Great selection of beers. Pub food was good. I can see myself kicking back to enjoy a few here on my visits to Austin. Patio seemed nice but it was a bit chilly with the wind today. What can I expect, it is February 2nd.

Great atmosphere — feels very much like you’d expect a pub to feel — cozy, quaint, and inviting. Outdoor porch with tables and picnic tables. Super friendly bar staff. 30 + rotating craft beers on tap plus a full bar! On the food side of things — the menu looks like simple pub food … but once you take a bite you’ll see that they’ve put the emphasis on taste here! I’d highly recommend the Reuben and the TABLE sandwiches … AMAZING!

Very solid 4 stars. I’m not a beer drinker at all but the bar man took his time and let me sample a few and I found one I’m actually find of that I’ll be looking for when I get home. I had the chicken Cesar wrap which was excellent. Got some funky music playing on the speakers, great mood and relaxed atmosphere. I’d come back here anytime.

On a recent trip to Austin, I stumbled into Waller Creek, looking for a good meal to cap off a great night. I was looking forward to trying some of the recommended dishes, but I tempered my expectations, based on past experiences where raves reviews were given with the caveat that the food was«really good… for bar food.» I understand that when reviewing a pub, the focus is usually on the beer selection and atmosphere — not the food. But I came in hoping that the food would live up to all the hype I had been reading about. After surveying the menu, I placed my order at the bar and sat down at one of the tables. I ordered the Asian fries and a Reuben sandwich. About 15 minutes later, my food came out. I immediately dove into the Asian fries. Wow. There is a whole lot going on there. A heap of fries, smothered in lime mayo, Sriracha, hoisin sauce, and cilantro this dish is a veritable attack on the palate. The flavors were overwhelming and I just couldn’t eat more that a few bites. I know that it is a fan favorite, and maybe I came on an off night, but if you order these, make sure you have a few pints of craft beer to wash it all down with. The Reuben sandwich was — fabulous. Hearty layers of corned beef served up warm with sauerkraut and a nice smooth Russian dressing, it was possibly one of the most satisfying Reubens I’ve had in a long time. And it’s served with chips. So I guess I really didn’t need the Asian Fries. Yes, Waller Creek Pub House’s elevated pub food met my expectations, bar or not. The food is solid, the beer selection is phenomenal, and the service is fast and friendly. I may give the Asian Fries a second chance next time. But probably not. Enjoy!

My bf and I took the train downtown early Saturday afternoon and found this place. It rocks! The bartenders were really friendly and knowledgable about the beers. They made some great recommendations and we really enjoyed what we picked. We were not hungry enough for a meal(even though it was hard to resist the veggie burger) so we ordered Asian fries as a snack. They were great! The fries were perfectly crispy and not soggy and the toppings were good. We can’t wait to come back here!

TLDR? An affordable 4.5 star experience with well curated beer list and filling pub food. Located diagonally opposite the mighty beer and baker Easy Tiger and adjacent to The Gatsby. Waller Creek is a welcome addition and classy addition to what is the dirty six area. Their beer list is quite good, with the crafts being both from local Austin and other states. Affordable price range $ 5 – 7 for most beers. They will give you a sample before you try it. Great place to stop by just for a beer. This time we had the food too, my friend has the Rueben, which she quite enjoyed, and at the suggestion of the bar tender — Sean, I had the Indian lamb wrap. I was skeptical ordering it, but Sean said, there is another Indian guy who orders it and swears by it. I did and it was really good. Sean also made some great beer suggestions and knows his beer well. As far as the food menu goes, they have typical pubish fare — sandwiches, wraps and burger, all hearty and tasty, none of that small plate stuff where you want to go to P Terry’s after.

We really thought this place would be great since it was so close to Easy tiger we just assumed that it would be just as good, we were so wrong. Customer service is awful, here on a Wednesday and it took them 10 min to take our order and when we asked to ask to cash out(she took our name), the bar tender proceeded to help everyone else around and after waiting 15min we asked one more time to cash out. We were sitting at the bar during this time and had both of our empty glasses pushed forward, clearly indicating a need for service of some sort. My one pet peeve is customer service and If a place cannot do that, then it’s not worth visiting again.

Had a great lunch yesterday and look forward to going back! 1) Drinks: Great beer selection with roughly 20 taps. They gladly offer samples of any beer you want to try. We had two Bloody Mary’s. She made them fresh so I could have mine mild while my husbands was spicy. Both made perfect! 2) Food: Damn good! They have unique fry options — regular, Greek, Italian or Asian. We tried the Greek. It could been a meal in itself. Great flavor and generous topping ratio to fries. We also shared the veggie burger w/added egg and side salad(swapped since we ordered fries). Very flavorful veggie patty. The runny egg gave the perfect creaminess. I didn’t even think about mustard/ketchup/mayo. It’s a good sized burger. A generous portion for 1 but perfect for sharing with a side. Between the salad, fries and burger we left stuff on the table and were still very full. 3) Service: Fantastic! Andrea is amazing. Service with a smile and the perfect amount of attentiveness. The other guys working the bar also checked on us as well. Great service overall. We sat at the bar which I’m sure helped. They have a designated order spot at the bar so if you sit in the back, you might interact less. Other notes: we went on a rainy day but they have a great patio area out front. Good views of the creek from indoor seating. Many TV’s around the room = great place to watch a game.

Get their Reuben and Asian fries and accompany it with a beer from their respectable beer list. Enjoy it along with their fantastic staff(Mitch and Justin rock!) and chill non dirty sixth like setting(despite the location) right along the creek. It’s unlikely to disappoint.

We were walking around 6th and looking for nice pub w/good selection of craft beers. We found this place on Unilocal and decided to try due to its high star rating. It was a Sunday afternoon so the place was not busy but bar section was filled. The bartender greeted us right away and directed us to a wall that featured all the craft beers they serve. We had questions about the selections and she was more than happy to explain the brew and complexity of the beer we had in mind. Tried about 4 different types and were very happy with her suggestions. It was also a plus that they had the NFL on. Chill and clean place. Also has outdoor seating in the back with streaming water view from the canal.

A great little pub with a hell of a local craft brew selection. I was in Austin for a convention and was with some friends from out of state. We had time to kill so what a better way to spend it then at a pub, right? Aside from a round of beers we also got some snacks. I placed an order of a ‘mess of fries’ and paid extra for Italian style which includes garlic, parmesan, and oregano. My brown ale was exquisite as were the French fries. One of my friends got a grilled cheese sandwich that she cut into quarters. It was no ordinary grilled cheese, this was a chef’s grilled cheese sandwich! We left there feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of our conference. Great brew selection, wonderful food and decent prices. This is definitely a spot which I would go to again!

We randomly walked past this place on our way to downtown and decided to check it out, but just for beers. The menu looked awesome so we vowed to come back and we finally did this past weekend. The staff is super friendly as were the other patrons who were there while we were. I ordered the lamb burger while my boyfriend got a chicken wrap, and both were crazy delicious. That was one of the best lamb burgers I’ve ever had and now I’m really craving one. The beer selection is pretty good and they have some liquor options, too. I don’t quite remember pricing, but I don’t recall looking at my bill and flipping out so must not be too bad. They are having their grand opening August 8th and we’re going to try to drop by. I like it! We’ll be back for sure.

Austinites and Reuben-lovers rejoice! The culinary geniuses behind Petrol Station in Houston have brought their culinary vision to Austin in the form of the most delicious Reuben to ever grace my mouth! I warn you now, the passionate noises of shear ecstasy coming from the general direction of the bar will probably be me having a foodgasm since on top of the Reuben, I discovered Asian fries last night, on my maiden visit. The beer selection here is fantastic as well and the pint-prices won’t break your bank. I was in UnTappd heaven to discover they currently have Prairie Bomb! on draught! If beer and making your tastebuds happy isn’t your thing, they have you covered there too with a pretty stellar selection of top shelf spirits(I was shocked to find Old Forester on their shelf!). The location is just shy of Dirty 6th, meaning you don’t deal w/the touristy, frat/sorority/I just turned 21/pedosmile riff-raff and there seems to be ample and easier to attain parking. Another perk is having a view of Waller Creek from the outdoor and indoor patio sections! Not to mention the staff here knows what’s up! Super nice, super quick to satisfy your every beer/booze/food/smile-inducing need. I used to avoid anything off 35 and/or downtown like the plague, but Waller Creek Pub just gave me a reason to venture south once more! PS-They have a Table o’Condiments that would make any spice/flavor/heatseeking hipster ghost pepper green with envy!

I go here a few times a week to grab beer and some fantastic food. The draft selection is top notch, always showcasing some unique selections and rarities. The atmosphere is great, even the busy portion of the weekends have a laid back feel. The bartenders are extremely knowledgable and friendly to those who have a hard time selecting a beer, but will simultaneously carry on a super in depth discussion of beer with the heads. Awesome. Food is fresh and delicious,(they have the BEST Reuben I’ve had in Austin) the chef has his style set on very involved and flavorful items, though they are a sandwich and burger spot with several delicious curveballs thrown in. Don’t overlook the seafood tacos, I’ve had them with Mahi and they were amazing.

Excellent beer selection, yummy food. They have some mighty tasty french fries that you can get served up a few different ways. I tried the Asian and the Italian. They were delish but I will say they are super flavor loaded so you won’t need to eat very many to get your fill. The veggie burger seemed like it was house made and it was great! I think it was quinoa based which works well to balance out the flavor of any toppings you want to put on it. I also enjoyed a few stolen bites of my husband’s grilled cheese. I love how they put some cheese(maybe parmesan?) on the outside of the bread. It made for a nice crunchy bread. The bar itself has a relaxed vibe. You can hang out on a bar stool or if you have a big group they have plenty of larger tables both inside and outside where you can gather. The location is just off dirty 6th but has none of the insanity that goes on around there. The night I went was pint night and we got to take home our sweet pint glasses from Brooklyn Brewery. They have their pint nights listed online if you want to snag some glasses.
