Really enjoyed this local bar in Williamsburg. First time in Brooklyn so we were pub crawling… found on Unilocal that they had karaōke, showed up to learn it didn’t start until 12… Which was really more like 12:40. That was a bummer… and the karaōke versions of the songs seemed a lil generic. Outside of that, I enjoyed the vibe of this spot.

Good drinks, coffee & hot cider if you don’t want alcohol. Lots of games to play. Perfect for a rainy day. Cheap. Thanks!

Sweet spot on the corner of south 4th, cheap booze and pretty chill place. Worth it, if your looking to relax and enjoy a drink during the day/workday head here no to busy and doable. For the night good spot to pre-game at if your planning to hit«The Woods» save you some cash before you dance your ass off.

Dive bar, not busy at all on a Saturday afternoon. Allows/loves dogs but not crowded at all so that was nice, my dog was not on high alert the whole time. Small beer selection, staff is super nice but not very knowledgable(asked me for Moscow Mule ingredients). Full of board games and a modern juke box. A little dirty there were flies everywhere but it was fine. Ok, would totally do if in dire need of a place to go with your dog. Otherwise… there are better locations.

This place is real chill, non-pretentious. We have a large event in the back room every year and it is always great. The staff goes out of their way to assist and even help us get the pizzas ordered from another establishment. Highly recommend.

It’s a good dive bar. Allows dogs, has board games(pieces are often missing though), doesn’t get too crowded, and music is good. During the day it’s a good place to do work, get coffee, and hangout.

i love it here. You feel at home. Great prices. They have fun bartenders… altho my fave left right after i saw him for the first time. Anyway, as I was saying… it’s very down home and in this neighborhood – or what’s left of it – that’s rare

What a friendly lil space. Stopped in here one afternoon on a whim after visiting a friend at work down the street. Happy hour was great in terms of prices(and lasted a while), and our bartender was super nice. We originally came in for a cup of coffee but stayed for a handful of drinks. I don’t know, I just really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Everything from the layout to the street corner to the little bench outside for smokers. It was cozy with character and charm, and for real, our bartender was so attentive, even into the busier hours. The only reason I’m giving this review four stars instead of five is because both of the bathrooms(though completely spotless) reeked of old piss. That was kind of a mood-killer every time I had to pee.

I think the patrons come here more so for the atmosphere than the beer selection. I liked that they had a very wide range of board games and that the games we played had all of the pieces. The music was upbeat, and the other patrons were respectful. They had a limited selection of craft beers(maybe two or three). The craft beers that were offered were also out-of-season. I found the bartenders to be imperfect. One was difficult to communicate with and the other was inattentive.

If you’re looking for a low key friendly dive bar without any of the popularity and hype of some fancy new bar but don’t want to have to trek out to a far off neighborhood to find one, South 4th Bar is the perfect choice. Beer prices range from $ 3 Bud Lights to $ 6 craft beers and they have a number of great sounding signature cocktails as well. They don’t have food but welcome you to get food delivered. Between the electronic juke box, the photo booth, and the virtually endless options for board games, you can really enjoy a few drinks here with friends. This may not be a destination type of bar if you’re not in the area but it was exactly what I was looking for when I was in the neighborhood. They’ve been around for 9 years and really hope they stick around for at least another 9, bars like this are becoming hard to come by in the city.

I love South 4th Bar! I had an event there last weekend — a karaōke birthday fundraiser– and it was amazing. The staff was friendly, incredibly helpful, and fun. The manager, Eric, helped us configure the space well so that everyone was comfortable.(We had about 35 – 40 people at the height, and there were around 10 other people in the bar. We could easily have had another 15 – 20 people without it feeling too packed.) Nithya — who works with Kings of Karaōke and is also a bartender at South 4th — was the perfect host! The big screen and sound system they have worked well for our needs. The bartenders on duty were wonderful, and the drinks were tasty, strong, and pretty inexpensive. The space was clean and super cute — so much fun! Some of my friends have approached me to ask about scheduling their events there, too, and I’ve definitely recommended it. Love this place so much!

A friend and I brought our comedy show here for a few months; we performed in the bar’s back room. Had a great experience! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to bring a show, especially with low tech requirements. The ambiance is great, the managers and bartenders are super sweet, and the drinks are priced just right. It was a real nice place to call home while we did. Other perks: Amigo the dog. Coffee at all hours. Bringing food in from wherever. Board games. Jukebox. Clean bathroom. Go South 4th!

The karaōke guy was great — he played my songs out of order and added an extra in before closing for a $ 20 tip, BUT the bartender was a BITCH!!! She got mad when I poured and offered to pay for MYBEER when she was smoking outside. Whatever, I was trying to help!

I literally wandered in here in search of breakfast, as I was waiting for my laundry to dry across the street. Late morning, and there’s a few parties here. Since I knew they served coffee AND alcohol, I figured it was sort of a bar. Well, it is has a bar with complete alcohol shelves and taps, and is a coffee house with people sitting on their laptops. But… it’s a weird mix… So I sit at the bar, and the cute, very nice bartender asks me what I want to drink. I tell her a large cup of coffee and a menu, and she says… they don’t have food. So yeah, literally a bar and a coffehouse that sells coffee and alcohol only. I hear sometimes they have certain foods for particular occasions, but that’s about it. In any case, the vibe is cool, very relaxed(during the daytime anyway), cheap($ 2.25 for a large coffee, $ 6 – 7 for craft beer), and nice people. It’s a really cool place to just chill or get some work done. I wish I’d found it more than 5 days before I am leaving Williamsburg!

Went over the weekend for their chili cook off contest. Surprisingly there weren’t many of us there(about 40 or so people) considering the fact that the chili was free, and it was a cold winter day with snow on the ground. I actually didn’t taste any of the chills(no beef/pork for me) but my boyfriend did. I won’t bother rating that since it’s not like it’s available normally, but there was seven entries total and many of the people who actually entered worked for the company somehow. What I did enjoy was the free games — there’s a huge selection to choose from. We played truth or dare jenga(you know, when you pull a pice out without toppling the stack you have to do whatever someone wrote on the piece). Then we played chess with the cast of ‘The Simpsons’ as our pieces. It was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. There are 4 or 5 two person tables where people were working on their laptops(yes, even during the cili cook off), and a huge center table that held 11 of us, then there was a 4 person table in the back. The bathroom was clean, and the staff was friendly. I’d go to another one of their events in the future for sure, and if you’re interested in finding out about events like this one or participating in their chili contest next year(there were some good prizes like a juicer, bar tab, samuel adams swag, etc), be sure to follow their social media pages. Apparently, they have a Super Bowl event coming up.

First of all… Bartender looks like Phoebe from Friends– I wanna stay here all night already, lol! Stopped in here because we parked in front of it, and had to wait for our group we were meeting @ Pies & Thighs. Pretty cool dive bar. Asked for a Jack & Coke($ 7!!! Insanely cheap!!) Coke came out messed up out of the squirty thing– they threw our drinks out, figured things out, and gave us perfect drinks in a matter of 2 minutes. Cool vibe– although we happened to be here on a night they were hosting a memorial for a local bar owner of 20 years that recently passed. For beer drinkers– great selections on tap. For coffee drinkers– awesome menu including cappuccinos, lattes, hot cider, & chocolate. Definitely a go to place if your in the neighborhood. Board games, juke box & cheap drinks… sold!

One of the first bars I visited after moving to NY and it was so overwhelmingly welcoming. The type of dive bar worthy of experiencing and revisiting on a constant basis. I will always remember the good riddance of the staff that provided the best service. All humble and ready to provide advice for the newly welcomed out of towner. I recommend this bar so much for the tourist who want a hint of Brooklyn without feeling out of place. Will be back for the wine specials! I love how the Williamsburg bridge is a couple of blocks away. Great area for a bar!

Best happy hour deal ever. $ 5 beer + a shot is freakin amazing. When I went the beer was Miller Highlife and whatever house shot you wanted. Also had $ 5 hot toddys and house cocktails which is a good deal as well. This place is an excellent mix of a café and bar as, in addition to the alcohol, they have coffee and tons of seating in the back for having a seat to enjoy whatever beverage you are in the mood for. Went around 5pm on a Saturday and there were a few people at the bar seemingly having a great time. Another plus are all the games. Tons of games on the wall from trivial pursuit to scrabble to jenga to etc etc. I had a great time playing a little jenga and a few drinking card games while waiting for a reservation nearby. I would 100% go again and recommend for a fun/chill experience in the area.

Ran in here because it was cold out and I had some time to kill. Wasn’t in the mood for a beer, so I grabbed a cup of coffee. Good coffee, reasonably priced($ 1.75 for a small in a ceramic mug), and really friendly staff. I sat between a woman writing the next great American novel and a group of friends setting up a rousing game of Axis and Allies, so in terms of people watching, it couldn’t be beat. Unilocal informed me that South 4th has DIY bloody marys, which as a vegetarian, is a huge plus. Will definitely be back for a Worchester-free bloody mary, and maybe another cup or four of coffee.
