Not too impressed with the bartender«she was rudely yelling“mira, Mira. Mira: at the top of her lungs, while flirting not casually with a client! That threw me off at first#.after my son and husband asked me to look beyond thr bartender’s stupidness, i ordered a drink and it was way too much alcohol –instead of asking me if I wanted another drink on the house — the waitress said«next time tell me take it on the light side» yeah right . To be fair though, the food was good. They have Chinese as well as Japanese food and that is very tasty. Not sure if is go back #!

I’m not from bay shore, was just here for school, but this was my favorite take out place period. Everything I’ve ever ordered was amazing and fresh including the sushi. My staples were the chicken fried rice, shrimp and broccoli, and beef and shrimp udon noodles. I’m sad I discovered the udon noodles my last few weeks in Bay shore. Overall awesome take out place, good food and big portions, fast service, and reasonable pricing.

Horrible! We knew something had to be wrong when a restaurant on a Saturday night around 7:30pm was empty. We are in the month of May and they still had Christmas decorations up & a small Christmas tree by the front window. Tacky! Peninsula restaurant is dirty, the booth we were sitting in had crumbs and crusted food on the seats, we had to ask them to clean it before sitting, the bathrooms are also dirty. The food was tasteless, I had the Salmon and it was so dry, the Beef Negimaki was very chewy, could not eat it, the ribs also too chewy. We went with 8 other people and none of them were happy with the food. One of my friends became sick the next day with food poisoning after eating the sushi rolls. Stay away!!!

Not sure what people are going on about, we went here with a large group for their Chinese New Year celebration and it was a great time. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong. They definitely have their own take on several traditional dishes but all were tasty. The sushi was fresh. not sure what else to say! We will be going back.

The food is good, but the service is horrific. My wife and I haven’t been to the restaurant, so I cant comment on that part of the business, but we got food delivered from this restaurant four times. The last three times was the reason for this post. It took two hours to get our food each time, after we were informed it would only be 45 minutes to an hour. We had to call to find out where the food was each time and each time they said they were busy. This last time was our final time ordering from there. It was Valentine’s Day so my wife and I knew that it would be busy so we decided to order at 5:15 and figured we would get the food by 7(that fact alone is disturbing). Once 6:30 rolled around we decided to call to find out where the food was. They never even processed the order! First, they could not find it, then when they did, they said that they could rush it for us. When I asked how long it would be they said 45 minutes, which I knew meant 2 more hours. I had to cancel my order and order from somewhere else at 6:45 on Valentine’s Day. Needless to say we didn’t eat until 8 and I had to go out in the freezing weather to pick it up. The least they could have done was give me my meal for free or get it here in 20 minutes. Once again, I complained to them and I received their standard answer, «we are very busy.» They won’t be busy for very longer if they continue with this type of service.

Tried the«new» Peninsula tonight for take out and was very pleasantly surprised. I was not a big fan of the old restaurants food, but our order tonight was very good. I got the Thai Red Curry Shrimp and my wife had the Beef and Broccoli combo. The shrimp were large, sauce spicy and tasty with plenty of vegetables. My wife started with a nice Sweet and Sour soup and egg roll, both of which were very good. The portions were good, and the online ordering couldn’t be any easier. Although I picked up, I could have had it delivered for free(orders over $ 10). Overall a very positive experience, we will be back to try other dishes and perhaps dine in. Great addition to Bay Shore dining!

We came to Peninsula to celebrate my grandmother’s retirement. It was a special night for my family and we wanted to have a nice meal together. We decided on Peninsula because of the romantic and intimate décor with food options that met all of my family’s tastes. Things started out well with our meal. Our appetizers came out early and were delicious. The edamame was not the best in my opinion. They were simply steamed and had no salt so I wish they sprinkled some sea salt on them. This is preference though so I don’t fault Peninsula for this. What I do fault Peninsula for is that they served my grandmother’s meal 5 minutes before the rest of the table. She was disappointed because her fried rice was served cold. Everything came out staggered, but there were only five of us at the table and the restaurant was at about a quarter of capacity. I got the Angry Dragon roll, which I really enjoyed except the seaweed wrap was very chewy so you had to eat the sushi with one bite, so it’s quite the mouthful. My cousin ordered a second Shirley Temple about halfway through our meal and it was never served to her. At the end of the meal, we were excited for dessert so we got fried ice cream. I ordered fried green tea ice cream. When my dessert came, it tasted different than I remembered and I was confused because there were nuts in the ice cream. As it turned out, they accidentally made me pistachio fried ice cream. Lucky for me I do not have a nut allergy(though my uncle has a severe nut allergy and if he were with us, this mistake would’ve been bad news bears). I told our server the mistake and he fixed it right away. The last thing that happened was that my aunt paid for our meal on her card to treat my grandmother and when our server returned with the check for my aunt to sign, they gave it to my grandmother. It was a lack of attention to detail. The presentation of our food was nice and I liked the funky glass the Shirley Temple’s came in. The wait staff was friendly and the décor of the restaurant makes for an enjoyable evening. With just a little more attention to detail, Peninsula could really level up.

This place was my favorite. I’m so disappointed, over the last year it has slipped. Over priced and bland.

I went for lunch today because an office mate had told me it is under new management. The décor and the furniture were the same. What is new is the menu They have about 12 different sauces to go with beef, shrimp, chicken or pork. I got the beef and broccoli. It was ok. The wonton soup came in a big bowl. The eggroll was a tad greasy The service was excellent I forgot to mention that there is the lunch special $ 7.95 choice of app and entrée

Returned again after a not-so –good experience and I’m pleased to say that it was much better. Spicy crunchy salmon roll– very tasty. Crunchy? Not so much. Salmon sushi was delicious. Pork dumplings– delicious. But I wish they would stop serving those creep store bought«Mee Tu» chinese noodles!!!

Love this place for Chinese food. The servers are SONICE. The food is delicious. The place is pretty. Can’t say a bad thing. Absolutely LOVE the duck with fried rice dish. The duck was cooked perfectly! I’ve also had the scallops in a curry sauce — DELISH, as well as the Singapore noodles with shrimp. YUM. My granddaughter devoured the shu mai before I could even have a taste! Great place.

What use to be the best Chinese restaurant on Long Island no longer is. No Pu Pu platter No A/C The duck sauce is BBQ flavored with spice No ice in the water. Even the tea is different. Egg rolls are the size of spring rolls Ok so the main dishes come. What did they forget to give us. PLATES The fork was bigger than the plate. This was my favorite place but since it’s under new management and things have changes so drastically. I’m done. I would give 0 stars but it’s not an option.

This place was dirty. There were stains on the napkins, dried food stuck on the silverware(see photo) as well as the tea cups and plates. Upon seeing all of this I really wanted to leave. It was very un-settling knowing I was going to eat raw fish. The Chinese noodles that were complimentary were going stale. They were actually already in bowls and sitting on a cart, ready to serve, obviously sitting out in the open for long periods of time. I didn’t get sick which is a good sign, but I will not be returning. Being a waitress myself and re-setting tables, I would NEVER put dirty silverware, or dirty plates/napkins on a table. It is very hard not to notice that. This place is huge. Service wasn’t anything to write home about. The only nice thing was the big windows.

Had an impromptu lunch with my sister whom I had taken to her doctors office next door when we saw this gem. She ordered the sushi lunch & I ordered the Sandwich Tempura Roll. I didn’t realize it was cooked. I don’t normally like my sushi cooked but this was exceptional. We both also ordered 2pcs of Ikura sushi. It was fresh and the little pops of salmon saline were the perfect accompaniment to our meals. Definitely will be going back.

Took the whole family out in celebration of mom’s birthday. Ordered their assorted sushi rolls and signature Chinese dishes. Freshness, texture, presentation and flavor are satisfactory and almost above and beyond expectations. Freshness of their rolls are NYC quality but their chief is more generous with size and density which are worth highlighting. The signature fish and chicken dishes recommended by the owner are atypical of American Chinese cooking style we are used to on Long Island. They have got an authentic Chinese twist which is rich and flavorful yet not too sweet. Most surprisingly of all, the pricing is very reasonable — a family of 4 could down a top-notch seafood dinner within $ 120, unmatched by NYC or Long Island standard. Also worth mentioning are the interior decoration and layout — absolutely eye opening! Should definitely explore this hidden gem for yourself. I also spoke to the owner about hosting our company Christmas party here this year because it can facilitate up to 150 people with ease. Final verdict — combination of the food quality, pricing, atmosphere and capacity make this place an appeal impossible to be overlooked in the Bay Shore and Fire Island region.

Reasonably priced and soooo good! Went in for a lunch special general tso’s chicken. Fresh white meat chicken and crispy! Hot and sour soup was not bad, it was definitely a hot bowl of soup which is always good. My only request would be a little less sauce on the chicken. All in all, definitely a new favorite Chinese restaurant!

Bay Shore’s hidden gem! After having not gone here in some time, it was a last minute decision to have one of my many birthday dinners here last night with my hubs and bestie! SCORE!!! Gotta love walking in over the koi pond bridge! We basically had the place to ourselves, and we took our time ordering the overally strong specialty drinks, and appetizers and were in love with everything we ordered! Since this is both a Japanese and a Chinese place, Hubs and Bestie ordered some sushi and I got my usual favorite, General Tao’s Chicken, and it was just as good as I remembered! Sit at one of the tables by the koi pond, in the comfy chairs with pillows and forget were you are for a while. OH… one more thing, if you’re still paying attention then good for you… It’s a BYOB place as well, $ 10 corkage fee, which overall isn’t too shabby!!! Can’t wait to go back!

I used to come to Peninsula several times a year and it always was a fine, well run establishment. Last year the restaurant was sold. The ambiance is still nice but not quite as well maintained as with the old owners. Same with the food. The wontons were mostly noodle. The soup was ordinary. The spare ribs were tender but bland. The beef teriyaki was flavorless and a bit tough. The pork fried rice was dry. Nothing was bad, it was just boring and something you’d expect from a frozen dinner. We came for lunch at 12:45 and we were the only ones in the restaurant. After that experience, now I know why.

Beautiful restaurant, beautiful people. The staff were very patient with our four hour lunch catching up with childhood friends.(Okay, it was three and I am sure they wanted to kick us out of there!-lol) I don’t do Sushi but I did have the Avocado Veggie Rolls, Edamame, and a Spring Roll. It was all good. My friends said all that they ordered was very good too. The place itself is very pretty to the eye. It has a fish tank, Koi pond, horse statue, very aesthetically pleasing. Nothing I tried was to die for as far as food goes but I ate simple and not varied. Check it out and see what you think. Sorry, I can’t help Sushi aficionados.

From the day it opened I’ve had nothing but disappointments at Peninsula. It’s a beautiful restaurant with both Chinese and Japanese menus — something for everyone. The problem has been that both food and service have been sub par. Prices are very high. Several visits convinced me that the only way to win was not to play. I stopped going. And so, when I heard that Peninsula had new ownership, I was delighted. Well, that delight was very short lived. Tonight I returned to the«new» Peninsula with very high expectations. This is what I got. A nice hello and a nice table by the front window. A friendly waiter took an order from the next table and then came over and took ours. Forty-five minutes later the other people started to complain.(I would have complained too but the waiter never came close to us.) Shortly thereafter my appetizer was delivered but not my wife’s. We asked about her starter and the server scratched his head. A few minutes later it was brought to the table. Two minutes later another server brings out our main courses — we had barely started to eat our first course. I asked the server to bring them back to the kitchen to keep warm for us and he refused. So we started eating everything on the table. How was the food you ask? Well, all four dishes tasted good. Three were delivered as ordered and one was not as ordered. The problem was that both of our appetizers were served lukewarm and the main courses were actually cold. Does that sound good to you? It’s not to me. During this entire time our waiter never returned to our table. We finally found him to ask for the check and I was wasn’t shy. Did we do something to offend him or cause him to give us such bad service? He meekly apologized blaming both the kitchen and the crowded room. We paid the bill and left. A point of interest — the people at the next table who complained about how long it was taking to get served — they returned their meals to the kitchen.
