Went here for my birthday on December 30th. The service was great and the food exceptional! Full bar offered. My Long Island was fantastic. You get a free piece of pie in your birthday. I had so much to eat, I had to take mine«To Go». I had the Turkey Dinner and my husband had The Chopped Steak Dinner. All I can say is – num, num, num!!!

Jan’s is a great local joint. BIG home-style breakfasts and what fantastic service! We literally had two waitresses fighting over us(I’m sure it was because of how handsome my buddies are). Pancakes, eggs, hash browns, French toast, and all the other usual stuff. They make them big and very good flavors. There were a lot of locals eating there so we got the usual«Where you boys from and why are you here?» looks but there was no violence. We enjoyed a great meal and great service. PLENTY of food and good thing since we did a lot of hiking that day. So Jan’s is a super place to fuel up first thing in the morning!

I have been coming here for over 20 years, and have only eaten the breakfast. It’s a divey kinda place with lots of character. Most of the waitresses are a hoot to talk to and will make sure you are well taken care of. I’m a huge fan of their omelettes, and on occasion will order their monster breakfast burrito, although I can never finish it. It’s fun now watching my kids get excited about going to Jan’s before we head back home, just like I used to. It’s possibly only a three, but for nostalgia and the awesome wait staff I have to give it a four.

Get the Mountain Mama sandwich and never look back! I challenge you to find a better place in Buena Vista. Good luck.

Great place for breakfast after hiking in the mountains. The place is pretty decent… Get the biscuits and gravy if that’s your thing. The place is a bit dirty and could be cleaned up and everyone is always running around and stressed. That’s what’s keeping me from giving it a 4 star. Everyone could benefit from just chilling out. It’s a mountain town so most people know it’s more laid back than what you expect in the city. Will return though!

Stopped into Jan’s on a recent drive through the Rockies — I loved it. It’s down home cooking at its best and the staff is incredibly friendly. Portions were large and prices were good. I don’t know when I’ll be back in the area but if I am, I’ll come here again!

Classic comfort food. We both had the meatloaf dinner, and it was excellent. Service and speed were good.

My boyfriend and I were on the road from Aurora to Buena Vista super early, so we were hungry for lunch around 10:30. We had stopped elsewhere to try and get lunch food, but other places were only serving breakfast. Jan’s serves breakfast all day AND lunch at anytime, so points for that! I got a french dip and he got a philly cheese steak; basically the same item except mine came with au jus and his had cheese and onions and peppers on it. The meat was really good and tasty, and the fries were perfect. Food in general from Jan’s just looks to be awesome: I saw someone eating pancakes that were probably twice the size of my head. Service was nice, quick, and unintrusive. The interior might not be to everyone’s tastes, but I found it homey. It’s a mountain-town diner, what do you expect? There’s a fireplace in the dining area that I bet is really nice in the winter. Boyfriend and I want to come back and have a cozy breakfast in the winter sometime.

It was a great place for breakfast and coffee before heading out of town. The waitresses were sweet and Jan herself stopped by out table. A food runner gave our food to another table. She tried to play it off as an Aprils fools joke which was odd. I’m sure she was embarrassed, but we were one of three tables in the restaurant, so not sure where the confusion was. The food was super tasty and a big portion. I would recommend this place.

Menu reminded me of an old person restaurant. Burger was burnt. Sweet potato fries tasted like the oil in the fryers super old. Save your money. Go to subway.

Basic small town restaurant. I enjoyed my visit. Good menu with variety, maybe keep in mind where you are when you’re ordering. I’d be happy to stop here after a day playing in the snow or up on a 14er.

Cute little diner with a varied menu. Large portions and good prices too. Tried to order a glass of wine with dinner and the waitress didn’t know the difference between red wines and white, or what they had available, but this was a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. They serve breakfast all day which is a nice bonus.

We spent several days in town & ate at Jan’s 4 or 5 times. The service was good, everyone is friendly, menu is varied & prices are resonable. Their burgers are better than«K’s», their Liver ‘n Onions was very good(the chef knows his liver) but you must try their special«The Slopper»! Don’t judge a dish by it’s name, this was good to the last bite & I bought their cookbook just for the Green Chili recipe.

Stopped in at Jan’s last winter on the way up to ski and and loved the homey small ski town atmosphere! Ordered the Chicken Parmesan which was scrumptious and banana cream pie for dessert. It was good people watching too and looks like hearty food fill up for skiiers and snowshoers in the area!

An excellent place to stop for good old fashion home cookin. The menu had a good variety, breakfast served all day and homemade pie. Can’t beat that. My husband had the chicken fried chicken and enjoyed every bite. I had the ribeye done exactly the way I like it. Service was very upbeat and friendly. Even the younger kids bussing. Can’t wait to visit again.

I don’t even know where to begin. From the 80s era décor to the bland food, I was extremely underwhelmed by this local diner.
