The Music Box Cafe

We found ourselves in downtown Avon Park traveling across the state and we needed a break and some comfort food. Neat spot to unwind and get some food. The CheeseSteak was great my travel partner had a grilled cheese and fries. Food was fresh and prepared nicely.

Love the hamburgers on a toasted bun!!! Great relaxed atmosphere! Family meal without the clean up… Never disappointed with the food or the service, it’s a must try!!!

Odd! Very odd! I don’t think I’ve used this word in a review before but these folks deserve it.
My dining partner and I arrived just after 8:00 am for breakfast. We seated ourselves between the bar and the stage. If this sounds like we were nursing a hangover in a bar after a long night, I would understand because that’s what if felt like. This place is indeed a bar at night. The owner/​cook apologized for late staff, and went off to start a pot of decaff which took forever.
Eventually a lady showed up, apologized for late staff again, and took our order. This was not difficult as the entire breakfast menu is three items. You can have eggs, an omelet, both with the usual fixins or a breakfast sandwich. In my entire life I’ve never seen a three item breakfast menu!
Like the coffee, our breakfast took forever. When it was served it was odd. It was served on a ceramic plate with plastic utensils and coffee in a Styrofoam cup. Odd.
My partner and I both agreed that our food was very good but by now we were just too wierded out to be happy. The much mentioned late staff member eventually showed up to check on us. She took my $ 20 for the check and then just disappeared. I had to go looking for my change.
There are several places to have breakfast in Avon Park and at least a couple very good choices are within seconds of here. My advice is to choose one of them!
