I was excited when passing thru Boerne that Dog and Pony grill allowed pets on their Patio. The view was amazing. The food and service were great. This will quickly become one of my favorite spots when traveling.

Best salad bar in Boerne… or maybe even San Antonio. Quality and fresh ingredients like artichoke hearts, beets, toasted almonds, feta… yum! The prices are a little bit higher than other burger places that serve frozen/fried food. But love that everything here is hand made. Even the fried cheese!(Best I ever had for that matter) And their homemade veggie burger is epic!

Started to come here when we moved to town 3yrs ago. It was awesome! Prices were amazing, food was great and portions to match. Over the past year and half prices have gone up, charged for every little thing. Portions and quality down. And the outdoor area is a sore sight. Definitely not a place for a family on a budget. So sad. I can’t brag on this place anymore like I used to.

Met friends here at their suggestion. This looks like a good place to meet with friends after the big game. In fact it appears to be named to honor the two local high school mascots. The menu is extensive for what I would call a burger joint. But it ain’t cheap. The majority of the items are fried. I opted for the Rueben sandwich. 8.50 without any sides. About the cheapest entrée on the menu. For an extra 4 $ you can combine fries and a drink. Seems just a bit steep, especially since the sandwich isn’t anything special. The rye bread isn’t grilled and pastrami is mostly tasteless and I couldn’t taste any kraut at all. The fries were nothing special, over cooked a bit and definitely come from frozen bag of them, on the grainy side and very dry. It has outdoor seating and places for the kids to run wild. Probably a good place for a family that isn’t on a budget.

I like the salad bar although on today’s visit there were a couple of duplicate selections which is kind of a rip off given you pay $ 11 for it. Otherwise the menu is burgers, sandwiches and a bounty of deep fried items. The prices are kind of high for bland food and a do it yourself style of dining. On this visit my companion paid $ 8.50 for a burger she mentioned being just ok and did not even come with fries. Very sad. Chances are there won’t be a return visit.

First Unilocal review. I really want to like this place. Dog and Pony is such a cute idea for the town’s two main school mascots and the food is very delicious.(Love the salad bar!!) It’s in Boerne, the vibe is fun and laid back, but the service and the prices are not great. $ 6+ for a Kids PB&J or $ 8+ for a small salad plate and a rude waitstaff and greeters(or those who can’t understand English) don’t make me excited to return. In fact, at my last visit I was sitting at the table while my kids played outdoors and someone came over and started cleaning the table off not once saying, «hello» or asking if I was done. Maybe I’ll come back but probably not by my choice.

Looks like a great place to meet with friends. Lots of outdoor seating and play areas. Otherwise a simple formula. Orders are taken as you come in with the menu on the wall. Its a typical menu with lots of fried items and few salads. We had the Buffalo burger and it was pretty tasty. I asked for medium-rare and they came very close. The bun was a nice soft egg-bread number. The fries were those odd coated jobs. Not bad if you like that kind of thing — but I always wonder what they are coated with. All and all pretty good and I would not mind stopping in again.

I had the Buffalo burger. It was awesome. The bacon jam is amazing that they put on the burger.

OMGesh have they gone down hill from the time they first opened! The cheese sticks weren’t at all like they were back then… The grilled chicken on my son’s sandwich was so burned he couldn’t even eat it… He said it tasted like it had leftover burned on stuff from the grill on it… I could smell it from across the table. They won’t stay in business much longer if they don’t step up their game!

The place was clean and they had pretty good burgers. The sweet potato waffle fries were awesome! Friendly atmosphere for family or couples.

Amazing juicy burgers. We had the charger burger and an eagle burger. AND A COLD beer. Burgers are a little pricy, but we’ll worth the money. So glad we stopped.

Fried Pickles were good. Front customer service needs a bit of training in dealing with customers. Catfish fillet was too thick and tasted like mud. Cheeseburger bland and undercooked. I agree with the other reviews, appears to be a frozen food establishment. Likely will not be back as the pickles weren’t good enough to balance out the negatives.

Pros: Great atmosphere, cold beer, multiple tvs make it nice to watch games, kids can run around outside. Cons: bland, overpriced frozen food. It’s not hard to prepare fried food from scratch. Workers in the kitchen area aren’t very informative as to where silverware is and when you ask they give you a deer in headlights look. I would only return for the beer and a football game. Not worth spending the money on their food.

Dog and Pony show, this place is disguised as a burger joint and sides but it’s actually a really good steakhouse. Had the ribeye it was juicy, tender, BIG. and sooooooo tasty… Great family place loud smokey and busy. Everything is homemade like the banana pudding in a jar, cupcakes, pies. They have a huge salad bar, and music on some nights. If you spend more at those high brow places with a piano and dark lights too bad for you. This place is my new huge steak and a beer place. Will same last to stars for my next visit.

Went in because I read that kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday nights. After I ordered, I was informed that they«don’t don’t do that anymore.» We paid $ 58 for 6 of us. Considering were kids, that’s crazy. More expensive than Red Robin, and at red robin, you don’t have to serve yourself. Play area looked nice, but was rickety, and infested with fire ants. Kids burgers were nasty hunks of leather. Monday happy hour said bottled beers were 2.50, but we were charged 3.75. There are better places to eat in Boerne, and we will go someplace else next time.

Amazing menu. Great service. Basketball court and playground out back for kiddos. My favorites are the pulled pork or mushroom swiss hamburger.

Manager at front counter was not very pleasant. I usually always tip even at places where there is no waiter. But did not leave him a tip because he was not friendly at all. I ordered a one trip salad bar and they gave me a tiny tiny plate… I understand it’s one trip and you can’t go back and get more, but how can you even put anything on that plate. They need to advertise it as one time trip«small plate». Not side by side one time trip and unlimited trip: makes it seem like plate is same size. This sounds crazy but to me was a big deal more so about how the manager was to me. Otherwise food is good

We walked in and weren’t greeted at all. The cashier didn’t say one word to us, we all just kind of stared at each other until I told him what I wanted off of the menu. This was my first time there, so I had no idea what to order and it felt really awkward so I just kind of ordered the first thing I saw that didn’t sound horrible, which was the mushroom-swiss burger. The wait for the food wasn’t long, but when we got our food ALL of the fries were cold, as if they had put the fries in the basket right as we ordered, then they just stayed there while they cooked the rest of the food. Actually, I’m almost positive that that’s what they did. The burger itself was alright, very little mushrooms and the burger patty itself wasn’t seasoned at all, not even with salt. Overall I felt as though there was little to no effort put into our dining experience there and although the food wasn’t terrible, I don’t think I’ll be going back. I will say, however, that the bathrooms were exceptionally clean and smelled really good, which is something I didn’t expect from a serve yourself, «burger joint» type of restaurant. I say skip the trip to Dog and Pony and drive five minutes further down to Longhorn. Longhorn Café puts this place to shame.

I really enjoyed this little joint. I was a great place! I was a little worried at first but I’m so glad we went here for dinner! Yum! I love how much room there is inside & outside there is a playground outside also for the kids. They offer a unlimited salad bar which is awesome. My husband ordered a peach margarita. Wow it was so good! Didn’t expect it to be that good! I ordered the O.M.G burger and added green chilies to it. It was super good and the fries are amazing! I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great burger and a nice family atmosphere :) I will be returning here for sure!

Pros: The restaurant is well-lit, cozy, and welcoming. The service is good, as is the food. Try the Colossal fries. Don’t miss the Bodacious burger. Cons: Waffle fries, both regular and sweet potato, were so-so. Wish the burgers came with romaine lettuce rather than shredded iceberg. Vegetarians: Please do try the handmade black bean patty on wheat bun. It is tasty and will be worth the visit. The Dog and Pony is a very comfortable, inviting restaurant. The outside looks like an old renovated house and the inside is all warm, welcoming wood. I was happy to enjoy my burger in such well-lit, colorful surroundings. We walked in and were quickly greeted, but we took a minute to look over the menu board and decide what we wanted to try. I ordered the Bodacious burger, which is basically a cheeseburger, with an order of Colossal fries. My girlfriend opted for the homemade black bean burger with the red-and-white(a combination of regular and sweet potato waffle fries) and a chocolate chip peanut butter cupcake. After ordering, we received our pager, found a booth and relaxed. We talked and watched the basketball game on one of several TVs. Our order took about 15 minutes and was worth it. The burgers at Dog and Pony are chargrilled and well seasoned; mine had cheese, lettuce, mayo, mustard, and pickles(I opted out of the onions). The patty was not dry and overcooked. The bun tasted freshly made and was wonderful; I don’t know whether the Dog and Pony bake their own or buy from a local bakery. My girlfriend’s black bean patty was also well seasoned and not overcooked or dry. Her patty came on a wheat bun and was very tasty as well. My Colossal fries were the highlight of the evening. I think they batter the fries before frying them, making them extra crispy. Unfortunately, my girlfriend’s waffle fries were so-so; they tasted like they were no made from scratch, but were frozen instead. I must point out, however, that she did think the cupcake was pretty good. All in all, the Dog and Pony Grill is a fun, welcoming place to eat. Consider that getting to the restaurant involves a 30 minute drive from NW San Antonio. While the burgers that we got were not among the best we have had in San Antonio, they were tasty and we definitely enjoyed ourselves.
