It’s one of those places that you wanted to like… found the place on a whim. We were greeted by what seemed like the owner. He wasn’t very enthusiastic about us being there. Waiter and severs were good. Food is a mixed bag. Spaghetti was not good but the lasagna was. Bread was so so. On our way out the owner was more interested in the sharks game than acknowledge us leaving. Too bad. Cute place.

Pretty good food and fairly fast service. I go here with my daughter a lot. The lasagna is great and the bread is awesome. Some of the servers are better than others. But overall, id recommend

My wife and I have been ordering Pizza togo for over the last two year at Al Castello. The Staff are very friendly when we call and pick-it up in person. The wait time is from 15 – 20 mins each time. The pizza is always fresh and ready togo when we arrive. There pizza sauce is made from scratch. The price for a large one topping pizza is $ 21 dollars without tax. It is well worth the money.

Al Castello is our favorite restaurant. They go out of their way to make us happy, and they don’t know us from any other customer(we usually order through grub hub or someplace similar). I ask for spice, my wife asks for extra sauce, they always deliver exactly what we want. Perfect little Italian joint. We love their food!

Nice to have a local mom & pop restaurant that serves delicious food. They whole family loves this place. Dinning in or out, there is no difference in the food. Be sure to have the bread… it’s amazing!

Came in during lunch on a Thursday. Surprisingly very little people were there. I was asked if I’d like to sit towards the front of the restaurant or the back, as it was a table for 1. I said whenever was fine. I was seated and immediately a basket of breadsticks was brought to me and my waiter came to ask what drink I would like to start off with. He went to get my drink and when he came back, took my order. I got an order of the Lasagna, which surprisingly came with the choice of a soup or salad on the side. I decided to go with the minestrone soup, which was promptly brought out to me. The soup was hot and smelled incredible. I had some of the soup and it tasted absolutely amazing. My lasagna came out shortly after that and it was much bigger than I expected. The lasagna smelled amazing and looked delectable. I couldn’t wait to dig in. The lasagna was cooked perfectly! And everything tasted pretty great. The only thin was, it was suppose to come with ricotta and I didn’t notice any… but I didn’t mind, so I didn’t as about it. I devoured the lasagna because it was so great haha. Oops. My server came back and refilled my drink without my having to ask, so I’ll give them 3.5÷5 with service. My meal came out to only $ 13 or so dollars. Which is amazing considering the ambiance of the place seems much more up scale. Food is affordable and I definitely want to come back to check out other dishes offered here. The décor was very nice. You have Italian music playing in the background, and I mean I’ve never personally been to Italy, but the décor, music, and overall feel of the place made me feel as though I was. Definitely going to come back here.

Another mom and pop restaurant in the area that I love! Occasionally we have medical reps that bring us catered lunch from here and I look forward to eating the food from here. The lasagna is delicious full of meat and cheese! Ladies and gents they do not skimp on the cheese!!! The chicken parm is nice and hearty and fills you up nicely and the chicken picatta has a nice light lemon sauce with capers if you like those they’re so good! In my opinion everything tastes the way it should when you think of Italian food and garlic breadsticks come with your order.

I have been going to Al Castello’s for many years. If you are looking for a fantastic Italian Restaurant you have found it. Over the years I have tried almost every dish and each one has been a glowing experience. I am from New York which has a lot of very good Italian Restaurants but this is by far the best one I have experienced. As many have said the bread is to die for, but so is every dish with a touch of Sicily

After walking 1.5 miles to look at pretty Christmas lights, my hubby and I were starving, thirsty, and just downright tired. We both wanted something heavy and super filling, so Italian cuisine shot to the top of our list for dinner options. My hubby chose Al Castello Ristorante & Pizzeria which was super close by. The plaza, however, is SOSMALL! In fact, when we arrived, there was a car that was trying to back out of its stall and it took ATLEAST four tries before the driver could finally maneuver his car out of the lot. Luckily for us, there was one last spot near the end that was roomy enough for my hubby to park without a fuss. When we first walked through the door, I was a little disappointed at how dingy and tiny the restaurant was, with the bar taking up a huge chunk of the room and leaving just a few tables by the window. But suddenly, the hostess led us further into the back and my eyes widened in surprise. Decorated like a restaurant from Italy, the walls were made of a tan-colored stone and fixed with«faux» windows that looked out onto Italian waters. There were also green plants throughout and wooden tables with cute red-checkered tablecloths. What a cute place! The menu wasn’t too big(which I like because I hate being overwhelmed by too many options), but the font was quite small, making for a more difficult read than it should have been. Wanting to jump right into the main course, my hubby chose lasagna for his entrée and I chose the pollo al marsala that came with chicken, mushrooms, and fettuccine in a white wine sauce. Complimentary bread and balsamic dressing was provided at each table. The bread was to die for! Lightly dusted with herbs and cheese, the dough was flaky yet soft at the same time. I loved it so much that my hubby gave me the last bite. It didn’t take long for our food to be served and the smell wafting from our plates was PHENOMENAL. My hubby’s lasagna was thick and square-shaped with tomato sauce covering the bottom of the plate and cheese bubbling on top of the layered pasta. While the meat sauce was delicious with big pieces of sausage throughout the aromatic tomato sauce, my hubby felt his pasta was slightly overcooked, eliciting a tougher texture than he would have preferred. However, it didn’t stop him from finishing it all. My dish, on the other hand, was perfect! Just from appearance, I knew the chicken was going to be super tender and I was 100% right. My dish was served with two large pieces of chicken breast that were drenched in the wine sauce as well as mushrooms and green onions. The sauce coated every inch of the fettuccine, dressing each forkful of pasta with a savory and semi-sweet taste. I practically cleaned my plate by the end of dinner. The portion sizes were perfect, leaving us so full that we couldn’t order any dessert. Pricing was also super decent and for food like that, we would almost say it was a steal! I am already hopeful that this may be a new Italian-restaurant favorite of ours, but we have to go back one more time before we can be sure. Fingers crossed it’ll be just as good, if not better, than this time!

Now that’s Italian!!! I love the food at Al Castello’s, and have probably introduced 20+ people to the little hide away(all of whom have become big fans!) The entire meal is consistently delicious, and the breadsticks and tiramisu are award winners! They deserve every star!

Nice ambience and staff Clean and pleasant Café style Unfortunately the food was not tasty My capellini was soggy and tasteless The breadsticks are average My friend was not impressed by the tortellini either I don’t return food in general because I worry about what happens in the kitchen afterwards but this is one time I wish I had I had been here a few years back and recalled the food being much better tasting. Unclear on what changed.

I love this place a lot. We get food to go from here all the time. My favorite is the tortellini. The lasagna a is also pretty awesome. My one gripe is that today I ordered the tortellini and it was 1⁄3 of the size I normally get. There was zero sauce on it and it was luke warm. While I love this restaurant I’m afraid the quality has gone down as well as the portions. I hope they get back on track because I do like their food but truly truly disappointed tonight and won’t be going back anytime soon!

I’ve been here twice in recent months(once dine in, and once take-out) and have been very satisfied both times. I’ve enjoyed the veal scaloppini and seafood linguini. Both were prepared with fresh ingredients. The dining room décor/atmosphere is more traditional(or dated), but the food(both flavor and portion) is great. This is not a first-date destination, but very suitable for casual friends and family. I would come back again to explore their other menu entrees.

The food at this place was amazing! First time being here and the service was very good. The environment was great except a screaming kid that kept screaming and when asking for manager to address was told that they could not do anything. Perhaps providing an environment for all to enjoy Would be better created by a more professional environment and conducive for dinning.

Food was good. Bread sticks, pizza were the favorites. Gnocchi was light– pesto was just okay. Beware!!! They no longer take 10% off for automobile club members.

This place is pretty freaking awesome. Huge portions and really good prices. I had the Lasagna di Manza, and it fed me for 3 days. Stuffed with meats and ricotta and buried under a thick blanket of melty mozzarella The girl had tortellini and enjoyed it a lot. Bread sticks are average, as is Ceasar Salad, but everything else stands above local Italian food.

We mostly come here for the pizza, which is very good. This place is walking distance from our house, and has way better pizza than any of the places that deliver to us. The only major downside is the price. Their pizza is very expensive, but as I said it is very close by and very good. We did eat inside the restaurant one time with family, and everyone really enjoyed it. They have a varied menu, an intimate and almost romantic atmosphere inside, but still offering friendly and casual service. This is not a super fancy high end Italian restaurant. This is a small, local place with good food and better pizza than most other places in the area.

I was in the area after a doctor’s appointment and was looking at lunch options. Wasn’t feeling sandwiches or barbecue, and haven’t had Italian since New Years so figured I’d give a 4 star Unilocal place a shot. Located in a small strip mall, the place isn’t that impressive from the outside, but expect a deep, nice looking sit down restaurant once you get inside. Honestly was impressed, and a number of other patrons mentioned the same. The host desk and bar is at the front with a few tables, followed by the open kitchen in the middle, and a large dining area in the back. So I could see this place working for large groups. I was quickly greeted by chef-owner Giovanni, seated and handed the lunch menu and the wine menu. While I generally am a beer person, when in Rome, so I went with a glass of the J. Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon. The lunch menu features a number of appetizers, sandwiches, baked pasta dishes, some seafood, chicken, veal, and a large selection of vegetarian dishes. For the most part the menu was pretty standard — the dinner menu does get a few more unique items like Saltimbocca alla Romana, Vitello e Gamberi, and Capellini alla San Nicola. Though if you are a fan of artichokes, you’ll be intrigued by some of the selections here. As for me, I haven’t had veal parmigiana in a long time and went with that classic. I was quickly served bread and the salad. The bread was warm and fluffy, and with the oil and pepper on the table and you can dip in. The salad was nothing to write about. And a few minutes after finishing out came my meal. Solid veal parmigiana: good amount of melted cheese, and the crispy baked edges you want on your veal. The fettuccine marinara was sweet and went well, though I’m partial to just spaghetti with my parmigiana, it was good. And the portions were right — I ended up with dinner as well. I could see returning here for dinner for a decent, casual Italian meal. As you can see on their about us section, they fit a niche in the neighborhood and do it well. But not a place I would drive across the Bay for.

This is one of those cases where I feel like I was deceived by Unilocal.I don’t want anyone else to be disappointed the way I was so I’m going to write an honest review — this place is realistically 2.5 stars, definitely no more than 3. Below average pasta, and overpriced. When I see a 4 star italian restaurant, I expect carefully crafted pasta with exquisite meats and sauces. What I got was more akin to pasta carelessly put together at a quality that would be served at Applebees, and for $ 14-$ 17 a dish? No thanks. I knew something was off when their menu was structured by Pastas and then by Meats(Poultry/Seafood/etc.), except the Meats were not traditional entrees… they were just more pasta dishes that came with a piece of meat… but some of them are a piece of meat that comes with a side of pasta. And if you don’t want the pasta you can sub it out for veggies or something. Confusing? Yeah. The waitress didn’t do any better of a job explaining the menu either and fumbled around when we asked what was good/popular here. Anyhow, after looking it over, we got two pasta dishes: 1. Penne alla Salvia — $ 13.95 — beef, prosciuto, sage, carrots with penne in a white wine sauce. This was bad. The beef was literally chunks of ground beef that was barely seasoned and left a puddle of grease at the bottom of the dish. The white wine sauce was hardly there, the penne was«naked» with barely any sauce on it. The carrots were strange… carrots in pasta? Didn’t notice very much prosciuto in there either. Overall just a bad dish. Don’t order this. 2. Capellini alla San Nicola — $ 16.50 — prawns, shrimp, spinach, tomatoes, garlic, in Alfredo sauce. This was just boxed linguine with 4 prawns and small limp shrimps tossed in simple alfredo sauce and the veggies. Not bad, not great, pretty unimpressive. Only redeeming factor was the unlimited breadsticks, and even those were made inconsistently. Each batch we got were different, and all too lightly seasoned(one batch was golden and crunchy, others were white and pasty, some were warm and some were cold). If you’re looking for genuine pasta, don’t waste your money here. If you’re looking for a casual place to eat some average overpriced pasta, then this might be the place for you. Personally, I’d rather go somewhere else with quality food that’s more worth my money.
