Spacious bar w variety of drinks and happy hours! I went there couple of occasions, and like the vibes! Sunday evening happy hours was nice and chilled, bartenders were very friendly, there’s a back yard area where you can hang on summer times and get food after couple of drinks! At night esp on weekend, this places turns into more than just a bar, there’s plenty of people and room to dance the night away!

This place has very bad management. Theres a place for coat check but no one standing there to take your coats so you just see coats lying around everywhere in the bar. Bouncers walking around have attitude and look like they hate their life. The outdoor smoking section closes early and they ask u to smoke outside in the street. The food truck section has too many heaters which makes it impossible to enjoy your food or hang out. On the other hand, the outdoor section has no heaters so u have to freeze to death when hanging out outside then sweat when u go inside.

Wanna take a out of town friend somewhere to dance? This is the place. Diverse crowd, great DJ and people that actually dance! What more can you ask for? I know! Cheaper drinks! haha.

I came here for brunch bounce ugly sweater party so I’m not sure this review is accurate of what a regular night is like. Ambience: Place is pretty spacious with a hut in the back that serves food and has a second bar. The main room was packed and the bathroom line was awful. Crowd was your usual brunch bounce crowd, young, mostly black and latinos. Music: Was top 40 but towards the end they played more EDM. Drinks: They had $ 5 fireball shots but not sure if this was just for the sweater party. Other drinks seem to be $ 10 and up Service: Everyone was decent I would like to go back on a regular night for final verdict.

If you’re reading this page to see whether The Woods is, «worth it»…It’s NOT. Please run away. If you’re a girl and want to be grinded upon from enter to exit, go for it. If you’re a guy and want to get racially profiled, GOFORIT! It was the biggest disappointment after paying to attend a NYE event. Not only was the physicial space disgusting, gross, and full of broken glass, but everyone was packed in like sardines and the dance floor was absolutely disgusting(unless you enjoy not being able to move whilst random guys grind on anything that moves). To top it all off, a member of our group was singled out buy a group of 6 men and one girl(see what I said before?) for allegedly«grabbing her ass.» Mind you, the guy is married, to me, his wife. We all only had 1 drink so far, and we were Snapchatting in the corner of the bar. The girl who obviously had a little too much to drink, points to my husband while her boyfriend is behind her with his friends egging her on. The bouncers knew how ridiculous this whole situation was. BUT, let me quote«SHE’S RELATEDTOTHEOWNER» And, «WEHAD A BAD UnilocalREVIEWLASTWEEK from a girl getting her ass grabbed, so we have to throw you out. We know you didn’t do it. Sorry.» While I am all for women’s rights and protecting women in disgusting places like this, it is 100% unreasonable for a girl to just go around pointing to get people thrown out, without hearing the entire story and at the same time HAVING to be thrown out because 1) she’s related to the owner and 2) they had a bad Unilocal review. Boo hoo. Here’s another :) I was with my husband(mind you a 27 year old USMC Officer Veteran) and our friends the whole time. This place needs to be shown in it’s true light. Shame on them. I urgue you to read all of the negative reviews of this place, as this complaint of bigotry and profiling is not unique. Choose a better place to give your $$$.

This place is not gay friendly. I was called a «fucking faggot» as I was leaving by the bouncer. Such language by a business in Brooklyn in 2015 is morally reprehensible.

It’s a real shame that the staff at this bar don’t protect their clients. Saturday night I was assaulted by a man at the bar and when I brought it to the bouncers attention, instead of throwing the guy out they became buddies and allowed him to stay. It is 100% unacceptable that this man who grabbed my ass was allowed to remain in the bar. I will never be back and I recommend that other women not give business to a place that does not value respecting women. I hope that management will reconsider their bouncers. Aside from this specific issue, their staff were all generally unpleasant. Maybe next time, when someone calls the cops, their staff will take this issue more seriously. As they should.

Came here for a magazine launch after-party this weekend. I presented my completely legitimate drivers license,(not even close to expiration,) and not only would the door guy not let me in, but he made no effort to reason with me or find a way to get his scanner working(I can assure you, it was not nearly busy enough to dismiss the situation like that). Knowing that there is nothing faulty about my ID I felt extremely annoyed and embarrassed when I had to leave my friends and travel all the way back to jersey city. In short, this door guy treated me like an underage piece of shit, even though it was his scanner that had the issue(every other scanner has read my ID perfectly fine… plus what machine doesn’t have an option to type in the number, if he claimed it was my bar code that wasn’t functioning?). It’s one bar to avoid!

Went there on a Saturday night, there’s no line around 11, but get there by 1 am then you gon have to wait. Music was hipster nonsense then turned tbt hip hop and tbt top 40s– this got people dancing. Oh yeeaaahh. Drinks are creative and not too expensive. I ordered the bourbon mixed drink(forgot da name) and it was pretty good– I mean for a lady who’s used to drinking ladylike drinks like shots of tequila. It’s not too small so don’t worry about getting pushed around by pushy New Yorkers, the crowd was friendly and used phrases like«oh, excuse me & please» I’d go back if I ever decide to ditch Manhattan again– oh and if I don’t feel like putting on my 5″ stilettos and tight af dresses.

I visited the woods on a quiet Sunday late afternoon. it is very spacious and has a backyard patio. There weren’t many patrons there but the little time I spent there was good. The live dj was pretty good as well and the bartender was very attentive.

I like that this place doesn’t make me feel claustrophobic like some other williamsburg bars, because it’s not just a hallway with a bar in it, you actually have some room to move. This place is okay overall. The bartenders are pretty and really nice, drinks are decently priced, mixed crowd, there’s a dance floor, and an outdoor bar/seating area in the back serving yummy food. Get the patty melt, seriously. There’s a cover charge after midnight or 10pm sometimes, $ 5 – 10. When the dj is playing hiphop it’s lit! Yet other times on a Saturday they’re playing Mumford and Sons all night or w. e it is you transplants listen to. And that’s when I’ll take my patty melt to-go.

A cover charge for(at least what used to be) a dive bar in Brooklyn? Looks like I’ve been to The Woods for the last time. I honestly thought the bouncer was joking when he said it. The DJs can be good, but the long bar and bathroom lines, surly bouncers, and pushy crowd will have me going elsewhere in the future.

so my buddy slipped up and apparently we went on heh hum«woman appreciation night» *wink wink* so hey couldn’t complain about the man to woman ratio =D. The place is spacious with in door and out door mingle room. Did not feel cramped and music was playing well enough throughout. They also serve food where I had the fried pickles and burgers(9 bucks for the burger w/no sides). Cocktails are good, I had the old english that came in a very colorful cup but hell long as it tastes good. The reason this place gets 3 stars is because its cash only??? Like wth? Not sure how common that is around here but when the food can be paid with a card and the drinks can’t, that’s just silly. Probably would go again if my friend wanted… probably. *update so apparently they do accept cards inside. Who knew :-D so with that said good cocktails and bar food with good space to mingle inside or out. Not bad at all

The woods or hipster forest as I like to call it. Although recently the crowd is a bit more varied, which is a good or bad thing, depending on who you are. Now in addition to your local run of the mill hipster clones, add frat boys, club girls with ridiculous heels and a couple well tanned jersey shore rejects. Well. it’s NYC this is to be expected, but I definitely do not get the 5 dollar cover in BK, for a sweaty venue where it’s patrons are usually packed in like sardines.

Yes yes yes yes yassssss. The Woods does it right. From the cheap drinks, to the rocking music, to the cute little outdoor area. The Woods slaysssssss. No frills and thrills. No frat bro’s. No pretentious basic chicks. I had a blast! The DJ played a great mix of music and I was on my feet ALL night. The venue gets a little crowded(which is why i docked a star)…it was pretty difficult to move around. Didn’t try the food, but it’s on my to-do list. Overall, I see myself at The Woods in the near future.

I would say the high point of the evening was realizing that both J and I know 100% of the words to Ludacris’ timeless classic, Fantasy — that, and the massive outdoor patio, which will become even more clutch as the nights warm up, allowing the requisite leather jacket and/or lady blazer to be left a su casa. Unsure abt the vibe of the weekends, but on Wednesday nights everyone seems to roll w/their designated crews — which, as an outsider makes for delicious people watching — but if I was flying solo it would be intimidating as efffff — nevertheless, if you’re just looking to get some strange, it’s quite easy if you have some flavor of game or are in the line of sight of one of the many tipsy gals that makes eyes at you from beneath their artfully flat brimmed hats. Cocktails are surprisingly dec — I sampled something w lemon and bourbon and maybe iced tea and didn’t hate it — had I had my head in the game to get trashed, it would have be easy to do so and relatively inexpensive(maybe $ 10−12ish/drink, $ 6ish for beer, $ 5ish for shots). Didn’t hit the food, though a pair I was chatting w housed the Asian ribs and were thrilled — also on the menu is standard drunk fare — hush puppies, burgers, bacon on a stick…). Overall, not a bad place to dance and watch the tribes of Brooklyn ‘beauxs convene — perhaps a less great place to meet a mate, though perhaps I underestimate the validity of finding love whilst bouncing around to Missy and T-Pain.

This place might win an award for the worst vibe I have ever experienced in a bar. Everything else about this bar is great. A front bar, back bar, outside space, and a great restaurant in the back. The décor is on point for me, dark and large space inside, opening up to the bright space in the back. There was only one bartender for a lot of people but he was attentive. The tap list wasn’t amazing but what they had was decent and pretty cheap. And you can get food Now the reason for 2 stars. The crowd in this place isn’t just bad, it is an amalgamation of all sorts of bad blended into a giant ball of what the fuck is going on. Rich 30’s somethings from the city, bridge and tunnel jersey bro crowd, the occasional trying too hard Brooklyn couple. It’s just WEIRD. I noticed it when I walked in and both my girlfriend and myself wanted out. I thought I was crazy but checking out the current reviews backed up my opinion. I don’t get it either. This place is on south 4th street, far away from the SOHO like North Williamsburg. It just doesn’t add up.

The Woods, located not too far off the Williamsburg bridge, is a 3 part bar/dance club area. Upon arrival, you’re in zone 1, their dance floor where most of the down and dirty takes place. This is the kind of space usually reserved for NYC bars — Darkly lit, grimy floors, top 40 mixes and obnoxious crowds. After you’ve had enough of that, probably immediately, you can go through the back to reach zone 2, the chill area. The chill area is a lit, outdoor seating part with tables and benches. This is where you go to have a conversation with your friends, probably about how crappy zone 1 was. However, there are no heat lamps here for some reason(even though they’re all over inside), so coming out here during the winter is basically a no-go. After that, you’re probably in need of some drinks, so you can enter the door at the back to reach zone 3, the bar. The bar is a bar. It’s got your PBRs, your Bud Lights, but also your IPAs and Belgian wheats. The drinks are cheap, so get a couple of $ 6 beer + shot combos to get ready for reentry into zone 1. The bar also serves food, mostly of the famed«taco» genre. The only issue I had with the bar is that it’s just an awkward, open space. There’s no where to sit nor is there any place(other than the bar, really) to set your drinks down. If The Woods could somehow combine the best parts of each individual section into one, then you’ve got a real winner. Until then, you’re going to find yourself moving from one section to another as you start to be annoyed by the shortcomings of each.
