I know that most people think of Blackhawk«the hill» as casinos, and a good Crab leg buffet, but I would suggest checking out Farraddays Steakhouse at the Isle. After checking in downstairs at the lobby at about 7pm the line for the buffet wrapped some ways around, probably not as busy as any other evening but with that many people in line and even more sitting down. your going to be rubbing elbows and scrouging for the good crab legs. Right across from this ‘mess’ would be Farraddays, the prices are super reasonable, higher than Texas Roadhouse but not as much as Elways. I ordered the Alaskan king crab legs, recommendation from the waiter, and my sig other ordered the Prime rib Oscar style(lump of crab) that came with sides(mashed, asparagus). I did order a house salad,(you can skip/not anything special) and a side to share(broccolini/very tasty). The Crab legs were precut and HUGE… so much meat. And I believe it was $ 31 for the plate. and $ 44 for the steak. Great price for a peaceful, delicious dinner. Thanks Farraddays!!!

I have been going here for years and never disappoints. If you like Filet Mignon, it is the best. Server was very knowledgeable about wines to pair with sea bass my friend had.

For the price, this place was not too great. The presentation of the food was nice but that was about it. The food was average. I had the salmon with a side of asparagus that was drenched in butter or something that looked like butter. I also had the pumpkin bisque and it was so salty or something was added to it that made my throat slightly burn after every spoon. However, I would like to say that the service was spectacular! This place isn’t bad but I don’t think I would really recommend it to anyone unless you don’t mind spending quite a bit on an okay meal.

A wonderful experience after a full day driving through Rocky Mountain National Park. I had the prime rib, which was cooked to perfection. The waiter was very attentive and refilled my drink on a regular basis, and never let it get empty. A big plus with me for restaurants!

This truly is a five-star restaurant in Black Hawk. Yes it’s going to cost you $ 300 to eat here, for a party of four, well worth it. The 3 inch filet was perfectly cooked. It melted in your mouth even the next day, leftover, cold out of the refrigerator. The DelMonaco is also a nice selection, and was perfectly cooked as well. My husband had a pasta dish, and the shrimp were huge, as were the scallops; again cooked to perfection, not at all rubbery. This is amazing considering our location and the Grade of seafood we are used to here. None of the entrées come with a side, but the sides are serving portions for two people. If there is one thing to be improved it’s certainly the bread served at the beginning of the meal. While it’s a nice selection of a couple of varieties of breads, they were hard. The saving grace on that is the dish of real butter served with the bread. The nice thing is that there is no dress code, even though it is a five-star restaurant, I guess because of its location inside the casino. Some people were in shorts and T-shirts…

Took my wife to Farraddays for her birthday. it used to be a really good steakhouse but, appears to be sliding now. We ordered the blue cheese wedge for a shared salad. It was quite good actually. First time I ever had a wedge. We ordered a 24 oz New York strip for two. We ordered it medium. The steak was THICK. My portion was cooked fine but, my wife’s portion was more rare. The steak was kind of bland with no real taste to it. Some spices would have probably helped. We shared a loaded baked potato. Not really hot, kind of warm. For the price you pay for the food I would expect much better food. I think Saltgrass steak house in Parker(our favorite) is much better and half the price. The service was pretty good. It could have been better, we had to search for the waiter a couple of times.

We’ve eaten here on two different occasions, both times were very good. Considering what you get, the prices are extremely reasonable. An equivalent meal in Denver would easily be 20/30% more. I had some perfectly prepared scallops the first time we went there. The second time, I enjoyed a very good steak(I don’t remember which cut). The only thing that I would have considered a miss was the salmon my husband got one time. It was in a teriyaki sauce, heavy-handed and uninspired. Still tasty, just what you would have expected from a casino. They have a good wine list and it’s priced well if you know what to look for. Reservations do seem to be needed if you want to be seated right away, even on light nights.

The second time we have eaten here and it did not disappoint in any way. The oyster appetizer was very good — fresh flavorful oysters. I had the porterhouse and it was truly superb. My wife had the scallops and reported them excellent. Service started out slow, but picked up nicely. Waiter(Lee) had no issues with making recommendations on the menu and he was right on. Overall a very good experience. I’m trying to be a bit more stingy with the 5 star reviews, but another visit of this quality would get them the fifth star.

Have had a good dinner here before. This last time was awful. Drinks ordered came back wrong. Had to ask for bread twice. Ordered wine to have with dinner and it never came. And lastly entrees were cold!!!

Steak cuts ok, however the«chef» over cooked both of ours. The side, maple corn tasted like day old buttery movie theatre popcorn. The bacon green beans tasted as if they were only doused in bacon grease. Minimal service for the labor overhead. Not a great value when you consider price. Rarely spent more for less.

A quiet high end steak house inside Isle Casino. The cooks are on display cooking your food. They have a nice wine selection and great daily specials. Large portions ala carte. If you’re looking for a romantic evening, this place cant be beat.

Restaurant was quiet with a nice ambience, and we were seated right away(make reservations to be sure though). We visited on a Monday evening also. Pricing was about as expected for a somewhat upscale dining experience. They have a fairly extensive wine list by the bottle, but not as much by the glass, but moderately priced so that one could afford a bottle(to share that is). I had the Filet Mignon with peppercorn sauce on the side medium rare and it was cooked to temp. The peppercorn sauce is a must, but get it on the side as not to mask the flavor of the steak, but rather to enhance it. My wife’s braised beef short ribs was slightly disappointing however, as the red wine sauce and mash potatoes were only luke warm, but the beef was very tender though. I would have blamed my steak on it, but like I said, I got it mid-rare. At any rate, the staff(especially Stephen our waiter) were very friendly and attentive, and accomodating, and even comped my wife’s meal. Despite the snafu, I would go back again. A nice little getaway from the casino craze!

I loved everything about this place! The service was excellent, the wine list had plenty of reasonable, yet quality, options the NY Strip I got had the perfect seared crust and it was cooked a perfect med rare. The mac and cheese, smashed potatoes, and au gratin potatoes were all delicious as far as the sides go. I would definitely return!

I decided to try Farraddays’ after hearing about how nice of a place it was for years. I had driven up to go gambling and wanted a nice Prime Rib dinner. I even called and made a reservation since it was the 5th of July, a Thursday, and it might have been busy. I will not be going back for several reasons. The service was slow even though they were not busy. The person that filled the water glass did not greet me or even speak to me. The water was served at room temperature from a two or three quart Carafe that had no ice in it. The man at the table next to me requested ice for his water which took awhile to show up. I did not ask for ice since as I planned to order Iced Tea. My Iced Tea was not refilled in a timely matter. A big pet peeve with me at restaurants. The chop chop salad had items so chopped up that they were smaller than the space between the tines of my salad fork. I also had to look for pieces of tomato. I dined alone and was treated differently than the couple that was seated at the table next to me. The tables were closer than what I expected in a nice restaurant. I sat at the booth tables which were just a small table next to the wall that had a long bench seat that covered 3 tables and a regular chair for the other person at a two person table. The bread was the only thing that I would say they do really well. I had the Prime Rib, ordered Medium Rare, and the overstuffed russet potatoes. The Prime Rib was cooked Medium and was stringy. I tried to get the dull steak knive to cut the strings but had a hard time doing so. I was disappointed with the taste and quality of the Prime Rib. The raw horseradish was good. The Overstuffed Russet potatoes were not served hot. Barely warm in fact. Not sure if that is normal for this place but I expected the potatoes to be hot enough to melt the shredded cheese that they had included on the potatoes. The two potatoes were served in a dish that almost looked like a long gravy boat. I did not mention anything to the Waiter about the quality of the Prime Rib as he had came by when I barley got one bite down to ask me how my Prime Rib was. I replied with«OK». I did not feel that he really cared to hear my reply as he seemed to be in a rush from the start due to me being by myself and him not expecting to get a large tip. My total for the salad, overstuffed potatoes, prime rib, and Iced Tea was $ 43.90 before a $ 2 players club discount. I tipped $ 8,just less than 20%, even though I did not feel he earned the tip due to how he treated me vs the couple next to me. The Waiter did not speak clearly and I had to ask twice for him to repeat himself. I wish I had read the reviews on Unilocal before I went which might have swayed my choice of going to Farraddays’. I had wanted to try Farraddays’ for over a year and now I have, but I will not be going back.

Let’s get this out of the way. Farraddays claims to be a ‘fine’ steakhouse. I hate to say it, but they have a long way to go. Bottom line is, if a restaurant labels itself as a steakhouse they should at least be able to get the timing right. We ordered their«tomahawk prime rib» medium-well which is 32 oz. I knew there might be a problem when it took nearly 45 minutes for it to cook. Sure enough, it came out WELL done, with the exception of about 10 percent of the steak which was sort of CLOSE to medium-well but not really. I mean the rest of it was absolutely annihilated. The waiter felt really bad, I even think he was a bit embarrassed, but it’s not his fault. I blame management and owners for not making sure the ‘steakhouse’ can actually cook steaks properly. The steak was also very dry and lacking any flavor or excitement. On the bright side, the steak was only 44 dollars and the potato that we ordered on the side($ 7) was delicious.

I have to say, I wasn’t excited going into dinner at Farradday’s based on previous reviews here. However, I was amazingly surprised! I had the house salad, filet minion with garlic mashed potatoes and finished it off with the cheesecake. I would say all of the food was purely divine. And if you looked at the prices on the menu after eating, you would have a heart attack, because it should’ve been easily twice the price of what we paid. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food and I wanted to try everything, it looked so good. The wait staff were attentive, but not overly obnoxious and were great at suggestions and wine pairings. For a casino in the mountains, whose demographic is elderly with very few taste buds, this meal was beyond my wildest dreams! I honestly can’t wait to head up the mountains again and have another amazing steak, but next time, I will also try the lobster bisque with truffles.

Wow! Must say I was blown away. This was our first time in Black Hawk. We’re not gamblers but were told by a friend about this place so we had to try it. We try and go out to a nice place once a month or so. We’ve lived in the Denver area for over 30 years and thought I have been to all the great restaurants. Well this just might be the best. When we arrived we were really surprised how nice the atmosphere was. Beautiful place, open kitchen and great wine displays. Our waiter came and asked us if we have ever been here before. We said no so he told us all his recommendations. GREAT waiter! We ordered Shrimp Tempura app(awesome) Filet and King Crab Legs(The crab was cut in half and no work at all. Never seen that.) The Filet was about as good as it gets. We had the Cheesecake for dessert. WOW! It was from Carnegie Deli in New York and never tasted anything like it before. Too bad this place isn’t in Denver but it is well worth the drive. Great personal friendly service and amazing food. 5 stars for sure!!!

This restaurant is the biggest rip-off! It charges you top notch steakhouse prices, but the food is more akin to the institutionalized food in grade schools and hospitals. The petite filet mignon stuffed with bleu cheese in a port sauce was passable, but the sides were awful. Like many steakhouses, the sides are extra(I think it was about $ 8 a side). The corn tasted like they took a can of corn, dumped into a saucepan and cooked it until the corn had patches of brown on it. Supposedly it had maple syrup in it, but I couldn’t taste it or any other flavorings(including salt), just that horrible canned corn flavor. Rather than spending $ 100 on a barely passable steak dinner for two at Farraddays’, I wish we had just spent $ 20 on the buffet. It would have been just as good.
