Did like this place when I went in for a few drinks. Nice interior and great list of beers. I actually went back yesterday, but this place is now CLOSED forever. Sucks.

Started coming here 2 years ago. Not only were the servers nice but that food is AMAZING. I literally wake up dreaming about their Meatloaf Plate. This place is reasonably priced and the atmosphere is great. Unfortunately, this wonderful institution is now closing and I could not be any sadder. My heart is truly broken over this Williamsburg landmark.

Ok so this is definitely one of my go to spots in Brooklyn when my boyfriend is craving cheap DELICIOUS steak. Since me and him are both huge carnivore’s we are always looking for places that serve good steak for reasonable price(25 $ and under) Normally we spend 30+. but here the steak is less the 15 $ and comes with 3 sides! The steak is expertly prepared and always the perfect temperature of medium rare. The sides are mash potatoes onions and green beans. We always opt for a double helping of potatoes instead of the beans and onions, but they are so generous they give us all of it! I am a big mash potatoe critic, and these are the best you can get since they are baked after they are mashed so it gives the top a golden brown crust that its great to bite into… Also they serve a GUINNESSBEEFSTEW, Shepard’s pie, not to mention a chicken pot pie!!! So this place is great for winter time dinners ;) And not to mention they have a top notch whiskey and scotch selection definitely try some of there flights! Oh and Laguvulin here is 16 $ a glass!!! Need I say more?

I was lucky enough to get a seat here for the USA vs. Belgium World Cup 2014 match. I was in town visiting my sister and needed a place to meet her after work, but still get to watch the game. Spike Hill had many TVs that were visible from just about everywhere throughout the bar. They also did a great job with the sound as every moment of the game was able to be heard — even over the noise of the restless American crowd that was gathering. The beer and whiskey selection was very good and the prices were reasonable. I didn’t have the food, but it all smelled very good. It was a shame the US lost, as this left a negative emotion in me when thinking about this bar. Luckily this had nothing to do with Spike Hill itself. I would definitely come back if I am in the area and looking for a drink.

When I started taking my daughter to brunch to have something to do, I looked up some spots on Urbanspoon. The place that I wanted to go had a line around the corner, but this place had some room. Nice, dark, cozy, and the food is insanely good. Get the Irish Breakfast – you will happily saunter out with a ridiculously full belly – and make sure to get the sangria!!!

This is my favorite place to see/hear live music in NYC. They get it right on so many levels. The shows are free(mostly); the stage is elevated and has a better feel than the stages where the band is basically on the ground; you can see the stage from the street(right by the busiest L train stops bedford/N7th); the live sound is really clear and better than most venues; there are no distracting televisions on the music side(there is one, by the door); there is a bar that is separate from the music side for people to hang out; the drinks are not crazy expensive; they have food; Some things they could do better: — get a mirror in the men’s room — have the engineer(or someone) pass around the tip bucket for each band — get rid of the tv on the music side — have someone work the lighting system for the music — carry a non-alcoholic beer — run ads in the local papers featuring the schedule of music

I resisted Spike Hill for years because of how fancy it looks from the outside. Fear not, friends. Turns out it’s one of the cheapest bars I’ve been to in all of NYC. $ 5 for any well drink! The interior looks awfully nice too. But other than that it’s just a bar. No frills. Bathroom experience was less than stellar: no paper, no soap, and no lights in one of the stalls. Understaffed, maybe?

Came here for some post-dinner drinks. There wasn’t really anything too special about the bar/restaurant area, but I did like that the booths had benches that reached pretty high up, so it seemed like you were in your own personal room, which is pretty conducive to private conversation. Ambiance in general has a neighborhood friendly bar vibe to it, and it’s pretty relaxing and comfortable. The beer selection is great, and prices are very good. $ 4 for Yuengling bottles all day, everyday, and $ 6 Dogfish Head 90 Minute. Pretty legit. I saw a lot of food come in and out, and even though we had already eaten, some of the dishes that were being carried around looked pretty darn good. Also, looking at the menu, the prices were very reasonable. Seemed like your normal pub fare, but at those prices you can’t go wrong. Service was very attentive and nice. I feel like most of the time, waitresses often forget to refill waters when you ask for it in addition to a beer, but our waitress made sure that our water glasses were always filled. It’s the little things. Overall, since it’s so close to the Bedford L stop, I’ll definitely have to stop by again, maybe for a meal or for one of the shows. It seems like the weekday shows are normally free, but the weekend shows are run around $ 10. Slowly, but surely, I’m expanding my bar and lounge repertoire in Williamsburg, and with places like Spike Hill, it seems that the future bodes well.

My favorite dish here hands down is the honey mustard chicken wings. The best honey mustard I have ever tasted! The wings taste so fresh and juicy. Another favorite has got to be the chicken tortilla soup. The chicken in the soup is very tender and the tortilla strips on top with the chipotle is amazing. Love the flavors in the soup as well as the fresh veggies.

Randomly stumbled on this place while waiting for a party to start at Brooklyn Brewery. I haven’t spent much time in Williamsburg, but this seemed like a reliable spot for good beer and a cheap burger. Our waitress(Zuzu, not sure how to spell it) was awesome and the menu exhibited solid bar food. I think if I lived over in the ‘burg I would frequent this place. Apparently this place has live music, but while we were there it seemed like a typical pub to me.

This place is not trendy but traditional in décor. What makes it trendy is the crowd and the bartenders. Specifically the window seating which allows you to people watch as the Williamsburg crowd meandors by. The cute asian bartender with an endless smile will also keep you coming back for more(I can’t imagine her having a bad day). With all of the trendy bars in the area I would consider this in the category of an «old reliable.» Guaranteed the same fun experience every time you go. DT

Good narrow bar in fun neighbor. We came for my friend’s friend’s music live show. I enjoyed their live and the beer was good too. We stayed after the friend’s live, and listened another band’s first part that was not our favorite especially because the band was group of 15 musicians standing tight on the small stage and music got just too loud to listen. The friend’s band only had 4 musicians and that was i think the limit for their stage whatever the music types are. Depends on the musicians the bar changes their atmosphere, so it’s hard to say if I like the bar itself or not just by visiting once. If I lived in this area I may come back for other shows. but their AC was too much to stay long pleasantly but otherwise this bar is relatively ease and friendly place for people who wants to stay long.

Went on a weekday afternoon when it wasn’t too crowded. Convenient location near the Bedford Avenue L train and the prices, considering this convenience, were fair. $ 4 Brooklyn Lager during happy hour is okay with me. Food looked appealing so if I come back, I’ll look into that!

Came here to see a friend play her music. I’d say it’s a pretty nice venue for indie bands. At the time that I came they had some nude entertainment/exhibit as soon as you get in the door, interesting. To get to the stage area, you need to pass by a narrow strip by the bar. It’s a small space but a great place to check out for their entertainment/music and maybe a drink or two.

Came here for the BK comedy festival. The place is very narrow and in my opinion kind of small but it definitely holds a ton of people. The show was so funny and really great. The comedians there worked really hard and if these are the types of shows they show here I will definitely come many more times.

I like this bar. For me it depends on what time of the day you go there though. I’ve gone at night and it was busy but not too busy, but the bartenders were kind of rude though, they kind of acted like it was busier then it was. On the other hand I’ve gone during the day and it has been great, everyone was friendly and I really enjoyed it. I feel like it depends on what bartender you get when you go there. I’d say check it out though, good music and the beer and drinks are reasonably priced.

Perfect layout for a bar and prices to match. A pint of Sam Summer, Maker’s & Ginger, and a Pinot Grigio will cost you $ 19. I’m good with that. Obviously you’d want a seat at the front window if at all possible. Didn’t use the restroom, so I cannot confirm the degradation that was so maturely captured by another Unilocaler(grow up). Bartenders are friendly and not emo’d out like other spots in the area; which is nice. When vacationing in Williamsburg again, this will be a point of reference. Pass on the taco truck…

A no-nonsense bar that serves a decent list of beer. The place is long and narrow and the best seat in the house has to be by the front looking out to Bedford Ave. There’s nothing like people watching in hipster-ville! While there’s no credit card minimum, there is a 2 drink minimum and that is very easy to fulfill. Located right across from the station, you won’t have trouble finding your way home.

Boy, I love me some CMJ. Had a chance to pop by Spike Hill during a showcase that featured all sorts of nifty up-and-comers, and one old dog by the name of Born Ruffians(so good!). But before this show, I had no idea the venue even existed… and I’m instantly a fan. The sound is pretty darn good, it’s really easy to get a drink, and the views of the stage are pretty fantastic no matter where you stand. Spike Hill — you’ll see me again!
