Found this little gem by accident. And thank gosh we did! This is a super small place that can’t be missed by all the COLOR on the outside. The motif is fun and tropical. I have never been inside(which is where you order the food) but I hear it is small, hot and very little seating. Outback they have 6 or 7 picnic tables for dining.(Which is always where I am while someone orders the food) It’s a neat place. The food is incredible and they give you a ton! The menu is decent sized for the size of the place in general. This is non-alcoholic. Within walking distance of all the goodness of Cape May.

They are total dicks here. We came in at 7:59, they said they were closed. The hours said they were open until 9. They said not anymore and that they closed at 8pm. I said«it is 8pm» to which they replied in a really rude tone«uhh… Yeah…» Don’t go here. Go next door to geckos where they treat you well and have great food.

Best Vegetarian Taco I have ever had in States… Platter is good enough for a good meal. The food is served in no time… Excellent place to have a brunch with your gang

Rolled off Sunset Beach and walked into this great little joint still damp and bare foot. Plenty of food for the dollars, very tasty and fresh. We really enjoyed it. Terrific atmosphere. We ate on the picnic tables outside, enjoying Buffett on the speakers.

This was our 3rd time eating at Key West Tacos. The food did not disappoint. The pulled pork taco was delicious! We also has the fish(which was grouper)…excellent! Very nicely seasoned! The crab was just ok(found a shell, which was disappointing). The taco platters are very filling, served with rice and beans. The tacos come with tortillas. We also had the guacamole, which was very creamy. There is a lack of seating space, and the staff could be friendlier. The Jimmy Buffett music playing made up for their unpleasantness.

Was dying for a Mexican meal and margarita on our last night in Cape May — everything was PERFECT minus the margarita. I believe this place is BYOB though… so if you want a margarita to go with your meal, bring your own. My girlfriend and I ordered the same thing — shrimp burritos, and shared guac and chips. SOOOO filling — burrito had small shrimps with beans, rice and some type of cloeslaw with Cajun seasoning on the outside… the Cajun seasoning was a bit spicy but it was good! Guac was so-so. The burrito alone was enough, since it came with chips and pico de gallo! Service was, ok nothing to rave about. We sat inside because it was way too hot outside for us to enjoy our meal. The couple next to us had tacos, and they kept saying how good they were! Will be back based on the burrito alone!

Got a steak Burrito with no steak and one side and a few pieces on the other. Platters were expensive for what was offered and the drink selection was largely under stocked. Overall the meal was passable but there are much better options in Cape May for the price, just walk a little further.

Perhaps the worst food in Cape May. Tried a chicken quesadilla, beef taco, and chicken taco. All of the chicken is a frozen, pre-seasoned chicken that you can get at grocery store. To have so few proteins and make one of them from a frozen bag is utterly shameful.

Water for dogs, not for people: Recently visited key west taco with my mother. We have been here before and were surprised when, after we had spent $ 30 on food, the server not only told us they ran out of bottled water, but refused to give us water from the tap. As we walked outside, we saw that there was a dog bowl filled with water. Despite this, food was delicious, but we were quite insulted.

I stayed across the street from this place and it has a great little vibe from the outside so had to try it. I had the Pork taco platter and my girlfriend got the mahi mahi taco. The platter included two tacos, chips, and rice. The chips were blah to me and just pulled out of a bag. From the look of the place, I thought they may be making their own, but I’m fairly confident that is not the case. The pork tacos were decent. Not the best I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst. There was two large tacos that hit the spot very nicely for lunch. Pork was tender and juicy. I prefer some big bold spices in my food so I expected a little more punch, but they were good. My one real criticism with the tacos is that they use two flour tortilla shells. I understand they want to give you a nice portion size in it, but I would prefer one shell loaded with a good amount as the flour shells(just from my experience) hold up better than the corn tortilla shells, which I see using two quite often. The mahi mahi taco receives a similar review as above. The fish was cooked spot on at a medium rare and was tasty. If I had to choose between the two, I’d get the mahi mahi again. The rice was also just average. Wasn’t necessary for me and just seemed a little out of place without a refried bean or black bean of choice to accompany it. I scooped it on some of the chips just to do something with it.

Key West Tacos has a nice vibe to it. Relaxing is the order of the day when you are on vacation and an eclectic décor, casual amosphere, seafood on the menu, and Jimmy Buffet on the radio is just what the doctor ordered. The location has no parking and limited street parking in a crowded section of town. It says no parking behind the restaurant in the alley although many folks(including this guy) park there. There are 4 picnic tables outside — which are highly prized — and another four cramped tables inside. We ordered a shrimp taco and a fish taco. We received our orders pretty quickly. Be aware this location is CASH only! The food was good enough and I felt the prices were reasonable for the beach. However, I think I have been spoiled by the street taco stands in Texas and Southern CA. I agree with another Unilocalers assessment that everything in this shop is store bought — the taco shells were average, the slaw was crispy but bland, the Pico tasted like it was out of a jar. If you are driving by Key West Tacos on a nice day and are able to score a picnic table the definitely stop by and enjoy a solid taco while listening to some Buffet — especially if your frame of reference for good tacos is Taco Bell. This joint is not worth going out of your way for though.

Delicious and fast! I love eating at this place but take out is awesome too! A little pricey but the quality is exceptional. Very limited outside eating but if you are fortunate enough to grab a seat outdoors it’s fun! Lots of great hot sauces to try. Remember it is cash only!

Don’t bother. They don’t follow posted hours of business. We went there 3 times, the lat time there were cleaning up and were closed over an hour before the sign on the door said they did.

Definitely a place to avoid. I would give it no stars if I could. We’ve said multiple times«we should try it» as we’ve passed by on our visits to Cape May. We love tacos. But we love good tacos. Today we tried it, were hugely disappointed and will not return. When ordering tacos, you get a selection of a single taco or platter. Platter comes with rice, which is dry, and corn chips, from a bag or box, not even proper tortilla chips. They are like movie theater nacho chips. Single taco said it comes with just one taco, so I ordered 2 different kinds bc I didn’t want corn chips and rice. Single taco actually comes with corn chips all of which I threw away bc 1) they were almost not edible and 2) I didn’t want them. All tacos come on a double flour tortilla that are so cheap they get stuck on your teeth. All tacos have shredded cheese and cabbage, nothing seems freshly prepared. And it all lacks flavor, you need the wide array of hot sauces for a reason! They do come outside to let you know your food is ready, but they do not deliver it to your table. The prices are through the roof, especially for bad food. We will not be back.

This is one of those places we always drive by and say, «we should try that place some time.» That time was yesterday(Memorial Day weekend ’15). To sum it up: we will continue driving by. They should call themselves, «Sysco Tacos». I don’t think anything is made fresh. Everything tastes like it came out of a package — including the cabbage they put on your tacos. Cash only. Even though they walk outside to tell you your food is ready, you have to walk back in a get it. Bunch of random, mostly empty, gross looking hot sauces at all of the tables. Prices are crazy. The trashcans right next to the one picnic table is a nice touch; especially when they empty it as my family and I just started our meal. With so many great places in Cape May, this place is a definite pass. Do not waste your time or money.

Food ordered – 1 nachos 1 shrimp taco — chips Shrimp quesadilla — with tortilla chips, salsa, guac Veggie taco and platter — came with three tacos, rice and tortilla chips Lemonade Tea Number of people — 4 Total price — $ 50.00 Food was excellent, we didn’t waste any food and did justice to the place! The owner was so nice and cheerful, the place was cozy and def had a great ambience! Perfect place to relax and enjoy the weather and food! Not the most ideal for big groups, but perfect for small groups — maybe under 5 people

No tap water? No bathrooms? No chips with your side of guac? You can’t feed people and not offer them a toilet. This is like not offering utensils or a napkin. It is similarly wrong to offer a dip without chips. I dont get it. The beef and fish tacos are gross but the pulled pork is all right. Note: i just found this review draft written from July 2013 but didn’t post it until April 2015.

FAIL. Over priced and just bad. Baaaaaaad! Almost $ 40 for 4 tacos? Adding on a drink jumps your bill way way up! We didn’t even finish our food. The Pico de gallo should be ashamed of itself. More like someone threw tomatoes& onions in a bowl. They also pack the taco with CABBAGE!!! Wtf. The chicken was rubber. Not cooked fresh. How sad is that! You have to listen for your name to bring your food to the table, for that price I would think someone could bring it out? I would never go back. Ever. The food was just HORRIBLE. (Cute place though)
