Kary Austin’s Bagels & Smoothies

After a long day of Foster Pup Meet N Greets I found myself stuck on S Lamar in non moving traffic and STARVING and HOT! So, I decided to drive through the parking lot next to Austin Pizza to get to S 1^st with some twists and turns I ended up right at The South First Trailer Park and Kary Austin’s just waiting to indulge me.
Not sure their weekday hours but Saturdays are 11 – 4 and I got there just in time.
They serve breakfast bagels all day as well as bagel sandwiches. I decided on the Veggie Bagel Sandwich that came with 4 thick slices of avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion and Monterrey Jack Cheese and came with a crisp pickle for only 3.50. Half way through my bagel sandwich I decided to order something cold before they closed for the day and decided on the Heath Moca Iced Coffee that came topped with whipped cream! Oh Yum!
And might I add that they get their bagels from Rock Star Bagels!

Hi! My husband brought me a bagel sandwich from Kary Austin’s and it was delicious! Turkey on an everything bagel with avocado and ranch dressing. They get their bagels from Rock star bagels and they’re fresh and not chewy. So happy we have a new addition to trailer cuisine in Austin — everybody loves bagels! I think they have smoothies too but I haven’t tried them yet. I’m sure they’ll be as delicious as their sandwiches though — can’t wait to try them out!

Kary Austin’s smoothies saved my hide. Seriously! During a looooong walk at Zilker Park in search of my lost keys, with a 22 lb baby in my arms and a cranky 3 year old dragging his heels behind me, I made a promise of a smoothie and some chocolate at the end of our journey. That prospect was just the boost my 3 year old needed to help him make it back to the car once we found the keys. Problem was… The baby promptly fell asleep once we hit the road… And you know what they say about sleeping babies! So, I drove off in search of a drive-​through smoothie dealer. Lucky for us, I spied Kary Austin’s little bagel & smoothie trailer on the side of the road with a wide open parking area, picnic tables, and a wee play area for my tot! It wasn’t exactly a drive-​through, BUT my baby could continue to sleep soundly while my older son and I walked a few steps from the car to order. I had a $ 5 in my possession, & they didn’t take cards, so I gratefully ordered the smoothie and nothing else. Well, to our delight and surprise, the young gentleman at the counter gave me a $ 1 discount AND a bag of chips and a soft drink just for stopping by. Hooray! That left just enough for me to try their egg & cheese bagel sandwich! It was scrumptious– made w/​Rock Star bagels– and EVEN my finicky preschooler loved it. The strawberry smoothie was one of the best I’ve had in this town! Thanks, Kary Austin’s Bagels & Smoothies, for salvaging our otherwise rather rotten morning! We will DEFINITELY be back!
