Blue House is not located in the same shopping center where H Mart is located; however, it is just diagonally across from the HMart. It’s located in the area near Hobby Lobby. Blue House serves good side dishes. The radish and cabbage kimchi are delicious. The sauteed eggplant and soybeans are also very delicious. The rice is cooked perfectly; you can select the white rice or the healthy rice with beans. If you like spicy fish, try the spicy beltfish. It is a large entrée, so please share with your guest/guests. Slices of beltfish are tenderly sauteed in a spicy sauce with sliced radishes. The flavor is amazing, and eat it with white rice and kimichi or the seasoned spinach side dish. The spicy pork is stir fried with sliced onions, julienned carrots, and slices of green onion in a delicious spicy sauce. The rice cake soup comes in a big bowl; it’s enough for two people. The broth is out of this world. The broth reminds me of the oxtail soup, but a mild version. It is flavorful and slices of rice cakes are cooked to perfection, which is al dente. Service is good. Just press the button near the table, and the the server is eager to help. The ladies are very nice and patient. If you have questions about the dish, they will grab one of the ladies who speak English. Just be patient and enjoy the food. Compared to Omi, I prefer Blue House because the food taste better. Compared to Gui Rock, I like the side dishes at Blue House. There is plenty of parking on this side of the area, and there is a variety of other restaurants other than Korean.

Yikes guys. I’m starting to second guess Unilocal’s reviewers. I just went there earlier today due to the ratings on here. Please do not go here… It is a Saturday night and it was completely dead. Bad sign already. I had made a reservation previously thinking that it might be packed and I already had bad customer service. The lady did not greet me until I said hello. once I requested for a reservation she said bye to me. I had to stop her before she hung up to write down my name! WHAT?! Ridiculous. So we got there and learned its $ 16.99 which is cheaper then Jin & Omi($ 19.99). We were seated in a cramped room since we had a larger party. Not a great place for big parties FYI. The customer service is just not great… She had a very unpleasant faec the whole time while serving us and getting our orders down. She did not seem happy to be there at all whatsoever(Don’t know why since it was DEAD). They have a buzzer to call the waitress but she never responded… We had to walk out and hunt her down to get any service. We were served our side dishes which were pretty decent… I was upset with the rice because the rice they served is combined with beans. I requested for white steam riced and it wasn’t an option. Which seems ridiculous to me. Anyways, our meat finally came out and wow we were disappointed. There isn’t a variety of meats to begin with and the meat seemed aged. The flavoring of the galbi and bugolgi were WAY too sweet. while the brisket and pork slices had no flavor whatsoever which is fine because they have a dipping sauce. ALTHOUGH, if the meat is like that at least have it thinly sliced. These meats were so poorly sliced it took forever to cook and forever to chew. They were so thick in size it just was not pleasant to eat. Please don’t go here. Bad customer service and food itself. Spend the extra three dollars and wait to eat somewhere that is deserving of your time and money. Jin Korean BBQ in plano off 75 is the ultimate best with such amazing service(quick and attentive), great selections of meats(Beef, Pork, Seafood, Spicy/No marinate/Marinate). If Jin is too far, then go for Omi. Omi was not my favorite at all but so much better than Blue House.

I don’t know why people complain about the service. There’s a button on the table if you need service and they come pretty fast. I actually prefer service like this. I don’t like waiters hovering. I did the all you can eat and they allowed my vegetation bf to order of the menu. The marinated meats were my favorite. I like the sides as well. I have no complaints. The menu was a little cheaper than the surrounding Korean restaurants. I would come back.

For Korean BBQ I prefer this place over Omi across the highway. The selection of meats is pretty good. The bulgogi is excellent, chicken is good. Could have done without the rib eye though. Very bland. Sides are plentiful. I have a thing for the bean sprouts and garlic. Service is ok, a little rude but whatev. The atmosphere isn’t very good either. Keep getting stuck in the private room near the back.

Good grief! Korean bbq is really not that hard to mess up, but somehow Blue House did. :(We were so excited to dine at another Korean BBQ establishment besides the usual Omi to see if we were missing anything out there. This was also for a going away party and we had a large group of 18 people. Nervous about the slow/nonexistent service(noted in several Unilocal reviews), we knew what we were getting ourselves into. The moment we walk in — we were pointed to our private room(woo hoo — we can be as loud as we want!) and the table was already set with side dishes, utsensils, and water! What an awesome start! As soon as everyone was seated, the meat arrived and we grilled away. The first meat we grilled was the nonmarinated beef brisket — delicious as you dip it in the sesame oil/salt sauce and add some of the spicy red pepper/soybean paste. We had plenty of lettuce for wrapping to go around and we all enjoyed it. Onward with the marinated meats. We had chicken, short rib, and regular beef… all which were, just ok. The short rib was the best, but the chicken and regular beef were lacking. I don’t know what happened with the marinade, but it tasted funky. An ingredient(or two) was either left out or they added something that wasn’t supposed to be added. Anyway, for whatever reason, it didn’t taste good at all. They also brought out too much of it, we felt kind of bad for not touching it. but then again we didn’t request the 2nd and 3rd plate they had brought out. The side dishes were just okay. They had the usual stuff: kimchee, brussel sprouts, fish cake slices, radish slices, etc… but none were really that impressive that we wanted more. The only side dish everyone liked was of course, the jabchae. Kind of nice that we got as much as we wanted so that was definitely a plus! Overall — service was kind of spotty, but it wasn’t too bad. We kept pressing the button and they eventually got around to getting us whatever we asked for. The price of $ 16.99 for the all you can eat was decent, but I think I’ll stick with Omi(priced at only $ 18.99) As for everyone else in our group — we all agree — it wasn’t that great and don’t think we’ll be back. Good efforts though!

We had a large party, so they stuck us in a private room. The private room was nice, but there weren’t any ventilation systems. They stuck 2 small fans in the corner to attempt to «air out» the room. After 30 minutes, the room was super smokey. After leaving the restaurant we all reeked! The girls and I sure did not appreciate that! The food was so-so. I’ve had better. They don’t really tell you what the marinated meats are, but it didn’t matter because I was not a fan of their marinate. It tasted funny and grainy to me for some reason. I just stuck with the un-marinated beef! They ran out of fish cakes and other side dishes. They also did not have any more Coke-Colas. What restaurant runs out of beverages? And what Korean place runs out of side dishes?! Thoroughly disappointed!!!

we tried the all you can eat bbq here. wasn’t really excited about portable grill that was covered with what looked like a piece of used foil, but could have been ok if the meat was good. sadly, the meat wasn’t good. The service was ok. Haven’t tried their food off the menu, but don’t think I will go back.

While some seem to consider Omi the gold standard of Korean BBQ, I prefer Blue House. The parking is better, the selection of meat is better and the rest is pretty much equivalent(average service and such). Omi has the grills built into the table which is nicer looking, but we’ve never had any problem with Blue House’s portable grills. Similar level of language barrier for English speakers. I like that Blue House has marinaded steak instead of the beef ribs. In case you’ve never been and you’re thinking about trying it — some details on Korean BBQ in general(from a non-korean): Don’t be afraid — its easy The Korean BBQ menu is not in english, don’t let this deter you. Just order the BBQ and they’ll bring you everything. *hint — they’ll bring you garlic and hot peppers if you want They will bring out 2 plates of meat. One is thin sliced beef(and maybe pork). The other is thicker marinaded meats(pork, steak and chicken). The thin sliced stuff is easy, just throw a bunch of it on. Take it off when you’re comfortable with it. Some char it, some eat it barely done. Dip the meat in that little bowl of oil they brought out(one for each person). Its salty and tasty. The meat is pretty average without it. You have to cut up the marinaded meat. I suggest doing it first, its just easier(that’s what the scissors are for). The marinaded stuff is great, its a little sweet and savory. The grill will get a little sticky — they will replace the foil periodically so you have a good surface to use. If it starts to char up and you don’t have new foil, just push the button. Also, if you ask, they’ll bring you forks. Everything is unlimited(even the little side dishes) so, ask for what you want. You might need to point if you don’t know what it is :-) The staff has always been helpful for me. If you’re doing it wrong, they’ll let you know and show you what to do.

Made a reservation for Mother’s Day dinner, and while it was great when we went in because everything was set up, I had requested specifically for it to be a table with a grill connected to it. We had the all you can eat BBQ special for a group of five, and it was actually mediocre at best. To people who have been reading my reviews, I give more stars based on food quality, but service is really important in terms of how I see a restaurant can be successful or not. Of course, I’m not a professional restaurant reviewer but that’s besides the point. For a comparison of Korean All you can eat BBQ, I would have gladly paid an extra few more dollars at Omi across the street to get the same quality food and much better service. It doesn’t have Beef Tongue in the BBQ choices, and I’m guessing that’s why the price is lower also. The portions were very big, and for a family of five, when we specifically requested certain types of meats, the server was rude and unwilling to listen, and still insisted on us consuming the options they brought. It’s not like we had a language barrier to conquer; our particular server spoke Chinese to us and knew exactly what we wanted and not. Everything basically had to be asked for with our hands and knees on the ground, and coming from an Asian background, I understand that service is not the best, yet this was just downright horrible. Taste. Daisuke T. says it best. Go here if the H Mart area is crowded or you’ll just be tasting Korean food quality available in the food court with slightly higher prices and horrible service. I would like to give it another try. but we’ll have to see. Thank you for nothing?

Blue House is in an older building and setting across from the busy Korea-town strip mall and from another AYCE bbq competitor. As part of our dining adventure, we sampled the AYCE bbq buffet. While the tables here were designed with built-in grills, it seems that the portable table-top burners were the grills of choice here. The man and I were pleased with the mostly beef offerings, and the banchan tended to be more memorable than previous places(including the large salad plate). Service here was just as comparable as other Asian establishments, meaning the staff was as accommodating as most places(though we were lucky to be visiting when we were one of two parties in the entire restaurant). Remember to use the buzzer; not every table has a clean line of sight to the kitchen and the servers could use a friendly reminder! Blue House had a nice sized Korean and Japanese menu, and I have ordered off it on later visits, such as grilled mackerel(excellent) and a not-so-spicy spicy noodle broth that was ultimately forgettable. Worth another visit? Most likely! But I would be less likely to share this place with others; Blue House is more of a personal pick than a must-go destination.

Walked in on a Sunday about 8:30 pm, an hour before closing. Employees were playing with hackey sacks but were actually friendly and nice when we walked in. Immediately got seated and got served our drinks of choice. Menu was both in Korean and English, which was good. My husband and I thought we could share a dinner portion of Beef Bulgogi($ 16.95, what was I thinking, could have done endless BBQ!) and the lady server gave me judgmental looks from the splitting option… Afraid of getting ninja chopped, I ordered spicy pork as well. Food came out at a decent time, along with many other delicious banchans(side dishes). Banchan: Korean pancakes(really good!), pickled bean sprouts, pickled radish, sweet broccoli, chap chae(stir fry glass noodles, yum!), some sort of mashed potatoes, kimchi, kimchi 2, pickled something(I have probably lost your trust after kimchi, don’t know my food that well) Beef Bulgogi: Sweet, cooked well, thinly sliced meat as it should be. Waaay better than the food court inside H-Mart. My husband nearly finished it by himself! Spicy Pork: Not spicy at all but that doesn’t bother me. I read from another review that it wasn’t and with that expectation, I enjoyed it. Tasted like they used the red paste they use in pickling and kimchi hahaha! And pork was a little on the fatty side. Did not ask for a refill on anything, even drinks. The whole death stare just kinda gotme scared to ask for anything anymore. But no that won’t stop me from coming back. Try going for lunch, may be more reasonable and worth the money.

Quick Review: Go here if the H mart area is crowded or you’re short on money. Food is decent but service is a hit and miss. I’ve been here a couple time since they opened. Since there tucked away inside a lot and away from the H mart area, they don’t get as many customers. However, don’t let that shy you away from this great korean place. It’s a little hard to get here if your not familiar with the carrollton area. Pretty much whether your coming from old denton or trinity mills, pull into the shopping area with the Hobby Lobby and you’ll find it. The great thing about Blue House is the price. Compared to Omi or the tofu place next to it, Blue House is a few bucks cheaper in order to compete. Fortunately the price does not affect the quality of their food Service wise, it’s a hit and miss. Service is the reason I have to give them three stars. When I came here with my white friends the waiters were very attentive and very helpful. However, when I come here with my girlfriend, which is the majority of the time, they are not very attentive and sometimes very hard to get their attention even when I press the call button. Now for the food. They have the usual standard fare of korean food but have a special section in korean: they have soondubu + something else combo for $ 10 even at dinner. Since I’m Japanese, I obviously couldn’t read it but the waiter assumed I was Korean so she pointed me to it when I just asked for the soondubu. Great misunderstanding. For the banchan they don’t skimp you in terms of quantity or quality. They give you just as many side dishes as omi and is just as good. For the unlimited bbq it’s only $ 16 which is cheaper than omi and other korean bbq place. I usually never get the unlimited bbq but I would get it here from the past reviews and the cheaper price. To sum up the place, if your in the h mart area and all the restaurants are crowded, get on old denton, cross the highway, pull into the Hobby Lobby shopping area and go here. You might get spotty service but the food will be good.

Great gem hidden in the old hobby lobby plaza. They bring out a huge dish of raw meats for $ 16.99 a person all you can eat korean bbq buffet. A much better choice than Omi across the street. The side dishes are awesome, so is the tofu soup. It’s just as good as ordering off the menu

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch, and we weren’t too impressed. We ordered the japchae, kalbi, spicy pork, and my usual kimchi jjigae. The japchae arrived on a very large dinner platter, much more than we expected, but the rest of the items were smaller, lunch-size portions. Each dish was about $ 10 or less. First came out the panchan. In addition to the various types of kimchi, they had mashed potatoes and pickled green beans with hot dog, which isn’t typical. But I ended up liking the potatoes. They didn’t have any of my favorites, and it was redundant to see two dishes of kongnamul(bean sprouts), one plain and one that looked spicy but wasn’t. In fact, the kimchi wasn’t spicy either. It tasted a little more sweet without any heat at all. The only dish we ran out of was the oi(cucumber) kimchi, but we didn’t get a refill. Most places will ask if you want a refill or give you one automatically if they see an empty dish, but you need to ask for one here. The japchae tasted okay, and the kalbi was good, but the spicy pork wasn’t spicy. Neither was the kimchi jjigae. That was my biggest complaint, just that absolutely nothing tasted spicy at all. I don’t expect it to be burning hot, but you do expect a bit of heat with Korean food. I like my food to be really spicy, so maybe my standards were a little high. Service was as expected, neither good nor bad. It’s best to press the call button for service, but they attended to us and filled our waters even when we didn’t. Our server was being friendly towards the end, as she tried to speak some Chinese to me. But based on the food, we’ll probably go elsewhere for Korean food next time.

The food at this place was barely tolerable. Worse than that, the service was the worst that I have ever encountered. The server never responded verbally when I said«Thank You» and basically just grunted. The grunt sounded like it pained her to even do that. We chose the all you can eat buffet with the meats. The server lined the cooking surface with aluminum foil, turned the heat on and just left. If this was our first time eating Korean food this way, we would not have known what to do but she didn’t care and didn’t even ask. She just walked away and disappeared. If she walked by out table, it appeared she made a concerted effort not to look in our direction. We had to catch her walking by and ask for a refill on the water and when the glasses were filled, she sat the pitcher on another table and muttered«Serve Yourself». We had to literally get up, go to the other table and serve ourself. It’s not like the place was full, we almost had the entire place to ourselves. There were two members of our party who looked like they were around 16 or so and one of them ordered a beer. The server just went ahead and served the beer without a second thought and did not even ask for identification. Let me tell you, this guy looks young. He has never NOT been asked for ID ever before, in fact he was almost asked to leave a Casino in Las Vegas before his ID was checked. Guess he can’t say that now. Most policies are to ask if the person even looks under 30. Not here, so if you are underage and you want to party it up, here’s your chance. But remember, the TABC might read these reviews(hope, hope, fingers crossed etc.) But back to the server. We began cooking our meal and if you have eaten food this way, you know that strips of meat are cooked, removed, new meat put on the cooking surface,(rinse, lather, repeat) things start to carmelize, stick to the foil, etc. The server did not return to the table and had to be called over to change the foil as it became torn, and broken into small pieces getting on the food. Boy, did we get the feeling that instead of asking her to do her job, we had caused her to get out of bed at 2:30 in the morning. Everything she did seemed like we were bothering her and she wasn’t shy at letting us see her agitation. We finished and waited and waited and had to call her over and ask for the check. Strangely, the only time during the entire ordeal that she even gave a hint of a smile was when the plastic was in her hand. She brought back the merchant copy, handed it to us and wanted us to sign it immediately, while she stood there impatiently waiting. We signed it and she grabbed it and left the table, this time no grunt, thank you KMA or anything. We gathered our things and walked out. Here’s the kicker… We were almost to the car when she came barging out of the restaurant quickly and rudely said«Where’s my TIP?» We told her that she did not deserve one based on the lack of what would be considered even remotely decent service. I love Korean food, my husband spent 5 years in Korea and loves Korean food, but I would never go back to this restaurant and never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. Bottomline, there are other Korean Restaurants in close proximity to this place that have far better food and especially service.

Before I came here I was really wanting to try out the all-you-can-eat Korean bbq, but I came with my parents and they probably wouldn’t approve of me stuffing my face with a bunch of meat. Maybe another night with some friends. So instead I had the #2 combo which is galbi and naeng myeon(cold noodles). Yes, I had cold noodles on a cold day. Hey I’m a guy that wears shorts out in the freezing cold. The galbi could have been grilled a little bit longer for the sugars to caramelize, but it was still finger lick’in good. The noodles in the naeng myeon were pretty good, but the cold noodle broth seemed a little salty to me, ehh. The quality and quantity of banchan here was decent. The kimchi was spicy, but was kinda sweet. The spicy radish cubes were the best, in my opinion. The mashed potatoes with bits of hot dog sausage and bit of cucumbers made it taste really refreshing, but very interesting. They had some seasoned eggplant with slices of green peppers, but my mom couldn’t handle the heat. Hehe, I ended up eating the left over peppers. They had a bunch more of banchan that were decent, but not too excellent. * From reading a couple of the other reviews for Blue House, it looks like they didn’t get«good service». It’s Korean culture for their customers to call out to them or push a button on the table(if equipped) When you get their attention they should gladly get you another bowl of rice or refills of banchan without any extra charge. However, these servers should be a bit more attentive when serving non-Korean patrons.

The Blue House restaurant is located at Old Denton and the PGBT in Carrollton, on the southeast corner. As far as Korean food goes, its not bad. For lunch you can get a Bento Box with steak, rice, sushi, 3 kinds of kimchi, and a chili sauce for about $ 8. Included with that are several plates of typical Korean side dishes like egg patty, bean sprouts, even more kimchi, radish, etc. You’ll get entirely full for your money, and not even the kind of «heavy» and«urghhh» you get with being full on Mexican food! The restaurant is arranged in such a way that each table is surrounded by a booth/cubicle wall, which makes lunch pretty intimate. It also makes it difficult to people watch. The Blue House came off, to me, as a kind of Korean version of IHOP. I docked two stars because the staff was not very attentive — they just sat in the corner gabbing most of the time. I had to get up to get their attention. Secondly, they give you sodas in cans instead of fountain style with refills and I hate that. It’s a good place to go for lunch though, if you’re in the area.

It would seem that K-town(Korea Town) is branching beyond from the Harry Hines corridor. The Trinity Mills/Old Denton Road intersection recently added Blue House, a Korean BBQ and Sushi Bar, and it appears a new Korean supermarket is under construction across the highway. In terms of food, Blue House provides your average fare of Korean BBQ, soups & stews, rice & noodle bowls. There’s also a Japanese infusion of teppanyaki BBQ and a variety of sushi. As usual, I order my Korean litmus test of bibimbab(beef with assorted vegetables and a fried egg over rice with spicy sauce) and Soon Tofu(soybean pasted soup with seafood and tofu). The dishes were satisfactory but nothing remarkable. The bon chon(side appetizers) were abundant but not plentiful. We received 7 dishes plus a platter of pajun(Korean style pancake) but no refills. The waitstaff was hardly attentive — something that I’d understand if service was slow as a result of a busy lunch rush but the restaurant was half full. The prices for the lunch specials are a dollar more than Blue House’s Korean counterparts by Harry Hines. A dollar may not seem like much but its a world of difference if you were actually in K-town. I expect that prices will drop once competition starts entering the market. As a last word, what is up with Koreans and their fascination of cubicle-style enclosures? 3 Stars — An unremarkable restaurant but one that will satisfy your stomach without hurting your wallet.
