Previously gave this 5 stars. New management has made cutbacks to quality. The chicken fried steak is not the quality it was, and not as tasty. The delicious thick doughy English Muffins have been replaced with low quality ones. The whole menu has changed with fewer choices and smaller portions. There are better options in Black Hawk.

Slow service and mediocre food for the price. The wait staff is pretty nice and attentive.

The hostess was so rude. We had 4 in our party, she didn’t even look at us when she came back to the host stand. Looked down the whole time & said«how many» we answered 4 and she walked in the restaurant to grab menus & just started walking to the table. Didn’t look at us to follow or give us any recognition. Once we got to the table, as she was walking away I think she told us our server was on the way. But then again, she wasn’t facing us. It left such a bad impression that we came downstairs to the Timberline Grill. Greeted here with a smile & a super friendly server. Spend the extra money to enjoy your dinner! We literally just left the establishment. Not sure who the hostess was. Female with long black/brown hair

I just wanted to say that me jack Daniels steak was amazing before I start this review. Our night started off with stokes who was obviously too cool from the start to use his birth name«Taylor». Few key points: I ordered a Pinot noir he came back with a beer stating they only had cab, merlot, Chardonnay, & white zin. I took the Chardonnay but was surprised with my Merlot LOL. Kept quiet Bc the kid had no idea what was going on. He forgot my friends beer twice, my A1 sauce twice, and my friend to go box twice. This place obviously has a hiring/training issue. The chilli was sent back because I was told it was gluten free but tasted like someone took a shit in the bowl. Other than that convenient location when yer staying at the ameristar but go to eat somewhere worth the money. Left 10% Bc that’s how shitty stokes on life was. Be ware people!

Decent New York strip although at $ 34 you think they would cook it as ordered. My med rare was more of a med well but I was hungry and it tasted good so I didn’t want to wait another 15 minutes for a new one. Just a quick in and out lunch while gambling. Nothing fancy. They seemed a bit under staffed for lunch and the staff we encountered could be trained a bit better and polished up some. All friendly but a tad rough around the edges with sloppy manners and dress.

I always stay at Ameristar when I head to Blackhawk. I have always enjoyed the food and service at Fireside kitchen. I went for a girls weekend and after telling my girlfriend how great this place was, of course we had the worst experience. By the time we made it there for dinner it was 830 on a Sunday night. I was excited that there would be no wait. However, we waited several minutes just to be seated. The waitress brought our menus and after about 5 minutes we ordered our appetizer –the fajita egg rolls. About 15 minutes later another waitress tried serving spinach dip to the table behind us. They stated that it was not their appetizer so she brought it to our table to try to serve it to us. We also told her that that was not what we had ordered. About 30 seconds later our waitress then tried again to serve us the spinach dip. We had to tell her again that we had ordered the fajita egg rolls. As she had not checked on our table in quite some time, I asked her to bring a carafe of water so we could serve ourselves. My girlfriend ordered a glass of wine as well. 15 minutes later she brought out the correct appetizer which was two tiny egg rolls which was a little disappointing for the price we paid. We asked her for appetizer plates and she said she would bring them right out. After waiting several minutes we decided to eat the egg rolls before they got cold.(We never did get tgose plates) And… I had to get up and get my own carafe of water. And the wine still had not been served. After waiting about another 25 minutes we finally waved down a manager to see if he could at least bring the wine we had ordered over 30 minutes prior. We are pretty easy-going and very friendly so we tried to make light of the situation. He stated he would be right out with the wine, and yet it was probably another 10 minutes before he arrived with the wine. Our food finally arrived(we had been there almost two hours at this point) and with the horrible service that we had received thus far, it was hard to eat any of our meal. It took another 10 minutes and lots of waving just to get our bill. While the manager did give us a small credit on our bill we never did receive an apology for the horrible service. What I thought would be a quick and delicious meal turned into the worst two and a half hours of waiting of my life. I have honestly never had that bad of service in my life. The waitress could have taken a few seconds to ask us if we needed anything, or even refilled our waters, especially for the amount of time we spent there, and the manager was almost as dismissive. The only thing great about the meal was that I was in good company. I am sad to say that will probably be my last visit.

My daughter and I ate here on her birthday 1÷20÷15. It was a wonderful experience. The Jack Daniel steaks were fabulous. Service was fantastic. We were very pleased to see they are open for dinner as the info here on Unilocal was incorrect/outdated at the time. Will go again when in Black Hawk.

Pleasantly surprised. The biscuits and gravy remind me of college breakfast at the Rotunda in WSU. These biscuits and gravy allowed me to gain my freshman 15. Very filling, with four biscuits in a huge plate of gravy. Décor is nice and cozy.

Customer service was great, but my eggs Benedict was terrible. I ended up sending it back and to remedy the situation they offered to cook something else and I asked for toast as I lost my appetite… The toast was cold with about a stick of butter on it and was flimsy. My husbands breakfast was pretty bad too, eggs drenched in margarin(who uses margarin to make eggs?!) and bacon was raw. The waffle he had was good though.

Most of my gambling action goes here, thus I rack up a decent amount of comp points. I’ve ate two meals here and both have been far from great and are typically pretty lousy. About two months ago, I had one of the worst Cuban sandwiches I’ve had in my life. The bread wasn’t toasted and the ingredients weren’t mixed well. There was no mustard on the top half of the sandwich and tons of mustard on the bottom. After this experience, I decided to use only the buffet, deil, and room service(only for breakfast, the room service menu is a condensed version of what’s available at the Fireside). Fast forward to two months later and I decided to give it another chance. This time I ordered a burger with pepperjack cheese. The menu states that sandwiches are served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. I declined the lettuce and tomato, figuring I’d get some onion and a pickle spear on the side. I was only half right. I got a few rings of red onion on the burger, but the bottom was covered in the«smokey burger sauce» and a bunch of chopped up pickles. This saturated the bottom part of the bun and made it inedible. The only highlight was the milkshake. Thank goodness the meal was free; I feel bad for people who actually drop money in here. Save that money and use it at another outlet – even the deli prepares better food then what goes on in here.

Meatloaf was bland as was the overcooked broccoli. The v wrong burger came out and it was no better than a whopper. Cute décor and good lighting. Other than that… Sad story for this joint.

Awesome restaurant in a great casino. Service was amazing and knowledgable. It was our first time up to Black Hawk and we did some searching and walking around. A friend recommended this place, and it is one of the nicer restaurants and casinos. They had plenty of options, but this is where we decided to go. Bryan made sure everything was good, which it was. We will definitely go back and will probably try to spend a weekend there. We didn’t try a steak or large entrée as it was lunchtime, but the food was great. Turkey club and philly cheese steak with coleslaw and French fries! Delicious.

The ameristar is first class gambling! Definitely made a good choice staying her for my best friends bachelor party celebration. The most expensive in Blackhawk but well worth it. The fireside café inside was a little lackluster in regards to the wait staff but I’m taking the good with the bad lol

The restaurant is extremely quiet even when busy. Most of the breakfast menu is great. Breakfast burrito is solid. Breakfast and coffee for 2 is around $ 30 before tip.

Had a wonderful breakfast at Fireside this morning. I tried the farmers skillet. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, my poached eggs were wonderful and the avocado was a perfect touch. Recommendation: Get a side of their Green Chile to spice it up a little! Service was great and food came out fast.

We ate here for both breakfast and dinner. Both meals were excellent. The burger was simple but tasty. My wife got the Cuban and thoroughly enjoyed it. We both got sides of fruit which were fresh and tasty. For breakfast, we both ordered the yogurt and granola parfait and split the short stack. The short stack is HUGE! The yogurt was delicious and a good portion — not too big. Also, they are very focused on service. We had a slight service issue and they went way beyond in making it right. Tl;dr: very good, appropriately priced food without the crowds of the Timberline and buffet. Give it a try!

Service: Meh Prices: Meh Quality: OK Why am I giving this a 3 star instead of a 2? For I really think I would eat here again if I has stayed over at Ameristar. So come here for hangover food, don’t expect and experience and/or service.

Came for dinner but ended up having breakfast. Highly recommend the carrot cake pancakes! A very original and taste bud tantalizing experience. The chicken fried steak and eggs were excellent as well. Service was slow, seemed like only 1 – 2 servers on duty and sadly that is why this review only got 3 stars. Food was excellent though so if you don’t mind the wait it’s worth a try.

Stay at Ameristar Black Hawk a few times a year, so we are always eating breakfast here. The food quality for breakfast is generally average at best. Today and yesterday we ordered the $ 8.99 fruit platter to go with breakfast. Yesterday, the strawberries were large and tasted great and the other fruit was acceptable, though the portion is small. Today, the strawberries were small and not ripe. The grapes were on the verge of becoming raisins. Bottom line is the quality control in the back kitchen certainly needs some attention.
