Would love to give 5stars. Food is phenomenal and worth every penny. Service is hit or miss.

Let me just start off by saying that I should know better than to order a steak at a seafood restaurant. My fault. The red wine reduction was phenomenal. Really. The steak, well… not so much. A strip steak cooked to medium should have been super tender and while this was flavorful, it just wasn’t prime steak tender. My husband’s snapper with green pea and parmesan risotto was sublime. I just wish the fish itself had a sauce as snapper lends itself well to sauces. We shared a crispy pork belly and arugula salad which was wonderful. The dressing was just enough. Not too heavy. Perfect. As is the restaurant itself. Design and décor are somehow comforting and quiet. Our sever was attentive without being overbearing. I’m not a big dessert person but my husband is so when our server recommended the house made ice cream, we just had to. Please, I don’t even eat sweets but I found myself spoon fighting for the chocolate and the burnt honey. This stuff is unlike any, and I mean any, ice cream you’ve ever had. Dense and not really too sweet like most. If you go… and you should… order the blood orange cosmopolitan(but with Grey Goose) and the ice cream! Enjoy!

Great breakfast. The breakfasts were great; the dinners incredible. Everyone ordered something different and all were wowed. The Ahi in Thai curry was spectacular, and everyone loved their desserts. Next time I try the honey ice cream!

Had the Chef’s tasting menu with their wine pairing & it was one of the best meals I have ever had. A lot more food than my wife & I could finish, but it was great to try an array of delicious dishes paired with various wine offerings. Attentive staff, wonderful environment & well worth the money. As a matter of fact, I would have paid more for the dining experience we had.

Very overpriced, limited menu suggestions, and below average service, Six dinners ordered and 3 of the six were not served at the same time. If vacationing in Cape May NJ try someplace else.

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining here with our three kids, ages 15, 13, and 9, on our recent and first visit to Cape May. We asked to see the tasting menu just out of curiosity, as it was stated on the main menu that the entire party should partake if this was ordered(usual for a tasting menu), and we knew our younger two, at least, wouldn’t be up for that. Our waitress, however, saw our interest, and soon a manager(at least I believe to be a manager) was at our table explaining that if we wanted, we could in fact order that, and how it could be worked out with the kids’ meals(timing-wise). Long story short, 15 year old, husband, and I got the 5 course tasting menu, while our younger two got their choice of a regular meal plus dessert. We were all super happy with the food as well as with the service. I loved that our oldest tried everything, and he liked, or loved, most of it. We shared some tastes with the younger two when they had interest, as well. I loved the variety and care taken with the plating, and the food was delicious! It was a great experience for all. Dessert was awesome(between us all we had a lot of what is on the dessert menu; you can’t go wrong!) Tip for a growing teen(or really any person of any age); BBQ chicken was a big hit. He really liked most everything, except for the pureed cauliflower(I loved that, so none was wasted!) Apps and salads; awesome. Seafood; same. Red meats good as well. Attitude and attention from staff, fabulous, and is worth going there, regardless of what you order. Ambiance and view, wonderful. Thank you for a great experience, and for so graciously offering to accommodate us so we could experience the chef’s tasting menu and share it with our oldest, who likes telling people about this; he really enjoyed it, too. Edit to add: The tasting menu takes a while, as it is a lot of food. We were there for over two hours. Moves along nicely, we didn’t feel any lag-time at all and enjoyed our time there, but if you have young kids and/or fussy eaters please keep this in mind. Also, we went at a slower time which is perhaps why this was made available to us(tasting menu for partial table.) But if you can work it out, I’d highly recommend it!

I had an amazing«sea salt» omelet, fresh fruit(best I’ve had in years), and applewood bacon. The ambience was perfect and the wait staff extremely attentive. Will definitely return!

Throw this one back… Ambiance/Décor ***** Beautiful design with deep blue walls, wood floors and dark wood tables. Very dark and intimate feeling along the back banquette, other tables are a little close together and it is brighter near the windows. Outside deck for dining and inside there is a separate glass enclosed 14 person party room with a chandelier hanging above. Service ** This is were it gets a little strange. We called earlier in the day and made a reservation for an outdoor table for 8 at 6:00. We received a call at 5:00 saying they could only fit us inside due to earlier reservations. We sat in the aforementioned banquet which was very nice but what disturbed us was that there were plenty of empty outdoor tables all night. Initially our server was a bit of a pretentious jerk since we had kids and switched seats a few times but he settled down. There was a woman who I guess was the manager floating around the whole time who was very nice. We had some issues with the kids food, the kids issues not the restaurants, that the restaurant handled well. One kid didn’t like his grilled cheese which we exchanged for pasta with butter while the other kid put cheese on her pasta with butter and didn’t like it so we exchanged that for another pasta with butter. More on this later. Food ** This was a huge disappointment! Calamari appetizer was overly salty, Shrimp Tempura were soggy. I ordered the Red Snapper which oddly came with a Green Pea Risotto. The Risotto was revolting, whoever thought up that combo should be fired on the spot. The fish was completely overcooked and utterly tasteless as was the Whole Grilled Branzino that my table mates ordered. It was all edible but that was about it. Value * Appetizers are around $ 15 and entrees $ 30 which is normal but the killer was the kids pasta was $ 12!!! To make matters worse they charged us for the items the kids didn’t like and we returned. I probably wouldn’t care as much if it wasn’t $ 12 for a kids pasta which was more than the $ 9 grilled cheese. Overall ** They have either forgotten they are in family friendly Cape May or they don’t want kids in their restaurant. Food was not good but with a new chef they can improve that, the beautiful design saves this from 1 Star

Walked in with a recommendation from a local. Food was fantastic with a flare of Thai seasoning and preparation. Service was perfect. Our waiter was very helpful and a student of the culinary arts. He gave great advice and explained the preparations of the different meals. I had bbq chicken and the crab/corn soup. Both were excellent. We will return again.

Let me start by saying I have never in my life sent back a meal. I’m the«suck it up. you ordered it, you eat it» type. But I couldn’t even get through this meal. I was really excited when I saw the Squid Ink Linguine Fra Diavlo on the menu & immediately went for it. They brought it out(after quite a long wait) & it looked awesome! I took my first bite & tried to overlook the disappointment by the horribly bland sauce & suuuuper overcooked noodles. When I think fra diavlo, at the very least I expect a little heat or spice. This had no flavor whatsoever. My partner was unhappy with her meal as well. We didn’t complain or send back our food, but we probably should have, as we saw other patrons getting up & leaving. I’m really hoping maybe it was just a really off night for them, but for the price of the bill & quality of the food… I really wouldn’t recommend risking it. You’ll get a MUCH better meal at a casual spot like Cabanas Beach Bar.

Had dinner here last night. Crab soup was so delicious. Entrees were really good. I had the scallops and my sister had the Snapper. But the desserts were out of this world. The banana spring rolls were excellent but the chocolate lava cake with raspberry chili pepper sorbet was to die for. Waiter was very attentive and we had a great time.

We had our wedding at the Sea Salt /Ocean Club Hotel in June 2014 and just went back for our 1 year anniversary. It was wonderful! Nearly all the staff remembered us and treated us like royalty. The bartenders even remembered how to make our signature cocktail we had at the wedding a year ago. Everyone is always so accommodating and helpful. We spent our one year anniversary at dinner at Sea Salt where Chef Lou never disappoints! Plus, the service was fast, friendly and informed. We had a new addition to the summer menu to start — a watermelon and scallop sashimi dish — it was perfectly light, tasty and refreshing! The rest of the meal was amazing as usual. The pork chops appetizer is so delicious! The scallops and halibut entrees were great. And the new dessert — banana spring rolls with burnt honey ice cream was perfect. The breakfast was also great. And hanging by the pool with some cocktails and light pool fare is one our our favorite things to do. We plan to go back to Sea Salt and The Ocean Club Hotel for the rest of our lives. It holds a special place in our hearts and every time we go it feels a bit like home with a splash of luxury!

We walked in sweaty, wearing hoodies and tennis shoes, feeling extremely underdressed. Perhaps we were, but it’s attached to a hotel so many others piled in with similar casual gear. It’s a beachy vibe with a classy twist and they take credit which is rare with the restaurants on the beach. The coffee was dark, not my favorite house blend, but the food was good! And reasonably priced. I went with the salmon bagel and it hit this Jewish girl’s heart. Not a bad spot for some good morning grub!

This place really shocked me. Their menu looked and sounded amazing but the food was bland and unsatisfying. Like other reviewers, it was clear that this place was trying to be above the rest and appear bigger and better than it really is. My partner and I came here to see if it should be the location for our wedding reception. HELLNO. I’m so horribly disappointed because there aren’t any high end places in Cape May and I thought it was the place. We paid $ 115 for a meal and that was enjoyed only by the booze we washed it down with. My partner ordered their«signature dish» of Fra Diavlo with squid ink pasta. It was terrible. Usually a Fra Diavlo sauce is spicy and full of flavors of garlic and capers. This tasted like bland canned tomatoes and nothing else. I make better sauce at home that comes out of a jar. At least I throw some red pepper flakes and garlic in their to give it some life! We planned on talking to the manager to talk about booking a space for our after ceremony meal but ended up paying our check and leaving feeling disappointed. I feel like a chump for not speaking up as we signed our checks because we heard another couple complaining about their meals at the same time. They turned their food away and got the bill covered by the manager. This place is not good. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Seriously a waste of money and a cute outfit.

The food is good, but is overpriced and very small portions. My family ended up here sort of randomly and we didn’t quite realize how expensive things were until we had sat down. I ordered the scallops which were $ 28, which is kind if a standard price for seafood. My issue is that there was no side or anything with it…6 scallops on top of a smear of puréed cauliflower. Also, for a restaurant on the beach, they don’t offer local seafood selections. Mediterranean Sea bass, but nothing from the shore? We spent $ 150 for 4 people and no one walked away satisfied. Nice view of the beach. Service was pretty good, but we had to wait a really long time to get someone’s attention when we were ready to get the check. If you’re looking for a classy dinner, this might be your best bet. If you’re looking for a satisfying one, move on.

We ate breakfast here twice and loved it. The waitresses are so sweet and we formed good relationships with them. The outside patio seating is lovely. I had the pancakes both times and they were very good. We also stayed at the Ocean Club. We can’t wait to return!
