Came into Bozeman to visit Yellowstone. Since my friend lives in Bozeman and this is Ted Turner’s restaurant we tried it. Might have been my friend’s 2nd visit here. It was 9pm, but the greeter seated us and never told the waiter he had guests at his table. The table was messy with salad crumb and cheese droppings on the place mat! Finally, after we made the acknowledgment of no service, another server said the waiter was busy with some«stuff» and would be here soon!! Finally, the waiter came to us and said… we have had a busy tiring night, sorry! I despise excuses from service industries. I ordered the bison swiss mushroom burger, medium. A bit dry… and the waiter dropped my top bun on the floor before serving to me. Thank goodness I like open-faced burgers. No onion rings either, I guess our 9pm dinner was too much for Ted Turner’s staff. There are plenty of «real mom and pop» eateries in Bozeman. Just a heads up, go to them NOT Ted Turner’s Tavern Grill.

The service here is the weak link. You can sit at the bar to increase the odds but it’s not reasonable to have to request silverware and water. The food is decent and the portions are generous but there are better choices in town for the overall experience.

We two had a mostly lovely meal at Ted’s the night we arrived in Bozeman. Overall, our experience was a happy one, but it was a bit of a mixed bag. We were seated right away, and our server appeared immediately. He made us feel cared for all evening, and we really appreciated that. I had the bison pot roast, and it was delicious, with carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. My beloved companion, who likes his steaks well-done(he is otherwise a swell guy), ordered a steak and, despite being very clear about his wishes, it was served pink and bloody. Our waiter did his best to remedy the situation, but it was still an awkward five-ten minutes while we waited for his entrée to reappear. He did enjoy it, however. Our salads, with house-made ranch dressing, were great. No bread, though, sadly. The house-made pickles, served at every table, were a nice touch, but salty. Dessert was a slice of cheesecake with huckleberry purée that was extraordinary. I wish we had ordered a second slice. The waiter, full of good intentions, made a fresh pot of decaf for us, but then forgot to serve it. We reminded him, but by then we had finished our dessert. He was so apologetic that it was hard to stay annoyed at him. The biggest quibble we both had was that a man came in with three young boys – his sons, I imagine – who ranged in age from about 5 to 10. They all sat at the bar, which was a couple of yards from our table. The children acted up loudly, as young children do, but shouldn’t do in an adult dining establishment, and especially at the bar. Dad did nothing to quell the noisy behavior for quite a while, and the restaurant management did nothing that I could see to resolve it. I’m hoping that this is an isolated occurrence, and I’m giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. If I could give Ted’s 3 ½ stars, I would. I hope I’ll be able to add more stars in the future. The restaurant’s space is old and dripping with atmosphere. The food was great. Despite the slip-ups, we’ll give Ted’s another try next time we’re in Bozeman. Seriously – try the cheesecake.

Once again I need a chain saw to cut the prime rib let alone chew it. For years it was the best, firm, tender, succulent. This is three times in row it is dog food. Sorry. It’s either a change in chef or beef supplier. It has transitioned from always the best to now terrible. If it’s a grass fed product that would explain it. If it’s grain fed from Colorado as waiter offered then the supplier needs to be fired. Come on. We want our great prime rib again.

Amazing bison filet! So delicious and soft… Located in an old and good looking building, the atmosphere and the service of this restaurant were both very nice. The sides are also extremely good(I recommend the squash casserole). Perfect for a diner a bit classy.

Great food! My wife had the trout and I had the bison burger. SASHA our server was one of the best we’ve ever had in the world!

Service was not genuine. The food was way over priced for what it was. And half of the items on the menu were not available. We had a group of nine and no one was a big fan. It’s a bummer, because we were expecting more seeing the other reviews!

A group of six of us enjoyed a top-notch dinner at Ted’s tonight. Three of us ordered the Bison Filet, and we all loved it – it was so tender and truly did melt in the mouth. It could’ve been cut with a fork! Sides were also good, although my Parmesan crusted broccoli was not warm. Squash casserole was quite yummy… service was good, I received at least 5 iced tea refills. For dessert two of us shared the caramel apple crisp. Our waiter warned us that it would take 10 minutes to prepare. ITWASSOOOOOGOOD!!! And huge, too! It was big enough for three to eat Really great meal… will be back!

Ordered the bison burger with mushroom and Swiss cheese. It was really good! They give you pickles at the beginning and they pair perfectly with the burger. Service was quick and waiter Brennen was friendly. The only thing is that the table has this large light stand and large tray holding salt, pepper and sugar which pretty much took up half of my part of the table. Other than that, everything was good! Burger was cooked well but still juicy.

The place is in need of some improvement in its service. The food was just okay, nothing to rave about but then nothing to complain about either. It is nothing special when served and does not create the«that is a nice touch» kind of feel. The biggest issue was the service. I am a firm believer that quality servers are the pride in a restaurant and without them the restaurant is always suffering. It could have been an off night, but our server was quick to take the order for our first round of drinks(for a table of 8) but it was just too long for them to get to the table. There were several other frustrations during the service. Do not ask if we have everything, then not return with the items requested, one of them being a salt and pepper shaker!

SKIPTHISPLACE. We were served three out of four meals(«your salmon will be out in a minute). All three were already lukewarm when delivered. 10MINUTESLATER, we still hadn’t received the fourth meal. We sent the other three back and were assured that all four meals would be freshly repaired. 20MINUTES later, two of the meals returned were EXACTLYTHESAMEPLATES. No re-preparation, just now ice cold to the touch. The table next to us had similar problems, except that table had a gent at it who lost it at the server and manager. We did not pay, and received a signed note from the manager that offered another meal for four for no charge at a later date. We just could bring ourselves to chance it again and did not go back, nor will we ever. It’s a huge change in quality and service at a Bozeman restaurant that my son and I had a nice experience at just a year ago.

Wow. I was expecting so much more. We were in from Texas and hungry. We had meat loaf that was nothing to rave about and a burger that had gray meat, was cold, and was basically inedible. The only part of the meal that was decent– mashed potatoes. The waitress was rushing us out so I made no complaint and we obviously didn’t have dessert. :) The only thing I liked about this place was the location, environmentally friendly straws, and easy access street parking. The food, prices and service were all below average. Sorry, Ted.

Here’s the short of it: The service was bad and the food made us ill. Here’s the long of it: First time in Bozeman, last time at this restaurant. We went in on a Sunday afternoon, after lunch, but before dinner. The place was dead. There were probably 3 or 4 occupied tables. When the hostess greeted us, she started to take us into the bar area, but I stopped her and asked for a booth in the restaurant area. I could immediately tell she did not want to give us a booth by the annoyed look on her face. She then said«I don’t have any booths clean right now and I’m the only busser.» Then, as if that was a perfectly reasonable explanation for not giving us what we wanted, she proceeded to head toward a table in the bar area. I stopped her again and told her we didn’t mind waiting, as there was no one else waiting to be seated. Her annoyance was visible, but we got the booth. The husband ordered the naked bison burger with fries. I ordered the cranberry glazed chicken. We shared an order of the salt and pepper onion rings as an app. Onion rings were good, but the horseradish sauce was what made them. As we waited for our food, I overheard our waiter tell the table a few booths down from us that it would be another 11 minutes for the cranberry glazed chicken, but they told him they didn’t order that. He never came to tell me that my chicken would take longer. Finally, our food came and that was the last we saw of our waiter until the bill came. The thigh and leg part of my chicken was completely undercooked. The breast was cooked, but the skin was slimy. The mashed potatoes looked like a pile of slop and were very wet, for some reason. The broccoli tasted like they had used a brulee torch on them, but only the gas, no fire. I left 80% of my food on my plate. I would have sent it back if we’d seen our waiter again. The husband liked his burger, but his fries were completely doused with salt and were inedible. Before we got back to our hotel in gallatin gateway, the husband’s stomach was wrecked. We had to stop at CVS for pepto. We spent the evening in our room, both of us feeling very ill.

Went to teds on Labor Day. We needed to be in and out in a hour so we sat in the bar area. The décor defiantly could be updated. The short little curtains on the windows either need to go or need to be washed weekly. They are dust magnets. I liked the map of Montana as our place setting although I think it could use a little explaining to out of towners. We couldn’t find Bozeman on it at all. Also the floors really need to be refinished. The server seemed to have a fake ancient so it was kind of weird. We ordered the bison and beef steaks. Came with two sides. I had the garlic mash and broccoli and my husband had the sweet potatoes and onion rings. My husband loved his bison steak and I liked the beef steak over the bison steak. So I guess both are cook great it might have just been a perception thing on which one we tried first. I didn’t love my garlic mashed but he loved the sweet potato. The broccoli could have been cooked longer for my liking. The onion rings have a homemade batter and were really good. The server respected our time so we appreciated that. Overall we will definitely return as the pricing seemed good for the quality and service.

Review for 8÷22÷15. First of all great service at Ted’s. The waiter was awesome – attentive, friendly but not pushy. We sat at the left corner facing Main Street. I was able to observe the fashion of Downtown Bozeman(which I like to do when I’m waiting). Let’s just say very outdoorsy. The food was yum-yum-yummly-yum! I order the Knife-and-Fork Chili Cheese Bison Burger for the actual cost of $ 17(No tax! Yay!). Delicious medium-rare bison patty on toasty ciabatta bread, topped with bison chili secret sauce, tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos, pepper jack, cheddar and a scoop of sour cream. If you want it extra messy, ask for volcano of chili! Drowned that bison in chili! :p This is a great place to sit down, eat, and create great memories. Don’t order beef, order bison. Come on, the Ted’s sign is a bison! So come to Ted’s and eat all the bisons in Montana cause their delicious!

Wouldn’t it be my luck that I got plastic wrap cooked into my bison Delmonico steak. Sent it back and Mgr promised a replacement. Fab! Too bad I lost my appetite. My replacement steak was more than 1⁄3 fat and gristle. Luckily for my group they are their dinner while I was just starting mine. The mgr offered to comp dessert. Sweet. I don’t eat dessert. I think at least they should have comped my steak and drinks. No such luck. Mgr kinda got squirrely when I pulled out the Unilocal app on my phone. I’m disappointed. Very disappointed.

We had a fantastic experience at Ted’s. We sat on the back porch area. Our waiter had good beverage and dining advise. Everyone was exceedingly courteous and attentive. The food and drinks were outstanding. They forgot a side item we had ordered and we were comped dessert as a result. This was the best dinning experience we had on our recent vacation.

There is a lot to like about Ted’s. The atmosphere is nice — the place is nicely appointed, and our booth was comfortable and spacious. The smoked trout dip appetizer was excellent. The sides were quite good. Loaded baked potato, big onion rings, broccoli, and kale salad. The raspberry cheesecake for dessert was also excellent. What was a little disappointing was the meat. I had a medium rare bison Delmonico ribeye, and my wife had the beef filet. The ribeye was tasty and tender, but totally over salted. I tried a piece of the filet, and although I don’t think it was quite as salty as the ribeye, it was definitely also over salted. Aside from the liberal application of salt, the steaks were prepared nicely. However, they didn’t have the characteristic crispy outer char that you would expect from a nice steakhouse(as you can probably tell from the pictures). I would venture to guess that the steaks here are probably not cooked in high temperature broilers that you typically find in fine steakhouses. Overall, I give Ted’s 4 stars. The appetizer, sides, and desserts were all spot on. The steaks are good, not great. But then again, you’re not paying top steakhouse prices either. A filet here costs $ 30 as opposed to $ 50. The bill for appetizer, 2 steaks, dessert, and 2 glasses of wine came out to just under $ 100 before tip.

I see there are mixed reviews about this place. We had the same experience. What we liked: the ambiance, the onion rings with the horseradish sauce, and the HUGE pecan apple crisp desert. What took us by surprise: the pickled cucumber slices for pre-dinner snack? The time it took deliver the food. The difference in burger sizes — the chili supreme burger(touted as being the BIG deal) was actually smaller than the basic burger my daughter and I shared. The service — our waitress was nice enough. It was super busy when we first got there, so will give her the benefit of the doubt on service standards. She gave us a great recommendation on the desert!
