The place was nice looking but empty, the calamari was freezer-burned, ribeye was some random tenderized beef, music was distractingly loud. Overall not worth my money or stomach space.

My nostalgia review as Zeyno is no more. Pretty solid Greek and Italian mashup. Good salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp. The rib eye was also tasty in it’s peppercorn sauce. However we didn’t like the the chocolate dessert all that much(and one of us is a chocolate fiend). RIP Zeyno, we welcome the transformation to Spanish cuisine!

Zeyno has been around a while, and is a good Mediterranean grill next to a couple of really great restaurants(Trapeze, Nectar). The menu spans Middle East, Greek, Italian and a bit of Spanish. Slightly weird, in that it makes it hard to have a cohesive meal when you share appetizers, salad, and courses. Example: Eastern mezze plate with Italian Lasagna and a Pomajito. That sort of dissonance is easy to come by here. The biggest reason we don’t go there very often is that they’re not on OpenTable – so they simply don’t come up when we’re doing our typical last minute planning. Sure seems to me they’d benefit from exposure on OpenTable. There was no crowd on a Sunday – we weren’t even sure they were open, though after they seated us in the window a few other couples came in. One problem is that unlike the other restaurants on the street, there’s seldom outdoor seating set up. So in comparison to other places they look closed when the others look open. Pomajito was very tasty. Good lasagna, really good bread. Meze plate was just ok, very tomato heavy. I wouldn’t have it again.

My friend’s and I came here for my 19th birthday on 3⁄14. I had made reservations beforehand thinking that it would be packed around 7 on a Saturday – it wasn’t. When we stepped in, there was only one couple in the entire restaraunt. *tumbleweed* «Ooooookay…» We sat down and the waiter came by to help us out with our orders and was polite and helpful the entire time. We had complimentary bread which was good and the ambiance was very nice. The place is a little big also. which is good and bad depending on the person. We started off with the bruschetta(which comes with 4 but the waiter gave us 5 since there were five of us which was very nice). Although our waiter was wonderful, the food took forever to get to our table. During that time, we asked one of the other waiters if we could get more bread since we had finished ours. The guy said of course… and then never came back. No bread. Maybe it’s the fact that he wasn’t OUR waiter, but other waiters at other restaraunts help people out even if they are not seated at their table. And on top of that, he DID agree to bring us bread. Don’t do it if you don’t intend to. At least tell us you’ll get our waiter to do it. So anyways, we waited a good 45 minutes until the food came. After that painful wait period, our food came. I ordered the Paella(which came with salad-I don’t know what kind but the dressing was AMAZING). My friends ordered the Lasagna, Penne Con Pollo, Gnocchi, and the Ravioli di Aragosto. The Paella, Lasagna, and the Penne Con Pollo were all a good portion. HOWEVER, the Gnocchi and the Ravioli were TINY. SUPERTINY. Like, eat and still be hungry tiny. The ravioli came in 4.5 pieces. Why .5? Because one of them either shrank while being made or it was a not fully matured ravioli piece-I don’t know. But, I ordered enough so I was happy and didn’t really think about other people’s hungry stomachs. After we finished, our waiter came to take away our plates. BUT. didn’t offer dessert. &I wanted dessert. Thankfully, they brought a slice of cake out for me since it was my birthday and my friends and I all shared that. It was the best chocolate cake I ever had. Not too sweet and just right. Lots of different layers. Mmmmmm. I want some now. So after dessert, the bill came. $ 135. For 5 people. Roughly $ 27 on average for a meal. WOW. Paid with no complaints since we were too tired to deal with anything else. Long story short since I’m tired of typing now, decent food if you get a good enough helping, good service for the majority of the meal, nice ambiance, $$$$$$$$$$$$$. Probably will not be back unless the prices are reduced.

Ate here with the family. Not as kid friendly as I would have imagined. The restaurant did have a high chair for a toddler, but the environment had too much of an intimate feel to be proper for crying kids; needless to say we felt embarrassed for disturbing our fellow diners. Kids aside, the food is great. The baba ghanoush and calamari were excellent appetizers. We got fresh bread and dipping oil between our appetizer and salad. The chicken souvlaki I ordered had a few slightly dry pieces, but overall I loved it. The meal felt filling, yet also healthy, as nothing was greasy. The prices are very reasonable; the most expensive entrée was only $ 20! As a result, we were able to order 2 appetizers, 8 entrees, a few drinks, and an extra entrée for someone unable to attend, all for about $ 200! Good service. I reserved via their website, and got a confirmation call no later than a half-hour after placing it. The waiter was very knowledgeable, polite, and accommodating to my baby niece. The service was not rushed at all. I’d definitely bring a date here. Pass if you have a toddler, though.

My experience here was hilarious. little did we know the place was a little fancier than we expected. We came in rolling out of bed, but service was still on par. I love the little Mexican waiters who gave us the $ 7 hummus for free. I didn’t know but this place is a Spanish/Italian/Greek fusion. Their garlic tapenade that comes with the free bread was outta this world! & The stuffed salmon was definitely stuffed with crab heaven! It came with the creamiest mashed potatoes and the dill sauce was rich. The salmon dish was definitely a decadent filler. Great place to go for a nice dinner and drinks with your girls or boys.

Went here for a business lunch — terrific food, nice service, great atmosphere. You’ve had gyros and souvlaki(kebabs) before but here it’s a step above ordinary. I’d say it’s a step or two down from Kokkari/Evvia but the food was rocking. Well decorated space, very helpful and attentive staff. Gave us complimentary hummus for making us wait a little while — and great hummus it was. Pita bread that was offered with it was not dry and stale as most pita is — soft and moist. It’s the little things like that which made it a nice meal. The souvlaki i had with rice pilaf was terrific and I felt somewhat healthy eating it. I suppose I see why the Mediterranean diet leads to longer lives. I look forward to going back and trying something new.

Came here for dinner last night(made reservations a couple days prior via their website. After I made the reservations online, I got a phone call from a staff person about an hour later confirming my time) and the host asked us if we wanted to dine inside our out. Most of the patrons were eating al fresco so we decided to do the same, especially since it was still a little warm out. We were given menus and a few minutes later, we were given some sliced up focaccia bread with a small bowl of garlic infused olive oil for dipping. The menu wasn’t true greek/mediterranean. I read other reviews saying that the menu is more italian with some mediterranean touches but the offerings seemed appealing so I didn’t mind. Going over the appetizer list, I was interested in getting the bruschetta or babaganoush but luckily our server(friendly, soft-spoken man) suggested the Meze Platter appetizer because it already had bruschetta and babaganoush along with hummus, dolmas and feta on tomatoes. I ordered the moussaka and honestly, I was a little full by the time it arrived(because we were guilty of asking for a second basket of foccacia to eat with the hummus). We spent a leisurely hour drinking wine, having a conversation and eating our meze platter that when we got our entrees, we were already nearing max capacity but the moussaka was pretty good and had lots of flavor and seasoning. The beschamel was pretty tasty. I sampled some lamb from my cousin’s lamb kebab and the lamb was grilled to her specs(med-rare) and it was really juicy. My sister said that her grilled chicken was a little dry but overall she enjoyed her meal. Towards the end of our meal, when the sky was finally dark, we were a little chilly and wished there were heat lamps… maybe there were but we sat closer to the hair salon next door to feel anything but 4 stars anyway for decent food and fantastic service.

Not very impressive. It says its Mediterranean, but a quick scan of the menu shows a lot more Italian and European influence. The result is a restaurant that tries to be a little bit of everything but ends up not being good at anything. Don’t get me wrong, the food is still edible, but there is no central theme to it especially if you end up ordering a variety of dishes. Maybe if they refocused on Mediterranean it would be better, but given that they are in Burlingame their fusion approach probably gets more business.

Just another«Mediterranean» restaurant that can’t pick a specific region to serve food from, and the ones that it does… aren’t that good. For real Mediterranean food: For Casual Go to Rainbow Pizza and save 20 bucks. For a Date go to Kokkari in the City.

We just came back from a family function here. I guess normally the restaurant isn’t open for lunch on Sundays, but for this private event, they were willing to accommodate. We had a set dining menu — so we didn’t get to select our entrees on our own. We started off with what can only be described as a sampler dish. Individual portions. Babaganoush, hummus, dolma, and bruschetta. Everything was fabulous. I normallly don’t like bruschetta with tomatoes, but I totally gobbled mine down. Next was the Zenyno salad. Yummy spinach and other seasonal greens with a light champagne vinegar dressing. Delicious. For the entrée, we had a mix of rice pilaf with both a chicken and lamb kebabs. WOW. The lamb was much better, but both were extremely tasty and thank goodness for aunts who don’t eat that much, because we took their leftovers home. Dessert was a cake from an outside vendor. The service was extraordinary. We were greeted with our choice of red or white wine. Throughout our meal, the service was very friendly — always service with a smile. I would come back here in a heartbeat. I can’t wait to try some of the other entrees suggested by the other reviewers. If they’re anything like I tasted today, I think I’m always going to be in for a treat.

How Zeyno Mediterranean Grill was chosen for dinner: Greens was booked. The person organizing had seen some restaurants from the Burlingame Caltrain station. A search in Unilocal for restaurants near the train station produced several. She chose the one that had the street name that was *easiest to type* on the Garmin not paying attention to ratings. Who knew that that method would choose a good restaurant? ;-) The Chicken Souvlaki was tasty with a good amount of chicken. The white rice was also very well prepared. Yum. Two friends at our table split the Orange Roughy special dish and the Spinach Gnocchi. A great combination which both seemed to enjoy. The Stuffed Salmon was just okay from the small bite that I had. Zeyno is a Greek-style mediterranean restaurant. I’d probably go back. Probably 3.5+ stars. The company would have made 5+ stars(but that’s not really about the restaurant ;-).

It bums me out when I see all of these reviews with a great experience and mine is so mediocre. We were the largest party there(doesn’t that equal big $$ to a waiter?)… so it was kind of dissapointing that the customer service was lacking. They were happy to have us, but couldn’t keep the waters or bread baskets filled(BTW… the bread was actually amazing). Things that were so, so… the mezze platter which I am usually in LOVE with at any other restaurant was kind of boring. The babagonoush wasn’t traditional(and the spin on it wasn’t very good) and the hummus was WAY to garbanzo bean-y. No one at our table liked the dolmas, either! That’s a pretty bad plate to not have mastered. There are TWO veal scaloppines(for some reason) on the menu, the waiter thought I was talking about the other one(could have been my fault), but when I got my plate, it looked like pigs in a blanket! Can you imagine veal wrapped up in some sort of fatty looking thing? Good news is that it tasted better than it looked… but it looked pretty… FUNKY. Wine selection is not good. You can’t really expect much from Mediterranean restaurants in this area anyways, but it was definitely lacking. Otherwise, the menu looks great and has a lot to offer— looks like I didn’t order the right thing. Oh well! Wouldn’t go back, food has to be OUTOFTHISWORLD for me to endure crappy wait service.
