Shannon’s Five Star

I have been here 4 – 5 times now & have yet to have anything that wasn’t very good!
You walk into this place & it’s a big, open room but for some reason, it doesn’ feel that way, at least not to me.
Okay…the food! Here’s what I recommend.
1. Vegetable beef soup — tasty & hot
2. Club sammie — yeah, it’s a simple thing, but the do it well
3. Buffalo chicken salad — the chicken is quite spicy, I liked it!
4. The Horseshoe! — for those of you not familiar w/​this (as I wasn’t), here’s what a got. On the bottom was a couple pieces of white bread, this was topped by a large, thin crispy cooked beef patty, on top of that was chili, then a delicious cheese sauce… last but not least, a huge quantity of french fries. It was as disgustingly delicious as it sounds! I should mention that their fries are extra good.
5. Walleye — one of my visits was on a Friday & my hubby got the walleye & let me have a taste, nice amount of breading & not the least bit greasy.
And the service? First rate! Friendly waitresses who don’t let your coffee cup get empty. I frequently go here to get takeout for my parents as my dad is homebound & they always ask how he’s doing & send their greetings.
Hmm…why have I not been here for breakfast? ;)

Shannon’s is the best breakfast place in town!!! If I’m in the Blo/​No area I make sure I go to Shannon’s for breakfast. The service is always outstanding and the food is made to order and arrives at your table pipping hot and fast. The past few times we have gone, Brian has been our sever and he is personable and all around great!!! They even give us to go cups of our ice tea which is a nice touch!!! There’s a buffet too that many people seem to enjoy. We order off the menu and we are always 1000% satisfied with our food order. The hash browns are made fresh to order, the quality of their ingredients are great and cooked right. We usually split one pancake and it is dreamy. Their prices are very reasonable. We love Shannon’s and if I lived in Blo/​No I’d definitely be a regular!!! Check Shannon’s out you will enjoy the outstanding customer service, quality food, and reasonable prices!!!

Jessica was our waitress and she had outstanding service. The host also came by to fill up our coffee (which was never empty!) and was very polite as well. Great service, friendly staff, and solid meal! Really lives up to the 5 star name.

A staple of BloNo. Five Star in the name is very very ambitious, though.

First visit to Shannon’s and have to say, it’s not a five star… Seems to be a popular local favorite for a certain spectrum of the population, one I’ve not reached yet;)
The prices are very reasonable, two of us had the breakfast buffet for $ 21.00.
Given the price, I can’t really complain much, but I also can’t say it was anything spectacular. They had lots of food choices, but lacked real flavor. The service was good and my coffee kept full, but I was taken aback when the waitress approached me to warn me we were sitting next to «a homeless person who sometimes causes problems and if she did anything they would throw her out.» Everyone has the right to be served and treated with respect and dignity… the person was just fine, a little chatty, but likely lonely. It really made the experience uncomfortable. Certainly, had the waitress not said anything, I’d have been none the wiser. Just an okay experience.

We came here as a large group on an early Saturday morning. They had a breakfast buffet going for $ 8 which is a great deal but you can also order off the menu for plates less than $ 5. Overall pretty Inexpensive. My son got the Skillet and I got a
Ham and cheese omelet with hash browns. The food was good. The service was fast and friendly. Great place to go for breakfast.

I love their biscuit and gravy platter with a side of hashbrowns. I’d avoid the buffet as it sucks and the foods usually not ever freshly put up there after it’s started.

Only familiar with breakfast here and they do it well. Friendly fast service they keep your coffee cup full and the food comes out fast. Plenty of seating so don’t be scared if parking lot looks full. Causal atmosphere so don’t need to dress up.

My entire family loves Shannon’s breakfast. The kids love the pancakes & hot chocolate. They also love the buffet on weekends! I especially love the Walleye Special on Fridays. The waitresses are always extremely friendly. It is our go to breakfast location.

Friday is all you can eat walleye and it is great, not greasy, not overcooked, and good sized pieces of fish with potatoes and green beans all good stuff, staff is great and wait time is not bad. Also buffet on weekends is the best, not huge but well done on every level, the food gets 5 stars. The staff gets 5 ½ stars… this is a place to have a good tasting, good priced meal… and I am not a fish eater…

If I stuck to the breakfast skillet & coffee, I might have gone with 4 stars. The 3 extra bacon strips for $ 3 seemed expensive. The place is very dated.

Always a great meal at a good price. Many specials served everyday. You get your food quick and you feel comfortable in their simple atmosphere. Reason for the 4 star rating… the baked porkchop special was good but kind of thin. It was slightly oily but flavor was spot on. Service is a 10!

I was staying across the street in a motel and tried this place. This is not a judgment, just and observation… but the rest of the customers were so old I that I felt like a spring chicken. and I’m 47. The buffalo chicken sandwich and onion rings were recommended by the server and she was right! Very good. What my friends ordered however did not get a good rating by them. So, it’s a hit and miss restaurant that has a very blah interior.

Pancakes were incredible. Good service with an older crowd. Biscuits and gravy left some to be desired.

Not sure if the rest of you guys have tasted food before, but I assure food is far better and more edible than the crap that they’re serving here.
I ordered the breakfast skillet. As much as I’ve tried to repress the experience of eating this meal, I feel like I have to give fair warning to anyone else venturing here.
What’s interesting is the service. My hostess took my drinks order of coffee and water. My best friend got the same. Promptly our waitress was there. My waitress was nice and polite. She wanted to know what we wanted. What’s interesting is the time it took to cook our food. It took less than 2 minutes from second we ordered for the food to arrive. it’s suspect too. My food wasn’t fresh. Either that, or Shannon has discovered the secret to time travel. SCIENCE!
The toast seemed okay, but the bread was covered with fake butter. I don’t understand why you would use fake butter, but this is just the start. I don’t think that I have too big of a beef with the sausage gravy, but I wasn’t a fan either. The eggs were clearly not made from eggs. They eggs laid in an unnaturally thin flaky manner over some potatoes onions and green chilies. I wanted my eggs scrambled. These were not scrambled eggs. At the very best, they were the crappy school cafeteria egg paste. Strangely, I remember the school cafeteria’s eggs taste better.
I’m not sure why the green chilies were in my meal, but they didn’t compliment anything, and it tasted like crap. You know what’s a good amount of green chilies? WAY LESS THAN A HANDFUL, because I had a handful. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t spicy, it was pungent and unnatural. The potatoes and onions sucked. I’m not sure why they sucked, but they sucked.
My best friend complained about his omelet. Apparently, his eggs weren’t real either. The omelet had a mélange of crappy vegetables. Mushrooms, onions, and of course green chilies. I didn’t try it. He told me it sucked. In fact, he’s convinced that he’s never had worse food in his life. I think this maybe hyperbole, the place is probably top 10 worse places, but it’s not the worst.
You know what the best part of the meal was, the ketchup and tabasco sauce. You can’t screw up condiments. In fact, you want my recommendation, if you’re here, put some ketchup on your napkin, then eat the napkin. If you’re still hungry, try using your knife and fork to shave a little bit of the wood off the table. I’m pretty sure if you went to town, you could shave some wood pulp off. This might go well with ketchup, and is probably high in fiber. For desert, I recommend chair a la mode.
Wait, I’m being too harsh. The tap water wasn’t awful either. Kudos on your water.

Shannon’s hash browns with sausage and 2 eggs on top is the only dish I’ve ever ordered and I love it. I hear their lunch and dinner is good to but I’ve only come here for breakfast a dozen times or so. This is one of my families favorite stops for Sunday breakfast after church. You don’t really need reservations if you don’t mind waiting 10 minutes or so. My kids always order the breakfast buffet. It’s all good.

Love this place! Nice place to go in a small group or the whole family! I have had so many things here, and they have all been wonderful! I have never tried a new thing and thought, «Well that was ok/​so-​so/​terrible and I never want to order that again.» The chicken is perfect, very crispy. The walleye is fantastic! I recently tried the chicken fried steak, and it was wonderful. The different salads and sandwiches are stellar. I recommend the tenderloin sandwich, the fajita salad, and many other wonderful choices! Bottom line, this place has something for the whole family. Picky eaters and easy going folks! Everyone will find something they love here!

Best diner restaurant in BloNo.

An ok diner. Nothing standout. I’ve been here for both breakfast and lunch. Prices are right, service is good, food is average. Each day there is a blue plate special.
