Baby Jesus this place is soo good. Where do I even start. This was my first time having Moroccan food and I’ll definitely be back! The lady who owns the truck is so sweet. I love how she actually came to check on us to see if the food was good. Most food trucks do not do that. There’s inside and outside seating which was nice. Parking is limited in the food truck area but there’s a parking lot next to them that has a lot of spots! I got the chicken plate. It came with chicken, salad, cooked tomatoes, fried eggplant, fries or a fried egg, and pita bread. The chicken was juicy, tender, and tasted delicious with all the spices on it. I love that it came with a salad. It was nice to have something fresh to eat while eating all the cooked foods. The salad itself had a vinaigrette dressed on it and came with this sauce that tasted kind of like thousand island but better! The fried eggplant and tomatoes and pita bread were paired deliciously with the dish. I’m also a fries fiend and their fries were crispy and touched off with pepper, exactly how I like my fries. The best part is how much delicious food I got for $ 10! Such a hearty meal. Can’t wait to come back! Also check out the jarrito juice. I hate grapefruit but it tasted like a tangy Sprite. The hot mint tea was also good but a little too fragrant for me.

I think this just became one of my favorites in Austin. First off, the staff here is extremely friendly. The owner took the time to explain the menu to us, and even walked around the restaurant portion to check up on all the guests. This is not something you usually see with food trucks. The produce they use here is organic as well, and you can definitely taste it in the food. She told us she got 70% of today’s ingredients fresh locally which is amazing to do for such a moderate price range of food. I got the beef plate, which was just a deconstructed wrap on a plate. Simply delicious. Came with a side of salad that I devoured(mind you, I’m not a fan of salads), olive oil-ey eggplants that were sooooo good, a side of fries, a tomato salsa type thing, and the beef. I literally cleaned my plate this evening. It was so good! The mint tea has a very strong mint flavor and was perfect in my opinion. Super refreshing and warm. i wanted to try the dessert(stuffed dates) but they sold out already. All the more reason to come back for more :)

I absolutely love this place. It is true Moroccan food and delicious! I had my birthday dinner here — we ordered off their special dinners menu. We had a group of 9 and everyone loved it. I felt as if I were back in Morocco! Abdu and Maria are amazing and have a great restaurant! I can’t wait to go back!

Food, atmosphere, service… all excellent! Order from the trailer out back, where Maria takes your order and Abderrahim cooks your meal fresh to order! It is not«fast» food, the sauces are made fresh, everything is cooked to order, and it is worth the wait and delicious! While you wait on your food, you can sit in or outside until they bring your food. They deliver it! You just eat drink, and become merry and full! We drank some hot Moroccan mint tea, which is sweet and oh so warming, while awaiting our food order. Since it is BYOB, we also brought in a bottle of our favorite white to enjoy with the meal. Most of the other diners had their own wine and beer as well. The restaurant has cozy floor seating with comfy cushions or regular American-style tables. Nice décor, lighting, and music! I had the sleek Vegan, that was soooo big I couldn’t finish it $ 6, greens, eggplant, sauce, falafel all wrapped in a huge pita. That eggplant was to die for! My girlfriend had the Moroccan Plate with chicken($ 10), and again, to die for! The food is filling and yet not heavy, satisfying yet so healthful! The fresh tomato sauce is amazing! The spicing is perfect. It was a really great meal and we will be back for a special Tagine dinner at the Moroccan couch table! With more people! Also, one of the nicest touches was the personal visit by the owner and Chef, Abderrahim, who came in and asked if we enjoyed the meal, doing the same for the other guests. It felt like a personalized dining experience that you don;t get often(anymore) in ATX! It’s also hard to find such high quality, great-tasting food so inexpensively in Austin anymore, and yet still get organic, free range, hormone-free, etc., local produce and meat! Tons of parking right next door in the empty lot-free! A few spaces in back. Can’t wait to return! Thank you for a delightful dining and dinner experience!!!

Finally tried this place out after an unsuccessful first attempt last summer(when the owners left for vacation). I gotta say, the food was AMAZING. My boyfriend and I both got the Big Abdu, after I checked out rave reviews about it and recommended by the owners themselves. It was our first time trying Moroccan food, and I was quite surprised by the amount of flavor from the unique spices and sauces with every bite. I savored every bit of that, and I’m already looking forward to coming back! Only downside to our visit was that our food took a very long time… there were only a few of us seated inside, and it took almost 25 minutes for us to receive our order. However, the ambiance and décor of the place was stellar, and the people-watching kept us preoccupied as we waited. Food was so worth the wait.

I had my first taste of Moroccan food here and it was delicious! The experience was an all-encompassing delight to the hungry adventurer! Although the food truck kitchen is outside in a parking lot, comfy indoor seating is available in a small building. I ordered the Moroccan beef plate; in which, all the items on the plate were savory in their own unique way. The particular spices and sauces added the perfect amount of flavor and spice to the dish. The eggplant, feta cheese, and kebab-style beef incorporated into the dish vividly portray how this cuisine has embraced Morocco’s proximity to the Mediterranean and Middle East. The staff was quite friendly in checking how we liked our dishes and helpful in navigating through the menu. The ambiance was cool, calm, and casual and complimented this exploratory dining event. Through this visit, I am thoughtfully wondering when I will have the opportunity to eat Moroccan food again!

This is one of my favorite places in Austin to eat. The food is crazy good and the owners are the sweetest and so passionate about the food they serve. I highly recommend The Flying Carpet!

This place is really great. I must have drove by this building nearly 100 times and never noticed it existed until a friend invited me to a gathering here. Like most people who first discover this place it was was also my first taste of Moroccan food and i absolutely loved it. It is a family owned business, the husband and wife were both in the trailer on the grill, while the their son served the food. My favorite on the menu is the Djaj a la maria, it includes chicken and has your traditional Mediterranean spicy flavor. I’ve experimented with their menu and i must say that their other dishes are also worth trying. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor are has limited seating next to their trailer however the indoor is inside the building next to their trailer so if you come with a party you it feels very private. The ethnic interior of the building gives you a great feel of Moroccan culture with the decoration as well as the music, best of all it is a BYOB. It is a really cool place to experience hands down. After experiencing a taste of Moroccan culture it makes you wish there were more ethnic varieties of restaurants besides Indian and Thai food considering all the restaurants located in Austin.

Austin Chronicle’s Critics Pick 2012 and Best Dishes 2013&2014! I ordered The Sleek Vegan, with harissa and goat cheese added. It was delectable. Best Moroccan I’ve had. Wonderful place to take a group. Seating both inside and outside. Excellent service and premium quality. Best restaurant in ATX.

First of all I want to say that this place is an experience. A new visiter will find themselves parking in the back, waking up to the forever locked front door, walking into the back door, looking around in the place to be directed by customers to visit the food truck in the back! Just those steps make it entertaining people watching! The food overall is 4 stars. The spices and sauces they use are unique and tasty. Most wraps seem to have fries with them which I imagine is something unique to the culture. My only complaint was the bread in the wrap was not as fresh as it could be. However, this place is BYOB and has a GREAT hosting area for any small event. You should call first to make sure you can use the area for a large group but the unique nature of the building and the people watching gives it another star.

This place is ridiculously good. Never tried Moroccan food before but wow I’m a fan now. We found this gem months ago and we try to come here at least once a week to get our fix. I must say it’s bit hard to locate cause if you’re not paying attention you could miss your turn into the venue. The food is amazing regardless of what you pick but my recommendation is definitely the MOROCCAN which is HEARTY, RICH, ANDSUPERSAVORY or even the DJAJ A LAMARIA which is SPICY, FLAVORFULANDHEARTY, enough said. The HOTMINTTEA A LAMOROCCAN(SWEET) is something you should order in advance because it’s worth the 15 minute wait to brew, it’s mind boggling. The place is pet friendly and they even have both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is awesome plus they do to go orders as well. Basically if you haven’t been there yet, what are you doing reading this, get your butt over there asap.

Delicious and high quality food at a modest price for how great it tastes. I’ve tried Le Dajaj Maghrebi, The Sleek Vegan, and the Big Abdu, and all are absolutely amazing. The owners and chef are very nice and make it a point that you are enjoying yourself. Orders are taken and the food is cooked in the food truck while you can sit in their indoor seating or outside. According to their websites, they try to use organic ingredients the best they can and I hope they continue to do this. It shows in the taste and quality of their food.

Fabulous. The food is delicious and the portions are generous for a great price. And the service — Maria and Abdu are awesome! Although this is a trailer, they have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating.

Hello, deliciousness! Tried the DJaj a la Maria — a tasty wrap with chicken, fries, goat cheese, onions, and a spicy sauce. Ummmm, you had me at fries. Then wrap them in a delightful sandwich, you say? Yes please. The owners were chatty and gracious, ample space to eat inside house which fronts on Oltorf. Get the mint tea too! Next time, we will special order a tagine in advance.

The food does not get any better than this. The thing about Austin and the trailers — aside from the food you can’t get anywhere else… is the summer heat. This has an air conditioned, decorated and well maintained eating area. The chef/owner, Abdu, came out and spoke with us — very friendly. If you’re a big guy like me, I recommend the«Abdu» — salivating as i’m writing this.

This was my first time to the Flying Carpet, the first of many to come. The delicious Moroccan dish I ordered was a combo plate with marinated beef and savory chicken. This was not the only item in the plate. The sides were slices of grilled eggplant that blew my mind, so few places know how to cook a good eggplant with the right taste and right texture, this is one of them; a side salad was perfectly cupped under the beef in my to-go plate and the goat cheese was a delightful add-on. I mixed the tomato sauce with the fried egg and sliced it up with little pieces of eggplant and topping it off with light chunks of beef… amazing to say the least. The side fries are seasoned with a nice Mediterranean taste, and it all comes with a fresh bread, similar to pita bread but not as thick. I also had the hot sweet mint tea, and damn, it was so good that I wish I could make this at home on a regular basis. Great food, service and happy feeling after devouring it.

We ordered the Big abdu and Djaj a la maria. Both were delicious but get the Djaj a la Maria if you want some greens. They cook everything fresh to order so it takes about 15 – 20 minutes. Everything is made by hand and they use hormone free meats. Mmmmmm delicious! You are supposed to order at the food truck but since it was raining, the owners told us to go ahead and have a seat inside(food truck with indoor space!!! Essential during these rainy days) and they would come get our orders. Inside is cozy and they have relaxing music on in the background. They don’t sell alcoholic drinks but are totally fine with BYOB. The owners were super sweet and friendly and their food is amazing!

I went with the signature«The Moroccan»: seasoned high quality ground beef, a fried egg and zesty tomato sauce all wrapped up in flat bread pita style. It was so tasty! The fries are skinny, crispy and seasoned — just the way I like them. This food trailer is a little hard to find; it’s on Oltorf right next to Church’s Chicken, down a recessed long dirt driveway. There’s a store front but that’s not the entrance, you have to go down the driveway to find the trailer and parking. There is a nice, cozy Moroccan themed indoor space with plenty of seating for dining in, and it’s also a good place for gatherings.
