Would not recommend — steak was tough and fatty. Over priced for what you get. Appetizers are ok. With all of the other local choices, I would not come back here.

So so so upset ! This was my favorite place in cape may for yearsss especially in the past 5 years, however now I am just sooo disappointed!!! I went there about a month ago and had a Meal that I always had and was not happy! Completely changed and with NO flavor at all! Then I went back 2 weeks later and my favorite appetizer(ahi tuna) taken off the menu and replaced by other apps like the«Cuban sliders» BLANDANDNOTHING to what a Cuban should taste like !!! I gave it ONE more chance, and got grilled salmon, which I have gotten so many times before … It was completely different !! The salmon was bland bland bland !!! The Cous Cous was cold with no flavor I have no choice but to send it back and just get a salad! I heard word around town there’s new management, well of this is true then the new management is messing up big time !!! DONTFIXWHATITNOTBROKEN !! A place that I loved coming to I will no longer visit and that is not only my feeling i have about 10 friends who feel the same now, such a shame !!!

Food was good. Service needed some work. Waitress kind, but needs training. Atmosphere was nice. Not crowded. Don’t rush here, but if staying in the hotel, it’s a good option on a rainy night.

Ok 1st off if you haven’t been to Cape May Nj you must come. like a dream. We are staying at the Grand Hotel, so nice. Off-season midweek expedia 80 a night. Anyway the hotel restaurant is Hemingways, wed 19 – 21 $ prime rib, the best melt in your mouth I’ve ever had. Jody had the flounder with lemon which was so so garlic mash and roasted veggies. Had the lobster Mac and cheese, real good but doesn’t compare to Valentes perfect storm which is a 10 this was a 9. Jody had clam chowda very delicious. Very good service. Tomorrow we try the blue pig!

My wife and I ate here for the breakfast buffet on our anniversary weekend. Overall I felt that it was a good meal and I can’t recall anything I didn’t like. Service was quick and we were seated right away. I would recommend getting there early because by 930 it was packed. I did feel that the coffee left a lot to be desired.

Food was very good but for pricing expected it to be great. Some items were lackluster others very good. Thai curry shrimp was excellent, crab cake sandwich only so-so. Staff seemed to be confused. At lunch there was no draft beer available, three hours later, at dinner, six different beers were available. Confusing!

Came here for breakfast buffet. Just barely yoke tolerable food. Citrus juice in a jug had gone bad to the point where it was bubbling. Indifferent hostess and one nice but distracted waitress for the whole dining room.

Wow, what a GREATSURPRISE!!! Stopped in by chance and was met by a very nice hostess. Offered several options for seating and apologized since a large family group was arriving(something like 28 people). Server was fast and offered several drink options. Placed drinks and menu was not to complicated. Had broiled combo seafood and she had the scallops. Large portions to the point she could not finish hers, love that. Wedge salad was a meal itself. Overall GRAND experience Came back to bar latter that evening and for desert had a piece of cheese cake… that could have been the entire dinner WILLBEBACK!!!

Have been going here for years, however our last experience was very disappointing. We were there the weekend 6÷21÷15. All the help were new people, new management AWFUL. The young girl at the desk was very rude not friendly at all. The young african girl was very nice and friendly. Waitress seemed very stressed food took a long time to arrive and was no where as good as it use to be. Needless to say we will not be going there again.

This place is VERY underrated! My husband and I enjoyed cocktails and apps there and were pleasantly surprised with how tasty and low priced it all was! Would highly recommend the onion soup!

Were seated by the window in a dining room which was perhaps 1⁄3 full with several wait folk working. You’d think that service would be good, right? Wrong. Waitress introduced herself, then went away for 15 minutes before she took our drink orders. Ordered two simple martinis. Waited another 15 minutes before they showed up. There was ice on the side, probably to make up for the fact that they’d been sitting on the bar warming up for who knows how long. They seemed watered down, perhaps because they’d been re-shaken over ice to attempt to salvage them. We figured we’d better order before she got away. Sent back the alleged«Crispy Shrimp & Scallop Tempura — sweet chili sauce, crispy cabbage slaw» as the batter looked like beer batter, not tempura, and neither the sweet chili sauce nor the cabbage slaw was in evidence. I guess they hired the fry cook from Neptune’s Seafood Hut or some such. The boiled day-boat scallops had no color on them; more like baked a little, with a couple of nondescript sides. We would have ordered dessert, after an hour and a half to get through to the end of the entrée, mostly time spent waiting, I just couldn’t deal with another round of waiting for the waitress to move along. Asked for the check, and actually got it after 15 more minutes of waiting and asking the hostess to ask the waitress to get her proverbial in gear. Okay, it was early in the season, but there’s no excuse to hire up for the season and to fail to train your staff.

My friend and I had dinner & breakfast here as part of the meal deal that we got for staying at the Grand Hotel. It was suggested that we make dinner reservations as the hotel is very busy the weekend we were there. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation we were promptly sat and our drink orders were taken immediately. For dinner I had a house salad and the stuffed flounder and a glass of the house Pinot Grigio. My friend ordered the fillet mignon and the soup of the day along with a ice tea. Both meals came with steamed vegetables and your choice of mashed or baked potato. The food was fabulous the flounder was delicious and the stuffing was fresh filled with shrimp, scallops and jumbo lump crab meat and my friends filllet was to die for. We finished off our meal with crème brûlée and a piece of New York style cheesecake. Both were excellent! We return the next morning for the breakfast buffet. It includes everything from eggs Benedict, waffles made to order, bacon, sausage fresh pastries and fruit. Plus a ton of other things that I can’t remember! If I am ever in Cape May again I will return to dine here again!!!

Came back a year later expecting a fantastic meal. Horribly disappointed. Started with Calamari, which was pretty good. Last year the bread was out of this world. Nothing special this year. Had filet which was over cooked and tiny. Presentation was horrible. Small piece of steak on a tiny dish. It came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Also very bland. My sons kids filet was larger than mine and half the price. Very over priced for what you get. What happened to this restaurant?

We made reservations 1 wk ago for the Land & Sea Buffet which we have enjoyed every summer when we vacation here. Today we called to confirm as the website now advertises a Lobster Dinner on Thurs. This changed within the lady few days. We were told they no longer offer the buffet. Glad we called… and cancelled since price went up to $ 28.95 for a lobster dinner, no Dungeness crab. The end of an era.

Food was very good, I had a steak, and my wife had the flounder. Excellent service, didn’t feel rushed at all, I thought the price was right, not too expensive, I will go there again.

Go for the view and atmosphere, expect the service will be terrible and food just okay. It could have been the night we picked to go, but the servers were overwhelmed and not all that helpful or focused on getting orders quickly. The calamari, crab cakes and flounder were decent, but not for the cost, bad service and very noisy bar that accompanied them.

My family and I went out to dinner here. It never fails the food is cooking beautifully. My husband was a bit disappointed that his filet was bit over cooked but the Gorgonzola cheese sauce was a but hit. The French onion soup was the best I have had in a long time. Definitely a place to eat when in cape may.

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel for the special«Wine Weekend». The event was the first time they had it and there were some improvements they could make to make it great. Overall, it was a very good time and a nice value. The included wine themed dinner was excellent. We ate at Hemingway’s for lunch and it was the best French onion soup I’ve ever had. A dinner there of Diver Scallops — Excellent! I’m pretty sure the scallops were fresh off of the Cape May docks that day. The only part of the restaurant that we found to be subpar was the breakfast buffet. It was tired and dull so we skipped it Sunday and went to our favorite breakfast spot — George’s. Mostly friendly people working there in the restaurant and hotel as well. We’d go back in a heartbeat!
