We made reservations for our group of 6 and beat the dinner rush. We all enjoyed our selections ranging from Chiraishi Deluxe, Salmon Sushi, Unagi Sushi, Uni Sushi, Assorted Sashimi, Saba, Chicken Karaage, and an Assortment of Tempura. We all got a salad with miso dressing that was so refreshing. Next we had a savory miso soup with tofu. Finally, we all got our entrée selections. We enjoyed the freshness of our seafood whether it was our raw seafood or cooked Saba and shrimp tempura. The chicken Karaage was crisp and juicy. We loved our assortment of seafood. Everything especially the salmon was of high quality, sushi grade freshness. The Uni was also so delicious. Some people either love Uni(sea urchin) or not, I love it. As we finished, they gave us some chocolate mints to give us a sweet ending to our meal. We left extremely satisfied and will return again soon. As we left, there was a line of hungry customers waiting out the door, eagerly anticipating the authentic and fascinating taste of, Toshi’s, Japanese cuisine.

got seared salmon sushi during the weekday lunch, I couldn’t find it on the menu, but they made it. Fabulous, big sections of salmon, lightly seared, on balls of rice. Miso was nice, tea was nice. They did bring the sushi out about 5 – 10 minutes later than my friends teriyaki lunches, so be prepared. Maybe order a round of appetizers?

Small Japanese restaurant that is in a strip mall. Have to say it’s pretty good. Service was good and the food was very fresh, which is ideal for a sushi place I must say. We got the ahi poki for appetizer and can’t go wrong with it it was awesome. Different from other places. Also got the sushi which were pretty big pieces. The upon was excellent. The price was on the expensive side if you get sushi, but it’s better quality than other places in the area.

Should be a 10 star rating for Unilocal,Toshi’s would take it. It’s a small, hole in the wall sort of vibe. The kind of restaurant you’d find by accident. I live in Los Angeles and travel across the US for work and I can honestly say that this is the best sushi I have ever had. The price is accurate for the quality that you get. I have tried many things but find myself getting the nigiri because of the freshness. The fish portion per piece is the correct ratio. I always leave this restaurant feeling fully satisfied. Thanks Toshi!

My family and i just moved to Beaverton near NW185th a couple months ago. We had been living in SE Portland for about a year and were really missing all the various great sushi places that were so close then so we started looking around online for something close by in our new neighborhood. I came across Toshi’s on Unilocal and thought we would give it a try even though i was a little wary of it being in that outdoor mall location. I was very surprised when the sushi was super fresh and the service was so great. Be prepared, it is VERY small, a hole in the wall practically. You will have to wait to be seated, it is crowded, but the servers are very nice and the sushi is fresh. I have also called in orders to go and they are usually ready in about 15 minutes. One thing that is not on the regular menu but is usually on their special menu board is the Spicy Toro Roll.(pretty much a fatty tuna roll) It is so good, practically melts in your mouth. So if you aren’t in too much of a hurry and want some fresh sushi stop by here! If you are in a hurry, call it in!

No. I’ve waited a few weeks to review this so it wouldn’t be as harsh as I wanted it to be originally. The server was friendly enough, so nothing against her, but the sushi was warm and made from leftover bits, the ramen was simply indedible and I was just happy for the Andes Mint with the check just to get the taste out of my mouth.

A total fan of their sushi, but not so much their ramen. Their fish, whether you order tuna, salmon, eel, white fish, etc, is absolutely delicious! Their spicy rolls are really good too and they have really good specials for lunch. I would definitely encourage you to try this place out for their sushi and other Japanese specialities. Definitely coming back and trying some other stuff. You know it’s good if you get 2 thumbs up from a real Japanese(my roommate, not me lol).

Great Ramen, always consistent, sushi is hand cut, not your normal conveyer belt joint! Attention to detail is amazing!

I like this place, uni is fresh! The special rice bowl they made for me is amazing! Update for this review, I ordered food to go tonight, they forgot the fried octopus which I already paid. They also forgot wassabi for my chirashi. Very disappointed. 5 stars to 3 stars.

I absolutely love this place. I love the vibe there, so quiet, peaceful and unique. Toshi makes my salmon don absolutely the best ever! Hands down the best sushi joint in Beaverton!

I wanted to love this place, but I just couldn’t! Part of the reason for this could be that I recently returned from Japan. We also arrived at 11:50 and had to wait for about 20 minutes. Then, it was flagging down our server to get our order placed, and we actually had to request it to go because it took so long. The sushi itself had too much mayo for my liking. If you have quality tuna for a spicy tuna roll, you shouldn’t need the mayo! I did like the green tea and cucumber salad.

You must eat here because… life is too short to eat mediocre sushi! Yes, you may have to wait, but all good things come to those who wait. You could go to a place where your sushi has been traveling around on a track for who knows how long or… You can come to Toshi and have some of the best sushi available this side of Tokyo. You decide: wait and watch as your sushi is crafted by a master or wonder why your sushi tastes like bait and may be old enough to vote.

Really wonderful! I ordered to go pretty close to closing time. food was ready to pick up fast. Got some nigiri pieces(my favorite is hamachi [yellowtail]) and a spicy tonkatsu ramen bowl. YUM!!! Fresh fish and the ramen as close to some of the best I’ve had as far as ramen goes. Very authentic. I think the noodles may have been fresh/hand rolled as well which is something I love to find at authentic places but not entirely sure here(see Toshi Ramen in Eugene, OR — hand rolled noodles everyday by Toshi himself!) Service was very friendly and fast, the ambiance seems to be what I would call authentic. The place had a great feel. I say go go go! I’d love to stay and be a regular here.

Finally found my go-to Japanese joint and luckily, it’s right by my place. So you can catch me here any night that I don’t have dinner at home. Haha! It’s a hole in the wall situated in a plaza on the corner of 185th& Baseline(same plaza as Sesame Donuts and Goodwill). The place itself is small, with only about 10 tables and 7 – 8 seats at the bar, you’re expected to wait here if you come on a busy night. I waited about 20ish mins on a Friday evening. They take your name and also take down your cell# if you choose to walk around the plaza while you wait. They also take reservations which I will take into consideration for next time. There’s also only 1 sushi chef here. But this spot has some of the freshest and reasonably priced sashimi and sushi that I’ve tried in the Portland/Beaverton area. And that alone will keep me coming back. Most places always run out of Toro but this joint had it so I was satisfied. I ordered the Sashimi & Tempura combo and my bf ordered the Chirashi bowl. I would definitely order what I got again, with a couple pieces of Toro Nigiri on the side :)

Food was absolutely phenomenal! I ordered the house special with pork katsu, sashimi, and tempura, and I have to say that it was the best sashimi I’ve had since moving to PDX. Tuna practically melted in my mouth, and the tako wasn’t chewy at all! It wasn’t the prettiest presentation, but texture and taste made up for it all :) Tempura was light and crunchy without being too oily or soggy. It took a while after my salad and miso soup were served to actually receive my order though :(I’m glad I arrived before the rush because it seemed like everyone had a reservation! It was a little awkward sitting at a table by myself with so many parties waiting, but I am sure they were used to the wait since they all seemed like local regulars. In summary, amazing food!!! But definitely get a reservation for next time: P

Mom and pop sushi bar. You can’t go wrong with the toro(not on the permanent menu but it’s always on the separate special sign listed on their wall). The albacore here is also amazing. This is one of those places that I usually opt for the fish and not the crazy rolls. The freshness of the fish here really speaks for itself. A bit of a wait for the sushi orders since it’s usually just one guy behind the bar, so I’d highly suggest starting off with the iidako(fried baby octopus) and a nice cold Asahi beer.
