It’s no longer my favourite in the area(Star Of India is slightly better for me, and a bit less«authentic Indian» and a bit more«British Indian» which is why I like it more, and Palace Of Dosas is hard to top too), but it’s definitely the most authentic Indian place in the area, and it’s family owned and delightful, and the food is usually really good. The buffet is always tasty, and it’s miles better and more authentic than the India Gate and Taste Of India types which are extremely Americanized Indian. Their Chicken Madras, Chicken Curry, and Chicken Makhni are all excellent. Their Tandoori is good. Their Naan is good. Their buffet is cheap and they always show Bollywood movies for your viewing pleasure while you eat. The Bollywood girls are really sexy — go and see for yourself. Great outfits. Reminder: they are on the TV, not in the restaurant and definitely not on the menu. Did you know Richard Gere is disliked in India because he once kissed a major Bollywood star onstage? It’s hard for me to rate Indian restaurants in America highly because I grew up in England and go back sometimes, where the Indian food is so vastly superior and different, that it can honestly not even be called the same cuisine. I think it’s fair to say I am in love with the English version of Indian more than the Indian version of Indian(which you can get in Jackson Heights, Queens NYC), and the Americanized version(which is exemplified by most Indian restaurants in the US). If these places were in England, they would have much lower ratings. But I rate them based on American standards because that is only fair — it’s not exactly easy or cheap to get to England, especially not just for a curry(but it’s worth it). Canadian standards of Indian food are slightly higher, as are those in Jackson Heights. This one is the most similar to the type you’d find in Jackson Heights, out of the Buffalonian ones. Try Star Of India on Delaware, and this one, and Palace Of Dosas, and see which one you like best. All different, all excellent, all fairly cheap. 5⁄5 and one of the best in town.

A pretty authentic Indian restaurant and a great deal for their dinner buffet under $ 10. The only downsides were that the restaurant itself looked a little dingy and that the food wasn’t very fresh/hot. It looked like it had been sitting there for a while… like hours. However, the naan was really good and overall, I still think India Gate has better food overall but Moti Mahal is a lot better for your $.

We ordered several dishes(Chicken Tikka Masala, plain naan, the usual stuff for an Indian restaurant) and everything was fantastic. Probably the best Indian meal I’ve had in Buffalo. I’ll be back to try some of the other dishes for sure.

Moti Mahal has changed hands and is now Delhi Chaat. SOSOSOSOSOSOSO good! Best chaat that I’ve had since visiting India. The samosa chaat is a must-have. I didn’t even get a chance to get anything from their delicious-looking lunch buffet, since I was so stuffed from ordering just a few chaat dishes. Very affordable, very delicious, and the owners are just so nice! It’s now my favorite Indian restaurant in all of upstate NY.

Absolutely love moti mahal… this is the place to go if you are looking for traditional Indian food. You have to try a mango lasse if you go there… delicious yogurt mango drink!

This place wins the ‘Indian food in Buffalo’ contest for me. They have good, affordable food(and a buffet that doesnt sacrifice any of the quality you get from ordering off the menu). The naan is excellent as well. I used to go here all the time as a student at UB’s north campus. If you want good, cheap Indian food in Amherst, this is where you need to go.

After read all the reviews, I decided to give this restaurant a try. We had their lunch buffet, cause we want to try some different varieties. Buffet is cheap, $ 8.95 per person. It’s not a big buffet like Chinese buffet, very small, probably 8 hot entrees, and a little bit salad. I like the vegetable curries the best, I didn’t really know the name of them, but they all pretty tasty. The Naan was very good, especially the garlic ones. I ate too much there.

Moti Mahal is one of a few Indian restaurants that a pretty close to UB south campus. When I used to live in the area, it was a must-go-to on the weekends after a night of clubbing. The buffet was the main reason for going, since it is well priced and very good, with lots of variety. The lunch buffet as well as the dinner buffet are great, but the lunch buffet is better priced and pretty much has the same stuff as dinner buffet. The food is not the best I have had, but it’s rather authentic and made with care. The restaurant itself is a good size inside, with enough seating and spacing as not to feel to overcrowded when its busy. The staff are all very pleasant, not very chatty but very attentive and nice. Good eats, at a good price!
