Best Mac N Cheese in town and the Burgers and salads are really good as well. Service is so good and friendly. Had a really nice deck next to the river for sunny days and always has 90 schilling on tap. What else could you ever need?

Walked in and sat at the bar for five minutes… The bartender never acknowledged our presence and simply walked away… We returned the favor and walked out. Understand this, Basalt @ 8, so yeah it wasn’t busy. To be fair we were unable to try their food but judging on the place, it’s not a very good option.

Food was grate, the view was fantastic, and service was amazing. Dessert was dreadful, I ordered the tiramisu. There was so much cinnamon on top of the cake that it made me choke. I like that they are trying new things but it was not good. The best thing we had here was the calamari, delicious! The presentation of it was not the greatest compared to the other dishes we ordered. We were satisfied with what we got there except for dessert.

This was recommended as a great place to refuel after backpacking in the Maroon Bells. Great atmosphere(as everyone mentions) with the outside deck overlooking the river. Great little sliders! You can mix and match.

Atmosphere and awesome location. Frying Pan River is running by the bar and outside seating is even closer to the water. We’re here on a sunny Oct day sitting outside in the sun by the river. Just got our veggie burger and it’s awesome. Enjoying Colorado beer and watching kayaks go by. Prices are so cheap that waiting for Happy Hour wasn’t a deterrent from enjoying this great bar. We drove up from Aspen to return to a bar we enjoyed a year ago. Off season is great in ski country, bars and restaurants are serving the same but there is no traffic, crowds or waiting. We come during ski season also but off season is such a change we really enjoyed it.

Our daughter and her husband had their wedding reception at the Riverside Grill in Basalt, Co last Saturday. We want everyone to know what an awesome time we all had! The owner, Martin Oswald who was also cheffing that night, was so accommodating throughout the entire planning process, and we thank him so much. The food was wonderful and served by such an excellent staff. The new manager, Pascal Burnam, showed us all why he had been promoted to his position. He handled everything flawlessly and we could not have been more pleased! Thank you all for a forever memorable experience.

This review isn’t for the food – it’s for the ambiance and the drinks. We had driven down valley to do a little sightseeing, and stopped for mid-afternoon drinks. We were treated to some of the best Bloody Mary’s and Salty Dogs we’ve ever tasted in an absolutely magnificent setting. Our table sat not more than about six feet from the river, and from our seats we could enjoy either full sun or shade, the sound of the water passing by(it was more like the proverbial babbling brook in late September, but during the spring thaw or early in Summer, I’d bet it’s more like a roar), and see fish in the clear water – some appearing to be over a foot long. This is a place to spend a long lunch(or dinner) hour, just relishing nature in all its glory.

Ok — traveling alone, LOVED this place. Very friendly staff — Sunday bartender David was a delight. And lest we overlook the kale, strawberry salad? I feel quite at home here and will return again FOSHO!

After a tour of Maroon Bells, we stopped by for appetisers and drinks. . recommended by a friend. Sitting on the deck, with the river flowing by, warmed by the sun, it definitely a treat. The calamari, delicious, lightly breaded and fried with a delicious dipping sauce. The pork pot stickers with the peanut dipping sauce. . really good.

My only complaint was the sign said«please wait to be seated» but after a few minutes of waiting to be seated, ZERO servers even acknowledged us so we sat ourselves. Bottom line, great location on the river, live music was awesome, and a thumbs up on the ELKMEATLOAF, truffle fries, calamari and quinoa chicken salad. All for a fair price.

We waited to be seated for three to five minutes when eventually who we think was a bar back said«hey it’s dealers choice today.» So we requested a booth. The server who was clearly working our section walked past us three times, averted her eyes, never asked if we needed anything. The guy from the bar, after about 10 minutes, came over and asked if we’d been helped yet and said he’d do it himself. He said the servers were extremely busy. Which was ridiculous, we never saw any servers except the one who was doing everything in her power not to help anyone. We got our food which was fine, nothing great. Hubs’ burger was missing ingredients we requested and were charged for. We never got ketchup or condiments on our table, were never asked if we wanted them, and never even saw anyone we could ask for them. It got to the point where our poor bar back friend was simply grabbing food from the kitchen and wandering aimlessly with plates of food, calling out to everyone and no one at the same time what dish he was carrying. It was a completely horrible experience. We will never come back, you shouldn’t either.

We had lunch here and the food was very fresh and delicious. I had the grilled trout that came with crisp steamed vegetables and a very yummy kale and quinoa salad. My husband had the french dip panini that he said was great. Our waitress was very friendly and service was quick. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the river which made everything better.

Food was sooooo great. I had the strawberry and kale salad. Very fresh & such a great meal out on the back deck by the river. My son had the mahi mahi sandwich and it was fantastic. The server was a little aloof but… all in all it was a fantastic place to have lunch!

We stopped in Basalt, CO, for a late afternoon burger & fries, and the first place we entered had already closed for the day. But a patron suggested the Riverside Grill and gave directions(go to the clock«tower» and turn right). And we were thankful! Not only were burgers cooked exactly to order, but outdoor dining along the Fryingpan River made for a delightful setting. Even in mid-afternoon(3ish), the the outdoor dining area was full — testimony to the restaurant’s popularity. So we ordered an appetizer of sweet potato fries while awaiting the burgers. Being Sunday after the 4th of July as well as with a large group being served nearby, service was a bit slow, but the chef(Martin) arrived to support his bustling staff, and promptly got our appetizer for us. The sweet potato fries, served on a platter, were the best I’ve ever had, and the dipping sauce(made with chipotle) was especially delicious. Martin also spent significant time with other customers describing ingredients of dishes they raved over. He also graciously suggested nearby sights to visit(Ruedi Reservoir and a Swinging Bridge just yards from the restaurant). We definitely will visit again when we return in the Fall.

True Colorado dining experience. You must sit on the wooden outdoor deck, the river runs by and you hear the trees rustle in the wind. If your chilly they have a basket full of blankets to throw around you. The food is good, the service friendly and the portions large. It was the perfect lunch spot.

VERY disappointed! I love visiting Basalt when I am in the area! However this experience was SUCH a bummer I loaded up after my 1 wine and headed to my hotel in Snowmass Village for dinner. At first I was excited to find the ONLY restaurant with a riverside patio in Basalt and I eagerly headed over to enjoy a glass of wine after work next to the river. I arrived just moments before happy hour ended at 6 and asked the bartender for a glass of wine before happy our ended. She was SORUDE I should have left at that moment… she hastily poured my wine and as I waited with a $ 20 bill to pay the tab, she went about her bar business…10 minutes later I decided to sit and enjoy the river I came to visit. There was a server on the patio as well, she never came to offer food, water, another drink, NOTHING! I really was looking forward to a good time on the patio but with such TERRIBLE service i couldn’t stand to pay another dime!

Lunch on the deck overlooking the creek — hard to beat. Looks like a really fun place in high season, too(we went in off-season). There is a huge two-sided bar — one side is open from the deck. We read some of the reviews that said the food was not that good, but went anyway due to the raves about the deck. We felt that the food certainly would stand on its own. My husband nearly licked his plate clean when he ordered the Grilled Trout with couscous. I had a bite, too, and loved it, in spite of the fact that I usually think trout is too fishy. I ordered the Grilled Chicken sandwich which was also top tier for what it is. Our server was a bit dingy but right on top of service and check-back. I would go back, for sure.

Good place to stop by. Super friendly staff. Local atmosphere. Surprising flavor profiles for a bar. Looks like it might be nice when the weather is good. We had the sliders, BBQ and Mahi were great beef one was good but the beef was just a frozen patty. The bread on them was great though and some nice condiments made a nice touch and all for 2.50 each.
