Delicious southwestern food. Tried the shrimp enchiladas and the cheese was too rich for my liking, but tolerable. Loved being able to sit outdoors too.

We LOVE the new location in West Cape May!!! The outdoor patio is so very nice for a casual meal. The menu is the perfect size and for this place and the selections and daily specials are wonderful. We have been here three times in the past few weeks and each time was a 5 star casual experience. The outdoor picnic tables are in a quaint garden setting and there is plenty of indoor seating for inclement weather. Gluten free, vegetarian are all options here! The owners are very friendly and accommodating. And they will stay open year round at the new location!!! Yay:):)

We heard about Gecko’s in a random conversation and decided to try it. We ended up loving it! I had the Red Beans and Rice. It came with big pieces of Andouille sausage, a ham hock, and more heat than I expected, which was fine with me. I also got some of the house Habanero salsa which was sweet and hot. Awesome. My daughter, the vegetarian, had the Hummus platter which came with traditional and black bean hummus, both of which she thought were yummy. My wife had the Shrimp and Chorizo Quesadillas which she thought were fresh but a little bland. Had to fight her for the salsa :) Overall the food was a winner. I was especially happy since I like a lot of heat. The atmosphere was very casual. You place your order up front, find a table and wait for them to bring your meal. We sat indoors, but there’s also an outdoor patio. They had some Reggae playing on Pandora. It was a nice hang. If you’re looking for fast and casual we definitely recommend Gecko’s.

We’ve been here a number of times in the past but they recently moved and changed the menu. It’s still very good but just offers a different selection. The outdoor garden seating was simple but very pleasant and attractive for an afternoon lunch. I had the Cuban sandwich which was absolutely amaizing. The pork was cooked to perfection. My dad tried a bite and said it was the best Cuban he’s ever had. I also had a piece of my sister’s shrimp quesadilla and it was very good. Even though Gecko’s is different than we were used to, it’s still very good and we will definitely return.

Since they have relocated from Carpenters Square to their new location at Perry street, not just the location changed… the menu is 1⁄10th what it used to be. Not only that, but when we asked where the pork posole or new mexico burrito was, we were told they were«getting away from southwestern». My comment was«Why?!». Another of our favorite places gone. They should have changed the name, because that is the only thing that is the same.

If there was an option for 1 star, this restaurant would win it. Owner was insanely rude, we were not allowed to bring an outside drink in(A bottled water) so they lost our business. DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEORMONEYHERE. Hope this place goes out of business soon so others don’t have to experience the embarrassment we just went though.

No wonder smaller places has the yummiest food. We were in town for just two days & solely based on reviews went to eat here. But O M G !!! The food, service & the server everything was just perfect. No drinks though, it BYOB. If a vegetarian, do try their three sister quesadilla! Their shrimp were delicious as well. Its must go to have fine Mexican cuisine. Will definitely see you again :)

Perfect spot for lunch. Very fresh, flavorful Mexican food. And healthy! My wife and kids loved it too, including the shaded outdoor area to sit. Friendly thoughtful service too. We’ll be back!

Had a late dinner — arrived 10 minutes before closing, but the staff was still friendly and totally amenable to serving us. We had the Three Sisters Quesadilla, which was hearty and excellent, and the chicken sandwich, which was spicy and fresh. Ordered their soup of the day, corn chowder, which was pretty disappointing. Wasn’t what we were expecting at all — it was a green soup — and it was filled with lots of stems from poorly prepped veggies. Wish I had asked for a sample before purchasing. All-in-all, a great little place — friendly, comfortable and a nice change from the overabundance of overpriced fancy restaurants, seafood joints and Italian places in Cape May.

Prices were reasonable, not too impressed. It is BYOB, so that is always a plus! Good for small groups. My group filled 2 tables and some of felt like we were too loud for the atmosphere of this place.

This place was nothing special. Went with a group of 10 people this past weekend. The server wasn’t overly friendly and she kept putting off taking our order. We told her we all wanted separate checks to make it easier on her(most of us only had credit cards) but she told us she couldn’t put them in separately otherwise the food would all come out at different times. Ok, if the place was busy, I could maybe see that. But it wasn’t busy at all… really how hard would it have been to tell the cooks to keep the tickets together? Whatever, we were trying to make it easier on her. So at the end she had to figure out what everyone had and put our payment methods towards that. It didn’t affect me either way, but was more difficult for the server in the end(which is what we were trying to avoid). Another thing that bugged me regarding service is she never asked us if we wanted anything to drink. There were waters on the table when we sat, but she never once asked if we wanted something else. One of my friends actually straight up asked her«So do you guys have any drinks or is it assumed we just all want water?» Anyway, food was alright. After we left, a few people in our group were asking each other what we thought of it and the consensus was that it was probably average or slightly below. Nothing horrible, but nothing great.

Started off with black bean cake and Chipotle shrimp appetizer and salsa. Salsa was very bland, missing salt and jalapeños. Both were good. Dinner we ordered, pork potole, burrito, Ali tuna special and mussels. Only entrée that I would recommend is the mussels. Similar to alot of the entrees, missing a lot of flavor and spices. If all of my meals this week in Cape and wildwood, this one is the only one that disappointed.

Not good :( Started with bean corn patties. They were ok. Mussels were ok– not too flavorful. Pork posole was very bland as well. The acorn squash with chili was very disappointing. Should have been cooked longer– the squash was hard and he chili was gross. I couldn’t eat it. We didn’t complain, just ate what we could and left. Very disappointing. The service was ok. Didn’t check on UA much and didn’t refill our drinks promptly but was pleasant.

I love this place. Been here multiple times since my first visit to Cape May in 2000(was a much pickier eater then, but am glad my tastes have since changed!) Went here for an early lunch the day after Memorial Day. Service was fast and friendly, and our server was very knowledgable about the menu items. I went with the huevos rancheros — best decision I ever made. Asked our server about the difference between the red and green chile sauces(smoky and spicy, respectively) and decided to add both to the dish. It was full of good flavor and the perfect amount of heat. I would say the guacamole and chips were a little pricey for the amount we got(plus the chips seemed to be a bit stale), but it was a great appetizer to start our meal. Overall, great place for lunch or dinner. The patio is a really nice place to sit.

A bit of New Mexico complete with authentic red & green chili sauces is not to be missed, Gecko’s was my best meal in Cape May! Come get your chili fix here, the Friendly staff was happy to explain and recommend food, also to bring red & green chili sauces for sampling. Tried the day’s special of a grilled veg burrito in a peanut chipotle sauce. A thin flour tortilla had been lightly charred then stuffed with squash, tomato, spinach and more. Sauce on top was like a mole, so good; all that veg kept it light, $ 11. We also got a steak burrito which brought perfectly charred marinated beef and black beans properly seasoned with epazote, generously topped with sour cream and chunky guacamole, $ 13. Both simply excellent, the bomb, you name it. Vegetarian rating: 5 stars also for the many interesting yummy choices: all the chili sauces are vegan, they have Hopi corn stew with dumplings, the grilled veg burrito, rice & bean burrito, bean & roasted corn cakes, tostadas, guac, chips & salsa of course and also many salads. The enclosed patio was delightful on a cool April day. Only two minor gripes: they charge $ 5 for the fresh warm lightly salted corn chips with a large bowl of tomato, onion and jalapeño mild salsa. And not enough seafood at lunch, the trout and salmon are limited to dinner. BYO. Lunch menu doesn’t have all the good stuff that appears at dinner but for the ones that do, prices are about half lol I really wanna come back for the Ute lamb taco. And the corn stew. And the huevos rancheros. And especially the pozole. You get the idea :)

Good lunch today at Gecko’s in Cape May. It’s your typical Tex-Mex fare, so it’s hard to get too excited about it. But Gecko’s is putting out a solid product in a nice, quiet outdoor location, tucked just a block away from the trendy Washington Square Mall. The plating is exceptional for a joint of this type. Someone obviously knows what they are doing in the kitchen. The food, though, just slightly underdelivered in terms of taste. Everything seemed like it was a seasoned a little too«safely» and could have used a little more saltiness and punch. The black beans were the most flavorful, but they were cooked with a hint of some spice or something that we didn’t really care for. When I requested hot sauce, I was pleased to receive a side of habanero salsa/relish. This is the best stuff on the planet when you want serious heat mixed with flavor. Once again, someone in the kitchen knows what they’re doing. For this reason, and for the great service we received, I would really like to give Gecko’s four stars. For as much as we all liked what we got, I can’t say we loved it. Perhaps we have been ruined by too much over-Americanized Tex-Mex food that we can’t appreciate what sets Gecko’s apart from all of that. Completely possible. But what I will say, is that if you like Tex-Mex or Mexican food, Gecko’s is a good choice and I would recommend you giving them a shot and judging for yourself.

Went for lunch. Outdoor seating with a cute hippie waiter. It was a beautiful afternoon and was the perfect place for an outdoor bite. My husband and I shared the guacamole as an appetizer. It was creamy and a good portion size. I had the tomato chipotle soup which had parmesan croutons on it. Unexpectedly delicious! My husband had a salad which he thoroughly enjoyed with the exception of too much dressing at the bottom of it. Go for lunch — it’s quiet and the food is great.
