Had a great breakfast here a week ago. My husband had a ham and cheese omelet and said it was good. I had checked out the menu ahead of time and thought everything about the strawberry and banana pancake sounded great, except that I’m not a big strawberry fan. So I asked if I could order it as just a banana pancake, and she said sure. So I still got the bananas, walnuts, powered sugar, whipped cream, and warm maple syrup on the side. And it was DELICIOUS! It came with«two strips of crisp bacon or sausage patties.» Because I prefer my bacon on the chewy side, I asked if I could get it this way, and also get it on a separate plate. Both of these requests were graciously honored. The only thing I wish was different were the potatoes. I much prefer shredded hash browns, and these are cubed. I tasted one of my husband’s and, while they were seasoned nicely enough, I would have asked for a substitution if they came with my meal(which they didn’t).

They have a wide selection. Because they only have one soup of the day which I did not want, I decided to get the turkey apple croissant with fruit for $ 8.99. I asked for no raisins and apple butter on the side. The turkey amount was great. I also selected my fruit of blueberries, apples, strawberries, pineapples, and cantaloupe. Unfortunately, they don’t have a frequency eaters card.

The restaurant is big with a large patio. They have a lot of egg choices. I got the Greek Frittata open face omelette with ham, artichoke hearts, roasted tomatoes, asparagus, mushrooms with basil pesto and havarti dill cheese cooked in a iron skillet oh so good it comes with a side. Fresh fruit or grits or ranch potatoes they are the best. They also have sandwich and salads. The staff very friendly and knows what there doing.

One of my favorite breakfast spots in the city. You really can’t go wrong with any of the breakfast items and the coffee is always stellar.

I tried to call in an order for pick up an hour and fifteen minutes before they closed and sat on hold forever. I hung up and called back, Clinton informed me that he was waiting on a server to come to the phone and take the order as they were all pretty busy. I never knew writing an order down and taking it to the kitchen required a server but since he informed me of such, I told him we’d go somewhere else. His response,“okay.” I eat here almost every weekend. The best time to go is a 30minutes to an hour before close. Any other time the wait times are long to both sit and get your food.

My family and I have been to the Egg and I every so often, especially after Sunday mass. Usually, it’s a pretty decent place, but after this time I’m not sure if we’ll ever come back. We got there at 6AM to get some breakfast before work, ordered a bit later, and waited for about 40ish min. People that were seated after us got there food before us! Finally, my mother asked one of the waiters how much longer our food would be. Within five minutes, they brought the food out. You’d think that’d be the end of it, oh boy, no. My plate, which was Cinnamon Roll French Toast, was burnt and cold. Not only that, the bacon and eggs were cold too! We wondered if the plates were just sitting there in the back. The only redeeming factors of this place was the good Pumpkin Spice Coffee and how the manager handled the situation when I brought the temperature issue up. She gave us the meal free, which was more than appreciated, and apologized for everything. I understand sometimes that we all have rough mornings, but when dealing with meats and eggs, temperature is something really to take note of because that can make someone sick, which as a broke out of school college grad, I have no time for!

I’m giving The Egg & I 5 stars this time. I had the eggceptional omelette and it was fantastic. The ranch potatoes are some of the best potatoes I personally have ever had. Christine was my server and she did an excellent job. I was in and out in 25 minutes, which is great because I had to go to work. I also appreciate the staff ask if you want coffee to go.

The Texas skillet was great. I have not had steak this tender in a while and the service was great considering this busy they were.

Nothing special about this place the environmental was nice enough. The food was bland and nothing was amazing or a must have. But servers were nice and price was reasonable.

The only reason that I gave it two stars was because the food was pretty good. The service was horrible. We arrived and greeted at the door by someone who I assume was the host and we were promptly seated. Then we waited for at least another 5 minutes to be noticed by our server who was over to our left just chatting it up with another employee and then when she came to the table she said that she was sorry for not getting to us right away but she was chatting about schedules.(I don’t care what you were doing, you could clearly see us sitting at the table and waiting for someone). She asked for our drink orders and brought them quickly, along with a carafe of our order beverages. Although this may be convenient for some, I think it’s a lazy way out. This just gives the servers an excuse to not keep checking on the tables. She asked for our orders and asked if I would like an «Egg McMuffin» with it. I assume she meant english muffin because I wasn’t at McDonalds. While waiting for our food we observed many disturbing things. 1. We watched servers walk around with food in their hands and eating it as if they were at home in their own kitchen/living room. Disgusting. 2. As they were rolling silverware in the middle of the dining room(which I found odd) they were cramming food in their mouths. This is a definite health code violation.(I’ve worked in the food industry for about 10 years now, so I am positive of this violation.) 3. We watched a server clean up her tables and fill things that were empty. Normal right? Not at all. I found the fact that their house hot sauce bottle says it has a shelf life up to 2017, but I watched her take a squirt bottle full of hot sauce and fill the bottle. So who knows how old that hot sauce really is. 4. We also watched many servers sitting down at tables with customers(not very professional if you ask me). The food finally came and it was delicious. But I didn’t get to tell anyone because our server was MIA. At this point, I wasn’t even surprised. After we finished, we sat for about 10 minutes waiting for our bill. The manager came over and asked if we were finished and promptly took our plates away. We waited another 5 minutes for our server to bring our bill. She dropped it off, and we found out where she was… outside smoking. at least that’s what the smell of her clothes told us. The food was really good, but I cannot say I will be back due to the horrible service that we received and witnessed throughout our time here.

Even though it was busy we were seated pretty quickly. They have a pretty large menu so there is something for everyone. My biscuits and gravy came with 2 eggs and choice of a side. I also added ham. It was a huge helping which was great since we were there for brunch so we were starving by the time we got there. Our service was good. Our drinks were kept full. The large OJ ended up being really small I though and it was super sweet so I guess I didn’t need more, but I should have stuck with water. Everyone liked their food. It was a little hard to get out the door with my Aunt’s scooter. The lobby was busy with people paying and waiting to sit down and only one side of the door was open so we had to wait for someone to come unlock it. Well it wasn’t locked, but I couldn’t get it to open, they used some kind of tool. There just wasn’t room to maneuver out easily. Not sure why both doors wouldn’t just be open.

Today my mom and I decided to go to The Egg and I just because we had never been there before and felt like trying something new. The restaurant’s atmosphere is directed more towards families and also has an extra room called«The Meeting Room» so it is also a good place to bring large groups. We were seated quickly and our waitress took our order right away. It took a while for us to get our drinks and order… service was a little slow but not terrible. I got the Arizona turkey sandwich with kettle chips as a side. The sandwich had avocado, tomato, cheese and some other really fresh tasting ingredients and it tasted amazing. My mom got the bacon avocado chicken sandwich with a side of the soup of the day which was wild mushroom soup and she really enjoyed it as well. The portions were a nice size and the breakfasts that we saw being served looked huge. I loved the food that was here and I think the breakfasts would be even better. Also, as a college student it was pretty afordable. Absolutley going back!

My sister and her family were in town so we decided to take them to brunch at The Egg and I, since my family and I had been here before and enjoyed it. We received a warm greeting from the hostess whom informed us that there would be a 15 minute wait. In the meantime, my sister decided to have a cup of coffee from the decanters staged in the entry way due to a notice suggesting patrons enjoy a cup while waiting. Unfortunately, it had run out so they need to maintain it a bit better. Our table became available in approximately 10 minutes, and once we were seated our server arrived shortly thereafter. She was friendly and efficient, taking our drink orders and serving them promptly. The beverages arrived with decanters so we could self refill, which I appreciated. When the meals arrived there was some confusion with a couple of dishes, and one was missing the sausage, however to their credit, the matter was resolved quickly. I ordered the Athena Scramble, which was comprised of scrambled eggs, asparagus, mushrooms, tomatoes, and feta cheese. It was accompanied by potatoes and toast. I definitely enjoyed this dish; the asparagus was tender and the feta added a much appreciated burst of flavor. My one issue was that there was a considerable amount of juice at the bottom of the plate, which made the portion of eggs that came in contact with it a bit soggy. Overall, I had a nice experience and enjoyed the food and the service. I gave four stars instead of five due to the excess juice at the bottom of my dish, and the initial confusion with the meals. However, this was a minor issue and I plan to visit The Egg and I again.

I love breakfast, and as such, I want to love this restaurant, but they’re not doing anything to help me. I’ve visited twice — weekday and weekend. Both times, the restaurant was not busy when we arrived but bustling by our departure. First visit: weekday morning, almost empty restaurant, business breakfast. Multiple servers observed. Waited 8 minutes to be greeted and asked for drink order. Eight minutes. When there were more servers than customers visible. From a service perspective, things did not improve. And this is my main problem here. The coffee was good(and I am a coffee snob). The eggs were eggs, as opposed to powdered something from a box. The bacon was crisp. In summary, the food was fine(not great, not stellar, but fine) but the service was slow. Second visit: Sunday late morning with my children(teenagers). There was no wait to be seated. We waited 10 minutes before catching the attention of a server who was not OUR server, but who did send a server our way. We ordered drinks and food at that time. We had to send back the sides of bacon, as they were not cooked. The waitress made sure the bacon was cooked correctly, and then we never saw her again. My 14 year old said«Mom, I can poach you an egg and make hollandaise sauce at home.» My 16 year old son said«Mom, next time can you get a personal recommendation before taking us somewhere new?» When we went to pay, the manager asked about our experience and I was honest(cold food, slow service, recooked items) and she took 20% off our bill, which I truly appreciated. But, after two not great experiences, we likely won’t try a third time.

I have to agree with my husband on this but I more on the higher side of 3.5 stars. I am leaning more on the high end because I was pleasantly surprised by my meal. I tend to be leery of breakfast joints of that nature because the service is usually average as well as the food and then the price is ridiculous for the quality. So I didn’t have high hopes unfortunately. BUT my meal was incredible. I ordered ordered the Huevos Rancheros and was very pleased, it was superb. Loved the pork green chili and the side potatoes. But the service was slow and inattentive. I prefer to base most of my reviews on food alone but I couldn’t here, if they step the professionalism of the waitstaff I would be happy to try more menu item but otherwise it was just A-OK.

We don’t normally go out for breakfast because we are either sleeping or making our own — we make a mean breakfast sandwich. Egg & I was great on the food side but lacked a little in the staff department. Pros: — Food was very good — Tons of options — Seated quickly even though it was busy — Clean — Priced fairly Cons: — Waiter just went through the motions(it was busy but she didn’t make us feel welcome) — Food a little slow coming out — Staff huddled around cash register on cell phones when trying to pay I had the Mexican Skillet with eggs over easy and it was excellent. But, it was a ton of food so beware. I washed it down with the mocha iced coffee which was good but maybe not $ 2.99 good. The food was great but the staff could have stepped their game up. I wasn’t mad because of reasons derived from being busy, it was just lack of dedication to making each customers experience special. Tighten up the staff and we’ll be back for more of that pork green chili sauce!

Great brunch spot that I found over the weekend! Came here with family and ordered the Wisconsin Scramble — three eggs scrambled with 4 different cheeses — heaven! It came with a bed of ranch potatoes and wheat toast. Delish! I also have a theory — coffee just tastes better when you drink it out of a classic white café cup, so of course I enjoyed it. I also liked how they kept the coffee carafe there so that we could do our own refills, same with soda. The service leaves a bit to be desired though. The hostess was thisclose to giving a peep show with the dress she was wearing which I thought was very odd since it’s kind of a family place. And, our waitress was very rough with setting things down on the table and grabbing our menus and almost knocking our waters over without apologizing. I know they were busy, but a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Other than that, the food was delicious and I’ll be back just for that. Hope they work on their service :)

Decided to check this place out since we were on this side of town. The restaurant is pretty big with great windows that wrapped around the building bringing in the wonderful outside lighting. It was a nice open space! Joanne our server was very friendly and helpful going over their items that we had questions about. She was quite patient with my friend who had many questions. It was our first time here. I ordered the New Orleans Benedict’s but substituted the tomato gravy for the sausage gravy. All the elements were good. The poached eggs were done a little on the extra runny side, although I love my eggs runny, these probably could’ve gone for another 30 seconds. The biscuits were good, however one was a bit hard. Cubed potatoes were ok. I’m not big on potatoes cooked that way. Overall, it was a decent meal, probably not one of my favorite. My friend ordered the stuff friend toast with chicken. To me it was more like a French toast sandwich. Chicken, egg and cheese sandwiched between 2 French toast. Nothing more to it. He also ordered a side of corn beef and stated that there was too much potatoes and not enough corn beef. Although I wasn’t completely satisfied with the meal, I would definitely return to give it another try. Service was great enough to make my experience enjoyable!

I’ve made it my personal mission to visit every northside establishment that serves pancakes. Today was the day for the egg and I. I arrived at 830 on a Saturday morning. The place is pretty large and there was No wait to be seated. My wife and I even had a large booth to ourselves. Our waitress was very nice and did a more than satisfactory job, but nothing amazing. Coffee cups were full(mostly because they leave you a carafe of coffee) and she did visit during our meal once to make sure we were ok. The food left me feeling the same way. It was good, but nothing to brag about. In our comparison of all northside breakfast locations, I order pancakes and my wife orders a Benedict. The raspberry granola pancakes were good, but the hollandaise left us thinking it was from a mix/package. The highlight of the meal were the eggs and syrup. The syrup, even sugar free, comes in a heated container. When I order poached eggs it is always a good sign when they ask me how I’d like then. My eggs were a perfect medium poach, as were my wife’s. Overall, I’d come back without question, but it falls somewhere in the middle ground of available options in the area.
