who’s never been to Texas before. I deducted a star because their ribs were small and dry. And if you don’t like sweet bbq sauce then be prepared to eat your meat dry. They have 3 different sauces: regular, spicy, and sweet. And ALL of them tasted sweet to me. I hate sweet bbq sauce with a passion. They also have free ice cream, senior discounts, and on Sunday kids eat FREE! Also, they have the best peach cobler in the world.

We came right around dinner time(around 5:00) and it seemed like with the exception for a few items, most of the sides and meats looked a little old. The only high notes for me were the ribs, which actually tasted really great(even the next day) and the bbq beans. The brisket looked great but was definitely dried out. Some pieces were bordering the beef jerky tough. The coleslaw and cheesy potato thing were the only sides at the time that looked somewhat fresh compared to the other items they had. It seems like this place would really be great if they tried a little harder. No one wants to eat crusty mac and cheese that’s been hangin out for so long that there’s a thick layer of that nasty sauce skin on top. And you can’t fool me by telling me it’s fresh; I don’t care how many times you mix that thing up with your ice cream scoop looking spoon. Ha!
