The only reason we come to Black Hawk! Fun, inventive menu and good food. Hope they get a liquor license someday.

Great place for a coffee and relaxing. The staff was very friendly when I walked in and patient with me as I looked over the menu — big selection of sammies but this is a coffee shop so I stayed focused. I had a cappuccino and it was very tasty. If you want a real coffee and want to avoid the casino noise — head north on 119 and right next to the post office is the coffee house.

Great menu selection and delicious food. Our group of four ordered the egg sandwiches, turkey and cranberry panini, breakfast burrito, and oatmeal. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Next time we are in Blackhawk, this will definitely be our go to spot for breakfast!

Great place to get away from the casinos. A bit of sanity and relaxation before the madness starts. Great food, coffee is incredible and the staff is welcoming. If you like to patronize well run establishments please come here. Stop rewarding mediocrity. This place rocks!!!

I’ve been here countless times while visiting Central City and Black Hawk. Their light breakfast and lunch is a great backdrop to their excellent coffee drinks. If you’re looking for a special café, try Mountain Mocha.

I think the thing to remember is that this is a solid coffee shop in a casino town. Compared to other coffee shops, it’s about average, hence the three stars. I think it’s gotten such good reviews because it stands out in a casino town. I ordered a drip coffee and a croissant sandwich. The service was on the slow side; my coffee took as long to make as the sandwich. 12 minutes for a simple coffee seems a bit much. The sandwich was okay, but nothing special. The coffee was good. Overall, I was disappointed. For 4.5 stars, it should have been better.

Wonderful locally owned coffee shop that also has great sandwiches, soups, breakfast items and loose leaf teas. The owners, Tiffany and Jeremy, always offer a friendly smile. A few tables inside and out to enjoy your tasty treats :)

We were riding by on the motorcycle and wanted something to eat without hitting the casinos. We saw this little place and have it a try. It was very cozy. I had the Cuban sandwich and my wife had a blt on a crossant. They were both very good. She also had the house mocha which she really liked. All in all it was a nice stop on a chilly day. We will definitely be back when we are riding by.

This was a quiet little place tucked into Casino town. My co-worker and I had a pulled pork grilled cheese which was amazingly delicious. The altitude puffed out all the bags of chips, which was funny for us. The pulled pork had a well-balanced smokey flavor. I believe the cheese was Gruyère. It was done up perfectly for me, I was quite surprised, given the location. They serve coffee there and roast their own beans. I had just had a cappuccino about 2 hours before so I didn’t order any coffee(I would later regret not getting a good coffee-drink while I could). The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The décor inside was rustic with art for purchase(some local, others not as local).

I love this place! Quiet, mellow, super cozy, and the staff is friendly. We had house-roasted coffee, croissant Sammy, and breakfast burrito with green chili. It was all legit, not over the top fancy, and exactly what we wanted. Food came out fast and hot. There are some really beautiful pictures for sale here, too. We’ll be back!

considering the location. its 5 stars in Denver would be 4 stars, but I go here every chance I get, and it provides real life atmosphere not Casino, food is eclectic and good, prices not bad, wifi is good, parking ample, never crowded when I was there

Everything great about mountain mocha café has been said already. The croissant Sammy was out of this world. The pumpkin spice latte was seasonally delicious and wonderful addition to the delightful ambience of this café.

Small town breakfast and lunch stop café with friendly staff and quick service. Amazing this place was small but conversations amongst patrons was not loud. I ordered the Croissant Sammy with ham and pepper jack an it was huge! Over seven inches across and quite a good deal. Local roasted coffee was flavorful and served piping hot. I give this quaint breakfast/brunch stop a solid five stars as a great place to eat.

I am a recent Midwest-transplant now living about 12mins North of «downtown Black Hawk». I must admit, we’ve become regulars to this great little coffee shop… Pete & Jess are fabulous and really make you feel like you’re right at home! I am not personally a coffee drinker, but my fiancé is. There are many days where he prefers the 25min R/T drive down to town JUST to get a coffee… it’s that good. They roast in-house, in small batches and have a great variety of coffees and teas(brewed loose leaf to order) from which to choose. I have often frequented Mountain Mocha for breakfast. They have the BEST breakfast burritos around, smothered in Green Chile YUM… beware, the large(16oz) is GIGANTIC! You better come hungry :) They have lots of great sandwich selections as well. Everything is made to order and they are always more than willing to accommodate«special orders»
They have a great bottled juice & snack selection, many items are very healthy /all-natural. They also support local artisans and have a fabulous array of items for sale on consignment! Everything from jewelry to bird houses to rustic wood bowls made from locally sourced beetle-kill wood. If you are ever driving through town, please make sure you stop in — you won’t be disappointed!
