Came here on a Sunday morning. The food took a long time to come out and when it did it was just mediocre. I got the steak and eggs; smallest portion of steak I’ve ever seen. I thought the rest of the steak was hiding under the salad, but there wasn’t any. :/

Chicken and Waffle is another great choice to try for brunch. Nice and filling — comes with hot-hot sauce and maple syrup on the side. Not that cheap, but you won’t be disappointed.

Awful service. Too awful to even get a chance to try the food sadly. Came in for a quick bite bartender sat us. We were ready to order and just sat there for 10 minutes being the ONLY table sat. Open kitchen too so I saw there were no tickets on the rail. Came in late 1200 on Memorial Day, but if open till 2 I thought the server would be happy to seat us. The bartender ended up doing so and the server never even got to see us because his conversation was so intriguing. It’s kind of weird writing a bad review. But this one seemed warranted. Plenty of better destinations not to mention over priced.

This is a really sleek, elegant little cocktail bar which I was introduced to by a friend. A wonderful selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tasty appetizers, amiable but not overbearing service, and an inviting atmosphere all make this a great place to hold an after-work happy hour. Definitely somewhere you would enjoy if you happen to be in this part of Park Slope.

its best to come here at night time. Had the Buttermilk fried chicken, this seems to be good at first and it gets better every bite. From what I can see, the more you eat this chicken, the more you will like it. Bloody Mary is totally bloody awesome, It seem that its a perfect match for the fried chicken. We also noticed that Sidecar is very spacious and we like it.

This is one of our favorite brunch spots and we always enjoy both the food and the«usually» good service. Today is not one of those days. The waitress was super rude and slow, took her 7 whole minutes to enter our orders in the pos system. When she brought us the check without saying one word. Rude! Don’t think Sunday brunch is the day to have bad waitstaff.

This place has delicious food and they can make a pretty good jalapeño margarita. They’re also open really late. Having said all of that, it’s not cheap. But I doubt you’ll regret spending the money. Eat Gumbo, drink the jalapeño margarita or choose from a decent selection of beers.

Stopped in just for a quick beer last night; they had a good beer list(as everyone really needs to have these days) and it was nice and dark and they had big booths. It was a little awkward because the booths were table service but it was late and no one was eating and we just instinctively ordered from the bar. It was all nice, nothing special, but a place you could go and just get a few drinks and hang out in.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for over 3 years and finally stopped into Sidecar for the first time last night after seeing it on Diners, drive-ins, & dives. Now I’m absolutely kicking myself that I’ve missed out on AMAZING food all these years that’s right down the street! It’s always intimidating walking into a new place(especially when it’s packed) since you don’t know if it’s seat yourself or if there’s a hostess. We were greeted right away by the super friendly hostess. It’s refreshing that places still have genuinely friendly staff that actually enjoy being there(or they’re really good at faking it cause everyone was super nice). Draft beer was on point and the burger was definitely the best I’ve ever had in Park Slope! Fries were seasoned to perfection, meat was actually cooked to the temp I ordered(you’d be surprised how many people can’t cook a med rare burger!), and the toppings were super fresh. Do yourself a favor and jump on the opportunity to check this place out if you’re in the neighborhood. Don’t be like me and miss out on an awesome dining experience all these years! *cries*

They know how to make a memorable cocktail. Great food and the service was excellent. Wait to be seated because eating at the bar can be overcrowded.

A 2 person booth is always cute and romantic esp on a chilly winter night during Valentine’s Day weekend. Started with the French onion soup which was rather bland. Chicken liver mousse was pre-spread on 3 slices of bread, bread could’ve been just a touch softer. Beet salad(red and yellow) was carefully round sliced topped with almonds, citrus fruit and dressing-tasty! Special of the night was duck ravioli with a house made sauce — delish! Best part of the night was caramel bread pudding — warm with a pool of caramel with enough for each bite! Husband liked his apple strawberry cobbler. Can’t wait for brunch here!

This place was awesome! Our waiter(I truly can’t remember his name) was completely awesome. He was attentive and extremely helpful. I went with my best friend and we had appetizers, dinner, dessert, and of course drinks. Everything was amazing from beginning to end. I had the roasted duck and my friend had mofongo. My only complaint is that their menu is a little limited, not too many options. Otherwise everything else is great including the vibe.

I wasn’t particularly impressed with Sidecar. The service is great and the barkeeper was sociable(as most should be). My friends and I came here mainly for the drinks. Just from a glance at the drink menu, I wasn’t interested in any of their special cocktails. Instead, I decided to order a South African Syrah($ 12) and a french onion soup. The bartender poured a pitifully small glass of red wine. The french onion soup was good but also seemed overpriced at $ 11 per bowl. My experience here wasn’t anything special, and for Manhattan prices, I think I’ll stay in Manhattan.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area because I love the fried chicken and drinks, but I was appalled by how rude the hostess was. My friend and I walked in asking for a table for 3. Unfortunately, the third party of our group hadn’t arrived yet and a huge group of people just came in after us needing a spot, so they said they couldn’t seat us yet. Ok, fair enough, as there was only 1 table left, annoying but understandable. My friend and I proceeded to sit at the bar and order food and drinks. Later, when our third party member arrived, we asked the bartender if we could sit at the nearby open table and he said no problem so we moved all of our stuff over. The hostess rudely said we needed to close out before sitting there, but that since we already ordered food at the bar, we couldn’t sit there… WTF? The whole thing was so annoying. But what bothered me most was how unabashedly hostile she was about the whole situation — as if we should have known better. Wow, I genuinely wanted to talk to a manager about this. If the food and beverages weren’t so amazing, I probably wouldn’t return to be treated that way. Definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Best. Fried. Chicken. Around. Yes, I’ve been to all the other places in the area that tout their chicken… This is it. Went on a weekday night with a friend and started with the Brussels sprouts and fried oysters appetizers. Friendly staff and great French press coffee.

It’s a nice space, comfortable, looks good, menu reads really well, smiling approachable slightly-hipster staff, on the expensive side for bar food. Everything that leads me to think the food and drinks will be fabulous. But sadly they’re not. We tried three appetizers(brussels sprouts with apple n bacon, white bean dip with feta and err bacon, and chicken liver pâté on toast). And a couple of cocktails. And nothing was horrible, but nothing was worth returning for, which is a shame because(as I may have mentioned) it’s a nice space.

I took my boyfriend and cousin here for some dinner and didn’t have a good experience. Our waiter Jeremy was horrible. The bartender was drinking behind the bar and so was our waiter. I will not go there ever again. The food was good but not the service. They are lucky that we did not walk out without paying. Lousy service.

Mike, the bartender totally rocked. He suggested the Cuban and the fried chicken. Both were totally on point! Great atmosphere! The bar is very happening! Highly suggest if your in the area!

NOHAPPYHOURSPECIALS I was surprised that this place offered no happy hour discounts any day/time, especially for this area where happy hour is very common at all the bars. That being said, it’s not like the drinks are crazy expensive. Expect to pay between $ 6 – 8 for most beers on draft and a few dollars more for mixed drinks. The atmosphere is very upbeat, fun an the interior is very nice. I went here with a large group and ordered through the servers. I am not sure if they were new but they seemed flustered by the influx of people 10+ and had difficulty serving us in a timely manner. Probably took 15 minutes to get our drinks. This is partially due to the fact that they were bringing drinks out one at a time. I was cringing at how slow they were moving.

This place continues to be exceptional both from tastiness of food and from overall customer experience standpoints. What’s more, they’re very serious about their mixology here so come if you’re a cocktails aficionado.

Holy Bloody Mary that’s good. Pickled green beans? yum. even though it’s my «first Unilocal check-in» I’ve been coming to Sidecar since it opened years ago. I have had many good times at sidecar with cocktails, food and the staff over the years. Sidecar has infused vodkas and tequilas that are in some really good cocktails. Their Buttermilk Fried chicken with root mash and sauteed kale is amazeballs. Their burger and fries are on point. They have a cuban sandwich that is tasty but I always find a bit salty but i digress. Bonus time!, they serve food till 4am, so you can party it up somewhere else and end up here for some late night food or you can just chill and listen to their jukebox while sipping on some nice cocktails.

Probably one of the best fried chicken I ever had so far. However, our waiter service was not very pleasant. He was not helpful and impatient. Instead of telling us what’s on the menu, he told us to re-read the menu and when the waiter pass by with the food dish, look at it and see. The mussels were alright, nice and big, but the flavor wasn’t anything extraordinary where I would come back for especially the waiter were extremely not helpful or nor nice. The host were more helpful than he ever had, she bought us our check and checked up to refill our drinks. There’re so many yummy fried chickens out there; I can easily go elsewhere because nothing else would make me want to come back. — Buttermilk fried chicken was amazingly favorable and the crispy skin taste great not oily at all. — Sautéed Kale were definitely too sweet, however it perfectly cook, not overdone. — Root mash potatoes are creamy and has this divine taste that make it hard to forget. — Mussels are fresh and meaty, however the sauce in it were immensely salty. The services I experienced is what brought this place to a 1 star. I believe in good food and great service, I don’t need AWESOME or out of the way type of service. Just do the job right and everybody is happy. I don’t expect too much, just wanted to know the difference in plates or what’s to recommend.

Probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in NYC. At first I thought the place was trying to be posh, what with offering«mashed root vegetables» instead of potatoes so they could charge $ 20 for a meal. I was also expecting some small portions based on that. Boy was I wrong! Well, they may be posh, but the mashed root vegetables were delicious and the portions are generous. The friend chicken is crispy, juicy and insanely delicious. I couldn’t even finish it all and took some home for the next day’s lunch. The wait staff was friendly, they have a good selection of beers, and the place manages to be both classy and relaxed at the same time. It’s a little on the pricey side for pub food, but it’s super good.

After a text from my Sis a few months ago decision was made to try this Diners Drive-Ins & Dives featured joint. Unfortunately life managed to get in the way and we didn’t make it for several more weeks. But it was advantageous as we were celebrating anniversary, birthday and well, Saturday. When we finally walked in this past Saturday we realized it was worth the wait. I’m Guinness fanatic. Sidecar doesn’t have it on tap but has a stout that was an extremely decent substitute. I mean, come on… there’s no true sub for Guinness but this filled the bill nicely. For an appetizer I chose the«BLT Soup». I was not disappointed. Flavorful beef broth, plenty of bacon, sun-dried tomatoes… happy in a bowl. Entrée was difficult to decide on since there were so so many tasty sounding options. While everyone was raving about the buttermilk fried chicken I saw the magic words«Hangar Steak». Again, something I’m a sucker for. Flame-broiled medium rare(can you picture the joy on my face?) with perfectly done shoestring fries. A true meat & potato lovers dream. Dessert. What can I say, they had me at «bourbon». Three desserts on the menu. Two made with bourbon. Thank the stars there were four of us. We got two each of the two bourbon desserts. First was a caramel bourbon bread pudding which immediately made me think«Brunch. This needs to be made for brunch as french toast». The second bourbon dessert was a chocolate bourbon cake which was the fudgiest, densest, most delectable hunk of chocolate I’ve had in a long time. Only about a half an inch tall and a small slice at that, maybe a «three bite size» it was impossible to take more than a nibble at a time. But you can’t stop eating it. Fresh-made whipped cream topped it off. Coffee at Sidecar isn’t the norm. They serve a full-bodied roast made in a French Press. One pot makes about 12 ounces so based on the mugs they use that means two per pot. Warning for French Press novices, avoid the temptation to play and press too soon or too fast. The coffee must sit and steep for atleast 7 minutes and if you plunger too fast you’ll be wearing your coffee. Atmosphere was great. People out and about enjoying. Made some new friends for the night. None of us live nearby so we try to hit a different place each time we get together. If the opportunity comes in the future a return visit is probable. Until then, why don’t you go for us? You won’t be sorry!

If your midnight cravings don’t include diner food, but fried chicken, you’re in luck. My friend and I called and toured dozens of restaurants in Downtown Brooklyn and Park Slope to find the only kitchen opened at 2AM was a small, quiet bar on a fairly quiet block. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it; comfort food DOES exist in the wee hours of the morning. I was surprised to see a handful of people still at the bar, especially in this neighborhood, where most people take off before midnight. I got a BLT soup because I wanted something small. It was not terrible as it had a lot of veggies and bacon pieces, but it was also not great; the bruschetta slice was already halfway soaked in the soup by the time I got it – this is good to fill you up for a bit if you don’t want something big. We also got some Raw Oysters, and the best part was the delicious garlic dip! I’m not a big eater of oysters, but that always depends on the dips that make them tolerable. My friend ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Kale and Bacon and it’s an strange combo of high-fat and fiber, but oddly enough, they go well together. The drink menu is also worth checking out as they have a range of highly curated, fresh drinks that you won’t feel too guilty about. Southern fare seems to be their specialty – especially fried chicken – so I may be back if I’m in the mood for fried chicken in the after hours!

Didn’t try any of the food so can’t comment on that(although I must come back to try it!) but they have really cute outdoor seating. When I went, my group were the only ones there so it felt like a private backyard for us with cute lights strung up. I normally don’t drink cocktails but I tried some of the Whiskey Apple which was delicious and not overly strong.

Cute and very spacious place located in park slope. They weren’t many options on that block and so compared to what was left, we felt this was the best open selected. I ordered the steak and eggs on the brunch menu(and my friend ordered and appetizer dish, as she wasnt as hungry as me). My dish was pretty good, although the steak came out medium well, and not medium rare as requested. It was bit chewy for me, but the flavor was pretty good. My friend seemed to be satisfied with her drink. I ordered a margarita and felt that it was a bit watered down for me, but still consumable. I was slightly turned off by the black little specs in the drink, but didnt complain because i felt that i was still going to live after consumption. My friend ordered a manhattan, no complaints there. I thought, all in all, the place was ok. I wouldnt go out of my way to go there again, but i see myself returning, if i was in the area. in the hopes that it was just an off-day for them that day. The service was attentive and friendly.
